Honey spicy pork kimchi panini, glass noodle salad, zucchini parmigiana salad
    Vincent H.

Even after just trying it once, I already knew Nook will be my number one sandwich place on King West. I'm sure its the same with many others, given how incredibly packed this basement cafe is every lunchtime. Their grilled panini was absolutely amazing, and they have so many varieties of fillings and sides to choose from. For lunch, you can either order a grilled panini by itself, or have it as part of a combo with either a soup or two sides. You can also get a soup by itself if you're feeling extra soupy. I tried their honey spicy pork kimchi panini with a side of japchae and a side of zucchini parmegiano salad, and I loved it. The panini was grilled to perfection, and was also very generously stuffed. Every bite I took oozed of the sweetness from the honey marinated pork and the spiciness of the kimchi. It was so much flavour packed in such a compressed profile, and somehow wasn't soggy at all. Their sides were rich and tasty too, and I enjoyed them. Nook is definitely one of the hidden gems in King West. At inexpensive prices with generous and filling portions, I highly recommend Nook for their grilled panini!

Checked out their evening menu on Friday. It's like tapa styles. Everything we ordered tasted great! We ordered Korean fried chicken- spicy, onion ring, chicken and gauc sandwich and pork belly wrap. My husband really liked the Korean fried chicken, it also has fried rice cake with it which we thought was quite unique. Definitely going back and try other items! There is proper social distancing between tables. Every table has a bottle of hand sanitizer and all workers wore masks.

Very great spot for lunch. Many options to choose from. Friendly staff. Great value. Healthy!

I LOVE Nook! I used to drop by for lunch with my coworkers fairly frequently when we were in office. Whether it's the paninis or the side salads, they're all delicious! (They have the standard salads, but there are also some Korean options like japchae.) They used to have a kimchi and pork panini that was SO stellar and my fav. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them to be honest.

Good enough I went twice during a week-long conference hosted down the street. The paninis are all reasonably priced at around $7 each, and of very high quality, especially the meat. The first time I went I got the chicken guacamole panini, which very much hit the spot. The second, I opted for the honey pork and kimchi panini with soup combo - the soup (cream of broccoli) was delicious, and so was the panini...though I would have liked a bit more kimchi on it. Overall, would recommend it to people in the city, especially if you want a quick, convenient take-away option near King and Spadina that won't break the bank.

Great lunch spot! Their paninis are ALL delicious, including their salads and soups too which change daily. They also have daily specials like bimbimbap, spaghetti. Would 100% recommend :)

Formerly Bakerberry's, The Nook is a great little lunch spot tucked away and hidden down a set of stairs off King Street West. You might miss it but just look for the bright green sign and head on down, you'll be glad you did. In an area saturated with lunch places to please the King West work crowd, Nook truly stands out. They have really, really great soup, sandwich and salad combos. Their grilled ham, pineapple and cheese panini that was absolutely mouth-watering. Their soups, all of the creamed varieties are also very delicious and on a cold winter day, nothing beats it. The place is busy, probably because of the great prices and tasty food. Come here early during the work week for lunch and make sure to try a sandwich - you won't regret it!

"The bright green stand-up sign is visible from King as well as ever-present awning making a difference for the otherwise tucked-in cafe. Even with their clean signage, we're not too sure we would have simply stumbled upon Nook when looking for lunch. This is where word-of-mouth makes all the difference. Everyone seems to know about Nook, and recommends it." "Nook specializes in panini sandwiches. There are plenty of them - chicken, turkey based as well as tuna and veggies. The best part of ordering a panini is that a combo gives you an option of their daily soup side or two salads side." "I must note, if you have a sweet tooth, they also make plenty of pastries. I personally am a big fan of their brownie - not too sweet, very chocolaty and filling, with a great moist texture." Just a few bite of our full review.

One of the fresher take-out places on King West, Nook is a reliable lunch spot with basic sandwiches and respectable side dishes. A sandwich combo with two small side servings like root veggies and rotini will set you back $10. The lines can be long during lunch rush but the service by kindly Asian ladies is quick and straightforward. Definitely a lunch favourite.

Kimchi homey pork sandwich with a double side of macaroni !!

Love love this place! If you're looking for a quick and cheap lunch, look no further! Run by a Korean family in a small little basement spot along king st, Nook offers a variety of panini sandwiches along with sides and soups. Seeing that I live and work closeby, I've been to Nook several times and it never fails to impress me. My go-to is the honey kimchi pork sandwich and the macaroni side. Delish!! They grill the panini to utter perfection and the macaroni has a slight sweetness to cut the spicy sour taste of the kimchi. For under $10, this is THE lunch spot on king st. not to mention the service is always fantastic. Keep it up Nook! See you tomorrow :)

I got 3 sandwiches for me and my family (4 people including me). What we ordered: Mona Lisa: 8/10 For both of the sandwiches the bread was very fresh and delicious! They make them fresh for each order and you can taste the quality. The flavours in the Mona Lisa worked really well together, I loved the truffle cream and burrata. Torino: 7/10 This sandwich was also good, but the I felt like it was lacking something, especially compared to the mona lisa. The spicy eggplant just tasted like plain pickled eggplant and wasn't that spicy. I feel like both sandwiches were a bit salty due to the prosciutto, and were missing some sweet or acidic element. I added some balsamic glaze and hot honey at home which was great! The portion sizes are HUGE, the 4 of us were quite full after splitting the 3.

This small little bake shop had a menu hanging up, but I completely ignored it thanks to the baked goods right behind the counter that I was too busy staring at. I knew right away that I was going to order a Chocolate Croissant because, well, I always order a Chocolate Croissant if one is available. After making my first choice, this strange little baked good caught my eye, and it turned out to be something called a Cruffin.......a Cruffin you say? What is a cruffin? WELL, let me tell you. The cruffin is basically like a muffin, but like, with cheese and pepperoni on it so obviously I hate to order that sexy little bad boy right away. This thing wasn't big, but it was very dense and basically tasted like pizza crust which was absolutely delicious. After eating the cruffin, the Chocolate Croissant seemed way less cool but I ate it anyway. It tasted good and the chocolate was actually spread across the whole thing so they get an even bigger thumbs up for doing it right. Overall, COBS Bread was the spot! I had no idea this was a chain, but who cares, this place was great. I really liked the Cruffin I got and the croissant was really good as well. I will absolutely be revisiting COBS Bread when I come back to Canada and devouring a few more cruffins while I'm at it!

The cashier was friendly and asked if I wanted either a cinnamon bun with icing or plain. I opted for a cinnamon bun with icing and she put it in a box for me before handing it over. During my time at the store the place had a steady flow of customers, coming in to buy baked goods. My cinnamon bun was big and tasted great! I heated it up a bit when I got home. You can really feel the care and personality behind the space, which added so much to the overall visit. We tried a variety of items, but the Pizza Caesar Wrap was easily the standout and our favourite thing we ate. Crispy, cheesy, messy in the best way, and packed with flavour. Even better, $3 from every wrap goes toward supporting Daily Bread Food Bank through their $30,000 fundraising campaign, which made ordering it feel even more worthwhile. We also really enjoyed the Spicy Ham & Cheese, which had the perfect balance of spicy, creamy, salty, and savoury flavours. The Gourmet French Hot Dog was another highlight with its sweet and savoury flavour combination wrapped in a buttery, flaky croissant. The Four Seasons sandwiches were a fun concept inspired by the Blue Jays, and while the Chef's Choice wasn't our personal favourite, some people at our table enjoyed it more than we did. For dessert, all of the cookies were freshly baked in-house and surprisingly good for a grab-and-go style spot. The double chocolate chip was rich and soft, and the white chocolate cranberry and macadamia cookies were both solid classics. The iced matcha latte with oat milk paired especially well with them, and the iced vanilla latte was smooth and easy to drink. The space itself is bright and open with big windows that bring in lots of natural light during the day. Seating is cozy, but the layout still feels spacious and comfortable overall. Overall, a playful comfort food spot that offers catering with genuinely friendly service, creative menu items, and a welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to come back.

I'm going to continue with my overtime take out review series with Sandwich Box. You would think making a sandwich is probably not the most complicated task out there, but this place seems to get it all wrong. My order consisted of an egg salad sandwich on whole grain bread with a side salad. When I received it, I only got the sandwich and the restaurant failed to tell me the salad was no longer included in the combo (yet the price remained the same). That's great that the online menu was not updated to include items no longer available, a simple update would address all these problems knowmsayin? Now on to the actual sandwich, the bread was thick. I mean so thick it looked like there was about a half an inch of eggs inside of two encyclopedias worth of bread. The eggs themselves, totally flavorless and bland. Kinda hard to mess up an egg salad sandwich right? Even Tim Horton's can get that right! To make things short and sweet, I'll be looking over this option the next time I'm working late or considering a sandwich in the downtown area.
