We have eaten here 3 times in the past two months for dinner and it has been excellent each time. We have been with a group of 7 and twice with a table of 4 and each time we were provided excellent service and delicious food. We are all Indian food aficionados and are discerning diners. A nice little restaurant. I was greeted in a friendly manner by the server who invited me to sit at the bar while I gave him my takeout order. The owner eventually came around after a few minutes and offered me a glass of water while I waited. He was very pleasant. I ordered an entrée, chicken tikka saag (which included basmati rice), naan, aloo paratha, raitha (not included with breads; ordered separately) and gulab jamun. In about 10 minutes my order was ready. I was there slightly after dinner service hours. I did notice that there were a couple of tables that had not been cleaned, but it looked like there was only one server working the dining room. The food was good. I had ordered medium spicy for my entrée, and when I ate at home it was not spicy to me. I'm not sure if they accidentally made it mild or not. It looks like it is a popular spot for locals. They do offer beer and wine, and it does look like they may make some mixed drinks as I noted some bottles of mixer, which may be for the Lassi drinks. All in all, it was a good experience. Every delivery order of the same item--Tika Masala is different. Sometimes watery, other times thick like oatmeal. Bland or too spicy. Rice is cold and sticky. No wonder the business and building is on the market. If you like their food--sorry but you haven't had real Indian food. read more

Stopped in for a quick lunch as I was in Oneonta for some business. Located on Main Street with parking for two hours, I was lucky to find a spot near the restaurant. Place was not busy so got served right away . No buffet available. Pricing is mostly similar to other Indian restaurants but little more being in downtown... This place is cozy and comfortable with quiet, prompt service. Had the chicken korma and lamb vindaloo. Vindaloo was good, but the korma was stand out! Order it spicy. I also loved the raita, they add a tiny bit of cumin to it which made me want to just devour it with a spoon. Seems to be very popular for take out. read more

We are familiar with quality Indian cuisine having dined in excellent establishments in NYC and in India. Since they first opened we have been dining in and taking out on a regular basis. While some of the cooks in the past were spotty, their present kitchen team is spot on. Every dish we have tried has been delicious. Don't be afraid to stop in and try it if you are new to Indian cuisine or have had a bad experience with other over spicy restaurants. We wore the family out hiking so ordered take out from the Indian Grill. I really glad we did. Although the ambiance was that of a New York chop house, the food was excellent! . It was ready immediately after I arrived. Everyone enjoyed the dishes (although we are not very familiar with Indian Food) and there was plenty left over for Thursday breakfast. Ok so the wifey and I walked in and it was a bit dark and gloomy... But we read good reviews so we kept the faith that it would be good. We tried to order some adult beverages but was Informed they lost their liquor license. Again not a good sign, but again we kept the faith. After ordering they placed paper plates and plastic wear in front of us, not gonna lie I was ready to peace out but my wife convinced me to stay. (She always knows best.) In humble yet pleasant surroundings, this Indian food was amazing. I've eaten in India, and live in NYC, where great Indian food restaurants abound. Their bel puri was the best I've ever had, as was my Shrimp Tikka Masala; Shrimp soup was nice, as were the 2 spinach dishes that I sampled. Generous portions, friendly staff, and great food. Every year for Thanksgiving my family does a road trip. As much as I love traveling with my husband and fur baby I'm always panicking about places closing early or being closed. Of course I appreciate and love that businesses want to stay closed to spend time with their loved ones but I'm also so grateful for those that do stay open for travelers like us. So here we were on our way to Pennsylvania on Thanksgiving eve with me in the car wanting a meal that's not from a gas station or fast food and I'm so glad we detoured into Oneonta. Full disclosure I'll never not want Indian food so I was extremely excited to see Indian Grill open. I ordered the vegetable samosas. vegetable spring rolls, aloo paratha and chicken biryani. I know it's a lot of food but our hotel room had a fridge. Everything about this place is great. The restaurant itself has a quaint and cozy feel, the service was wonderful and the FOOD was delicious. I had enough food for car snacks, late night munchies and next day lunch. We live about an hour away from Indian Grill but I have no doubt I will be returning to try more items from their menu while exploring the lovely town of Oneonta. read more

We have ordered food to-go from Indian Grill throughout the pandemic at least twice a month and sometimes more. It's had a few different cooks during that time and a few bumps in the road but it's overall been consistently great. We love the chicken tikka masala, saag paneer and Indian grill byrani along with garlic naan, and chicken korma too. You can't go wrong here! Very nice people, worth trying if you love small mountain towns and ethnic food out in the country! Flavorful and very filling! My sweetheart and I stopped in on a Sunday night for date night, and we were delighted by the authentic Indian service (which was kind and efficient) and cuisine. The naan (both plain and paneer) was that magically impossible combination of hot-crispy-chewy-buttery, and the North Indian Tandoori Chicken was wonderfully balanced for spice and creaminess. Raita and papadum were both on point and were a perfect accompaniment to the veggie samosas. Value for money was excellent, both for quality and (definitely) quantity. I should probably also say that my sweetheart and I recently moved upstate from Brooklyn. We had access to a LOT of good ethnic food very close to home. This restaurant was better on all counts than the local Indian restaurant in our old neighborhood. I just ordered the Chicken Biriyani to go. I can honestly say it's horrible. It completely lacked flavor. The Biriyani rice was very white which showed a lack of spices. The menu states it contains cashews and raisins. I didn't find one in my dish. Chicken Biriyani is one of my favorite Indian dishes. I've eaten a lot of it from different places and I can honestly say this is the worst. This was like eating white rice mixed with chicken. read more

I was very disappointed by the dishonesty. We called and asked if they serve Halal food, they said they are a halal restaurant. However, when we arrived we did not find any Halal certification signs on the menu. I asked the person at the counter if the meat is indeed halal and who is the distributor. This place was great! The food and service were excellent. They even gave us some complementary pakoras which were so good. However, there were a few things the restaurant can improve one. The first was they told us "they were out of seltzer," but they had some in the back. Staying in the topic of drinks, we ordered salt lassi and let me tell you, it was so salty we had to send it back. We also ordered rose and mango lassi which were not cold enough. The mango taste was nice but the Rose tastes like strawberry yogurt. All in all, the food here was great! read more

I'm no connoisseur of Indian cuisine but I sure do enjoy stuffing it in my face. Indian Grill is always a good choice, though they occasionally don't have everything on the menu, luckily there's a lot to choose from. Every meals been absolutely delicious, and though the interior decor is fairly simple, the small size of the place keeps it quiet and intimate. The Service is always attentive and kind, making it that much more enjoyable. Takeouts always a good choice as well read more
