Came from Hawaii drove down to Gainesville to try these cookies and I am more than disappointed!!!! First of all I came in at 1300 which is lunch time and the shop was EMPTY . I waited about 5 minutes knocked on the door said hello trying to see if anyone was I. I purchased 2 Chocolate Chunk, 1 Peanut Butter Chip and 1 White Chocolate Macadamia Cookies and this combo was top notch! My total was $10 and it was well worthy it. One delicious thing that sets this cookery apart from the others is the diameter and instant warmth and freshness of the cookies compared to others. Each bite is filled with flavor and melts in your mouth. The service and inside of the store front was welcoming, it was well lit and plenty of parking. On our drive up to the Panhandle, we stopped in Gainesville with the plan to eat at Pita Pit since we no longer have a location in Tampa. We got there right at 11 when they were supposed to open -- only to look inside and see construction everywhere. Well, with Insomnia right next door, we thought we'd at least grab a cookie or two for the road -- especially when we saw they had a "strawberry shortcake" cookie that caught our eye. The gentleman behind the counter said literally no one has come into the store right at 11 when they open, so they didn't have the strawberry one ready quite yet. We said that was OK, that we'd go walk to get a sandwich and come back. He said he would give us two of the strawberry cookies for free since they weren't ready, which was so nice (and unnecessary!). We got 6 cookies in all and split one of the strawberry ones on the drive while it was still warm. Oh man, what a delicious treat. Not too sweet, baked perfectly, and with a nice, chewy texture while still being slightly crispy on the edge. We decided to freeze the rest of the cookies so we didn't over-indulge on them. Insomnia cookies is a staple here in Gainesville for me especially as a college student. They seriously hit after a long study sesh. They are superior compared to crumble cookie and I highly recommend for those with late night cravings. Also to the yelper below me: I get that it's difficult to find dessert spots for those with gluten allergies and although it is disappointing for them to run out of that option so early in the night you're incredibly over dramatic and your review reeks of first world problems. It's complete insanity to accuse an establishment of attempted murder just because they ran out of the item you wanted. I recommend you check your privilege or check into a psychiatrist office. I am extremely disappointed with this location. My daughter has Celiac disease and we went to get a cookie at 7:30 pm and they informed us they were fully out of every gluten free cookie the store offered. This was extremely disappointing for my daughter as this was one of the only dessert stores that offers gluten free options in the Gainesville campus area. We went to dinner and didn't order dessert so driving back to our hotel, my daughter and her cousin suggested we make a quick stop at this cookie place. It was opened late so that was a huge plus! And of course immediately having a bad sweet tooth, I am always in the mood for something sweet. She got off and my best friend and I stayed in the car. I wanted to get the "loaded brownie" but they were sold out. So my daughter got me a chocolate chip cookie. It was rather small (compared to Crumbl & Night Owl cookie shops in my hometown) BUT the taste was all there. Very gooey, warm and delicious. The cookie literally melted in my mouth. My niece ordered vanilla ice cream with her cookie and although I am lactose intolerant, I knew I had to try it. I love that combination of a warm cookie with ice cream. But boy was I blown away with the flavor of the ice cream. Not sure if it's homemade or a specific brand they use, but it was delicious. Next time I'm in town, I will get off and find out what ice cream they use. So good! Maybe I'll get lucky and try the brownie and ice cream. That must be out-of-this-world!!!
