Stopped in for a quick lunch as I was in Oneonta for some business. Located on Main Street with parking for two hours, I was lucky to find a spot near the restaurant. Place was not busy so got served right away . No buffet available. Pricing is mostly similar to other Indian restaurants but little more being in downtown... I ordered naan and Malai Kofta which came with side of rice. It was delicious. Seating area was nice but limited booth seating.

It's great every time I visit. I tried the special naan this time that has piece of tandoori chicken. I still like the garlic naan better since I always dip my bread into the curry. Definitely try if you're in the area.

Ok so the wifey and I walked in and it was a bit dark and gloomy... But we read good reviews so we kept the faith that it would be good. We tried to order some adult beverages but was Informed they lost their liquor license. Again not a good sign, but again we kept the faith. After ordering they placed paper plates and plastic wear in front of us, not gonna lie I was ready to peace out but my wife convinced me to stay. (She always knows best.) Well I'm glad she did cause.... DAAAAM the food was AMAZING! Best Naan I've ever had and the shrimp and chicken were cooked PERFECT. This is a 4 thumbs up. Get er done.

This review probably shouldn't be a solid 5 stars but you have to grade on a curve, because who…read morewould expect Indian food this good in a place like Cooperstown? So much Indian food outside major metropolitan centers in the US is either terribly underflavored, in a sad attempt to level down to provincial palates, or by contrast overspiced, in the equally ridiculous assumption that you convey authenticity via sheer capsicum, that one approaches a place like this warily. And yet what you have here is delicately-calibrated sauces, food in which you can actually taste individual seasonings and savor their interactions, the way it's supposed to be! Samosas are fresh, crunchy crispy crust rather than the doughy glop for which we so frequently settle, and rice is perfectly fluffy. Lunch servings are just the right size - not the gargantuan american portions that let you know how dubious is the quality of the meat (margins can only be maintained on those stupid portion sizes by sacrificing quality). I won't say this place would get 5 stars in London or Chicago but it's well worth your time if you're in Cooperstown instead.

I also ordered some raita and papadum. Food was nice but the saag was missing a little something, maybe some hing or kasuri methi. For drinks I had a lovely Kingfisher beer and a chai.

Wonderful touches like antique salt and pepper shakers, candle light and a fine little garden. Service was spot on. Fine place to take a date. I did and you should too.

The waitress initially seemed friendly and came to take our drinks orders. I mentioned to her we are also ready to order food. She put on a stern face and started wagging her fingers in front of of my face and said " that is not how we do it here, you ordered drink first and I'll come back later to take your food orders. There are 7 people ahead of you and the chef has to cook for them first". I was stunned and shocked to hear such mean response! If I was alone, I'd march out of the restaurant immediately but my family was there so I stayed and tried to keep my cool. Every process took sooooo long from ordering drinks, drinks came, ordering food, food came then another big disappointed moment- the hyped up fish and chips with greasy battered, mushy fish and filled with ammonia scent as in spoiled fish. Overall, it was a very bad experience. On a good note, we can now say- never again The Tulip and Rose.

It was very quiet inside on a Sunday afternoon but it was nice. Our waiter, might've been the owner, was so kind and caring. He would explain the dish or ingredients to us and brought us pamdam complimentary to start. Everything we tried was very flavorful, made so well, and the presentation was beautiful with edible flower and glitter a top all the dishes we ordered. Their menu is also very big and would love to come back to try some more of their dishes.

She was looking for advice from me, but I was very happy when the owner came by and said he could select our food and we trusted him.He asked us a few questions about spice level, proteins, etc. He said he would bring us an appetizer, a chicken entree and a vegetable entree. He also brought us 2 hot chai drinks. We agreed it was the best chai we've ever had....it was mildly sweet and the spices were perfect. We were brought as an appetizer...fried cauliflower with a Manchurian sauce which was sweet, mildly spicy and a touch sour..... perfect. We got 4 beautiful veggie balls..... finely minced veggies with paneer in a very creamy sauce. The taste was a little sweet and when eaten on the super hot and fresh naan it was delicious. Our last dish was chicken kebabs, I believe made in the tandoori oven with spices and served with a beautiful sweet, creamy tomato sauce. We didn't ask for dessert but we're brought a complementary rice pudding to share... heavenly! We were checked on several times and water glasses were kept filled. We are both big water drinkers. I was so impressed with both service and food. If I could rate it more than 5 stars, I would do it!!
