Since we've stayed here before, we were pretty clear on what to expect. Check in was smooth, the valet staff were super nice, and we had a fantastic stay. The jacuzzi room is definitely spendy, but we were dead set on it. My husband and I started a tradition a few years ago where we nixed Christmas presents and decided to book 2-3 day vacations instead. With this being our belated gift to each other, we knew we wanted to splurge. I'm fully convinced there isn't a room here that has a bad view. We had sweeping views of the water and once the fog lifted in the morning, it was gorgeous! The jacuzzi tub is a little finicky to get the temperature correct, but once we had that figured out it was great. It takes a bit to fill up (about 20 minutes) so just be ready. Silver Cloud at Ruston definitely is a little on the pricier side, but it's entirely worth it in my opinion!

In the quest to save money on electricity, the hotel has installed brilliant blue-white LED lights in most room lamps and all bathroom fixtures. Terrible idea. Why is this mentioned? If you're waking up, it's great -- but if you're trying to get some sleep, that frequency of visible light screams "WAKE UP!" Even though you're feeling tired, the light unavoidably wakes up your brain and body. Terrible idea. Hint: put warmer (white light shifted toward the red end of the spectrum) in the lights in the bedroom, and perhaps (if equipped) an overhead light in the loo, so your guests aren't robbed of sleep. Did I mention that this is a terrible idea? Minus one point. 2. The parking slots are on a slight incline. Why does this matter? There is no brake on the luggage carts, and if you're there alone (or solo-loading the bags onto the cart), it's exciting to have to chase the cart as it rolls away -- toward other cars. Unload your vehicle at the hotel entrance, or risk your 50-pound suitcases meeting the nearby expensive-to-fix Mercedes or Beemer. 3. The breakfast buffet: very unexciting. The coffee? Mehhh. Condiments? Almost non-existent. The few dollars in the tip jar? Find a Starbucks or Peet's.

The windows did not have screens and would only open a couple inches, as there was a screwed in metal bar preventing it from opening further. The carpets were crunchy. There was hair on our pillows. Something hit my ankle as soon as I laid down. Based on the cleanliness of the room, we opted not to try the breakfast the next morning and left as soon as we woke up without a shower. The room was basically on the freeway and was incredibly loud. It almost is not noticeable if you have the windows closed and the AC on. The fumes from the freeway come right into the room first thing in the morning, if you crack the windows.

The staff here have always been very friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The rooms have also consistently been very clean and well maintained, which makes for a comfortable stay. My only real complaint is the parking garage. It's extremely tight, so if you have a larger or longer vehicle, getting around and parking can be a bit of a challenge. Smaller vehicles shouldn't have much trouble, but it's definitely something to keep in mind. Overall, I've had consistently good experiences here and would definitely stay again.

I arrived and was greeted by staff with a glass of wine which was quite nice. I ventured out and grabbed some food to bring back to my room to eat. Many places to choose from nearby. At last.... My hot bath.... Nope.... The plug in the tub did not work and did not even appear to be the correct plug for that drain. I visited the office and the gal came to my room to have a look. She said she would call her mgr and get back to me. 30 minutes later... no call and no bath. I called the office and explained my situation and told her I would expect some type of compensation. I took a shower (not my thing before bed) and tried to go to sleep. The heat/ac in that room is either on or off. If I turned on the AC it ran nonstop and was very loud. I slept with it off and was sweating all night.... No happy medium. When I checked out the next morning I, again, mentioned the bath tub situation. The person working said she didn't think she could do anything more for me since I got a "discounted rate to begin with" and I responded that I had no bath and she responded "well, you had a shower!" She knew I wasn't happy and offered $10 off at which point, I was insulted, and told her I would be writing a review that would probably not be very pretty. As I was walking out she was saying.... ma'am, I'm trying to work with you; what would you like me to do? I left. The next day I got an updated invoice with a bit more off the bill than the $10 offered. Bottom line, if they gave me a "discounted rate" when I booked does that mean everything in the room should not be functional? I think not. I have a video of the tub/plug situation but was unable to upload it.

The hotel has a glass art theme as do the rooms. We have exotic glass lamps that glow from within. Lamp shades and covers also made from blown glass. This hotel is run well and feels very welcoming.

So we did that but still had to pay more because that didn't cover the whole cost of our meal. Our room was 3 doors down from the elevator... could hear the elevator all night. Our room itself was odd - no microwave and no dresser only the table holding the tv. We asked the front desk about the microwave (again, an amenity in the Patron Club room) and someone brought one to us which we had to set on the floor. (So odd.) Location of this hotel is nice but the rooms are iffy and service at the desk was unpredictable. The restaurant service was GREAT!
