After 5 hours, I had to call again, wait on hold and be treated like an impatient child. When I indicated I wanted to do a followup visit, a local friend recommended Dr. Boerner. From the beginning, the treatment and care provided was vastly different! His office staff is very pleasant and went above and beyond to accommodate my crazy work travel schedule. When I arrived, I was met and greeted by everyone, even when they were just walking through the office! Dr. Boerner was kind and listened very intently to my concerns. We chatted bout my lifestyle, interests and what I wanted the outcome to be. He was realistic, frank and compassionate at the same time.The comfort level I felt was unexpected and beyond positive--it was like we were in my living room, not some cold, sterile medical environment! I only waited a couple minutes before Ashley Cafferty greeted me and walked me back to my exam room. Ashley and I went through my medical history, my transplant timeline and my relationship with the sun. I appreciate that she took in everything that I was throwing at her. She didn't rush me and everything that I had to tell her. Her attention was truly undivided. Ashley did a thorough exam of my skin. She checked every mole to make sure they weren't suspicious for anything concerning. We also went through my dry skin concerns and possible treatment options to help alleviate some of the dryness. It is quite the awkward situation, having someone you just barely met go through every inch of your body but Ashley made me feel comfortable the whole time. I couldn't be happier coming to this office to get my relationship with a dermatologist started. The staff is great. The office itself is stunning. The room I was in was clean and professional. I asked if I could please speak to a manager and she refused, telling me that she would tell me the same thing. Where on Earth does front desk staff have the right to refuse a customer to speak to a manager. It isn't even about the money, these places won't provide cost over the phone bc they want the opportunity to upsell the product. If that wasn't the case they would be able to provide a range from most economic cost to more expensive costs based on past cases. Absolutely ridiculous. I called Dr. Griffith's office and his team (Star) was immediately responsive. After a 30 minute consult with him over zoom, and then considering other surgeons, I chose Dr. Griffiths to perform the surgery. Getting my insurance company on board wasn't easy, but a call with Star and Anthem of Nevada got the approvals we needed. I scheduled the surgery for just a couple weeks later and they made all the arrangements at St. Luke's for the out patient procedure. They suggested that after I was released from the hospital, I stay at St. Luke's Guest House, which was much less expensive than other options. I had my reconstruction surgery at the end of October, and stayed for three weeks afterwards for nearly daily check-ins to ensure everything was healing properly. Even after I got home, I sent photos to Dr. Griffiths to ensure he was happy with the progress. Six months later, I could not be more pleased with the outcome. While my new ear is not identical to my existing ear, it is MY new ear and I love it! I cannot thank Dr. Griffiths and his team enough for their top notch work and help with it. I was lucky enough to be seen and treated for this problem by a great doctor at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. About 5 years ago I develop more problems in the same area and was talked into letting Dr Williams take care it here in Boise rather than traveling to Minnesota. This turn out to be a huge mistake which I now must live with for the rest of my life. Unless it's a matter of life or death, I will never again allow a doctor in Boise to treat me for anything serious.
