Great company. Love that it is local. Drivers are great. I prefer using this local company for deliveries.

The recipes are easy to follow, there are lots of choices on meats, fish or chicken. The ingredients are fresh and I really enjoy making them. The end result is far better than I could have done without the instructions and the prepackaged ingredients make for so much less waste of food. I love it! Glad I'm back!!!

The menu and instructions are perfectly clear and the meals are probably a bit different than what you normally make but not so exotic, different but still a wonderful departure from regular meat and potato's. When you subscribe you get the menu a week ahead so you have some choices on the protein. In our home my wife can't eat shrimp so I can change to something else including a tofu option. Sometimes I just buy a couple of boneless chops and toss the shrimp in the freezer. They come in handy as a quick appetizer at another time. It all works best if you have the proper tools, good pots, pans and knives. On that subject the recipes are spot on when they suggest pan/pot size. Also when it says not nonstick it always seems to turnout the last ingredients in a not nonstick pan are high acids foods like tomatoes or vinegars. That means you don't need the Brillo pad in clean up. There is also a personal connection from the owners. On rare occasions I'll get an email stating the avocado might still be hard or a mango not quite ripe. Advising not to refrigerate them, leave them to ripen and maybe plan as a later meal. I doubt Blue Apron or Martha Stewart does that. Just a bit of my research on other food services. One of the "big guys" meals are prepped in Atlanta, shipped to JAX then to your doorstep. Not so with locally shopped and owned. One last comment that may resonate with just a few folks. My wife retired from being a professional "foodie" in Sacramento. She knows food and wine. She is in later years of Alzheimer's now and working together in the kitchen has been a blessing, she preps and keeps me inline. Lots of folks in this situation have real issues with meals and Chef Ami has made it fun and provided us both with excellent nutrition. Maybe my last review as I'm likely to be flying solo in the near future but I just wish to pitch Chef Ami one last time.

Needless to say this the Metro diner truly surpassed my expectations. We walked in and were greeted immediately and asked if we would like to sit outside which is a covered area or indoors. We chose inside given it being a hot humid day and wanting that extra comfort. The vibe felt amazing with all the smiles and yes even though busy all the wait staff was hopping doing their business! We were seated and told about the specials and given the menu. I was unsure what I wanted because I think I could have eaten a little bit of everything! I did ask the waitress a couple of suggestions and one of them was the pancakes I had chosen. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner all day! How cool is that and rare. They had a chicken and waffle special that was actually half a chicken ( pieces ) fried with Belgium waffles, powdered sugar and sweet strawberry butter served with their signature sweet and spicy sauce. I'll be honest when I had seen someone else get their plate I was surprised. It looked absolutely incredible and well tremendous. On their specials they had banana pudding pancakes or waffles, this also sounded amazing. It had walnuts, butter and powdered sugar and definitely banana. I am most certainly glad that I chose this as it was incredibly. Super fluffy, flavorful and the banana was not overwhelming there was a perfect balance of flavors. There was a sauce on them that I assume was the banana pudding. It was light and just enough to not overpower the pancake itself. We had also ordered croissant French toast and my son absolutely loved them. They were crispy on the outside yet fluffy and flavorful with a fantastic texture topped with some powdered sugar. Some ordered hash browns, these were also delicious and homemade with a great texture and the portion like all the other dishes pretty large. We had all tried the biscuits and gravy. These too were delicious with such a nice balance of flavors. The biscuits indeed homemade. We were all very pleased with everything. Some eggs over easy and bacon cooked perfectly. The coffee honestly the best I've had in years. I'm a coffee drinker and I cannot figure this coffee was outstanding! I had four cups and wish for more ha ha. Best of all I must compliment the service. I have not been to a restaurant of any sort with such attentive service, quality service as we received here in years. The waitress kept refilling my coffee and water, brought my son more soda ( even a container to take his home ) asked everyone if they needed anything at appropriate times and was extremely kind and considerate. I will be back and I highly recommend the Metro Diner for a great meal, quality service and relaxed environment that you will enjoy. My friend and I met after we parked our bikes. She was sitting outside, and as I was locking my bike, less than a block away, she texted me. I just walked to her without responding, and with a smile and a hug, we walked in to look at the menu. The sandwiches have some very creative names that go along with their creative construction. I got a #10, which was a fusion of French dip and Philly cheese!! I wanna buy the person a beer, whoever thought of that one! Even though it was busy, we didn't wait long to order. Every sandwich comes in a paper bag, so you can take it out or stay and munch. We got a combo with chips and a drink, because how else do you eat a big sandwich like this?! There are board games to play, decor that is not typical and a big display of Guy Fieri, from the Food Network, that lets you know this place is on America's culinary map. After the sandwiches were done, I brought them out to my friend Kimberly, who was saving our table. We both were hungry, so out of the wrap and in with the teeth. Mine was full of flavor and the fact that all the sandwiches are heat-pressed, made the texture very satisfying. The au jus was thick and delicious and made me think someone took great time and effort to make it. It is a casual restaurant, great for a date or a group of friends, or a solo quick lunch, that can also be a dinner as well. The food is somewhat pricey, but it delivers as a good meal with a creative touch. They could have emptied the garbage can more quickly, as it was more than overflowing, when I went to throw the garbage away. Memorable food, and makes me want to come back to try at least two other sandwiches that I read about.
