My fiancé and I stayed here the weekend of April 11th-13th and we had a wonderful experience! The owner was very sweet and made sure that we had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Each room had a vanity separate from the bathroom (which I loved since it made doing my makeup a little more fun) and each bed had a Magic Fingers Massager attached! It was relaxing to use at the end of the day, and I'm glad that the owners have kept the nostalgic device to this day. Overall, we would definitely recommend staying here and will likely be coming back again in the future!

This is a motel, but steps above your typical roadside motel. But it does provide the basic amenities you need in accommodations, including a microwave, fridge, cable tv, and a small seating area to eat or sit and relax. Furnishings are a bit dated, but perfectly fine. You also get free parking. No pool, breakfast, or wine hour or anything like that, though. What I love about this place is the owner keeps the rooms scrupulously clean. She also works the front desk and is super friendly and helpful. I also love the motel"s proximity to numerous dining options within walking distance, including the waterfront embarcadero and Morro Rock. My only issue was the pillow top bed was a bit too soft and slightly lumpy, and pillows were too flat for us, but totally serviceable. This will be our go to place for Morro Bay from now on.

A cute, cozy and clean motel just a short walk away from restaurants and shops. We were on a road trip and wanted to stop somewhere cheap and comfortable on the way. Sundown Inn was perfect for that. We had a double room, the beds were nice and comfy. One of them had "magic fingers" where for a quarter you can get vibrated for 15min. There is a coffee machine, microwave, free WiFi, cable tv and a small fridge. Also a small dining table with comfy chairs and cute tea cups. The cupboard is big and deep so you can hide bags out of the way. Plus an ice machine full of ice outside. Overall a very good stop in a cute town with a vibrating bed.

The Sun Down Inn is an awesome place to stay while visiting Morro Bay! I stayed here for a weekend and really enjoyed my stay. The vintage style décor is adorable and the room was exceptionally clean! I find it easiest to list the pros and cons when reviewing hotel rooms. So without further ado, here they are: Benefits: *Clean room *Comfortable bed *Super pleasant owner *Competitive room rates *Beautifully decorated with vintage décor *Within walking distance of the downtown area, shops, and restaurants *Great heating system *Easy and convenient parking *Great views of Morro Rock and Morro Bay right from the window *Great water pressure in the shower *Convenient sit-down vanity area (perfect for putting on makeup/doing your hair) *Microwave, mini fridge, and TV included *Free WiFi Disadvantages: *Small rooms (closet and bathroom are pretty small too) *Super slow Wifi *Thin walls *No complimentary breakfast included *The sink kept clogging up in my room The benefits definitely outweigh the disadvantages. The owner was exceptional and this room was a steal at the rate that I received. If you're okay with having a smaller room and a little bit of street noise, I would highly recommend staying here during your visit to Morro Bay. Aside from the minor nuances that I experienced, I had a great and comfortable stay and would definitely stay here again!

I had read several reviews for this place saying how comfortable the beds were and how nice the rooms were. At that time the nicest woman showed us every room layout they had, even let us sit on the beds to test out the comfort level. The beds we sat on were way better than the other place. We also liked the different layouts of the rooms- the one with 2 separate bedrooms and the one with the kitchenette were our favorites- but we felt, at the time we could enjoy any of the rooms. They are also dog friendly if you aren't in the kitchenette room The reviews from before talked about a wonderful breakfast brought to your room each morning. When I mentioned it, the woman said they just discontinued that- the woman who was making the items had gone back to school in the mornings. She said they would be giving each guest a breakfast voucher for various small businesses in the area. This sounded like a great way to try out new places I asked if all the rooms had a fridge and microwave. We were assured they all did We booked thru a 3rd party for this trip. We stayed 3 nights- arriving Monday around 5 pm of Thanksgiving week There was a young man in the office when we arrived who said we were the last to check in for the evening He gave us our room keys and showed us the map on the wall to direct us to our rooms. He also told us parking is first come first served. We went to our room to store our belongings before heading out to dinner. I didn't see a microwave in my room- a must for my neck and back warmer for a recent injury. I went back to the office to request one. I was told he would look for one and get back to us. He came to our room 5 minutes later saying he couldn't find one. I explained I had been promised one by the nice lady when we came to look at the inn- he said she no longer worked there. That he had only been there a week He said he would call his manager and get back to us- but he left for the night without an update We asked him how to work the fireplace- but he didn't know We also asked to not have the maids come to the room while we were out. He said they don't come at all during your stays There is a binder in the room that tells you about the fireplace, as well as the location of some lockers to get "amenities" The locker has towels, tp, tissues.... There were also bikes and body boards available for use The rooms have been updated- but once in the room, it didn't seem to us that they were done well The bathroom floor is very slippery- we had to lay down towels for safety. The shower was not hot thru the whole stay- and water pressure is almost nonexistent There is a sign up in the bathroom about a 5 minute shower- no way you would get the conditioner out of your hair with no water pressure The fireplace wasn't working well... the tiniest of red on a log- and you can't really enjoy it from the bed. The tv is mounted above the fireplace- but it doesn't swivel- so you can't see it well from the bed The WiFi is a joke The beds were not as comfy as other guests reported- more were they as nice as the ones we had been shown a few weeks ago. We were in room 3 pacifica- they showed us rooms on the other side of the hotel The 2nd day we found a nice woman working in the office who was able to bring us a microwave. She did there were about 6 in the storage area. I asked if maybe the first guy didn't know where to look- she said that's where they always keep them. She stayed to make sure it worked when we plugged it in- the whole outlet didn't work in the front room The ironing board was broken- we were going to use it as a shelf for storage. The closest only had 1 hanger in it and 1 bathrobe. Which seemed odd there wouldn't have been 2. The coffee was in tiny refillable canisters. We brought our own coffee maker and coffee so wasn't an issue for us- but we both thought it didn't seem sanitary The fridge never did get cold enough- even though we had it on the coldest setting- so we ended up mostly using our big beach cooler In the 2nd day they cut back all the palm trees- grateful the woman who brought us the microwave warned us and we were able to move our car. We asked her if they would trim the ones right in front of our room- we had several stairs up to get in our room- and the palm fronds would smack you in the face when you tried to carry your stuff in and out. They did cut that back- very helpful But we were stuck in our room while the work was done. It was very loud There was always plenty of parking We didn't feel the beds we had were as comfortable as the ones in the other side of the inn- in room 3 the queen sized bed felt better then the king When we checked out it was another young man who also seemed new and inexperienced Hoping there is more training for the entire staff so everyone is on the same page

Shortly after using a remote check-in service, I was locked out of my room and there was absolutely zero management onsite at this property...from early afternoon until the next day after 10am. That's also what a lot of reviews said. Gabby would do best working as a prison guard where she can exercise her authority as a self-proclaimed bully. Better yet, she should retire as she would likely be fired as being a bully is not okay, unless you're Gabby. Hope the owners know what she is doing to the property. P.S. I also got bedbugs here. So gross. Ugh.

You can tell they've put effort into keeping it fresh and comfortable. The staff? Genuinely friendly and helpful - great recommendations, warm greetings, and they actually acknowledge you as a member (which, let's be honest, doesn't always happen everywhere). Also...major bonus points for being dog-friendly. My pup was living his best life here. Now, let's talk breakfast. Or...my lack of breakfast. If you're plant-based, your options are basically: * Toast * Fruit * Plain oatmeal (if you're feeling adventurous) Meanwhile, my dog was over there enjoying what I like to call "my breakfast." Day one: cheese omelette. Day two: scrambled eggs and potatoes. Honestly, he was thrilled. I get that it's a standard hotel breakfast setup, but in 2026, throwing in one solid vegan option doesn't feel like a wild ask. Even a simple oatmeal bar or plant-based protein would go a long way. That said, everything else about the stay was great - clean, comfortable, welcoming, and easy. I'd absolutely stay here again... I'll just plan to bring my own breakfast.
