This is my 2nd time going to Inspire, and this time, we decided to go for brunch! We got the pad kra pao eggs benny and the chicken and waffles egg benny. Similar to their dinner, the portions are HUGE! The dishes are definitely creative and well thought out. Our server was kind and helpful, and quick to refill our waters. Ambiance was inviting and bright, and windows looked out onto Main St Markham.

First time to inspire just before COVID and the food and service is still great. We came on a snowy Friday nite with reservations. And everything we ordered was great. It's a small place so make sure to make reservations

Found this on yelp and had good ratings so decided to try on the Saturday before Mother's Day. You have to email the restaurant for reservations and for larger parties, they ask for a cc number to be kept on file in case of no shows as it is a small restaurant . The restaurant is located on Main St Markham in a quaint area. There is a parking lot behind the restaurant. We ordered the pad kra pao Benny, the chicken & waffle Benny, the waffle, eggs & bangers, mushroom cheese omelette, the shiitake gravy katsu chicken rice, yuzu shrimp hash, and the pad kra pao cheese frites. The flavours were really good and the Asian flavours for brunch were excellent. Everything tasted great and portions were decent. A great find and would come again but it was a bit far for us as we are not from the area.

Made a reservation on Mother's Day. Friendly service. Not too many options on the menu and the food was average. I had the chicken and waffles, I think it lacked flavour as there was no syrup and a cold nutty macadamia sauce was provided for the chicken. Worth a try, to experience the ambience of the restaurant, not sure if I will come again

Inspire is very cozy with limited seating and a menu to match. Service was good and the food is beyond delicious and creative with the flavours and combinations. The cocktails were excellent and the mixologist did some custom drinks as well. I think this resto falls short on dessert options at least for the night I was there otherwise it's a favourite for their version of chicken and waffles

Food here was amazing and portions were big! Ordered the duck confit tacos and we were so surprised at how big it was! The size of the chicken katsu slaw can serve 2 people! The chicken was very crispy as well. The Loco Moco was another favourite and we loved the coconut rice and toppings. Service was quick and friendly! Seating and decor was nice.

A low key restaurant in village of Markham that serves a small menu of fusion food. The menu reaches into many different cultures and I love how they incorporate them into their own dishes. The décor and vibe gives off a relaxed environment perfect for enjoying the food they serve. Had a bunch of dishes family style and ordered my favourite dishes: OG Insp burger: This burger was beautifully constructed and served with disastrous amount of fries. Ingredients worked well together, the tarragon aioli was amazing on the fries and the burger. Crab with the noodles: Nice seafood flavour, might have been a bit too heavy handed on the parm because it was a bit too salty. Love the pappardelle that came with the pasta. Wagyu loco moco: Delicious mix of beef + shrimp and a whole lot of different fun textures. Like the dish above, it was a bit too salty for my liking but everything else was nice. Sweet dijon chick burger: I feel like this was overshadowed by the OG burger and so wouldn't even recommend this one. Maybe try the chicken and waffles next time, but that dish is also huge. Shiitake udon carbonara: Interesting concept of udon with carbonara, but it just felt like cream and salt to me, no fun flavours mixed in to make a abit more inspiring =). Waff out loud: I just don't think this combination goes well together. I also did have it after a while, it was sitting on the other end of the table. So this may not be the review for this. Waffles were disappointingly soggy, might be due to time, but will have to try it with the chick'n waffles next time.

Great brunch! I dined in this restaurant with my family on Saturday brunch. We had a fried chicken dish and shrimp dish. Holly Molly both dishes were packed with flavours. They were so fresh and delicious. The portion was very generous. The staff were not very friendly but ok. Service was relatively fast. I will definitely come back.

    Inspire burger

OML speechless. This has to be my new favorite restaurant in Markham. The food here was amazing. The service was great and pretty quick. The ambiance was so calming because there were dimmed lights. I literally love their fries so much I would eat it for every meal if I could. The lemongrass chicken fries dish was everyone's favorite! The regular fries with that dipping sauce on the side, chefs kiss . Best fries I've ever tasted. The portion sizes were perfect and the chicken sando & chicken and waffles dish had big pieces of chicken. The chefs definitely made these dishes with passion because the flavours were so unique and delicious. You can tell the food is good when there's only a few items on the menu, and I think they switch out items occasionally (as some of the old reviews were showing food that weren't on the menu when we went) The only thing I disliked was their water, the mint made the water taste toothpaste but, it can be a good palate cleanser. The price for each entree is around $20 which is incredible for the quantity and quality. There were 4 of us eating here, the total bill was around $80-90 (we ordered 5 dishes) we all left satisfied and so stuffed. I would highly recommend this restaurant, we already came here twice and we are definitely going to be coming back here again to try all of their other dishes.

My fiance had the Wagyu Loco Moco and I had the OG INSP burger with duck confit frites
    Rebecca L.

Initially my fiance was a bit hesitant for fusion restaurants but it was better than expected! I ordered the OG INSP burger, while my fiance ordered the Wagyu Loco Moco. I think the burger was pretty good value in the sense that it came with duck confit frites. The price of the frites is $16, and the burger +frites was only $22. There's your hack right there. Now I don't know if the portion for the $16 would be bigger, but I thought the one that came with the burger is already pretty sizeable. The downside is that there's so much fries and not totally enough dipping sauce and if you ask for more, there is an extra charge of ~$1? Overall the food was pretty tasty, I did wish there was a bit more mushroom for my fiance's Loco Moco though. Also a note, the seating area is smaller, especially for two people. Asides from that, service is good, food is good, worth a try!

    Nadine C.

Portions are amazing, flavour is amazing, price is reasonable. The burger was so juicy and flavourful... and it's never a bad idea to have an egg on your burger. I may have wished that the pork belly was stripped off of the skin so I didn't have to take it out of my mouth when I chewed it. The duck fries were very good but nothing to cal home about. The salted egg aioli was a great idea to pair with duck confit fries, just not for me. I preferred the ketchup haha. The chicken and waffles were the star of the show. The lemon grass flavours really shine through the breading and it was a perfect balance of sweet and savoury with the berry compote. The portions were HUGE! They were very busy as they had reservations fully booked the whole evening. I called and they were able to squeeze us in as we came during off hours (3pm- before all their reservations were booked for)

    Shiitake Katsu

Went here for Sunday brunch a couple weeks ago. We normally go here for dinner but have never tried brunch. This has always been our go to spot for anniversaries and birthdays since it is close by our house and we love Asian fusion cuisine. I had the Pad Kra Pao eggs benny and my husband had the Shiitake gravy Katsu chicken rice. Both were amazing. Such great flavours. Eggs Benedict were perfectly runny and came with tater tots which is always a nice surprise. My husband really enjoyed the mushroom Katsu. Service was fast and friendly. We love the ambiance here which is another reason why we keep going back.

Came here with a group of friends for dinner as we heard many good things about this restaurant, and we're intrigued by their Asian fusion menu. We all got different items on the menu and all agreed that it was very good and different, and yet very filling as well. I chose the wagyu loco moco and it was very tasty and sweet, mainly because of the coconut rice. Some of my friends tried the carbonara and agreed that the sauce was very flavourful and portion sizes were huge. A few of my friends got their burger, as well as chicken and waffles and everyone enjoyed their meals, dishes were very different and delicious. Would love to come back to try more of the different foods here!

Personally, I felt like many of the dishes were elevated or fancier versions of Asian classics. The crab truffle chawanmushi was super creamy, with crab meat on top and truffle flavors. For $40...ya idk it wasn't anything crazy and I would have loved it with a bowl of rice (maybe that's me being too Chinese lol). But also I've seen other review of the chawanmushi and it seems like every time, the amount of crab on it is different. Mine didn't seem to have as much compared to the other pictures I have seen which just tell me that they have inconsistencies. It just felt like a lot to just be eating on its own. The mala cream udon was really tasty, I loved the creaminess, cheesiness, and the addition of Chinese pork and spices but it also felt like something that could be make at home. The tuna tataki came with only three pieces for $22, which felt quite small for the price. The flavors were good, but the portion was underwhelming. My favorite was probably the Basque cheesecake it had a rich, creamy texture with a slight hint of saltiness. The Korean fried chicken sliders were also great, the crispy chicken with a well-balanced sauce. For drinks, we got the Zazatar and Golden Pear, and both were really good. The Zazatar, in particular, was quite strong which I liked. While the food was enjoyable, it didn't quite feel worth the price. For this style of food, I think you could find similar options and flavors at a more reasonable price point elsewhere in Markham. Nothing of the dishes like blow me away which is why I'm saying this. The staff were very kind and attentive, which I appreciated. However, the timing of the dishes was a bit off. We received and finished the tuna, then the sliders came out, followed by the udon. Finished that and then we waited about 15-20 minutes before my main (the chawanmushi) arrived, which by that point my partner had already long finished eating. I understand that chawanmushi takes longer to prepare since it's steamed, but a heads-up or better coordination with the rest of the dishes would have been nice. Like severing the appetizers at the same time and serving the mains at the same time. Instead of having the dishes come out one by one and such a long wait between the mains. The space itself is beautiful, with an upscale vibe, great for catching up I don't regret trying it, but it's probably not somewhere I'd return to.

The Korean french toast has an amazing crunch on the outside and super moist and soft brioche inside. The four slices looked big but was very easy to demolish. PB & J Hamburger was interesting! That is definitely a brunchy sounding dish and it did not disappoint. It was a delicious, messy, goopy burger with so much flavour. Burrata arugula salad with long thin strips of prosciutto was very light. The fig wedges were sweet and this dish was a great starter without being too heavy. Rarely, would you find a place that can pull off being a brunch/lunch place during the mornings and afternoons and a club and lounge by night. On a Saturday morning where I was looking for a place to grab a bite and to kill a bit of time, I realized through Yelp that Sugar Cafe Lounge is actually open by 10am. I didn't even know they open in the mornings prior to this. The vibe of this place strikes me as a modernized Chinese karaoke place. It totally reminds me of the karaoke places that I used to frequent back in the day. They have the same black and neon purple/pink colour scheme. Dice shakers were readily available and visible. The modernisation portion can be attributed to the existence of a photo booth and kildult style cartoon characters wall stickers along the walls/window. And for a "club/lounge", the servers were definitely very polite and attentive which is a stark contrast to the service that you may come to expect in early 2000s karaoke places. My feeling towards the curry katsu egg Benedict is equally complicated. I think the dish has so much potential, but currently has several flaws. Let's start on a positive note. The hollandise sauce was a fit with the curry flavour. The built in acidity also worked to tone down the sauce's heaviness. But even with the acidity, it was a pretty heavy sauce. I like the taste of the sauce, but it's just too too heavy. The egg whites for the Benedict was a bit over cooked and getting on the rubbery side, yet the yolk remained runny. Which I found odd. The katsu pork is a bit on the smallish side and the batter did not seem like the Japanese panko style batter (seemed a bit closer to HK style). The pork was under seasoned, so the taste was hugely reliant on the sauce. They clearly used some form of milk bread for the dish. It's a decently thick slice, and it didn't seem like your typical wonder bread, but the bread also added to the heaviness of the entire dish. I have no clue how the vibe is at night or how busy it gets, but my feeling towards this place is a little bit complicated.

Came here for brunch for a girls day out and what a little gem! We came on a Thursday afternoon and…read moreit wasn't busy so I can't say how busy it gets on the weekends. I ordered their chicken kaarage with mochi waffles. The chicken was fried with a light batter. Crispy on the outside and the meat (chicken thigh) was moist and juicy. The waffles were crispy and chewy and stretchy with a hint of sweetness. The yuzu sauce was refreshing paired well with chicken. The dish came with a side of salad which helped balance out the heaviness of the fried chicken and mochi. We also ordered their pistachio souflle pancake and it was delectable. It was light, airy and fluffy. The pistachio sauce was creamy, nutty and aromatic without being too sweet. I also liked how it came with fruits on the side. I also ordered their hojicha latte, which was one of the best ones I've had. It was smooth, creamy, and had just the right amount of tea flavor. The milk foam had the perfect velvety texture and it came with a pretty latte art. Overall, I really enjoyed the brunch they offer here. It is a pretty simple cafe, so don't expect it to be all decked out because it's not those instagramable cafes. But the food were solid and it's a great option for a small group brunch as they don't have many tables and they don't have large tables at all (the best is to 4 people or less). Staff is very limited but it could be because we went on a Thursday and it wasn't busy. They have a QR code for you to scan and you can order directly from there and food came fairly quickly shortly after we placed our order. I would definitely return when I'm back in town.

We ordered using the App from the QR code and the food and drinks came after a short wait. The chicken karage was friendly fried, crispy yet juicy on the inside. The mochi waffles were perfectly done and although we were full we had to try the jiggly pistachio soufflé pancakes which were light, fluffy and not too sweet. It's a great space for conversations or to work from with comfortable seating and space. The only downside are the drinks being served in paper cups instead of reusable cups. Great place for Japanese brunch if you're in the area!
