Even though I stood at the counter while my husband started looking around, neither of the two workers said "welcome, we'll be with you as soon as possible." I realized that they were with others (within 6 feet of us), but I've been recognized in busy places before. I waited for 10 minutes, and one of them even helped a new arrival 10 minutes later. We put a couple of pairs at the customer desk and sat down, and they still didn't acknowledge us. A "We'll be with you in 45 minutes" could have sufficed. At least then, we could have left sooner than after more than 30 minutes of wasting our time.

I had an appt at my usual eye doctor but had to reschedule they couldn't reschedule me for another…read moremonth so I was looking for a bunch of other optometrists in the area to see if anyone could get me in quicker, I came across lens crafters and they could get me in the next day, when I first got there we were greeted and the woman at the desk and the sales women who were there were also super friendly and helpful, they were able to get me back super quick and start my exam, after she did the usual eye measurements and the puff in the eye we sat to wait for the doctor and I don't think we were even waiting for more than 5 minutes, I was honestly expecting it to be a while cause everywhere else I've been including my usual Dr I literally wait for at least 30 min minimum so it was a pleasant surprise, the doctor was very informative, professional, and super nice, I had my exam for contacts and was able to try on a sample pair of the kind that i normally wear, they had them on hand and was able to leave with them in my eyes, that was also a surprise to me cause I've never been given a pair while I was there but I was so grateful for that cause I ran out weeks ago so I've been wearing glasses and was bummed that I was going to have to wear them for a few more weeks till I was able to order a new box but now I have a few weeks of a set till my other ones come. I honestly go to my other doctor cause they're in network with my insurance and cover 100% of my exam but with the experience I had today at lens crafters I will gladly pay out of pocket and get reimbursed by my insurance to have the quick and friendly service I had today :)

I got bad glasses from them and after two years of trying to get some resolution, my claim was denied. The lenses were made wrong the first time so I took them back. The second time they were worse than the first. Totally made incorrectly. I would never recommend this company to anyone and if you do go, be prepared to go back several times to get your prescription correct, and then have them take no responsibility for their actions. One of the responses showing world class experience! Yes that was me, world class experience in the negative. So I just went with glasses thinking I had to pay for a whole extra exam out of pocket if I wanted a contacts prescription. Plus they have a extra contacts fitting fee they wanted to charge me that I've never heard of before from other eye doctors. Then, after I had the exam, they printed my benefits, and we chose frames at a price that would be covered by my insurance, I was then told (after I had already had the exam) that my insurance is actually out of network and if I don't commit to buying glasses from them today they are going to charge me out of pocket costs for the exam. Super frustrated with the overall experience at Standard Optical in the Provo mall and will be finding a new eye doctor.

Their glasses are wildly overpriced -- the price I would've paid for their cheapest frames with insurance at this is still way more than I paid at Costco without any benefits. Ordering contacts proved to be a total mistake. I placed an order in October 2022 and was told "supply chain issues" had them backordered until March but they assured me it would be sooner than that. Since this store took my insurance, I went ahead and ordered with them but ordered a 3-month supply from Glasses.com to fill the gap. Glasses.com had them at my door in under 1 week! Since I was still unsure about how my insurance would cover another location, I kept my order with Standard, under the impression that I should have my contacts by February. Nope. When I checked back in March, they pushed the delivery date back to April, and to their credit, gave me trial contacts to fill the gap. Every time I called to follow up, the date would be pushed out further and further. Now, it is JUNE, and they have no idea when they will have my order. I can't get my money back because I'd lose the portion that was covered by my insurance (this would not be included in a refund they said). I feel stuck -- my contact Rx will likely be outdated by the time I actually get them!

They're not too busy, and accept walk ins, so it is more convenient than other optical places. The employees were nice, but don't expect to get to browse glasses without major hovering and constant questions from them. For some, that might be great customer service, but for me it was too much. Since there are only a couple employees there at a time they're really personable, but somewhat slow--if somebody's working with them ahead of you it's not unreasonable to expect a looong wait. As far as the less good, you have the optometrist. My exam was fine, efficient even, but I tried to ask some more questions afterwards and he couldn't have been more awkward. He literally didn't even make eye contact and started walking out of his office while we were still talking to rush me out with short, non-descriptive answers and obvious discomfort. If it weren't for how helpful the employees were with pricing, I probably would've hated my visit overall since he was the worst doctor I've ever seen, but they were running a special half off lenses and frames if you paid without insurance and were so helpful to compare the cost with my insurance vs. with their deal and changing a lot of other variables as I made up my mind so that I could get the best price.

This is my second time we have used this business. The first time- not too bad but I went in a few…read moreweeks ago for a contact lense exam and it was just horrible. Now I will say, everyone that work behind the counters are all very nice but my exam and subsequent interactions were the problem. My exam was later in the afternoon, and the pre eye tests (glaucoma, eye pressure, corneal topography, and OCT (that I paid extra for), were a mess. The technician did not wipe the machines (I did it myself) and she had to do the test where they flash the bright light in your eyes 7 times! She kept saying the machine was not getting close enough.....but she controls how close it would get! I had such skewed vision and a headache after all the flashes. When I saw the Dr (Winward) and I came in the room, he was looking at his pc, didn't look at me and just said sit down. He did the exam in less than 5 mins, he said my eyes had gotten a bit worse and that my astigmatism was a bit worse. We spoke about lenses for astigmatism and off I was sent out. Only after I left did I realize he didn't even discuss the extra scan I paid for- I had to wait to go back and ask him and he said "it was fine". Every other dr I have seen would put it up and discuss the health of my eye etc. When I was paying, they were charging me extra for the lense exam, even though my insurance covers it and when I questioned the extra charge, the technician said it must be for 'the free trial lenses' Huh? If it's free why am I paying for it. I paid rather than argue. Then after deciding to not use astigmatism lenses, I went by to pick up my regular prescription, and noticed that the script somehow (based on last exam) had gotten better??? How so, when the dr said my eye were worse- I can barely see with my old script, and now it's better! Absolutely not going to spend money to buy lenses for that prescription. I have scheduled an exam a real optometrist. Save your money and find somewhere else to get your eyes checked.......

Fortunately I had a brother coming down the next day, so I called around for some help and was told no by everyone in the valley. Then these guys answered, and they were so happy to help! They managed to find 2 trial pairs in my exact prescription! They put together a little bag of contacts, solution and some spare cases in a bag for my brother to pick up on his way down, all completely free! They were so kind and so eager to help, and absolutely saved my vacation. If you are in Utah and need some contacts, these guys are the best!
