a car at a gas station
John M.

Wawa has certainly expanded its presence throughout Florida and that is certainly good news for Floridians, but for Floridians who relocated here from eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey, it was bringing a piece of home down here to the Sunshine State. Wawa is so much more than a simple gas station. Yes, it features a multitude of gas pumps offering competitive prices and I applaud them for offering air for your tires from an air pump that does not require a payment. Should be common sense, but most gas stations have decided that they can generate a few more dollars by charging people to put air in their tires. Wawa goes above and beyond in customer service by letting people get air without a surcharge. But for me and I would hazard a guess that endears Wawa to most of us is the food that they offer, mostly their subs (what they call hoagies due to their original locations). These subs, er, hoagies are freshly made 24/7 and many, myself included, have ended an evening festivities at a Wawa grabbing an end of the night snack in the form of one of their subs, hoagies, or whatever you want to call them. They have both hot and cold sub/hoagie things, as well as other foods like breakfast sandwiches, bagels, bowls, etc. I also have always liked their pretzels, available at the cash registers. Oh, speaking of their food, keep an eye out for Hoagiefest, where they offer any sub st a discounted price. Truly a good deal. So, yes, I recommend Wawa. I would almost climb a mountain to scream its praises for the four winds to carry to the far planets of this world (perhaps even going so far as to reach my home state of New Jersey). Check them out, you will be a convert.

This is the plain burger when you add all the free ingredients.

I know there is a worker shortage and all, but just got a big order and it wrong all kind of ways. First off, no quinoa to make the brisket bowl and they waited until we checked in then asked do we want rice or mashed potatoes. Then, only got one kids meal, not two, so we were waiting while they made that. Then got home and the bowl was actually not a brisket bowl, and instead was a black bean bowl with spicy stuff in it. So I paid like three dollars extra for the brisket, but I did not get any brisket. Tried to call and was on hold a while, then the system hung up, then called again, and on hold a while and person answered and hung up, them called again and so much on hold, and that time stayed connected and they gave me a refund. What a bummer. The whole reason I did WaWa was that they have all these brisket items that are new. Gonna try again but maybe try for brisket mac n cheese, which is brisket on top of mac n cheese. Anyway, WaWa is good for food, but I would definitely say that you should only order one item and then definitely open it and poke around with a fork and make sure that you actually got what you ordered, instead of it got mixed up with someone else's order. A big order (7 things) was way too complicated. So... The food: The plain burger with all the free fixings (that are not spicy) was amazing. I think the sweet peppers did it. Also got sweet pepper cherry sauce, which looks gross in the pic and was super drippy but tasted great. The plain burger with bacon looked amazing. Child that ordered that was angry that he did not get a kids meal although he had picked burger and fries. He ate all of it, though. Lol Kids meals were ok. I got them for little kids. They are halves of subs and have a little and are better for older kids. I would say 5 and up. For little kids the shredded lettuce can be messy. Chicken penne was not so exciting. The Alfredo sauce was definitely flour based. It has cooked pasta and chicken and steamed cherry tomatoes served on a bed of fresh spinach. There is no way to customize with fancy stuff, but if you get nacho chips, you can order sauces for those in a cup on the side and so can customize anything that way. It is an expensive way to customize, but when I've eaten at WaWa in a group, it's a good way to get lots of sauce for all the dishes. The brisket bowl... I think they got my order mixed up with a vegetarian because I got a black bean bowl with no brisket. It also had fried pickles in it, and think I had maybe ordered pickles, but definitely did not have an option for fried, so I think I got someone else's fancy order. What a bummer. It tasted good, but had got cold by the time I got through on phone to find out do I have to exchange or show it. By the way, all the WaWas are great for travel and quarantining. You can order on the app and it's like 10 min until pickup and they do curbside. Great for getting a half gallon of milk and simple groceries with no minimum order. And, for locations with outdoor seating (this one has outdoor seating), which is good for stopping for lunch while on the road because can order and then get the food and eat outside. Because this is in Gainesville (I think) they have paper compostable bowls and burger clamshells. This did not do well with the alfredo sauce and drippiness of the chicken dish, like I didn't feel it was great for leftovers overnight. Fine to get home though.

Italian sub

They have the best quick subs in town. You can order the sub via their app and it will be ready to go when you get there. It's a fantastic value for $5.

Individually wrapped for your protection.

This is one of those top notch Wawa locations for sure. I come here quite often since discovering…read moretheir food selection and their quality is one of the best in Gainesville. Service is always friendly and I have seriously no complaints. I've had everything from salads to quesadillas to breakfast burritos and know this year I'll be doing some more rounds trying their entire menu.

I was picking up a Doordash order and this cashier, "Ma V" was extremely rude to me. I waited in…read moreline to ask her for the order because there was no pickup rack and she attempted to belittle me for not seeing the "pickup" sign hanging from the ceiling in the area that had no employees in it, directly across from her counter. So, you want me to wait over here where there is no one to help me instead of asking you to do your job and prepare an order that should already be ready in the first place? No. Every other Wawa in town has a delivery pickup rack in a certain place. I looked for it in this store, too. It wasn't there. All you had to do is have the order ready. It is not a flex to not have the order ready and act like you don't want to be there. I don't want to be here either. Thank you to the young lady who actually did get the order ready, I apologize for not getting your name to recognize your kindness and quickness. Wawa, you might want to watch "Ma V", whatever kind of name that even is, I don't know, but she definitely needs more training in customer service.
