This cozy Inn is a great spot for one night stay, specially, it's excellent location near the Embarcadero Morro Rock. There are also many restaurants nearby. The receptionist was wonderfully polite and cheerful and the room itself was exceptionally clean. A few things to note: we were given to queen beds instead of the king queen combination we reserved, and the rate felt a bit high for the room's compact size. The amenities were great (TV, fridge, microwave, coffee maker) but the hairdryer was missing, which caught me off guard. Also, the shower design causes water to spill onto the bathroom floor, creating a bit of slipping hazard. We appreciated the great hitting and extra fans provided for cooling with a few minor adjustments. This would be an even better place to stay. read more

The room we stayed in had a thick coat of dust on the wall as if it had not been cleaned in months. (See photos attached) We did not see the filth until the next morning, when we both woke up super congested. The clerk had zero customer service skills. She took personal offensive about practically everything I said when I showed her the photos of the room and asked her to come upstairs to view it for herself. She refused to come look at it and said "I'm not going in that room because I have allergies!". I explained to her that I just wanted to have a clean room to stay in and not be charged $250 for a filthy room. She started blaming the owner, the housekeeper... saying it was housekeepings fault because they didn't know how to speak English. When we spoke to housekeeping and showed her the issue, she kept saying Manager... Manager. At best, this property is horribly managed and apparently the owner doesn't really care how the guests feel about their stay. In addition, there were no amenities at this hotel of any kind. I have submitted pictures showing the thick coating of dust that was on the wall. It obviously hadn't been cleaned in months at best. Both the owner and clerk refused to do anything to compensate us for the condition of the room the night we stayed. We had to change hotels to finish out our weekend. I highly recommend that everyone stay anywhere but at this place for health reasons alone. Who knows what else they don't clean properly. BEWARE read more

I do not recommend you stay here unless you enjoy being threatened multiple times. My first threat was a cancellation by 11 am if I didn't respond because my card that I reserved declined due to fraud protection . I think the text that came through lacked any concept of customer service, kindness or even someone who would like a guest to return. My second threat was when I plugged my Tesla into an outlet outside. While I was out someone unplugged my car and left a note that was not so nice. I'm never staying here again and apparently the owner did this. Like don't you want people to come back? Pretty stupid way of showing it!!! read more

Our bathroom flooded from the one above us and they gave us no option to move rooms so we barely slept in fear that the bathroom ceiling was going to collapse with water. We had to ask for rags and the manager didn't even come in the room to see how extensive the damage was. They offered our money back full refund and then turned around the next morning and stated that they would only refund $35 (it was $220 for the night) because it "wasn't their fault" and that we should have left at midnight when it happened to receive a refund (though we weren't told that at the time). Not only were we not told that is what would need to happen to get our money back, we had a 5 year old and 7 year old with us who were asleep and tried to call 10 other hotels to see if they had rooms and no one did so we literally had nowhere to go except to sleep in our car. We also left at 7 in the morning to get out before disaster occurred. They offered a free night on a weekday in the winter which is not comparable to a Friday night in the summer. Do not stay at this hotel. The worst experience I've ever had and even though the owner could have done the right thing, he doubled down and insisted that they would not give us our money back. read more

This inn was just fine. I was a little worried after reading some of the reviews but there is nothing to worry about but one thing. The lady at checkin was so nice & welcoming. Great first impression of the property. Parking lot was good, location was great. Wish I had more time to explore the immediate area but was spending a lot of time at Hearst Castle. Liked that there is a refrig & microwave in room. As well as table & chairs. Room very clean. Shower great. Only issue: paper thin wall. So thin in fact, I could hear the LOUD snorer in the next room. It was infuriating. Also could hear baby crying. But the snorer was the issue. Like a foghorn. Wish I had earplugs. Was so distracting, I couldn't sleep. There is a great inexpensive Mexican place down the street: Taco De Mexico. Great for takeout! Such friendly people! Karen checked me in, she was so welcoming as were two of the housekeepers I spoke with. I got a corner room with a view of the rock which was nice to have, paid a little extra for it. Room was clean with all needed amenities: 900watt microwave, fridge with freezer, hair dryer, towels, toiletries, ice machine and cable TV. I don't watch TV usually so not sure how good it was but I can say I couldn't get the guide button to operated. I didn't bother to complain though. Channel and volume were fine. They have free wi-fi which I used a lot more than the TV. Just two short blocks to the ocean and town center, easy walk and pleasant, too. I have stayed at 5 star hotels and resorts and this isn't the same thing so I was reluctant to rate it so high but for a motel/Inn, I used a different scale and so on my motel scale, I give it 5 stars. Although I did have a next door neighbor who had to blast country music at 7am-9am which wasn't so great however I managed to power sleep through it and they only staid one night. They only had a room with with a single queen bed. They gave us an uncomfortable, tiny rollaway bed. No frills but good rate and everything was clean and tidy. I liked that it had a microwave, coffee maker & refrigerator. I knew that there was no a/c but the weather was fine. I just turned on the fan. The only think we were worried about was the late check in. I believe Yelp stated front desk is open until 11:30pm but we were told it was 10pm when we called. I'm only giving it three stars because there was no AC and the bed was super uncomfortable. Other than that this small and is in a great location walking distance from the marina. The lady at the front check-in was pleasant. The bathroom all those small, had great water pressure and was clean. But again before warned, there is no AC and even though the weather drops to the 50s the high humidity makes it extremely uncomfortable. I wish I had taken a picture but like I said it is in a very good location walking distance from everything pretty much. Phone Customer Service (4): I made my reservation online and entered in the wrong info so my card was declined. Dennis (I'm guessing the manager) texts me and informs me I have an hour to get in contact or they'll have to open the room. I found that pretty reasonable. I was a little miffed when I attempted to call 3 times, but after I texted Dennis back they called me. The lady was a little short sounds (not in height) and cut me off when I started reading the same card number. I was a little ruffled and didn't know what to do because my card was fine and I was sure it was just a typo. After calling back and fixing the expiration date she just hung up the phone, no "goodbye" or "you're good" or even a "catch ya laters homie". Nothing! In-Person Customer Service (5): Dennis was nice, he explained the room would actually take until 4pm (regular check-in time) to be ready since they had a call-in. But it was well worth the wait. Room (5): Location of RM 217 (upstairs ocean view) is absolutely amazing. The room was spotless, the view was beautiful. They offer a heater and fan, bed was comfy (harder), and so were the pillows and blankets! A couple minor negatives are the thin Walls (I got to enjoy MTV though I didn't have my TV on) so no freaky stuff and the very bright/harsh light in the bathroom. Overall I loved it! read more

I'm so glad I stayed here! You can walk to Embarcadero which is few blocks away, and Morro Rock is only about 5 min drive. Room itself is nice and cozy. It came with free WiFi, microwave, mini fridge, and a coffee maker. Ice machine is downstairs. Shower room is clean, and had basic toiletries and a blow dryer. I stayed in October, so I don't know how hot it is during spring/summer. There is a fan in case it is hot. We didn't need it. Just opened the window to let air breeze in. The only thing not working was TV. It kept saying signal interrupted... Front desk lady is very friendly too. Sometimes at motels, you get people who don't even acknowledge or even look at you... So it was nice and felt very welcoming. I wish I stayed extra night here. I fell in love with Morro Bay! read more

This hotel was a great stay. When I first walked into room 208 I was so impressed with how tidy and clean it was. There wasn't a speck of dust anywhere! The bathroom was beautiful. It looked as though it had recently been remodeled. It was clean and mold free. The towels were white and fresh. The beds were comfortable. I move a lot when I sleep, so I wouldn't be able to fit another person. However, the beds could easily fit two people. The sheets were also clean and soft. The room isn't small, but it probably couldn't fit more than two people. If you did go over two people it would most likely feel cramped. The location is perfect! It's a couple streets up from the embarcadero. It's a simple walking distance to all stores and restaurants. The manager of the inn was so sweet! She was very accommodating and welcoming. We ran out of toilet paper during our stay, and she was quick to replace a couple rolls right then. She cares a lot for her inn and really takes a lot of pride in it. I was able to tell that from how well the place is kept up. I would recommend staying here! read more

From the moment we arrived at 1:00 on 6/27 we were in love with this place. Check in is 4:00 but our room was ready so they allowed us to check in early. The lady at the front desk was delightful and when we got to our room #218 we thought we had found paradise. We had an awesome, unobstructed view of the rock and windows that opened for fresh ocean air to be enjoyed. The linens were luxurious, from the towels to the pillows and bedding!!! Our room included a fridge, microwave, coffee pot and an electric fireplace. Of course cable flat screen tv as well. It was so clean that it felt like no one had been in there prior to our arrival. A short walk to the main drag of town and plenty of shopping and eating establishments along the way. This place is a true gem and we will definitely be back! read more

Location is fantastic! However, the parking spaces are too small; remove one please too make the others wider. I parked on the street. I will gladly stay here again. Keep the rates reasonable. I stayed here Thursday 6/8/17 - booked through Expedia. Having never been to Morro Bay but having heard great things, when looking for a hotel I searched around a bit for the best balance between cost and comfort, and settled on Morro Crest Inn. Midweek prices were in the $60-80 range, and really pop up on the weekends in the summer. Anyway, sure glad I did! I would return in a heartbeat. Location is great - 'motel style' rooms w/doors opening to outside, situated on the hill about two/three blocks up from the waterfront dining/shopping area, and about a block and a half from the "downtown" Morro Bay district (the two late-night bar/restaurants I looked up are a quick walk away). Easy walk down to whatever you might want to do in this quaint little hamlet. GREAT views of Morro Rock and part of the bay from my 2nd floor breezeway. Checking in was quick and easy, and the woman who was working the front desk was super nice and pleasant. Room - tidy and updated. I notice there are some 'old' reviews on here detailing some pretty crappy rooms...don't know for sure but I think they have completed their renovations at Morro Crest. My room was very clean, refreshed, and 'modern'. Had a VERY large closet which would come in handy if I was staying a long time (I was there one night only). Smallish bathroom but nice and updated. *There is no AC.* This will bother some folks, but in summer I just opened the bathroom window and the 'main' window for cross-circulation and used the box fan they provide...no sweat (tee hee). Might be a deal breaker for some but the times it gets super hot in Morro Bay are pretty infrequent. Give 'em a shot - not 'the ritz' but a hit a good sweet spot in the balance between cost/comfort that I was seeking. read more

What a disappointment. The rooms were not well maintained. The bed poor. The internet did not work and I asked about it a number of times to no avail. But here's the main problem. A couple directly beneath me was arguing so violently and loudly I could hear every word through the thin floorboards. The woman accused the man of abusing her and threatened to go to the hospital to get MRI evidence of how he'd beaten her. The man yelled for her to shut up. She threatened to call the police. I'm a pretty laid back guy, but this just went on and on and I became deeply uncomfortable. So at around 5pm, I told the woman at the front desk what was going on and how deeply uncomfortable I was. So I asked to be switched to a different room. I've never done that before. And though there were only two other guests there at the time and though only half the rooms ended up being booked that night, they refused to move me to another room. Instead, they went to the couple to tell them people had complained out their noise. I could hear the man argue, upset that someone had ratted on him. Now I closed my curtain and I hid in my room fearing the man's anger would turn upstairs. Luckily, they just kept yelling at each other. So again 2 hours later I asked to be moved. Talked to the manager Dennis. No was the answer. I was told the available rooms had 2 twin beds whereas mine was a queen. Frankly I was stunned they wouldn't just move me to an available room that didn't share an adjoining wall or floor when they clearly had space. Though I'd come to quiet Morro Bay to get some isolated writing done in that room, I exiled myself from the room till midnight hoping my neighbors would pass out by then, and while I was able to sleep, I was woken at 6:30am with more yelling because Dennis refused to switch my room. This hotel was pretty pricey for the weekend I was staying there. The reviews were mixed, so I didn't think it would be THAT bad since it was a little costly. But it was simply a joke. Like an "am I being pranked" type of joke? Where's Ashton? It looks like this room has not been remodeled or cleaned since the '70s or '80s. TV, phone, every appliance, everything in there just looks like someone found an old underground bunker left trapped in time. The whole place felt super mildewy and damp. It just was gross. The only positive was the shower was huge and the water pressure was ridiculously high (which is a rare treat in today's water conserving times). I believe what we had was a handicapped shower, that is probably why it was unusually large and the water needed the pressure to shoot so far out. But anyway, if this place was a bargain price, I would think it was okay. I don't mind staying in a dump if I'm saving money. But this was just a rip! read more

Hotel staff stole my conditioner, 2 bottles of toothpaste, and my tweezers! $70 of missing items for a $80 room. Not a pleasant experience. After using my things twice that day, I left them on the bathroom counter and came back afternoon to see them all missing. Also upon check in I saw housekeeping leave a pile of wet dirty towels outside on the seating chair for hotel guests. It's a woven chair with a cotton cushion pad. That night a cat slept on that chair. I'm glad I never used that seating area because it probably hasn't been cleaned for 20 years. The cleaning woman shouldn't put dirty wet hotel guests towels on a communal seating area for the hotel. When I told the owner my stuff is missing she said first I left it elsewhere (used it at your hotel) and she said her maid wasn't even at the hotel. Also wrong, I saw her multiple times with the dirty towels on the chair 2 feet in front of my door. Please don't steal. It's bad taste. read more

I'll say this; it didn't help that we came to Morro Bay on the hottest few days of the entire year but never the less, there was no air conditioning. For the front desk ladies defense : 80% of the hotels don't have ac (which through a quick few google searches you'll find to be untrue, just the older hotels don't.) So it was hot as balls. They gave us this fan that feels like a mouse coughing on us while trying to sleep in a house fire. It's also functionally useless if you have the blinds closed (Which WE HAVE TO DO or else everyone on the stairs can see straight into your room as clear as day) To top it all off, we ordered a Queen Size bed. Now you should know that my girlfriend and I sleep in a Queen Size bed Daily, and we know very well what a queen size bed is. So when we show up to a room that gave us a Twin/Full size bed; the first thing I did was go down stairs and tell the front desk guy that he gave us the wrong room. He said "No, they're all queens, trust me, its a queen." He couldn't be reasoned with and told us there are no more vacancies anyways so we're basically going to have to take what we get. If I could complain some more and obviously I will; the shower felt like an cramped RV shower that I could easily touch all the walls with one easy movement or turn. The shower had no light so if you close the curtains it's actually pretty difficult to see anything unless you leave it cracked and let water fly. The bathroom had no conditioner, no body/shower gel. They give you one soap brick that's nearly as thin as a credit card. The bed sheets look and feel like recycled 20 year old motel 6 sheets and the floors felt grimy. Do yourself a favor, there is a brand new Best Westin down the street or many other hotels in the area that are built within this century that are worth looking at. read more

Morro Bay used to be a small fishermen town and still has a laid-back feel. Now it appears to rely mainly on tourism and it sports a good number of hotels and motels. The Morro Crest Inn is a motel located on the main strip of town. My room was decent-sized and it had a number of amenities you will not find in your normal motel room, such as a coffee maker, small fridge, microwave, flat screen TV, free WiFi. The room was super clean and bright, as was the bathroom. There is also a small (continental) breakfast included but I passed because there is actually a hip Internet Cafe right around the corner where I got my latté. Best of all, rooms go for about $45, which is hard to beat. read more

Great location, not such a great stay. The location is great, easy to walk to where every you want to get to. Overall the place was clean and the staff was very nice, they offered me 2 options for the room when I called instead of just putting me in the room right next to the office. However the room was somewhat odd, the floor creaked the main bolt didn't lock from the outside and the bottom sheet wasn't long enough to cover the bottom of the bed, so your feet where touching the mattress. Not to mention that the blank on the bed was like steel wool. I'm not sure where the continental breakfast was because I never saw it. read more

I was shocked at how terrible this room was. The young man at the front desk was friendly and accommodating, but for a $159 room, I expected more. The walls are paper thin, to the point of being able to comprehend full conversations from our neighbors, as well as hearing "everything" done in their bathroom.
