*** Deluxe Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup *** $3.50, Grade A You can't walk down E Street without being hit with the smell of freshly baked cookies. It's the equivalent of the Cinnabon smell at every mall -- they get me almost every time. It ain't easy saying no to the dough and after my first of many visits to Insomnia Cookies, I'm happy to report the cookie taste equally matches the expectation of the cookie smell. So, the menu is simple. Traditional ($1.75) versus deluxe ($3.50). How much cookie are you craving is how you decide here. From my first experience, I say order the deluxe, eat half or more than half, and save the rest for later. It's a large and thick cookie -- not quite BJ's Pizookie size, but pretty close to your own personal Pizookie. Will I Go Back Test? Yes. I've already returned a few more times since my first visit and if my wife is downtown, she always texts me, "do you want a cookie?" She doesn't even need to say from where, Insomnia is a given. There are signs everywhere to remind you that the cookie is warm. They need to add "delicious" to their signage as well too. The thickness of the cookie itself helped balance the general sweetness of a Reese's peanut butter cup melted over the cookie top like a Salvador Dali picture. If you don't like borderline too sweet cookies, this might take your blood sugar levels to new heights, but check out my suggestion below to get you on board. Great to pull a piece off or just grab and sink your teeth into the whole thing. This cookie is really a treat. Suggestion: So, I loved and enjoyed the first half of the cookie walking the downtown grid. I purposely saved half to test my personal Pizookie theory. In essence, it's big enough for a lunch dessert and a dinner dessert. So, although the cookie was no longer warm, it was still super soft and tasted like it just cooled off the rack. Placed it on a plate with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and okay ... theory proven. I preferred it with the ice cream because it helped take the sweetness level down a few notches. Other Menu Items: They have ice cream available. Vanilla, chocolate, cookies and cream, cookie dough, rocky road, mint chip, coffee, and strawberry. I'm not sure where they get their ice cream from, but if you don't have any vanilla at home, order a scoop with your cookie. You won't be disappointed. If you just want ice cream without the cookie, order by medium, pint, or quart. Cookie flavors: Tradition size -- chocolate chunk, M&M, sugar, peanut butter, snickerdoodle, oatmeal raisin, double chocolate mint, white chocolate macadamia, double chocolate chunk, and chocolate chip brownie. Fall flavor ... caramel apple pie. Deluxe size -- triple chocolate chunk, chocolate peanut butter cup, and s'mores. Hours and Delivery: Warm cookies can be delivered, yes delivered, until 3AM. Bottom line: Warm cookie without having to turn on your oven. They are large and can be eaten by itself or with ice cream. Insomnia Cookies is very similar to another ice-cream and cookie place in downtown Davis (ahem-CREAM-ahem). You get a selection of warm cookie variations, and if you want, you can add ice-cream to them to make an ice-cream sandwich. The place is open very late so if you're one of those all-nighter college kids... this might be a viable option for you if you crave the middle-of-the-night munchies. I came to Insomnia to give their cookies a try. I went for two deluxe cookies - the s'mores and the triple chocolate. In terms of taste, I'd say they were very tasty. They come to you nice and warm and the chocolate is gooey and messy. The taste is just as you'd expect... but nothing more than that. It's hard to mess up a warm cookie! I didn't get the ice-cream, but I think having some with the cookie would be great - I'd just feel like a fat pig afterwards. My biggest gripe about Insomnia Cookies is the price. You are paying quite a lot for cookies. The deluxe cookies I got were near $4 each! FOR TWO COOKIES it was almost eight bucks! YIKES! It was pretty off-putting having to pony up that amount - it definitely makes me think twice about going there to get anything. My Rating: 3.5-3.75/5 Stars I honestly have only been to Insomnia Cookies three times before. However, 3 times is definitely enough to make this review :) First of all, their cookies ARE pretty good, that's not in question. Very heavy handed in the butters/oils used BUT, what are ppl expecting?? No one eats cookies for health my guy! So if you're trying to be healthy, DEF do not frequent this place more than just occasions of rewarding yourself for being good. Haha Secondly...it smells SOOO freaking amazing in there!!! . Had no idea an Insomnia Cookies was opening in Davis! I first heard of the chain when I visited my friend at Harvard and thought it was such an adorable shop, never thought it'd come to my alma mater. It's near impossible to resist when the aroma of freshly-baked cookies is wafting down the whole block :-') We popped in for a quick dessert after dinner! The shop was small but lively with the chatter of peppy employees. There were only 3 barstools available as seating-- it's definitely the type of place to just order and dip. CHOCOLATE MINT COOKIE & WHITE CHOCOLATE MACADAMIA COOKIE: Super soft and chewy! The chocolate chips were melting with every bite ^_^ While warming the cookies shortened the ice cream's longevity, the cookies themselves were so gooey & delicious that a touch of melted ice cream was a worthy sacrifice. ROCKY ROAD ICE CREAM: Mega average. I'd rather have a pint of Halo Top LOL. There's no question why their cookies are their namesake. A little expensive for two cookies and some ice cream ($6!!) but given that Davis' late-night food options are so limited, it's a nice little something-something (and arguably, better than CREAM). The cookies were good once they got delivered. The first order didn't make it to the designation so I had to call and inquire what happened to them. They said the driver likely left outside the dorm, but didn't call to say they were there. The store made a new order, however, they had the wrong address on campus, but fortunately this driver called to verify and they were able to meet at another location on campus to deliver. read more

I've been here tons of times the last year or so and I have never been disappointed in this location. Staff: 10/10 I have seen quite a few employees here but the two that stand out are Aly and Carlos. Aly is always incredibly welcoming and informative. Carlos is very smiley, comes across like a friend you knew in high school and treats you like a best bud. Both of them and all the employees I have met pass the vibe check. I don't have a huge sweet tooth but getting a chance to chat with these guys for a couple minutes is worth the extra calories. Food: 10/10, cookies are always warm, and the ice cream creamy and smooth. I've been to Insomnia cookies all around California, the only place that comes close to this one is down in Irvine. Came here on a whim after dinner on a Thursday night with hubby and another couple. I've heard about it but never have been to. I know they're more know. For their warm cookies, late night hours and delivery service. It was quiet when we walked In I got a deluxe s'mores cookie which was pretty epic warmed up cause the mash mellow was nice and gooey. Our couple friends was telling us how they haven't had the vegan/ gluten free cookie the last couple of times they were there. They finally had it this time around any they were super happy. The cookies look much bigger then creams cookies. Super friendly service will definitely have to be back here again another time to try out their other cookies and Ice cream. So far, I have tried the: -chocolate chip cookie -m&m cookie -snickerdoodle cookie -double chocolate chunk cookie -deluxe chocolate peanut butter cookie And while they taste fine, they're not THAT good and aren't worth the calories (the deluxe cookie is over 500 calories!!). Insomnia Cookies is the best! I always make a stop whenever I'm in Davis. They serve fresh warm cookies that melt in your mouth upon first bite. Their best cookies in my opinion are their snickerdoodles and the white macadamia nuts. My friends and I usually share a box and when you bring home a pizza box full of cookies, you are the winner of the party! Since their cookies are ready and fresh, there's usually not a long wait and they serve you quickly. My friends and I shared a box of 6 cookies for $10. Came here after going out to the bars in Downtown Davis. I didn't even know this place opened until my friend brought it up, and I was determined to get a warm cookie to end the night. It's a pretty small shop; only a short, skinny table against the window. They've got an assortment of cookies and ice cream and you can choose just to have a cookie, an ice cream sandwich, or there's also an a la mode option, where it's just one cookie or brownie with ice cream on top. I got a double chocolate chip cookie, and it was pretty good! It wasn't as warm as I was hoping it would be, but the chocolate was still ooey and gooey and I was a happy camper. The cashier kind of forgot about my order (lol) but was quick to apologize and ended up giving me 2 cookies instead of one. Points for great customer service. The only thing is the price. For the regular cookies, it's $1.70 per cookie... a pretty steep price for an okay cookie. Like it was good, but not that much more exceptionally good than any other cookie I've ever had. PSA: there's a $3 minimum! I had to borrow money from my friends because I did not have enough cash. There was also no sign posted anywhere informing customers of the card minimum. This is something that should be added because I'm sure there will be plenty of people trying to buy only one cookie, but have to end up buying more just to meet that minimum. So disappointed in the chocolate chip brownie I purchased yesterday at full price ($5.45). This place really hit the spot if you're in need of a sweet treat! When I first arrived I was greeted by the person at the front counter. He immediately assisted me and welcomed me in. So, in the customer service aspect, that was great! It's small inside, I think most customers opt for their items "to go" as there's only a few chairs inside from what I remember. There's also seating outside, which would be nice on a warm day. After browsing the various choices of ice cream and cookies, I decided on the vanilla and chocolate ice cream with a chocolate chip cookie and it was delicious. It does sound like an overload of sweetness, but it wasn't. The ice cream was nice and cold and didn't have much of an overly sugary flavor as some ice creams do. Also, the chocolate chip was tasty and I do believe it was semi-sweet. It a quick visit, thanks to being a Yelp Elite, so I was in and out. The customer service was awesome as well. I saw this place just opened up and decided to try it this weekend. I got there around 7:30 pm on a Saturday night and it was packed with many people. There was only one person working there making it a little slow pace. There were many college students inside. I can see this place being just as popular as Cream. To my surprise, there was a vegan and gluten free chocolate chip cookie available. This has been one of the best cookies I've ever tried!! The chocolate chip cookie was still warm and just melted in your mouth. They weren't hard cookies but very soft cookies. A normal cookie itself is just $1.70. You can get the cookies in different packs either 6,12,18, or 24 cookies. These cost anywhere from $9.55 to $34. You can add toppings to the cookies and even get ice cream in between them. I've been hearing about insomnia cookies for a while now, and I'm upset that I haven't tried them before! They are pretty big (I couldn't even get through one in a sitting). Each cookie has a different consistency based on the flavors. The S'mores cookie has a crunch to it like you would expect if you were eating an actual s'more. The Chocolate Peanut Butter Deluxe is filled with peanut butter (it's quite heavy but still really balanced in terms of sweetness and amount of peanut butter). The Triple chocolate is one of my favorites. It has a LOT of chocolate, but it's a good take on an original chocolate chip. The Salted Caramel was good (It's a good balance of salty and sweet and very big) but compared to the others it probably ranked last. Either way you definitely can't go wrong! read more

It was clearly one of the biggest highlights of Halloween afternoon 2018 and for good reason. The cookies I tried (I broke off sizable pieces from my children's Halloween bags) were warm, soft, chewy delights. I tasted the peanut butter cookie and the oatmeal cookie. Both were delicious and would order them again. Better yet, the cookies are only $1.70 each so will not break the bank. My kids love when I bring them in here for a treat and the cookies are seriously addictive and delicious..the reason I didn't rate just one star. Unfortunately, when I took my young kids in to purchase some, the employees working in the back had super inappropriate music clearly blaring and they made sure to scream-sing along to the c*nt and b*tch lyrics while we waited for our order at the counter. It's hard to find places that satisfy the sweet tooth so late at night, so this plus the added laziness that delivery provides, makes Insomnia Cookies a great option! We got chocolate chip (the regular and the gluten free/vegan), snickerdoodle, and white chocolate macadamia nut. My favorite was the snickerdoodle. It had a good chewy, soft texture. I typically don't like warm, gooey cookies so I put my in the freezer for a minute to get them more chewy. I know I'm weird. The macadamia cookie wasn't bad, it had a lot of chunks and I prefer a more even cookie-to-chunk ratio so that's probably why it wasn't my favorite. The chocolate chip was my BF's favorite because it was nice and gooey. I thought it had too many chocolate chips whereas he thought the amount was great! I checked out insomnia cookies the other day and really like the idea that they deliver until 3am! The staff was really friendly, however my only issue with it is how expensive their menu is. Each cookie is about $1.70, and two cookies with milk is $6.80. Personally as a student, with rent always rising, I think this is too much. However, i tried the chocolate chip cookie, and it was good, but nothing that blew my mind. They also have cookie sandwiches like cream except cream is a $1 cheaper. Another cool thing they do is make mini cookie cakes that you can get for birthdays and other events which take 45mins- 1 hour to make but they are $12.35 ~ which again i think it's too overpriced. read more

No cookies in sight. 11:45PM: finally get a hold of employee. Says the delivery driver got into the dorm building, went up to the fourth floor, knocked on our door, and handed us the cookies. This never happened. 11:50PM: second call with another employee: claims the cookies were left outside the building 15 minutes ago.
