Regarding: Indy Endodontics (Avon) Appointment Office Personnel I learned from my regular dentist I had an abscessed tooth and would need to get my first root canal. My dentist said they will provide the referral and 3D scan to the root canal specialists I chose. I contacted Indy Endodontics (IE) because they accepted my dental insurance and received very good reviews. Upon contacting IE it didn't take to long to find out they wanted to charge me up to $315 to do another 3D scan. This was evident when they would not look at the 3D scan my dentist sent them on a CD and then attach in an email using Dropbox. I do not recommend this practice as long as they give a potential patient the run around. It is hard enough to go through a root canal when you have to have a crown drilled through to remove the calcified nerve. Never imagined I'd be writing a 5 star review about a root canal, but here we are. I'm also not recommending them but if you have to get one, go here. I arrived right on schedule for my appointment and they were ready for me. Ben and the lady assisting him (I feel terrible for not catching her name, but she was awesome) repeatedly checked in to make sure I was ok, thoroughly explaining what they were doing every step of the way...which was super cool because I love to know all the things. As someone with a high tolerance for all things, I was anxious about not being numb enough but I felt zero pain during or after. I've had a great experience each time I have been here which happens to have been twice. The most recent time was a couple weeks ago for a root canal extraction and root canal "touch up" (on a previous root canal I had done here). The receptionists were always very friendly and informative/answered any questions I had. Pam and Dr. William Adams were so great. They made me feel comfortable and informed during all of my visits/follow-ups and they both helped me understand the why's and explained my X-Rays to me until I understood. During the extraction, Dr. Adams did a great job at informing what he was doing and about to do so I wasn't clueless. Regardless of being naturally tense and anxious for dental services they made me feel as comfortable as possible. I absolutely despise the dentist in all ways, but if you ever need work done, this is the place to go. Everyone I have dealt with is AMAZING, and the way they treat you let's you know that they really care. They will get you in very quickly, and they actually call and text you the days after just to check on you and make sure everything is going well. I have been there 2 separate times and each Doctor was great, but I will tell you that Dr. Joseph B. Adams is the most thorough, caring, and all around pleasant Doctor I have ever encountered. The Receptionist was very friendly and I can't say enough about Katelyn who is a fabulous Dental Assistant who put me at ease and explained every thoroughly. i also can't thank Dr Nomin Aomin for the incredible job she did with my Root Canal . I have had many dental procedures in the past and never thought that I would ever say that I would have a great Root Canal procedure but I can honestly say that Katelyn and Dr Aomin for the professionalism, knowledge and care they exhibited during the whole process. I'd say quality of care provided to potential patients. I was referred out for a consultation & unfortunately did not have the experience I was hoping for. The nurse/tech that I was given wasn't able to get a decent 2D x-ray & accidentally made me bleed during the process (didn't acknowledge it at all). Aside from that small issue, she generally was a bit combative. I feel she was maybe just trying to be informative, however the delivery was slightly condescending. I ended up not even meeting with a Doctor, which was partially my fault, however I was given an expectation for appointment duration that wasn't accurate at all. I called the Avon location after the Endo that I was referred to by my dentist advised me that they couldn't see me until October for a root canal. They were able to get me in quickly for a consult, my back molar broke, causing unbelievable pain. The assistant came in, told me everything she was going to do, and why she was doing it. She said she had been with the practice for 20 years! I was seen by Pfotenhauer, which made me so happy because I had read the reviews and they were so positive. He spent 15 minutes with me, asking me how he could make this process easy for me, they use a screen where they draw on the x-ray and explain exactly what they need to do. He was very calm when I told him I have severe dental anxiety and asked how they could make it better, I asked when they did the procedure if I could bring my stuffed animal with me because it's soothing to rub the ear when I am anxious. He said yes of course! The one downside is that they quote prices before they do insurance verification and put a hold on your card for an estimated cost instead of running the insurance and having you pay the actual cost. I have never had that done before. It would also be helpful if they would work with payment plans because dental work is expensive even with insurance :( read more

After having multiple poor experiences at dentists over the years, I get very, very high anxiety during any type of procedure. I paid extra for sedation during my root canal which didn't even work. At least they said they would not charge me the $150!!! fee, but they're waiving it as a courtesy; they should waive it because they didn't do their job. I wouldn't have gone, I would have gone to a different place, had I known they wouldn't make sure I was sedated before they did the procedure. read more

Dr. Ramsey has done about 4 of my root canals...he is the only one I trust with this technically challenging job. I've been going to him for about 15 years now. I drive about an hour to see him rather than going to a local endodontist...that's how much faith I have in his ability. He recently took care of another one for me and did a great job. I was referred here by primary dentist due to an infection, and the need for a root canal that she felt would be better suited for a specialist. Understandable. I was assigned to Dr. Benjamin Adams. He was very detailed in describing everything that was happening and his discovery. Unfortunately, I needed more than a root canal, and ended up needing dental surgery. Let's start by telling you I have a fear of the dentist and quite frankly of having anything done to my teeth. That leads me to long periods in between dental visits. This last time, my cavity was too deep to be repaired by a regular filling and required a root canal. I was extremely nervous going in, but Dr. Paul J. Ley has highly recommended by my dentist and I was in severe pain, so I went. The staff at Dr. Ley's office was great. His assistant (I don't know her proper title), Korina, was calm and put me at ease. Dr. Ley was friendly and explained (with a drawing) everything that was going to happen and what I should expect. They gave me sunglasses to wear during the procedure. Everything happened the way it was supposed to - and he even put a thumbs up in my selfie that I will share here as well. Dr. Benjamin Adams is seriously one of the sweetest, most detail oriented, and personable dentists I have ever met. I wish he could be my regular dentist. He explained every step, checked in with me multiple times, and even gave me his cell phone if I had problems-- who does this?!? I cannot speak highly enough about him. Indianapolis Endodontics PC is THE place for a root canal. Never thought I would be saying something like that. After having a very difficult time trying to make a root canal appointment with a different company of dentists, Indianapolis Endodontics made the scheduling VERY easy. From my very first phone call with Libby, I had a good feeling about this place. Then came time for the actual appointment. There are several dentists in this practice and, probably by some sort of intricate endodoctic lottery, Dr. Ashleigh Rexford became my Endodontist. JACKPOT! Not only was she kind, compassionate and caring, but she's a really good Endodontist. After some initial testing to make sure that I really did need a root canal and very carefully discussing my specific needs due to a chronic illness, her main objective was to make sure that I was as comfortable as possible while she did the serious business of canalling my root. I have had quit few dental experiences so far, actually in 3 different countries, including 3 different cities in the United States. Never before I had such a GREAT experience. Dr Ashleigh Rexford is stellar. I never met her before my appointment, and I have no connection with her to write this review, but I am a person in healthcare industry and I do understand small details, which actually make the difference in healthcare delivery. This is the reason I write this review. She practices evidence based medicine (explains based on data/research why a treatment plan is superior), is well read and she has superb surgical skills (very soft hands). She is available, compassionate and always asks you about your comfort. Your schedule comes before hers and accommodates your needs. She did my root canal at 06:45 AM and at 08:00 I was at work. Dr Rexford is excellent, did an amazing job on my previous disaster and I am very glad I became her patient. I chose to go to her practice based on the reviews here at yelp, and one thing I can tell, in retrospect, it was a very wise decision. Indianapolis Endodontics is THE place to go for your endodontic needs. No longer can root canal therapy be thought of as a painful procedure. Over the years I have benefited from the professional skills of many of their doctors but most recently I was treated by Dr. Spolnik (one of the two 'Founding Fathers' of Indianapolis Endodontics). Dr Spolniks compassionate care is outstanding. When the need arose for me to visit with this practice I was put on Dr. Spolniks schedule at the end of the day - his decision to see me as soon as possible even though it required him to work past his normal end of day. During the root canal therapy infection was found and although he could not finish the treatment that day he once again put me on his schedule the following week at the end of day, again working beyond his normal end of day. His expertise, his innovative skills, his compassion and his degree of perfection did not go unnoticed. I highly recommend this dental practice not only for the professionalism of the dentists but the support staff as well. His chair side assistant is remarkable - very personable, very knowledgeable, very caring. And it doesn't stop there - the front office ladies do their jobs with professionalism and efficiency.
