cozy bar with the nicest staff
Lisi M.

I'm surprised to see the negative reviews! for what we paid for ($150 for a sunday night) this hotel was perfect. THE GOOD beautiful grounds super friendly staff allows dogs at a super cheap rate beautiful views heavy bar pour THE MEH the room is basic, we didn't come to stay in the room and didn't expect anything crazy if they allow dogs and hotel is so reasonable would stay here again in a heartbeat

Gorgeous view from my balcony

This is my 4th time coming to this inn and I really love it. The king suite room has a full bay view and a semi-private balcony. My room has a shower only - no tub, small fridge, and a Keurig coffee maker with coffee. There is an outdoor pool a few steps away and the inn is close to a golf course. The front desk staff are super nice and helpful. It's about a 4 hour drive from LA (due to construction on the 101). The parking is free. The on site restaurant and bar is nice and there are other restaurants about 10-15 minute walk.

The lobby and bar are gorgeous. The view is fantastic. There is designated dog area in bar and a daily happy hour with simple food. Cocktails excellent. The grounds are nice. We had an issue with room but manager, Carrie, was very helpful and gracious. She fixed the problem to our satisfaction. Much appreciated. Has pool and spa. Location! Right on bay near golf course and state campground

We were extremely pleased with our stay. My young daughter and I decided to last minute a trip over here. We booked and headed over to one of the only available room during busy spring break. Joseph was super friendly and helpful, met us with a warm greeting, super after hours. We appreciated him being so helpful and welcoming so much. The rest of our stay was great! Cold fridge, hot showers, and super nice room. Highly recommend.

Dog food in room

PROS: beautiful views from restaurant and from ocean view rooms only. Cute room decor, overall nice room, clean new fake wood floors, great pillows, nice comfortable mattress, new bedding, very polite staff, nice am coffee set up in lobby. I think it'd be nice if guests were allowed to enjoy the restaurant seating before the restaurant opens. Cons: Pricey, NOT walking distance to anything (very misleading advertising), kibble dog food left in corner of bathroom floor and closet (but otherwise felt very clean), almost empty shampoo/conditioner w missing body-wash, cheap thin comforter, no blackout curtains with BRIGHT lights shinning through shutters all night, a bit loud from garden room till 10 pm jacuzzi people and young kids. The restaurant on property has BEAUTIFUL VIEWS but pricey terrible food. The lobster was a joke/looked like a shrimp, the steak was not cooked to order, the fish and chips had cold french fries. Very understaffed waitstaff (very slow yet friendly). I'd say just get drinks and an appetizer to enjoy the view and drive to other more reputable restaurants. Not a terrible stay but definitely will not be back. We want to stay on moonstone beach road in Cambria w/hotels across from ocean, beach walks 20 steps away and amazing restaurants 4 min walks away.

Love the quiet location. Room quiet. Dog friendly. Bed comfy. This was perfect for my two nIght get away with my dogs; $25 a night per dog. Older facility with some upgrades. Clean. Check in was super easy (bookings.com), exceptional customer service. Dog friendly lobby, restaurant on site. Walking trails adjacent to property.

Stayed here for the July 3 and 4th. This place is great, nice views, good staff. The hotel is dog friendly, a nice patio restaurant for the animals. The rooms are spacious, good lighting, and nice fireplace. The restrooms were a bit ugly with unfinished patched work. For the place being older, it was an oversight. Great food at the restaurant with excellent prices. I would recommend this place.

It was our first time here and was dissapointed due to the brown water in the bathroom. We were told that they just did a repair, and it should pass. It did but they could've transfer us to another room, they didn't. The view from the restaurant was nice though.

Exterior walls next to the room

I have family in the SLO area, so when I visit, I like staying at the Inn at Morro Bay. The rooms are tastefully decorated, the sheets and towels are always clean, the staff is consistently kind and courteous, the restaurant is fantastic, and the views are absolutely stunning. That said, the property could use a bit of TLC. The exterior would benefit from a good power wash, the carpets are ready for a deep clean or an upgrade to vinyl flooring, the room walls could use a wipe-down, and the bathrooms need some attention--especially to tackle the common issue of mold (a better fan or vent might help). Still, despite these minor issues, I'd rather stay here than anywhere else in Morro Bay. The positives far outweigh the negatives. Visiting Morro Bay is my time to slow down, unwind, and soak in the incredible scenery.

Not enough space in bathroom.

The location of the inn was great--it's just a short drive from downtown, which made it easy to explore the area. Unfortunately, my overall experience was a bit of a mix of highs and lows. When we first arrived, I was disappointed because the pictures on their website didn't really match what we saw in person. The inn is definitely older, and you can feel it--it has that musty smell and a dated vibe. I did take pictures after our stay, and while I kept the room clean, it honestly looked about the same as when we got there. One thing I noticed right away was that there's no central AC or heating. Our room only had a fireplace, which worked fine for January, but it was really cold when we first arrived. We were able to warm it up by keeping the fire going, but I kept wondering how they handle the summer heat. The bathroom was super small, with barely any counter space, which made it hard to get ready. What really drove me crazy was that there weren't any long mirrors in the room. I brought some new outfits with me, and it was frustrating not being able to see how they looked. It's such a small thing, but it really made a difference. I also expected there to be robes in the room, but there weren't any, which was another letdown. The bed wasn't great either. It was so soft that I felt like I was sinking into it, and if you sat on the edge, you'd just slide right off. It wasn't the most comfortable sleeping experience. We tried the dining area the first night for dinner and happy hour, but the service was disappointing. Nobody greeted us, and we were told to find a seat on our own. Even after sitting down, we were completely ignored by the bartender and server, so we ended up leaving and going into town. We found a great spot by the water and caught an amazing sunset, which made up for it. The breakfast the next morning was much better. The server was super kind and attentive, and the food was simple but tasty. I appreciated that, especially after how dinner went. Pros: Convenient location, close to downtown. Fireplace in the room, which was nice in the winter. Breakfast service was attentive and enjoyable. Scenic dining area with pretty views. Cons: The pictures online don't match what it actually looks like. No central heating or AC, which could be an issue in the summer. Tiny bathroom with no long mirrors and no robes. Bed was way too soft and uncomfortable. Poor service during dinner--felt ignored by staff.

Another great stay in Morro Bay, CA with my guy at "our spot," the #InnAtMorroBay. Can't beat the tranquil bay view, but the real hidden gem, is the staff. From the accommodating front desk, to the kind restaurant servers and our favorite bartenders (Tracey and Quaid are THEE best!) to the efficient housekeeping and maintenance employees. We love it here and look forward to our next visit!

Scuffed paint throughout the room and bathroom.

One star for the great location. Period. Almost $400/night for unkept and small sized room with what they claim to be two queen sized beds but are full size. Don't let the pictures fool you. It was one of the most uncomfortable mattresses I've ever tried to sleep on. Cheap quality that have so much wear they sink in the middle of the bed. Horrible. The shower is dirty and moldy. The exhaust fan is filthy. Scuffed paint throughout the room. The vinyl flooring is coming up in certain areas of the room. Maybe that's why the floors don't get mopped. Be sure to bring slippers if you must stay here. Paper cups are provided for coffee. At the nightly room cost, there should be at least cheap ceramic cups for guests to use. The window adjacent to the entry door into the unit does not lock. So much for the security of one's possessions while out of the room. The wifi barely works. The grounds are unkempt. This property is way past its prime. Give it back to the birds! The lower parking area has started to erode and is being reclaimed by the bay. Just look past the white fence put up to camouflage reality. The property is adjacent to a big bird sanctuary, which means big poops all over the cars, property, and guests, if not careful when walking about. Yes, we got crapped on. Nothing against the birds, but beware. There is a restaurant on-site with a great view. On Saturday night, there was one couple dining with the whole place to themselves. My son had a dessert the night before, which was okay for the price. Unfortunately, it does not seem to get much clientele. I was expecting much better.

Outstanding service from the manager, Gabriell J…read more I had a major headache trying to cancel a reservation made through Booking.com, and their third-party insurance was incredibly disappointing to deal with. I called the Beach Bungalow Inn & Suites directly and spoke with the manager, Gabriell J. She was a total professional. I was stressed and upset, but her calm and helpful demeanor completely turned things around. She went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of through the hotel itself. Lesson learned: always book directly! Not only is the customer service superior, but you get a better price, too. I will absolutely book directly with them for my next trip to Morrow Bay!

I had read several reviews for this place saying how comfortable the beds were and how nice the rooms were. At that time the nicest woman showed us every room layout they had, even let us sit on the beds to test out the comfort level. The beds we sat on were way better than the other place. We also liked the different layouts of the rooms- the one with 2 separate bedrooms and the one with the kitchenette were our favorites- but we felt, at the time we could enjoy any of the rooms. They are also dog friendly if you aren't in the kitchenette room The reviews from before talked about a wonderful breakfast brought to your room each morning. When I mentioned it, the woman said they just discontinued that- the woman who was making the items had gone back to school in the mornings. She said they would be giving each guest a breakfast voucher for various small businesses in the area. This sounded like a great way to try out new places I asked if all the rooms had a fridge and microwave. We were assured they all did We booked thru a 3rd party for this trip. We stayed 3 nights- arriving Monday around 5 pm of Thanksgiving week There was a young man in the office when we arrived who said we were the last to check in for the evening He gave us our room keys and showed us the map on the wall to direct us to our rooms. He also told us parking is first come first served. We went to our room to store our belongings before heading out to dinner. I didn't see a microwave in my room- a must for my neck and back warmer for a recent injury. I went back to the office to request one. I was told he would look for one and get back to us. He came to our room 5 minutes later saying he couldn't find one. I explained I had been promised one by the nice lady when we came to look at the inn- he said she no longer worked there. That he had only been there a week He said he would call his manager and get back to us- but he left for the night without an update We asked him how to work the fireplace- but he didn't know We also asked to not have the maids come to the room while we were out. He said they don't come at all during your stays There is a binder in the room that tells you about the fireplace, as well as the location of some lockers to get "amenities" The locker has towels, tp, tissues.... There were also bikes and body boards available for use The rooms have been updated- but once in the room, it didn't seem to us that they were done well The bathroom floor is very slippery- we had to lay down towels for safety. The shower was not hot thru the whole stay- and water pressure is almost nonexistent There is a sign up in the bathroom about a 5 minute shower- no way you would get the conditioner out of your hair with no water pressure The fireplace wasn't working well... the tiniest of red on a log- and you can't really enjoy it from the bed. The tv is mounted above the fireplace- but it doesn't swivel- so you can't see it well from the bed The WiFi is a joke The beds were not as comfy as other guests reported- more were they as nice as the ones we had been shown a few weeks ago. We were in room 3 pacifica- they showed us rooms on the other side of the hotel The 2nd day we found a nice woman working in the office who was able to bring us a microwave. She did there were about 6 in the storage area. I asked if maybe the first guy didn't know where to look- she said that's where they always keep them. She stayed to make sure it worked when we plugged it in- the whole outlet didn't work in the front room The ironing board was broken- we were going to use it as a shelf for storage. The closest only had 1 hanger in it and 1 bathrobe. Which seemed odd there wouldn't have been 2. The coffee was in tiny refillable canisters. We brought our own coffee maker and coffee so wasn't an issue for us- but we both thought it didn't seem sanitary The fridge never did get cold enough- even though we had it on the coldest setting- so we ended up mostly using our big beach cooler In the 2nd day they cut back all the palm trees- grateful the woman who brought us the microwave warned us and we were able to move our car. We asked her if they would trim the ones right in front of our room- we had several stairs up to get in our room- and the palm fronds would smack you in the face when you tried to carry your stuff in and out. They did cut that back- very helpful But we were stuck in our room while the work was done. It was very loud There was always plenty of parking We didn't feel the beds we had were as comfortable as the ones in the other side of the inn- in room 3 the queen sized bed felt better then the king When we checked out it was another young man who also seemed new and inexperienced Hoping there is more training for the entire staff so everyone is on the same page

You can tell they've put effort into keeping it fresh and comfortable. The staff? Genuinely friendly and helpful - great recommendations, warm greetings, and they actually acknowledge you as a member (which, let's be honest, doesn't always happen everywhere). Also...major bonus points for being dog-friendly. My pup was living his best life here. Now, let's talk breakfast. Or...my lack of breakfast. If you're plant-based, your options are basically: * Toast * Fruit * Plain oatmeal (if you're feeling adventurous) Meanwhile, my dog was over there enjoying what I like to call "my breakfast." Day one: cheese omelette. Day two: scrambled eggs and potatoes. Honestly, he was thrilled. I get that it's a standard hotel breakfast setup, but in 2026, throwing in one solid vegan option doesn't feel like a wild ask. Even a simple oatmeal bar or plant-based protein would go a long way. That said, everything else about the stay was great - clean, comfortable, welcoming, and easy. I'd absolutely stay here again... I'll just plan to bring my own breakfast.
