Valvoline replaced on the main battery and failed to strap it back down where it sits under the passenger seat. That's how Haynie's found it. So this cause out Durango to not start properly due to not having the auxiliary battery. I called Haynie's garage and a really nice guy answered and when I explained what I needed he went into all this detail what that auxiliary battery does. I had no clue. Found out I was talking the owner Chris. Super nice and absolutely knowledgeable. They close at 5:30pm and I got there at 4pm for the battery and to have my oil changed. No problem. I didn't ask for the oil change til I arrived and he said he had literally just used the last oil filter on a Jeep but would get one right over and was apologetic. That was absolutely fine with me and I didn't mind waiting. Chris also told me that he found my battery was not strapped down from Valvoline. This garage is off a dirt road since he moved to this newer location. His shop is sits off the road but it's still easy to find with a GPS. It's worth the trip. Haynie's Garage is absolutely awesome. I will only take my vehicles here from now on.

My car suddenly wouldn't start unless jumped and was making a disgusting scraping noise so I decided to try to find a mobile mechanic so I wouldn't have to drive it to a shop. I am SO happy I went this route bc I will now be using Wilson's mobile for all future car problems moving forward. The owner, Ethan, is extremely knowledgable, honest, trustworthy, and great at explaining everything in a way that's easy to understand for people like me who know next to nothing about cars--I actually learned some things in the process. In addition to that, his response time when i reached out was extremely quick which was super helpful as i was essentially stranded at home. I ended up getting a diagnostic quote on one of the issues (scraping noise which was a wheel bearing issue) from Pep Boys...and Wilson's Mobil's quote was $500+ cheaper! They moved from the original Richardson location, which looked like an old gas station, to a much smaller rented space where they still operate on a limited basis. I had my alternator rebuilt there, and the workmanship was decent overall. However, some of the replacement parts used were not genuine, which caused my alternator warning light to remain on. As a result, I had to remove and reinstall the alternator several times to troubleshoot the issue. While the rebuild itself was acceptable, the use of non-OEM parts created an unnecessary inconvenience.

To elaborate, I got my rear brakes, rotors, and calipers replaced at the end of May/start of June because they'd been grinding for a while. I called ahead to see what the wait would be and was told there wasn't much of a wait, but I pulled in to see that their wait list was overflowing into the neighboring Starbucks' parking lot. After dropping off and waiting for over 4 1/2 hours, they finally give me an update, tell me they'll have to hold my truck overnight, and say they'll call around 11:00AM to give me the OK to pick up. At 11:15 the next day, I call up there because I hadn't heard anything, and they tell me it's gonna be another 20-30 minutes and that they'll call me when it's ready. At 1:00PM, I call again because they still hadn't gotten back to me, and they tell me that it'd been ready for about an hour. I get over there, pick it up, and go about my day. About a month later, I start hearing a grinding again, so I take my truck back to them. Again, I called ahead to see what the wait would be, and they tell me that they could check it out pretty much right when I get there. I drop it off and see there's only a few other cars and figure they're being legit this time. I don't hear anything for almost three hours, and when they finally call, they tell me that the rear left brake pads were installed backwards, so they had to replace the calipers and pads once again. Furthermore, they found a few new things that need to be replaced (which they somehow missed when I brought it in a month prior), so I forked out a few hundred extra dollars on some of that. They let me know when it was ready to go this time, so I went back about 40 minutes later and picked it up, thinking I wouldn't have to do anything else on my brakes for a while. Cut to last week. I'm pulling out of a parking lot and hear a completely different grinding noise from before coming from the rear again. I pull over to check it out, and my rear right caliper has fallen off and is grinding against the wheel itself. Both bolts holding it in place apparently came undone and popped out. I thankfully have a cousin whose a mechanic (who I probably should've gone to in the first place) and he gave me a temporary remedy for the situation and told me how to fix it once I have the right parts. I won't be going back to Brakes Plus because you'd think for a place with "Brakes" in their name, they'd do a better job of servicing and installing them. I actually learned how to replace my front brakes myself about a week after they replaced my rears, and I've had no issues with them thus far, and as a first-time brake technician, I don't think I should be outperforming the trained professionals who've been doing this for years. While the evidence is very circumstantial, it really feels like they do a subpar job just to get you to come back and charge more for other services. I will say, though, that I'm giving them two stars and not just one because the techs are very personable when you talk to them at the counter, they did cover the brakes they replaced after having installed them wrong, and they knocked almost $100 off of my initial brake replacement. However, when I pay $865 for someone to fix my brakes, I want it to be done right the first time.
