Most of the people were nice, but when I made the appointment, I was told it would take 45 minutes to an hour. The whole appointment took 2 HOURS!!! They took me back 10 minutes late, and after the tech did all the tests (which took an hour), the doctor took 45 minutes to come in and see me. It's not okay for things to take this long - we have lives and things to do. If something could take 2 hours, they should tell you that upfront. read more

I'm so impressed with this place! I had to get in for a strange eye issue that came up suddenly, and these guys were able to get me right in to an appointment the same day. The place was so easy to find and it's a beautiful well kept office. There were several receptionists to choose from ready to help and each were mature and professionally dressed and groomed; a great face of the business. I was self conscious due to my eye issues but they gave no impression of being anything but compassionate as I filled out paperwork. I didn't have to wait for more than 4 or 5 minutes to be called into the doc's office and Dr. Christensen came in a moment or two later. He was professional and friendly. He asked good questions and was so helpful! He was dressed in shirt and tie, clean cut and professional looking. I was impressed from start to finish. I was in and out of there in less than 30 minutes and the prescription he gave me has been excellent for my condition. We're new regulars here, we've decided. We loved this place! No one cares about you, they care about how many patients they see a day. we drive a total of 3 And half hours and they couldn't take 2 minutes to do a consult in my daughter that was suggested by their doctor for surgery, but wanted her to drive up the following day. I made an appointment with Dr. Michael Christensen stating I needed a prescription for hard contacts and also glasses. Once there and in the exam room I reiterated the need for hard contacts as well as glasses. They dilated my eyes for this exam. The exam was completed and they sent me on my way home. I asked about getting some dark glasses for the drive home in protection of my eyes from the sun but they stated it wouldn't be necessary. The drive was a total nightmare. With the dilation it made everything blurry and obscure. I had to put on top each other 2 pair of my sunglasses in order to see to drive home. Dr. Michael Christensen called me later to let me know he would not be giving me a prescription for the contact lenses because he felt that I should go to his specialist for another exam and get surgery for cataracts instead. I tried to discuss with him reasonably why that is necessary and part of his reply was i m as y be getting cataracts soon and having the surgery would alleviate the need for contacts or glasses. He was very condescending and totally refused to send my contact lens prescription and only sent the one for glasses telling me even if he sent me that one the lenses would be in the $10.000 range. I have used hard contacts for at least 50 years and have never had an issue with any other Dr. Perscribing them for me so I'm not sure if he may be getting a kickback from sending me to a specialist or not (my personal opinion for the recommendation possibly). He seems to be more interested in money than doing what the patient wants and needs (with 50 years of their own experience) than for what you have actually paid him to do. I would tell everyone he is not, in my opinion, a competent Dr. And should look for a professional who has some experience in this type of situation. They certainly have the state of the art equipment, but what lacked was communication throughout. As I entered several rooms for different tests, I felt like I was expected to know what to do, what was being done in that room and why. It was awkward. Also because of what I was witnessing between a more seasoned tech and maybe a new tech, I didn't feel confident in test results. I will give them another chance though. read more

I was looking for a good eye center near the area to get my new prescriptions, and I loved UVEC! They have incredibly nice staff, very clean facilities, and are very helpful with all your questions. We've had a great experience with the doctors and reception staff here. But I just had a rude experience with the optical department. My current job is with the city, so I am constantly yelled at and treated poorly--which is sadly expected. But being treated poorly as a customer is kind of wild. The optical assistant was super rude as we walked in. I called prior, asking if I could come order glasses really quick as I knew they were closing soon. But I knew I would be quick. When I walked in, I asked if I could order some glasses, and her exact words were, "Well we close soon and it's already 11:36, and I can't stay late and neither can (whatever her name)." So I asked if it's not enough time then, and I'd be fine to come back. She then proceeded to say, "Well it is, but just hurry." Ok, not a big deal at all. So I picked a pair within literally 5 minutes, and then waited. I had been working all morning and I was just hoping to order glasses quickly. I'm never a complainer--- but treating your customers rudely is wild. Not to mention out loud, in front of other customers. Lowkey love this office, but I'm for sure ordering glasses anywhere but here now. read more

Horrible front office! ZERO STARS, if it were possible! We had to get in for emergency eye surgery, and this office was the only one available on super short notice. Their service has a quality rating of a government agency - slow, demanding, and have zero incentive to make the customer experience pleasant. Their bottom line is to collect ridiculous copays and to have you wait as long as possible for as little service as possible. If you could squeeze blood from a turnip, this office would be the inventor, innovator, and top business in those categories. They truly shine at the concept of IDGAF. There is a saying .. one bad apple can ruin an entire batch. This what exactly happened in my most recent visit in the first week of 2025. My bad experience with one UVEC's staff assistant by name of 'Eva' was very disappointing. Right off the bat, you would know that this individual do not want to work with a customer. Very unprofessional. With a rating range 1 to 10 (with 10 as the highest), I would my overall visit to a 2. This all comes down on how you would treat your customer. I would recommend to UVEC to place a customer comment card at their front desk counter to get an immediate assessment on how UVEC staff performed at the end of the day rather than having an online survey that would take longer and, all awhile, the cycle of bad attitude and behaviour by a few staff continues. I would appreciate if UVEC would remind their staff that customer interaction is vital in the overall customer loyalty and appreciation of any business. Especially in these challenging times. I didn't take any pictures here, but if I could describe Utah Valley Eye Care in two words, it would be "caring service." This location has sleek design, what seems to be the latest technology, and wonderful staff! I walked in and was immediately received by a receptionist and an eye doctor's assistant. Each was friendly and helpful, and made sure to answer questions and anticipate my needs before I had any! The assistant knew exactly what he was doing, and all the right things to ask. I did have to wait some time afterwards in a room by myself before the doctor came in, but when he came, Dr. Haggard was thorough in his practice and recommendations, but also so kind as to stop and learn more about me before and after our visit. Despite a busy schedule, he was sure to take some extra time getting to know me! The priority he gives to great care and personal visits is wonderful! There is a great selection of eye care here, and I have never had a problem getting what I need on time!! read more

Need an eye doctor? Well even if you don't think you do you probably should go anyway. First of all they can probably make you visions a little better than it is and you probably don't even realize it. Secondly an eye exam can give a early warning to a lot of different health problems so it's worth it even for that. And your health insurance probably covers it so why wouldn't you go? And as long as you are going you should go to a guy that knows what he is doing with a great staff. This is the place to go. And Dr Haggard is the guy to see. Then if you wind up needing to get something to help you see a bit better while driving at night they optical shop here is great. read more

Thank the Lord that my primary care doctor referred me to an Ophthalmologist,. Dr Jeffrey Gardiner. My appointment with him was very professional. He is a very knowledgeable eye doctor and on Monday the 18th of April, I have cataract surgery on my R eye and May 2nd on my left eye. I am happy with HIM. However, as far as the Utah Valley Eye Center (Optical Dept.), I would never recommend anyone going there to get glasses; especially if you have had cataracts for years and the optometrists say you don't have to worry about them. I had three exams by "Doctor?" Bird. Each one over a period of a year was different, slightly, but different. 4 pair of glasses were made up during that year, and I still couldn't see clearly with of any of them. After complaining for that year, I told the manager I wanted my money back because someone should have referred me to an OPTHAMOLOGIST!!!! He says Dr Bird sticks by his diagnosis. If you are "older" (I am almost 72), don't see an Optometrist!!!! Go to an Ophthalmologist, (Medical Doctor) who will check you for cataracts and not give you his "opinion" that your cataracts aren't bad enough for surgery. He doesn't have the machines that give you the clear view of how bad your cataracts are. As an Optometrist, he should be knowledgeable enough to know that he should refer me after 4 pair of glasses I can't see with, that I need am Ophthalmologist. Suffice to say, I did get most of my money back for poor service. By The Way: The Ophthalmologist my primary doctor recommended is IN THE UTAH VALLEY EYE CENTER about 20 feet down the hall in that same eye center. read more

Dr. Bird was genuinely concerned with making sure I was seeing as clearly as I could. After coming in for an exam, he let me try several different options for contact lenses and each time, prompted me to come back so he could examine me. This was my first experience with optometry, seeing as I have fairly good eyesight. I needed a general eye exam to see if I needed reading glasses. I came on time, did all the paperwork... They forgot to check me in, so I waited an extra hour, and then they kept switching the rooms I was in. My doctor, Dr. Haggard, was a little too "nice"... He kept calling me gorgeous and touching my hands and legs without consent. Obviously I felt very uncomfortable with this and if I ever have to check my eyes again, I will be going to Costco. Making comments about my appearance and touching any part of my body is NOT acceptable and Dr. Haggard should be talked to about this behavior and reprimanded (at the very least), as I found a comment from 2 YEARS AGO that mentioned advances made by Dr. Haggard. Obviously he hasn't changed much, and that other comment leads me to believe that other women have been under the same type of treatment with him. Unwelcome sexual advances are terrible for your company, so I would be very active in dealing with this type of behavior. Not just this, but the lady who helped me pick out glasses was condescending about what I needed in my glasses, and wouldn't let me choose what I wanted. OVERALL I do NOT recommend coming to this place for eye services. read more

I went in for a routine eye exam and was placed with Dr. Haggard, who dilated my eyes. Dr. Haggard was a little too friendly and creeped me out because of the comments he would make. The next day my vision was extremely blurry. I could barely read my phone or see the computer screen at work. I was scared I was going blind! My vision isn't very bad normally, but I wear glasses at night when driving. I called the eye center and they got me in right away. I stayed for about 2 hours doing various tests, getting my eyes dilated again, and finally they figured out that I had fluid in my retina! I had to go to a retina specialist next door, who said I had some hereditary syndrome, but later found out that was not the case. I was misdiagnosed and put on steroids to get the fluid out. Within a week, my vision was back to normal. This occurred about 3 years ago, but to this day I still believe it was from the dilation that Dr. Haggard performed. My eyes have NEVER reacted that way immediately after an eye exam/dilation. Beware of this office, because I could have saved myself the trouble and out of pocket expenses paying for something they caused. read more

I will never go back here! I was treated condescendingly by each of the ladies helping with setting me up with glasses. Their choice of glasses were not what I would wear and the first lady kept telling me, "It's the style" even though it was not my style, she didn't care how I felt. One of the ladies was rude to my husband and I had to go back 3 times as the glasses were incorrect each time. I was made to feel it was my fault and one lady, when told by another coworker to remake the glasses, she stated "We've already done one redo!" He had to tell her it was their mistake the glasses were not correct. I have never been treated so bad by any business! The manager, Lisa, was kind when I told her I wanted my money back, she saw to it that I was refunded the full amount. read more
