This place only deserves a star because the receptionist and piercer were very sweet during my initial experience, otherwise, if i could give no stars, I would. Despite all of the good reviews, I personally had a really terrible experience with this place. I was visiting my sister out in Livermore (I live in Hayward) and decided to get my septum pierced. We did a little research and decided to see Shayna for the piercing. Shayna was very sweet and comforting, but totally messed up my nose. She pierced it waaay too far back, crooked, and THROUGH THE CARTILAGE!!!! You DO NOT go through the cartilage when placing a septum piercing. I went to my usual piercer in Hayward (to whom I should have gone in the first place...) to get a second opion the next day because Shayna only works 3 days a week. He suggested that I remove it and I agreed, so he took it out for me. i called Inkestry to attempt to get my money back for my botched piercing seeing as I will not being going back to see Shayna when i get it re-pierced in a week or so, and I was denied by the owner. So I payed for someone to completely screw up a piercing, just for me to remove it the very next day. Very poor business practice, usually you want your customers to be happy when they are finished dealing with your business so that they don't spread the word that your business rips off paying customers. I hear their tattoo artists are great, but make sure you are getting what you want and that your piercer/artist doesn't screw it up because they'll make you pay for it either way. You can bet I won't ever be back here again. read more

Tried calling owner/manager several time they kept saying he was busy & couldn't to the phone. Manager needs to hire people who are thorough in communicating with their customers. The studio has a very relaxing, spa-like atmosphere in a gorgeous building with lots of available parking. Sin is so lovely to work with and was absolutely the best choice for the piercing I wanted. Very thorough, quick, and pleasant. Pricing is standard. He made what otherwise could have been an anxiety ridden experience for me into a fun one. His work is beautiful and I would recommend him to anyone, especially those who are very anxious (like me!). read more

I first have to say I didn't get any piercings here by Danny but from another place in the Bay Area. However, the day after I got my rook piercing the bottom of it fell out while I was cleaning it so I called inkestry and they got me in within 20 minutes and Danny very kindly put my earring back on for me and wanted to make a follow up appt in 3 weeks to check on my piercings. He also recommended a certain type of wash for my piercings so I got that. I listened to his advice and made the appt but during the appt I got interesting vibes. I believe Danny is a nice guy and is probably good at his work of piercings, but he made me feel very cornered with the way he talked to me about how my piercings were healing badly and needed to be fixed with surgery etc. On the fault of my own, my piercings were developing irritation bumps and he pointed these out to me but basically said that they needed to be cared for ASAP through first anti inflammatories and then possibly more intense measures like "surgical correction". Although, I felt that 3 weeks after getting the piercing was a little too soon to be judging if a piercing that I was told can take between 6-12 months to heal, to show signs of not improving. It's been 3 months since I got my piercings and they have improved. Although a nice guy, it seemed as if he was judging my piercings too early on and I felt like I would have been spending money per week for him to mess with my ears when they just needed time. I also have a tragus piercing he was checking out and he wanted to put in a smaller bar in so I let him, then he realized it was still to swollen for the new jewelry so took it out and put the older one back in. I even told him I thought my tragus was too swollen for a new piece of jewelry. I just didn't think it was right to mess with such a fresh/ baby piercing. Regardless, he has never pierced me so I can't judge him on that. I can just leave a review stating my experience with him. read more

The staff is friendly and inviting (not always the case at tattoo shops). As far as the artists', crazy talented. Glory took an idea and made it into something that I never imagined it could be. His work is absolutely staggering. Super nice guy to boot. Livermore is very lucky to have such a talented artist at our disposal. By the way, I've been tattooed at two other local shops and Inkestry blows them out of the water. Absolutely no contest! Derek did a great job on my tattoo the first time but when I texted him to schedule a small touch up, he wasn't very responsive. After I finally scheduled an appointment, he called me back refusing to do it because I had considered using someone else due to the fact it was extremely hard to get a hold of him. Ready for my next one!! I've followed Chris aka Yack for about 5 years! The reason I keep going back is because of his great work!. Went to see him with my mom for her mother's day gift this past year, and we went in for matching tattoos. I gave Chris my drawings and said let me know where you can go with these. 2 weeks we came back and I was in the ink chair. Very clean and professional with his tools. My mom wasn't feeling very well but he did good with her. When she needed to get up he didn't mind stopping. Chris is great at personalizing tattoos and including all that you ask for. I can't wait to get my next tattoo. I recommend him to all of my friends because they always complimemt my work and I have to give credit where its due!!! I normally don't write reviews, but the service at Inkestry is amazing. Everyone there is super friendly and extremely helpful. I went to get some scar tissue removed by Daniel in May. My conch piercing would not heal at all (done outside of the U.S.) and I had Daniel examine it and we decided to remove the scar tissue the piercing caused. Everything went well and now you can't even tell I had a conch piercing in my right ear. I went to get my conch re-pierced by Daniel a few days ago and he did a great job! Everything was sanitized and the procedure itself was very quick--I barely felt anything at all. He's friendly and seems to care for his clients and does a great job explaining everything. It's pretty obvious he cares about his job and he knows what he's doing. I definitely recommend him. read more

Every time I've walked into Inkestry I've been immediately greeted by the really nice lady (I didn't catch her name but she's great) in the front. I was wanting to get some words in cursive going down the side of my forearm. So I made sure to look in each artists book in order to find the artist with the best hand writing and that's where I found KEVIN. He got back to me promptly (same day) to set up a consultation appointment. From there on out he really listened to what I wanted and his creative input made my tattoo beautiful. I absolutely love it! In addition to him being a great tattoo artist, he's a super cool guy. Also, this is the first tattoo shop that I've ever been to that has t.v.'s in each room. Kevin has a great selection of movies to put on while being tatted. Which was such a good distraction! I will definitely be back for more tattoos from Kevin. This is a long overdue review for Derek H. This guy is absolutely awesome, I came in with a jacked up chest piece and half sleeve from a previous " garage tattoo "artist" ". I've been coming to Inkestry since it opened and have gotten all my work from Mo' Better for over a decade now. He's an amazing artist and always gives 100%, he takes pride in his work and it shows. I always get props on the work he does on me and I can't even count how many people I've referred there. I've sent family there and even got my dad a tattoo for his 80th birthday! The shop is always immaculate, the staff is super friendly and helpful. All the artists do great work there and I wouldn't *ever* dream of going anywhere else. I am very sad that I have to update my review of this shop as I used to love this shop and only go here for years. I got my beautiful sleeve done there by an artist who is no longer there and then moved to Joe when he left. The last tattoo I had done there was on my fingers and I was told that it was going to cost more because they were going to need additional touch ups so I agreed. This was less than 2 years ago. As soon as they were done healing they needed touch ups so I got them done. Again when they were done healing they needed touch ups but life was busy so I waited. I recently texted to see about getting them worked on and was promptly told that I would be charged and when I asked about what I was told when I got them joe seemed to fall off the edge of the planet. So today as I get ready to have another artist fix them at a different shop I am heart broken. Not because of the money but because I couldn't even have the time of day for a conversation as to why I was going to be charged again. read more

Called about 2 days ago to schedule my 2nd tattoo, I get to talked to Jab and i already felt he is a professional, the way he talks, the way he make me feel already welcome in the shop. Jab did my tattoo and i am really grateful i met him. Overall, i did not see anything wrong with the shop, everyone is very kind, respectful, and very professional. Each artist has their own room for the works, i am proud to say, it is very well-orientated. The owner Mo, he's very nice and respectful of our own decisions on our tattoo's design, he will suggest a better style for it and i guarantee you, YOU WILL LIKE IT! I went with my daughter and observed Glory as he created her Tattoo in memorial of my son. She brought the picture my son had used to base his Aries Ram Tat on. Glory, a perfectionist, tried his best to capture every detail and he did. It turned out fabulously. The studio is new, well organized, decorated and very clean. The methods very hygienic.
