The older lady basically told them to leave, claiming that "there's always a queue". First, there was a free table available. Second, the only two ladies in line were not amused by how the owner/manager handled the situation. They even checked on us to comment on the older lady's actions, expressing how appalled they were with that. When he saw cups he liked, he would gently pick them up and share them with me. I fully understand that in a store selling ceramics, staff may be concerned about items being broken, so I consistently reminded my son to handle everything carefully. He is old enough to understand and follow instructions. Because I was selecting several small gifts, we spent some time browsing. At that time, the store was not busy. There were two staff members present: a younger Asian female employee and an older Caucasian female employee, approximately in her 50s or 60s. While we were browsing, the older employee came near us, looked directly at my son, shook her head, and displayed a clearly displeased and disdainful expression. I found her reaction shocking and unacceptable. If there were concerns about potential breakage, a polite verbal reminder would have been appropriate. Instead, her attitude felt judgmental and disrespectful. At that moment, my son was holding a cup, but he did not break anything, nor was he being loud or disruptive. This raises a serious question: does your store not welcome children? Or does your staff assume that children will inevitably damage merchandise? Or is this simply an issue of poor customer service or even discrimination based on appearance or race? Ironically, the following day when we returned to purchase tea, a woman in her 60s entered the store behind us. She picked up a teacup without noticing it had a lid, which then fell to the floor and shattered. On that day, only the younger Asian employee was present, and she handled the situation professionally, without impatience or reprimanding the customer. I would therefore like to remind the older staff member that customers should not be judged based on appearance. BUYER BEWARE - WEBSITE HACKED?…read more I've ordered from Republica a bunch of times before with no issues and really enjoy their roasts but my last order was a mess. Paid through their website using PayPal and the money went to some random business name I've never heard of. A few days later they emailed me saying they never got the funds and basically told me to contact PayPal to try to get the money back. Their explanation was that it was a "PayPal technical issue" and that I should always double check the payee name before sending money. That doesn't sit right with me. If I'm checking out on your official website I shouldn't have to second guess whether the payment is actually going to you. Their site was either hacked, their PayPal setup was compromised, or they misconfigured it. How can I check out on YOUR website, have a receipt showing 4 lbs of roasted coffee, but the seller name on PayPal is some random name not associated to them? In addition to that, when they contacted me about my order they accidentally CC'd other people who were most likely affected by the same issue. Their official responses: "Unfortunately, due to a technical issue with PayPal's payment system, some payments were mistakenly authorized to an account not associated with us. In some cases, transactions have shown the recipient's name as "Toko Maria" or "Toko Putri." Please note that Republica Coffee never received these funds." "We wanted to clarify that due to a recent technical issue with PayPal, some payments were mistakenly authorized to accounts not associated with Republica Coffee. If your transaction shows any recipient other than Republica Coffee Roasters Inc., the payment did not reach us. As a result, your current order has been cancelled, and you can place a new order."
