I came to Inkestry for a jewelry swap for my nose piercing. The piercer's work was swift, and professional. The female receptionist was very kind, informative and I enjoyed her company very much. However, I did not appreciate the way the piercer interacted with my boyfriend and I. I believe he should work on his customer service skills with his patrons. His demeanor was very disrespectful, the way he spoke to me left me feeling extremely anxious and uninformed. Due to this negative interaction I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

I originally came in because I was set to have a naval piercing at another location. I ended up here on accident not paying attention to directions BUT the woman at the desk was helpful in telling me how to get to the intended location. I'm writing a review because when I came in the door and said hello, there were two guys behind the counter neither one spoke but gave me a face of unenthused RBF. It was not busy at all! no one was in the front area waiting to be assisted so a simple greeting would've sufficed. It was very off-putting; it takes 1 sec literally to greet a potential customer but that didn't happen. I didn't see the woman at the counter immediately, I just saw the guys talking to each other and then thankfully she came over to greet me. This past weekend something in me said to get brave and go to the tattoo parlor. I've never been. I was really nervous. I chose Inkestry because they noted that they accept walk-ins. As soon as I walked through the door, I was immediately at ease. I asked for piercings and a tattoo, not really expecting any openings. Leticia checked availability and booked me for piercings in the next hour. I stepped out and returned for my appointment, was greeted promptly and didn't have to wait. Dan had an impeccably clean station and provided thorough explanations. I got two second lobe re-piercings, and two conch piercings. Both were accomplished swiftly and professionally. I don't have extensive personal experience with piercings but he explained his choices and they appeared to go well. I was quite surprised when I was able to have my tattoo done immediately after. Rae did a thoughtful and careful job with my written word tattoo. Her options were exactly right, and she made sure the placement looked natural in all movement positions. She was friendly and careful and the work was very clean. Overall, I appreciate the ability to take in a new customer and make room for me in their calendars. This is by far the only tattoo shop I have walked into feeling 100% comfortable. For some of my pieces, it's been very important I have a Black tattoo artist, so I think the over 1-hour drive is worth it. I always have an amazing experience. 10/10. Would recommend to everyone. This was my first time going there, and I cannot thank Tony and Leti enough!!! Tony was kind and impatient. It had been 26 years since my last tattoo and I was a little bit of an old baby lol. Leti spoke with me in the lobby. Told her the story of how I didn't eat today she offered to go get me food while I was waiting and I declined. I don't have any tattoos yet, but I did come to Inkestry to remove a diamond nose piercing I've had in for about 10 years. Scheduling was easy over the phone and the receptionist was able to get me a good Saturday appointment. The piercing removal and replacement was only $20! The studio is very clean and organized. Daniel helped remove my piercing and was so great and considerate throughout. I was nervous about the pain because I wasn't sure what to expect having it in for so long but I felt no pain at all! If you want a finished tattoo do NOT see Joseph Flores It's now been about 2 yrs ago that I walked in & had a consolation appt WITH Joseph Flores . He agreed to do my tattoo after discussing what I wanted done. So the appointments start.  We got through a fair amount of work on my backpiece, however Covid hit, everything was on pause. When they opened back up we resumed. Long story short, he NEVER fully finished my backpiece.  I reached out to him about 3 times, months apart, yet never got an appointment.  I put up with Joseph almost always being late, 1 1/2 to 2 hrs late. Apparently, my time was not that important. So, I found an artist that was very much willing to finish my piece.  Even the new artist attempted to reach Joseph, yet no response back from him again. I am so angry & extremely disappointed!  All my time spent waiting for him to show up on time to the appointments,  yet I never complained, all the money spent & even gave him a few gifts to say thank you & this is the treatment I get in return!  Absolutely shameful & BS!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND HIM AT ALL!! Especially when he can't finish what he started!! read more

I wish I could leave a zero star review for the piercer. There were two of us that needed to get piercings and after my experience, we left and drove 45 minutes to go to zebras because it was awful! He never asked me my name, or shared his or anything and started off the conversation by saying that he doesn't have a good personality and isn't a bubbly person or going to ask any questions or anything like that and to make up for his bad personality he said he is good at piercing... he made me feel so stupid to the point where I just wanted to cry. I completely shut down. Every time he said something it felt like he was trying to set up an argument or something it was so so so weird. I've never in my life encountered someone who openly said that they basically were not a nice person and if I didn't like it I could leave... like what?! Thats how he introduced himself and started the appt...not with his name or any kindness just that. I had made an appointment over a month in advance this was supposed to be for my birthday. He made what was supposed to be a fun experience with my sister a terrible one. Not only that after already touching my ear and getting everything prepped and already stating that I would have to pay him once he opened up the sanitary liquid he said that he forgot to order the diamond studs and didn't have them in stock and would be using silver ball studs. I was so upset I hate silver and was looking forward to the diamond studs that I'm paying for and then I was excited for and now I have these ugly silver ball studs that I'm stuck with and had to pay for. Now if I come back I can pay for diamond studs - except there wont be a next time because I'm not going back. This was an absolutely horrible horrendous experience and I'm just so glad that I got my sister out of there and somewhere where they actually respected her were super kind and helped her pick out beautiful jewelry. There were so many other things that made this experience awful but you get the gist. Please read the other reviews you will see OVER and OVER again people saying very similar things to what I'm sharing. Trust me. Don't get pierced here. read more

Got a piercing here from Danny well over a year and a half ago, just a third stud on my ear (wanted a lobe). Danny is super nice but I got a weird vibe from him. Flash forward to 6 months ago, my piercing still isn't healed and is giving me tons of problems. Decided to go to another piercer to check it out and the piercer told me that Danny pierced on the point where my cartilage and lobe meet and that it will always give me problems! New piercer told me he was in shock Danny would pierce it right there and that it was a rookie mistake. I'm super angry, Shayna (the older piercer at Inkestry) would never have pierced me in a place if she knew it would cause issues. This man is a "professional" and yet he doesn't even know where to pierce my ear??? Avoid this place now. such a shame, Shayna was awesome and people at the shop are nice, but don't risk it! Go to Zebra if you have to, or Go to Blue Star in Concord where the piercer actually knows what he's doing... read more

Very impressed and happy with my first tattoo. Scheduling an appointment is super easy and accessible. My tattoo artist Gesso is a real one and is a professional at work. Clean, and comfortable environment to be in. During the session, Gesso reassured me, and helped me get through my first tattoo. I see so many horrible reviews about the piercer Danny. I had a wonderful experience. He was completely sanitary, he walked me through every single instruction. He also walked me through the whole piercing process and to breathe through the pain. Don't let the past reviews make you not come see him, I'm really glad i did. He knew exactly what he was doing from beginning to end and i trusted him immediately. I could tell that he's good at what he does. People say he was rude, i didn't get that vibe at all. He even told me the second we met that he has a monotone voice and he promises he's not disinterested or rude. I loved that! As a right of passage, I turned 18 and decided I wanted to get a tattoo. I went in with no appointment (my bad), but Joel took me in and did a really good job with my simple idea I had in my mind. During the initial appointment, Joel allowed me full reign of Netflix which was pretty awesome, not to mention a bunch of wholesome stories about other tattoos he had done recently. I got a tattoo here with Gesso and my all around experience is a 10/10. My friend and I were trying to schedule to go get tattoos together but for weeks between the three of us we had something come up. Gesso was more than willing to collaborate and pick new times/dates. After our third reschedule, I ended up going in on my own. While Gesso was drawing my tattoo and we were chatting, he learned I had a love for Harry Potter. When we were going to start tattooing, he asked what I wanted to watch and while I was looking, he suggested Harry Potter. I had said no because the tattoo was only 30 minutes max and he didn't need to purchase it. He said he would rather have me distracted with my favorite movie and bought it for me to watch. I feel mixed about my latest piercing with Danny. TLDR: He did a great job on the piercing itself, but the customer service aspect was really lacking. If customer service is very important to you, I'd say to go somewhere else. Danny did a very professional job. Everything was clean and sanitary. He worked quickly and was great at distracting me and helping me breathe through the piercing process so I didn't get too scared. There were a few things that struck me as odd on the customer service end: my friend wasn't allowed to sit on the extra seat in the room while I got my piercing, I was told a lot of precautions about activities I should avoid after I got the piercing, not before. He didn't explain the price of my follow up appointment so I assumed it would be fee. It wasn't, so if you want to know ahead of time you need to ask. And if you show up early to your appointment you might end up watching him playing video games until your precise appointment time (this wouldn't be such a big deal if Inkestry's waiting chair wasn't so uncomfortable). And there are some things about the shop I don't love, mostly that they don't always pick up their office phone and their mailbox is always full so you can't leave a message. All these things were really minor, small details I didn't love, but what made me decide I won't be going back is what happened when I had a problem with my piercing. While I slept, my piercing had been pushed forward and skin had covered the back of my piercing. I was leaving the country the next day so I called to see if I could book a last minute appointment with Danny. He didn't have room, and wasn't comfortable giving me advice over the phone, which is fine. But I was pretty scared, so I just wanted someone to take 5 minutes to tell me what was wrong and give me some advice. I didn't want to wait 10 days and spend my whole vacation with my earring in my ear. So I asked Danny who he would suggest I go to in the Bay Area to get it looked at since he couldn't take me, he said no one. He told me no one but him was licensed in quite a large area and that there was no one in the Bay he trusted to look at it. That struck me as really strange. So I walked in to another shop, they gave me instructions on how I could take of this at home, I followed their instructions and my piercing looks great! read more

We did however me Chris Gradillas, and he was AMAZING he was not only able to give us both awesome tattoos but he help great conversation the whole time! This shop is extremely clean and super spacious. Also, each of the artist has their own room for optimal privacy. It's nice. Everyone in the shop is super nice and super inviting. We even got to watch TV and play video games while waiting. I went to Matt to get a cover up done on my left arm. I asked him to cover up a fan I had there with a fox. He drew up multiple drawings and changed them whenever I found something that I wanted different. He may be blunt, but he's an artistic genius and you should take his advice into consideration. He also agreed to do the entire piece in one sitting, which took forever, but was greatly appreciated because I didn't want to o back for a second session. Over all, it was a great experience and I'm sure Im going back. You can check out the finished piece in pictures. I love it. :) His decor is awesome. I love sluts, too. I walked in for my first tattoo. Had a picture for them to use. Place is clean, was greeted by a young gal and in no time I was connected with Kevin. He gave me some advice on the tattoo I wanted to memorialize my mother. He did a stencil, tested it and before I knew it I had a quality tattoo! It was very precise according to the picture I brought in. It was easy, and the quality is great. Kevin says he does free touch ups so I can come in again if needed. Okay it has been a while since I had my tattoo done but I have now made it a point to get on here and yelp about this shop. Glory did a piece of my foot...leopard print to be exact. Yes you can fuck uo leopard print but I brought in a couple of pictures and I even told him how I wanted it placed. He didnt like the placement and showed me something better. I appreciated his honesty and eye for detail. nonetheless he was easy to talk to and friendly. good experience and I would ABSOLUTELY go back. I have had so many compliments on my foot and it is EXTREMELY sexy! ...FYI I have multiple pieces from different artists and I was very skeptical to go to a new person, because I love the two artists that have worked on me before. If I could give no stars I would. The one star I guess will go to the receptionist who was very nice. I don't think I've ever have had a good experience here. But here's the latest experience that made me finally leave a review. My husband and I walked into inkestry on a weekend end of June beginning of July. We both wanted to get tattoos nothing too crazy and nothing big. The receptionist politely explained that everyone was busy for the day but we were more than welcome to look at books to see what kind of styles everyone tattoos in. Great no problem at all and completely understandable we were walk-in after all. After we were done looking the receptionist came up to us and asked if we would like to write down what we wanted to get done, our phone numbers, and names. She assured us someone would call or text us by the end of day to set something up. We never heard from someone by the end of day, end of the week, or end of the month. Now here we are almost 3 months later and we NEVER heard from anyone. All I wanted was coordinates with some redwood trees in black and white. I'm not sure if because both of the tattoos we wanted to get were small or simple and that's why we never heard back or what but seriously that's just terrible business. My husband and I both have plenty of tattoos and plan on getting more in our life but I can tell you that I'll never come here again or should I say attempt to come here again. My other bad experience had to do with their piercer years ago. I called to come in to have my tragus earrings replaced because I couldn't get them out on my own and needed them changed out for a different style for school at the time. I called ahead to make sure they would be there and they said they would be. 20 min later I arrive their not there. They tried calling this person numerous times and texting them. I waited for over an hour and decided to cut my losses. I ended up driving to 12 monkeys where the piercer waited for me to get there to change them out for me before they left for the day. Needless to say I've never had a good experience here and don't plan on attempting to try anymore. It's just not worth it and completely unprofessional. Made an appointment multiple days in advance to get my tongue pierced. Got there 30 minutes early. So I waited until it was time for my appointment. Then I continued to wait while the piercer flirted with someone for about 20 minutes. After waiting over an hour he finally decided to tell me that he couldn't pierce me because his "jewelry wasn't sterile." Why the hell wasn't his jewelry sterile in the first place?! I'll never come back here for a tattoo or piercing especially if they are telling me they don't use sterile tools. What a fucking joke. Anyways, I walked out of there and went straight to Simms.
