One star would be too good of a score. I have enjoyed cable TV in at least a half-dozen other markets with no problem in service. The digital signal dropped every two or three days and sometimes daily. Customer service was no help as they insisted it was a problem on my end. Service Type: Internet Only 50 Mg for $100 per month. If I could give them zero stars I would. This past Sunday I was forced to call due to constant disconnections. The tech watched as packets dropped and said he would schedule a tech to visit our home on Wednesday between the hours of 3 pm and 5pm. I was told I would need to be home for them to complete the test and exchange the modem. At 4pm I had to take a business call. At 4:02pm a restricted call came through on my cell. No voice mail left. At 4:05pm a call from an unknown number came through, they left a voicemail. I checked the voice mail while sitting on the conference call and it was Time Warner explaining that the tech attempted to reach us and since we failed to answer they are rescheduling our appointment. I became irate and terminated my conference call, since at no point did their tech attempt to drive by my home. My front door was open and my car parked in my driveway. The CS I spoke w/ at Time Warner at 4:10pm told me she doubts she could catch him. I said you have to be joking. From 4:02pm to 4:10pm and no drive by. She said she would work on it and call me back. That was Wednesday, I have yet to hear back from them. I have ordered Windstream and will discontinue my account of 5+ years next week. read more

The absence of competition permits Insight Communications silly pricing structure. My wife was misinformed by a service rep. and canceled part of the digital package containing a channel I like. Two hours later I discovered the channel was not working and called to get it reinstated. Insight increased the price $3.00/month for the package containing the channel. Lexington needs a choice of cable providers. Allowing one provider encourages acts like this. It permits packaging of seldom watched channels with a couple of higher demand channels and over pricing. Allowing one provider allows over pricing and 30 minute "on hold" experience I had today. Our city council should demand better customer service for the sole provider of communication services in our community. read more

I just sent the following to Insight via their website: My brother-in-law, Brad Burton, who lives at the below address, came into your office on Monday, March 5th and signed up for classic cable and phone. He was put on the schedule to get the aforementioned installed on March 7th. So far 3 different Insight technicians have visited his home and come up with one excuse after another as to why each technician could not complete the installation. On March 3rd Brad got his elderly father out of a nursing home and brought him to live with him. Typically, all his father does (in this case WOULD DO if you people ever get around to installing the cable) during the day is watch TV, eat, and sleep. PLEASE get him hooked-up. Also, Brad should be given some kind of credit on his bill due to numerous problems (not all of which are mentioned herein, created by your company's lack of customer service. P.S. You should add a choice "I am "trying" to become an Insight customer, but can't due to Insight's incompetence. read more

I wish we had better options for cable in this city. The only reason they don't get one star is they very seldom have outages and they provide the services they promise. Heaven help you if you have any need to contact or deal with the actual company though. Their customer service is a nightmare. I gave up on using the e-mail account that came with my service when they told me that if I wasn't using Outlook Express they could provide no support. Even if it was an issue on their side, if I was using any other e-mail program they couldn't assist me. When I had my cable installed, their installer came in and was downright creepy. Making small talk, I mentioned about how I had just joined the National Guard and would be shipping out for Basic Training soon. The installer then launched into a lengthy story about how he was an ex-Marine that got a Bad Conduct Discharge and started bragging about all the highly illegal things he did in the military and how he was able to plea-bargain our weasel his way out of the most serious charges, and doing so with great pride in how he managed to avoid a Dishonorable Discharge that he admits he probably deserved. By the end, I was fearing for my own safety just having him into my home and was quietly being ready to call the police or grab a weapon if he tried anything. He left without incident once he was done, but having to put up with someone who brags about his multiple sexual assaults he got away with and the thefts he committed but was never caught for is not something I should have to put up with. Their phone system for calling customer service in general is like the worst "press one for annoyance" maze you'd see in a bad comedy movie or sitcom. I dread every time I have to call it for any issue, it's like the entire system was set up to discourage callers. I also dislike their tendency to arbitrarily raise rates without any announcement or explanation. Using the same services, suddenly you get a bill that's about $20 larger one month because they raised your rates with no notice. read more

I am an Insight Cable customer in Lexington, Kentucky. I understand Time Warner recently purchased Insight Cable for $3 billion. I have been with Insight Cable at different residences throughout college, and totaling approximately 8 years. Most recently, I've had Insight at the home my wife and I bought when we got married about three years ago. I have enjoyed Insight's service over the years but am very frustrated with the billing. When I originally signed with Insight I was paying in the range of $90-100 a month for HD services and Internet. When I recently called to speak to an Insight representative because my bill had been increasing in the range of about $20 per year, I was told that over the years as I am with Insight my beginning rate grows and I pay more. Well, I've been with Insight at my residence for about 3 years now and my bill has steadily risen to $146.07 per month. As a customer who has remained incredibly loyal to Insight (I will never harp on the customer service or quality of the product), I am appalled at the lack of loyalty shown in return. I have worked in international sales, growing my company's brand in a market where gaining customer trust and building loyalty is most important. I can tell you that it is exponentially EASIER to keep a current customer than it is in spending money to find NEW clientele. I would imagine that rather than pay more year over year, Insight would reward such loyalty with better rates and "pay it forward" and thank their customer. I'm disgusted at how I have been treated on the phone when I tried to explain loyalty to Insight's customer service representatives. It is unfortunate that they do not share a respect for maintaining customer loyalty like my company does. I understand Time Warner is a large company but no company is ever too large to not need to maintain and prioritize loyalty and long-time customers. I used to pay $50/month for 10MB/s Internet alone, but the signal was crap and the modem ALWAYS needed restarting. As an apology in the buy-out by time Warner, they offered us 20MB/s plus phone for $30/month. Our signal has been even more crappy! Perhaps the infrasucture sucks in Chevy Chase/Montclair, but shape up or get ditched!!!!!!! A few days later... Ditched it is. The deceptive call center failed to mention that it was an "additional" $30/month. Speed is not noticeably faster (so far max 10MB/s In a speed test), drops all the time and I no longer have international calling. Plus, it seems like they have sold our new phone number to telemarketers! We get a couple marketing calls a day for my husband already. Hello Windstream, goodbye Insight! read more

I wish I could give this company 0 stars. They are by far the worst internet/cable company I have every dealt with. First of all, $50 for 10 mbps is horribly expensive for internet especially when it drops all the time. Also, good luck dealing with them if you have a problem and beware of the shady deals they offer. When I transferred service from one apartment to another, they said I could get basic cable for an extra $7/month. I figured why not and signed up for it. That extra $7/month was actually $19/month!! I was outraged when I got my bill. I called them and explained what I had been told but they said there was nothing they could do. I promptly cancelled the cable. They also raise prices for both internet and modem-rental without letting you know. So you will get your bill and it is suddenly $10 more than the month before. This company has the worst customer service ever and they will bombard your mailbox with shady offers almost everyday. read more

DO NOT BUY. This company's service is terrible, especially if you are a gamer. Their routes to major streaming services such as twitch.tv are extremely poor. Even at their "high speed broadband" you will have difficulty consistently watching in HD qualities. More IMPORTANTLY, Insight will SCAM you out of your money. Cancel their service? Fine by them! Oh, but they are going to charge you for an extra month. In secret of course. Even if they tell you they are stopping (yes this is my story) their service, that you are receiving a refund, and that no more payments are coming, they will still charge you. Their call teams are awful. The management is always 'too busy to take your call', even if you call early in the morning, the afternoon, or right before closing. It makes no difference. They do not want to waste their time on customers. They are interested only in your credit card. Hopefully google will crawl out of the Midwest, come to Lexington, and crush this terrible company. Do NOT buy this service. If you MUST, then beware of their higher speeds if you are a gamer. They make no difference for you because of how bad their pathing to servers are. read more

ZERO STARS!! (this site requires you put at least one though.) Insight is now Time Warner Cable, and they are terrible! Everything was fine with insight, except the occasional customer service issues and waits, but Time Warner is 1,000,000x's worse!! Patchy service, terrible customer service, constantly adding services and charging to your bill without your permission and hoping you won't catch it and just pay for it! oh, and make sure your payments actually get processed-especially if you have it set up on automatic payments- they don't take it out and blame you so they can charge you late fees. They are crooks!! Trying to call customer service to report an issue is a complete waste of time- you will be on hold for at least 15 minutes and still not have talked to anyone. I was on the phone for over an hour once for them to fix absolutely nothing. If you are thinking about getting Time Warner- DON'T DO IT!!! I currently work for Insight, but don't want to disclose the location for fear of losing my job if they read this. Let me tell you, they are anal retentive about sales and whenever a customer calls in for ANYTHING, it is our duty to SELL SELL SELL. That is truly Insights #1 priority. They gave us all a 'playbook' which is basically full of false data about our competition. Some examples include, Windstream locks you into a contract, has very bad accounting practices...b.s. like that...basically if we can make something 'good' up, we can use it. I truly hate my job, but am unable to find anything else with the economy. It really sucks that you have to work EVERY holiday, including Christmas so the big wigs at Insight can make a dime while they spend time with their families. We get a lot of garbage calling in, but essentially it is our job to get out of issuing credits. We get a lot of calls regarding rates increasing and are ordered to tell them it is the cost of great service...bullshit. Insight BB is pretty good, but our cable service is an absolute joke. For SD channels 1-70, it would cost $56. When you try to sign up, they will try to put you into a 'bundle' package and sell you broadband and cable. As a CSR, let me tell you not to fall for it. It looks like a GREAT deal. What the CSR's and salespeople don't tell you is that when you first sign up you essentially pay for 2 months worth of service. I have had countless pissed off people calling in because their first bill is $400. I have to lie to the people to keep my job and tell them that we had explained this to them...very sad. Also those 'bundles' will increase about $20 after the first year. Finally that 'free' wireless home networking isn't really free. It is incorporated into the cost of the broadband service, whether you need it or not. Finally that 'free' wireless home networking they promise isn't really free. They incorporate a $5 charge into their standard broadband service, whether you want it or not. Insight is a corrupt cable provider and definitely needs some local competition. Insight charged me $5.00 twice for the same On Demand movie on the same day. I only have one set-top box! The customer service representative said the charge is valid. She said she had no idea why people do that (rent the same movie twice on the same day) but they do. I do not recall even accidentally requesting the movie twice - but even if I tried, it should not be possible if the movie rental time is 24 hours, and I only have one set-top box. Insight should only want me to pay for the services it provides. Anything else is fraud. read more

I'm a new customer and soon to be ex-customer. I made a big mistake switching from DISH to Insight cable. What I learned today: average wait times before a real person answers the phone: 9 minutes. Get this, Insight Communications cannot transfer between departments (told that by customer service rep) - like from customer service to technical support - and this is a communications company!!! They have to send an email or physically walk a request over. Oh, and I was just told by a second Insight technician to address the lack of synch between audio and video on my TV that it is a systemic, technology issue that Insight cannot fix.
