The line work was inconsistent, shading was poorly blended, and the overall result did not reflect the quality shown on his page. When I reached out privately to address my concerns, I was hoping for professionalism and resolution. Instead of taking accountability or offering any form of constructive conversation, I was blocked. Being blocked for respectfully expressing dissatisfaction speaks volumes. As clients, we invest not only money but trust and permanence into tattoos. Mistakes can happen -- but how an artist handles feedback is what truly defines their professionalism.

Derek is friendly, creates a comfortable atmosphere, and is extremely professional from the moment you meet him through the actual tattoo process. The studio is clean, and Derek also spends time cleaning everything before you sit down. For me, I was surprised tattooing didn't hurt as much as I expected, but that also is part of Derek's technique. It does take a while to get an appointment as he is booked solid a year out. But this is a good thing--it means that Derek takes what he does seriously and he's got the clientele that appreciates that; if you want a walk-in-type tattoo, you are not going to get that kind of work here. I lucked into a cancellation, especially as my tattoo was on the smaller side (remember, first tattoo).
