I searched for glasses that fit my 7 yrs old. I visited 10 vision centers and ended here with the pair that fit her little face the most. The team was wonderful. Attentive and super helpful. It is the 1st pair for her and I wanted them to be comfortable and non traumatic. They are the perfect fit. Her glasses took 4 days! I was expecting them in 2 weeks. They were part of VSP insurance and service was impeccable. Now this review is for the vision center itself not the eye test drs across the hall. I didn't use their service. I would recommend them. Also, they are located in building S3 on 2nd floor next to the ER on orchard. Use the elevator. read more

Nope, not even a 1 star but that is the lowest rating you can give. I called ahead to see if they helped with a diagnosis that I had by TWO other clinics, an optometrist and an eye focus therapy clinic. I needed a diagnosis plan on how to proceed and what can be done from a place that would accept my insurance, so I reached out to Intermountain Eye Center. I called them first to see if they treated BVD and Vertical Heterophoria Dysfunction and I was told THEY DID. Well, after almost 3 hours at Intermountain Eye Center, a full work up, and seeing two people (both of whom had conflicting responses), the actual ophthalmologist said, "there is nothing wrong with your eyes, go see a neurologist" and handed me a eye prescription. I had an eye prescription from an Optometrist already and who was the original person who identified me with BVD and Vertical Heterophoria dysfunction which is why I was seeking out a specialist to assist with these dysfunctions. I went to a second place who agreed with the diagnosis and was going to give me an eye therapy plan but I sought a third place because the second place did not accept my insurance. The original clinic and the second clinic both identified having these dysfunctions and they make sense with my struggles. The most frustrating part with being seen at Intermountain Eye Center was I saw the actual ophthalmologist for maybe 10 minutes and he did not even really speak to me about my struggles, jumped into quick exam and handed me a script as he walked out saying "all looks fine with your eyes, I suggest you go see a neurologist". I feel he overlooked why I was there and just treated me like I was cattle to get through the shoot. When I tried to ask him questions he was at the door and just as he walked out said, "no, I don't see those issues, may be a neurological issue," and then he left. I would not suggest this place for anyone because of the lack of trying to understand what the patient is needing. I feel they are just running you through so they can bill the insurance. So very disappointed and angry that they will be able to bill my insurance for this visit and line their pockets. read more

I have never had a problem with IEC I have been going to them for 4 years now every 6-8 weeks, the staff and my Dr. Are always very kind and considerate, they are very thorough and thoughtful. When I have a problem or a concernthey take it very seriously, I have never seen this factory with the assembly line, that everyone else on here is talking about all I ever see is a packed house with a very busy staff I come in with a smile on my lips and it never fails that I walk out with a smile on my face. read more

I'm going to have to go against the earlier yelp reviewers. Maybe things have changed since covid-19 as, other than always having to wear a mask, Intermountain Eye Centers has been wonderful for me. The staff has been friendly, caring, and attentive. Wait times past your appointment time seem to always be an issue anywhere I go for my eyes, so that wasn't surprising. Diagnosis, compared to other eye places I've been in Cincinnati and Kansas City, was spot on, and disputed the other centers (one of which I went to twice a year for 15 years). I had been "told to worry" about cataract surgery or other eye surgery. Instead, I was recommended scleral contacts (these had never been mentioned before) and the eye center and Joyce were professional, explained everything, and fitted me. Fixed my eye problems without surgery, and the entire experience was fantastic. read more

This clinic is run like a fast food chain. very sweet , young ladies escort you as quickly as they can t the whole process. my billing was miss represented as in network (was not) and then done incorrectly. extra charges at check out and first billing. most of my exam done by technician. my doctors final comment was come back and get your prescription if you think it is helpful . Went for an exam to get new prescription for contact lenses. The first new prescription caused me to have headaches, went back 2 more times and still did not get a prescription that improved my vision. During all 3 visits, I only saw the doctor maybe a total of 10 minutes. Was not impressed and will never go back again. read more

Aside from the rush-through non-concern attitude of the opthalmogists it's the optical department that really needs to come into the 21st century. The staff never checks the patient chart, lay any issues that arise in other staff and generally just don't want to be there. Feels like a factory - people at the reception are cold and rude, assembly line style interactions - 'move here/wait there'. Seriously not one 'please' or 'thank you'. Most of the time waiting is at a minimum. Today it took 40 minutes to get an eye exam. Then had to wait for Dr Tweeten. Waited an hour before being informed that Dr. Tweeten was backed up and Dr. Hopstead would see his patients. I found Dr. Hopstead to be arrogant and brash. Unfortunate, because Dr. Teeeten prides himself on a caring practice. read more

Front staff doesn't follow through. I recently had PRK and over the last few months I have left 4 messages with questions about medications and follow up appointments. None of those calls were returned until I had called back for the second or third time. Take you business elsewhere. read more

This was the worst experience I've ever had at an eye appt! From the crowded waiting room to unpleasant, and apathetic staff who could hardly take the time to look at me when I was being interviewed. I came in for dryness and a new onset lid lag and left with a medication for dry eye that cost hundreds just on the copay!! Plus was told since my eye was now dialated (after an exam I never asked for) that they could not address my lid lag. And on top of that I'd have to see a specialist for that. Check out was equally demoralizing as she took my paperwork and called an office in Meridian for a followup appointment I could not have made even if I was slightly interested in coming back to them. I got my exam, my prescription, and ordered new glasses with the stipulation they would be ready before my out of town trip in three weeks. I needed them as I had lost my glasses. Recently, I had switched eye doctors and scheduled an annual vision exam with the Front Street office in order to get an updated prescription. At the time of the appointment and during the appointment, we discussed my vision history. I had requested my files from prior provider and those were provided to Front Street office. During the exam, we talked about elevated pressure and he tested for that and recommended another test at the main facility, which I did undertake. When it came time for insurance submission, Front Street office submitted the claim as medical and therefore, it was not covered by my insurance plan. In all of my history, my prior provider, who always tested for pressure on the optic nerve, never submitted as medical. Upon learning of this, I attempted to contact the office but could never reach anyone. I finally did and explained the situation of an incorrect submission and was informed that the doctor would call me to review. This was in late November or early December. Said call never occurred. On Monday, January 6, 2020, I attempted again to make contact with the office to no avail, meaning no one would answer their phones. I contacted the billing office who did kindly transfer me directly to Front Street office where my call was immediately picked up. Explaining the situation again to whomever answered, I was informed that Dr. would call me back. On January 8, 2020, Dr. did return a call, leaving a voice mail, indicating why the claim was submitted as medical. I do not buy it. It's unfortunate that after he requested the additional testing, which I completed quickly, he never once got back in touch with me about results. In fact, I still don't know what those results may have indicated. He did mention in the voice mail that he now sees that from my chart history from prior provider (which I believe he had all along) that this is not a new issue and he didn't seem concerned. Again, we discussed this during the initial appointment. I'm extremely disappointed in the customer care I received from Dr. and the whole office/experience. Very unprofessional and unclear. I will not be back and will not refer anyone to Intermountain. read more

I have recommended Intermountain Eye Centers for years to other people because I have been having eye exams from the ophthalmologist at this clinic for about 20 years. I have found them very professional and reassuring. I had lasik 15 years ago. I was extremely nervous and Dr. Borup met with me 2 times to go over the procedure. Having lasik was one of the best decisions I have made for my health. I have had my general eye exams with Dr. Ewing and she showed compassion when I became upset with finding floaters in one of my eyes. She called me a week later to see is my floaters were improving or getting worst. My elderly mother has been treated by Dr. Tweeten for the past 10 years. She sees him at the Curtis Rd. clinic and has less wait time if she makes her appointments in the morning. If her appointments are in the afternoon there is a longer wait time, which I do think has to do with patients arriving late for their appointments and the fact that many of his patients are elderly and take more time moving from the waiting room to the exams rooms. read more

Love Dr. Harf. The front office staff at the Boise location is another story. EXTREMELY rude and combative front staff for check in and check out on EVERY visit for the last 18 months. Spoke with "Sherri" who claimed to be ONE of the MANY office managers and she could have cared less. She was even aware of the rude happening to our family earlier that day and had done nothing. Well I was a New Patient and the check in ladies weren't friendly at all. Also when the guy came out and called my name, he took me back and stated to do the exam. He says "I don't understand why you can't see whats up on the screen you should have 20/20 with this exam. I was thinking to myself how would he know my prescription I have never been here. He said to wait a minute and I will right back. I heard another co worker there say my first name so I got up to look at the name on the chart that was in the room where I was. It was my first name, but not my last. He had the wrong patient. So I got up and went out to the front to the lady that was calling my name and asked her what was the last name to the pt she was calling and it was mine. The Doctor was nice but their staff could use a lesson on how to treat people. If they didn't have patients, there wouldn't be a staff. It doesn't take any energy to be nice. Be kind.
