I went here to get my first tattoo with my best friend because she had gotten one of her previous three done by Kenny. She said he was awesome and would do a really good job. We walked in to talk to him and tell him what we wanted. He said no problem and to come in the next evening at 6 to have him show us the sketch. We went in the next evening... And he never showed. This was mildly alarming but they said to call the next day and he'd set up a time for me to go in again. The next day, I called and called and they said he never showed for the day. Uh. Okay. Not cool, sir. The following day, we got to the shop, I was nervous because a) it was my first tattoo and b) the guy that was going to repeatedly stick a needle into my skin was unreliable. He was nice enough and he played my iPod to keep me comfortable. But the coloring didn't come out right and now it's SUPER faded when it's only been six months! Sad day! read more

Co-Owner and main tattoo artist. Everybody up there can tat sic but Mo is on another stratosphere. lol. Very clean, modern, classy, welcoming enviornment. Once you find your "tattoo guy" you stic with him and sometimes you might have to follow them. And that's what I did. Just like the dentist. I've learned from personal experience. I've been to Inkestry 3 times to get my nose pierced and the piercer is never there. I ask them what day he'll be returning and they never have a definitive answer. Today I went to partake in their tattoo's for breast cancer day. I was very impressed. I have had a couple of tattoo's done and this place by far has the best environment I have seen. It is very "spa" like and everyone was very friendly and professional. Even though it was crazy busy and I had a long wait ( due to the nature of the event). My artist was " Rocky" and he did a great job. I am so amazed by the detail and color in his work. I would definitely check out his portfolio if your looking for a great artist. The tattoo artists are great, but the piercer is terrible. I have gotten most of my piercings from Shayna and they all healed perfectly. However, the ones I have gotten from the new piercer have not. I guess I am the black sheep in my family, cause no one I know has or wants tattoos. I was on my own to find an artist and I was very particular about who I would allow to tattoo me. Can I say, that even my husband (anti-tattoo) was impressed by how clean and professional this place is. Almost spa-like. All the equipment was fresh and out of the package (needles, cups, etc). Glory was my artist and he took the time to talk to me and exchange ideas. I was really nervous, but his calm and quiet demeanor put me at ease. He was a really interesting guy to talk to as well. He had DVD's you could watch, but since my tattoo was so small, we just listened to some local music. I got my tongue pierced and I could already tell it was too far forward causing a speech impediment. I ended up pulling it out and going to Zebras. Much better service and they get the job done in one try. I can't attest to their tattoos, but as far as piercings stay away from the guy with a bunch of piercings in his face. You'd be better off getting pierced in a dark ally by a homeless man with a rusty nail. At least it'd be cheaper and you'd get the exact same result. read more

I went in on Sunday to get my tongue pierced. The piercer wasn't there, so I left my name for him to give me a call. He called the next day and we set up a time. Went into the studio, which is super clean. Waited for a short time, during which about 10 people came in for tattoos!!! Estevan came out and grabbed us to go to in. He is a crack up! You are going to want to keep getting pierced just to hang out with him. He was super professional and everything was nice and clean. I went into Inkestry for the first time on Friday to get a piercing. I had several places I wanted to get pierced but I wanted to do one at a time. The studio is super clean and organized professionally. The waiting room was huge and comfortable. I really loved the atmosphere! The piercer who did my tongue, Jake, knew what he was doing and pierced my tongue professionally. This guy is super friendly too because at first, I was really tense about getting a tongue piercing, of all the places I wanted to get pierced-ears, lips, and the cool thing is that we both talked about it and shared a couple laughs and eventually, I felt confident. I was very well taken care of by this guy, Jake, and I recommend him if you want to get anything pierced. After analyzing the tattoo and going over the idea, he suggested another BETTER piece because he made it clear he wasn't "a simple artist". Oh man, let me start off by thanking Derek, you did an AMAZING job on my Odin ravens and runes, they're perfect, will be sending business your way for sure. Now for the store... It's nice having a really good tattoo shop only 10 minutes from my house. The place is huge and most importantly, CLEAN! If it's gonna be a bit until your appointment comes up there is a gigantic lounging area with a tv, magazines, and couches big enough for a 6'6" guy to sprawl out on. The receptionist at inkestry is a sweetheart and it's pretty funny hearing the artists bullshit with each other. Back to Derek, I don't think I could trust another artist in Livermore (no offense to the other artists at the shop.) Derek is a straight forward, honest guy that you can easily talk to throughout the tattoo process unlike some other shops that shall remain nameless where the artist will actually tell you to shut up while he's working. He's got super steady hands and his linework is a testiment to that, also he's not heavy handed, which is always appreciated. My mom got her Norwegian rosemalling tattoo done by him and he seemed genuinely excited to do something different. When everything was said and done, my mom was exstatic and I was really impressed by his blending, colors, and his executive decision to let the colors play off of her skintone by leaving a few subtle blank areas (she thought it was a mistake until I told her it was most likely done on purpose.) Both my Mom and I really want to go back and get more work from him, hell I've already reffered 5 people towards him and I just got my tattoo today! I had my appointment with Joseph. I had a tattoo done that I originally wanted to resemble a silver cross pendant, thus, lightly around the edges, and either ice blue or a gray shading so it looked like a silver cross necklace. It was SHARP and rough around the edges with lightly black shading inside the cross. I actually asked for it to be softer and rounded, frankly it looked like it was intending to look like wood, according to one of my friends. Nevertheless, I got back with Joseph via text and simply asked for a light blue fill in - and I never assumed that would be free. Weeks and weeks went by with one quick text reply, saying I need to wait 3 weeks for healing. No prob of course! 3 weeks came and I again tried and tried to get a reply from Joseph to no avail. I tracked down the owner on FB and he was able to light a fire under Joseph to reply to me. However, in one night he sent me about 7+ very curt texts as he went along. He said he didn't appreciate me "threatening" him with a comment regarding this experience on Yelp. A "THREAT!" What??? Service there with Joseph has been HECK!! Too bad. read more

I had gotten my industrial piercing done at another place while I was on vacation, when it was time to change it out I came here to get my bar changed to a smaller one, when i told him what I wanted, he told me he couldn't replace it because it was infected (it was not infected, i could move it around, lay on it, there was no pain) but he could fix my ear and i would only be able to save one piercing, each session to "fix" my ear would be $40 each, and for each piercing, so i walked out, it's now been a month later and my ear is actually infected because the bar is too long so it's been moving and has now really given me an infection, which could have been prevented when i went in to get it changed the first time read more

A few months ago, I went to Inkestry to get a tattoo with my best friend. When I called, Justin answered the phone and was super helpful, even opening up a couple of spots for us that night. When we got there, we sent him the photo of the tattoo and he made sure that the design was exactly what we wanted. Joseph took care of the tattoo for my friend and we were worked on in the same room. They took special care to make sure that the colors were exactly what we wanted and that everything was perfect when they started. Even though it was really painful on the top of my foot, Justin was fast and it came out exactly as I thought it would. Joseph took great care of my friend and they both joked and talked with us, putting us both at ease. I would love to get more work done, and this will be one of my first choices. He got back to me saying no because his boss didn't want him moving to fast and taking on to many clients so we had to take a look at the calendar to see when he had more time. The only drawback that she did not explain until after I was pierced, a drawback of the tragus piercing itself, which is that I cannot wear regular ear buds. I came here for several piercings (helix and two lobe piercings), and Shayna was awesome. She is very calm and friendly and makes you feel at ease. She was patient while I was making up my mind of where exactly to put the helix piercing. I've gone here for my last three piercings (nostril, septum and doubles) and had a wonderful experience with Shauna. Shauna was amazing and friendly, so it deeply saddened me to learn that she left especially because the person who they replaced her with is horrible. I mean he's probably a good piecer but his attitude ruins it. I was planning on getting pierced but after talking to the guy I had to leave. He just brings a bad vibe to the place and I probably won't return to what I considered my go to place. :/ and the whole thing about him having to pierce with a hoop that has to be changed by him or another piercer is kinda ridiculous ? I don't understand why he can't just do a normal stud like a lot of other piercers do. I have had two horrible experiences with the piercer at Inkestry. Do not recommend! I tried to save a trip to Walnut Creek considering I just needed to get a piercing put back in that I have had for 7 months but I shouldn't have wasted my time on him. He is rude, unhelpful and talks to his customers in such a demeaning way! I hope they rehire their previous piercer! He was going to charge me to simply look at my ear and tell me if we could discuss options on how to deal with my piercing, which was not closed at all. I had even called ahead days before to make sure there would be no problems and still he ruined the "appointment". Last time I was getting my tragus piercing put back in and he was discussing how he can sneak weapons into places and just tells security that the metal detectors go off from all the metal on his body. He is ridiculous and is truly losing money and customers for the establishment. Do not waste your time or sanity. I have left pissed off both times I've gone there! read more

Disrespectful and no sense of customer service. Wants to blame others for his own actions. Even in the waiting room with other customers present you'd think he would have respect for the shop and handle things respectfully and try to rectify a situation. Instead makes a scene. I wonder what the owner would have thought about this transaction. Cancels appointments without having the respect to call and reschedule them then blames us for not following up.
