I had read about the hype of Cookies and Milk, a late night cookie delivery services in Sacramento, and secretly wished for its arrival in Davis. Why not? It's a college town and this kind of business seems like a good fit. So imagine my utter glee when I discovered that Insomnia Cookies had opened in Davis! And imagine my excitement when I discovered the store was on the Treat Trail on Halloween in Downtown Davis and were handing out, no, not candy, but warm, fresh cookies! It was clearly one of the biggest highlights of Halloween afternoon 2018 and for good reason. The cookies I tried (I broke off sizable pieces from my children's Halloween bags) were warm, soft, chewy delights. I tasted the peanut butter cookie and the oatmeal cookie. Both were delicious and would order them again. Better yet, the cookies are only $1.70 each so will not break the bank. I have no idea how the delivery service works, but for walk-ins in search of a quick and tasty dessert in downtown Davis, I have just the place. read more

This place is just like Cream - ice cream and cookies = cookie ice cream sandwich. Nothing special besides them staying open until 2am, hence , the name "insomnia." Taste is as expected... not exciting. They do not have a large variety of ice creams or cookies. read more

So disappointed in the chocolate chip brownie I purchased yesterday at full price ($5.45). Not only was it not warm (as they advertise), but based on how dry it was, it was at least two or three days old. I would've said the service was good, except they never should've sold that brownie. read more

Cookie delivery until 2:45am?! Enough said. It's hard to find places that satisfy the sweet tooth so late at night, so this plus the added laziness that delivery provides, makes Insomnia Cookies a great option! I do think the cookies are on the pricey side for the portion but at least they were delivered warm and gooey. The delivery was also super fast! I think we got our cookies within a half an hour of ordering them. I would also recommend checking out their "deal of the day" because we were fortunate enough to get some free cookies out of it! We got chocolate chip (the regular and the gluten free/vegan), snickerdoodle, and white chocolate macadamia nut. My favorite was the snickerdoodle. It had a good chewy, soft texture. I typically don't like warm, gooey cookies so I put my in the freezer for a minute to get them more chewy. I know I'm weird. The macadamia cookie wasn't bad, it had a lot of chunks and I prefer a more even cookie-to-chunk ratio so that's probably why it wasn't my favorite. The chocolate chip was my BF's favorite because it was nice and gooey. I thought it had too many chocolate chips whereas he thought the amount was great! He also like the gluten free one because these were more gooey than other GF cookies he's used to and they were less chalky as well. read more

If I had only gotten the chocolate chip cookie, this review would have been 5 stars, easy. I removed a star because we got a 6 pack and two of the other kinds were just....meh. The snickerdoodle was a bit dry and the Mac nut was also old tasting. But the chocolate chunk cookie....bruh. So good. Without exaggeration the best chocolate chip cookie I've ever eaten. So good. read more

This place really hit the spot if you're in need of a sweet treat! When I first arrived I was greeted by the person at the front counter. He immediately assisted me and welcomed me in. So, in the customer service aspect, that was great! It's small inside, I think most customers opt for their items "to go" as there's only a few chairs inside from what I remember. There's also seating outside, which would be nice on a warm day. After browsing the various choices of ice cream and cookies, I decided on the vanilla and chocolate ice cream with a chocolate chip cookie and it was delicious. It does sound like an overload of sweetness, but it wasn't. The ice cream was nice and cold and didn't have much of an overly sugary flavor as some ice creams do. Also, the chocolate chip was tasty and I do believe it was semi-sweet. It a quick visit, thanks to being a Yelp Elite, so I was in and out. The customer service was awesome as well. If you're in the area and looking for a nice dessert spot, I highly recommend Insomnia Cookies. read more

I checked out insomnia cookies the other day and really like the idea that they deliver until 3am! The staff was really friendly, however my only issue with it is how expensive their menu is. Each cookie is about $1.70, and two cookies with milk is $6.80. Personally as a student, with rent always rising, I think this is too much. However, i tried the chocolate chip cookie, and it was good, but nothing that blew my mind. They also have cookie sandwiches like cream except cream is a $1 cheaper. Another cool thing they do is make mini cookie cakes that you can get for birthdays and other events which take 45mins- 1 hour to make but they are $12.35 ~ which again i think it's too overpriced. read more

Ordered cookies at 8:00PM. 10:00PM: delivery drives arrives, calls once, leaves after 2 minutes. 10:30PM: finally get off of hold with the store, tells us they will redeliver. 11:30PM: get a call saying the cookies have been delivered. No cookies in sight. 11:45PM: finally get a hold of employee. Says the delivery driver got into the dorm building, went up to the fourth floor, knocked on our door, and handed us the cookies. This never happened. 11:50PM: second call with another employee: claims the cookies were left outside the building 15 minutes ago. No cookies to be found. 12:00AM: sad realization that cookies will never arrive and we will be cookie-less on this cold, sad night. Not happy. Very sad. read more

Bewaee No cash! Card only. Tonight i stopped in from Napa to try these cookies. Well ordered, all smiles and warm cookies. Well i go to pay and the kid says no cash. Not even exact change. Only cards. Which i didnt have. So not only did my kids not get any cookies. The kid behind the counter stopped helping me and gave me the dirtiest look like i was some beggar because i didn't have card payment. The cookies were half the size of Crumble and the employee didnt say im sorry. No sign just stopped helping me. No thank you. read more

I'm leaving this review here now because I contacted customer service and never received a reply. My kids love when I bring them in here for a treat and the cookies are seriously addictive and delicious..the reason I didn't rate just one star. Unfortunately, when I took my young kids in to purchase some, the employees working in the back had super inappropriate music clearly blaring and they made sure to scream-sing along to the c*nt and b*tch lyrics while we waited for our order at the counter. Super not ok. It would have been nice to at least receive an apology or something saying they'd follow up to make sure it doesn't happen again. If so, I would have continued using this business. Now we've found another treat place. read more

Definitely disappointed with the service today. My bf and I usually order from here and the cookies are delivered shortly after. Not sure what happened this time but I received a text at 9:33pm saying they would be here soon. Finally at 10:46pm we received them. The cookies were also cold, so it was a bit hard to enjoy them after the wait. The delivery drivers are usually pretty quick, but there was something off today. I understand that it's possible someone new delivered our order, but I still think it's ridiculous that it took an hour and 15 minutes from when we ordered it, to actually receive the item. read more

Wonderful! The fact that there is another cookie spot in town is not only fantastic, but will be well received (given they DELIVER!!) The storefront is very simple, thankfully, but makes sense right? Why overthink it? Cookies. Nice people. Delivery. I'm sold. Who doesn't like a warm, gooey cookie? It's good for what it is but I'm not sure if I want to go back and pay almost $2 after tax for a bite-sized cookie (okay, maybe two bites). I think I'd feel better about it if it was even $2.5 for an actual cookie you feel guilty about eating. I got the white chocolate macadamia cookie without the ice cream but it was way too sweet. Actually like grainy sugary sweet. I can only assume it'll be sugar overload as an ice cream sandwich. I may be bias because I think Cream is sugar overload as well but a lot of people seem to like it. I've seen Insomnia Ads and was intrigued when I saw that they do taro cookies but they didn't have it. Maybe it's a seasonal flavor? read more

The cashier was brand new to his job, so it really wasn't his fault. We watched the manager ignore him while he struggled. Really yummy cookies, went there around 11pm and glad they were open. I'm so thankful they're still open in the middle of this Corona mess. I run a small business and I met up with someone to make a delivery in Davis. But I live in fairfield. And I was craving some good, fresh cookies. I had been trying to perfect the chocolate chip cookie recipe and with constant failures for weeks. All I wanted was a good cookie, but I prefer to buy from local small businesses. Found this place on yelp, which was literally around the corner from where I was. I purchased a box of a dozen cookies. 3 plain chocolate chunk, 3 m&m chocolate cookies, 2 peanut butter, 2 snickerdoodle, and 2 white chocolate macadamia. It's only been a day since I've had these and I've taken at least a bite from every single cookie. They are ALL SO freaking delicious to PERFECTION!! Immediately when I got in my car after buying these, I tried the M&M and I also ate a whole white chocolate macadamia cookie. They were warm and soft and super fresh. They've truly nailed it. And it's the perfect comfort food for these stressful times we're currently in. And a good plus? The person helping me and ringing me up was so friendly and super sanitary! They have hand sanitizer for the customers, and the clerk was wearing gloves and a mask. Like a good mask. I live all the way in fairfield, but I'm considering making the 30-40 minute drive once I'm out of cookies. That's how delicious they are. Period. read more

First time going here with my friends and will not be going back. Two workers upfront were very rude, no greeting or anything. We mistakenly walked past the 2 people at a time sign (there was 3 of us) and they rudely let us know. They stared at us while we were deciding and when I went outside to see what my other friend wanted the girl with black hair rolled her eyes to the girl with red hair so we walked out. Don't go here (: not friendly or inviting at all, we felt really uncomfortable. read more

I placed an order to be delivered to my grandson at college at 7:32 AM Eastern time (4:32 AM Pacific) to be delivered to his dorm at 5:30 PM after his Chemistry exam. They contacted him at 5:30 to tell him all they had was gluten free cookies. I called the customer Service number and they told me the ordered been canceled (without consulting me) because they ran out of cookies. I asked how this was possible as I had ordered so early in. the morning. I was told they bake cookies as they need them and when they run out, they run out, even if an order that was placed. If people walk in and want cookies they sell them without the ability to honor an order. To add insult to in jury they told me my money would be refunded in 5-7 days! Not only did they not honor my order, but they are keeping my money for a week. This is an awful business and I want everyone to know how they operate. read more

I ordered Insomnia Cookies last night as a birthday splurge. They did not disappoint. We ordered a selection of cookies (pretty much each kind on the menu, but not the "deluxe" ones), and they were delivered within about 40 minutes, were still warm and gooey (and delicious), and the milk that came with them was icy cold. The cookies are a bit pricey ($1.70 each, or about $1.50 each in the 36 cookie box that we ordered), so this will probably not be a regular thing, but for a splurge now and then, I would highly recommend Insomnia Cookies. Delicious cookies and fast delivery service for lazy people. :) read more

my experience: a college is not a college town until insomnia cookies are there. this place opened up fall of 2018 and has been a big hit in davis. it is located in downtown and the hours are pretty great for a college town. they also do deliveries which is great. i have walked past the store many times but i have never gone in. for my birthday, my friend ordered them for me and they got delivered to my dorm. i am on campus and i did not expect someone to come to my room and knock on my door. i am not sure how the delivery guy got up to my room but it definitely shouldnt have happened and i was expected a phone call at 5 pm to walk down and get it. food/price: she ordered for me 3 chocolate chip cookies + milk ( an offer she got!) plus 2 cookies: chocolate chunk and snickerdoodle. i was not the biggest fan of the cookies, although they were served warm. the snickerdoodle was not baked all the way (which is fine because it is a cookie after all) and the chocolate chip was just alright to me. the only thing i would have to say is that the size is inconsistent and if you look at my photos you can see that one is way smaller than all of them. they tried to hide it at the bottom and i understand since it is a deal, they didn't give the best looking cookie. however, i do not think that i would pay $3 for a cookie that small. price - 2 for $6.80 the total with delivery for this was $10.29 (delivery $2.99 + tip) service: not sure how they are in store, but weird that someone was able to get to my dorm and stand outside my room. notes: i would come try it but a little pricy! read more

I have never encountered service this terrible. The lady in the front (short brunette) greeted us by yelling to close the door, then refused to allow anyone to use the restroom. Very cute little shop in downtown Davis! Perfect for a quick dessert and an even better late night snack. Cookies are served warm and soft. Even after being left in the cold car for a few hours, they remained soft and intact. All of the flavors melt perfectly together. Price is okay for the quality of cookies. My friends and I got three 6-pack boxes filled with snickerdoodle, sugar, chocolate chunk, white chocolate macadamia, mint chocolate, and double chocolate chunk. My favorites were the white chocolate macadamia and snickerdoodle! Overall, cookies are good and customer service was great! I will definitely be returning when I am in town. Recommendation: snatch the first parking spot you see and walk because downtown davis is typically hard to find parking in! read more

I do not say this lightly, but, I FRIGGIN LOVE COOKIES. I've been complaining for literal years that we didn't have a cookie spot in Davis. I constantly want a warm cookie and I almost never have access to one. Until now. Insomnia cookies moved in recently downtown and I was excited to see them finally open their doors. Their cookies are moist, warm, and just straight up delicious. There is also ice cream to choose from, they deliver, and can do all sort of specialty cookies. The downside is that there is a $3 card minimum and each cook is about $1.60 so you can't buy just one cookie and pay with card. I get why that is the case, but it can be pretty frustrating and would dissuade me from coming in if I really only wanted one cookie. Overall, I'll definitely keep coming here, and I'm pumped it's in Davis! read more

My friends and I came to Insomnia Cookies last Thursday night after doing the usual downtown thing. Upon stopping in here, we were promptly and politely helped by Luke and Ethan. My friends and I weren't the greatest at deciding which varieties of cookies to order since there were so many that looked appealing, but Luke and Ethan were super accommodating to us so that we would be set up with a really good variety based on our group's wants. We were very quickly given our (warm) cookies and devoured them so quickly I almost couldn't remember how good they were. Great experience, I look forward to coming back again! read more

We came for the gluten free cookie (which normally is great!), but not today. The girl at the store explained that the gluten free cookie's ingredients were the same but they were just marketed differently. So we said "is it gluten free"? and paused and said .. "I think so?" We explained that this is allergy related so it's super important we actually know what we're buying, to which she explained "it's just new marketing." All the while we're literally standing in front of a sign that says "Gluten free" and she would not confirm it's gluten free. We were so unsure of what was going on with this employee that we decided to leave. I don't think we'll feel comfortable going back unless a manager wants to explain what the heck just happened. read more

Can't really go wrong with warm cookies. We ordered a chocolate chip one and snickerdoodle. Both were warm, buttery, and soft. Not sure why everyone is outraged about the price. They've gotta make a profit somehow selling individual cookies otherwise they wouldn't stay in business. Really enjoyed the chocolate chip...I could've had like 10 of those. read more

I have not tried their delivery service, but I just saw they were open the other day and went on in. The premise is very similar to the nearby CREAM, but I believe they charge more. I do like that they have nutritional information on their menu, which is hard to come by at dessert places. The cookies are a little overpriced, in my opinion, especially for a college town. But hot damn, they're really good cookies! You can also get a crap ton of ice cream with toppings. I plan to go back and try out a cookie sandwich at some point and some other cookies. I tried the classic chocolate chip cookie and it was delicious. It's great that they have a vegan/gluten-free cookie option. I hope they expand that to have more flavors and to include ice cream soon. This place has quite some potential! I hope to try their delivery option soon too. Glad to have it here in Davis! read more
