My colleague and I were driving east from the Bay Area, and I did not want to eat fast food for dinner, so I did some research for well-rated restaurants in Manteca that were open late. Indian Cafe Restaurant fit that bill; I called to confirm that it closed at 9:30 p.m. and was pleased to learn that closing time was actually 10 o'clock. It helped to have a little wiggle room since we didn't leave Oakland until well after 8. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. I ordered the Chicken Shahi Korma -- my favorite Indian dish. I often go with garlic naan, but I saw broccoli naan on the menu and was intrigued, so I gave it a try. The Korma was tasty, and I really enjoyed that it was warm. It came with a healthy portion of rice. I shouldn't have finished it all in one sitting, but it really hit the spot, and on that night, I indulged. I don't spend a lot of time in Manteca so it may be a while before I return, but I would definitely recommend Indian Cafe Restaurant. read more

This place is the definition of Panjabi Hospitality. The guys working here are incredible. They can think of what I need before I ask. Example: extra sweet sauce with bhel, onion and cucumber with sabji & actually complementary coffee when we asked for extra cup. I have not seen a better hospitality in last 10 years. This place is amazing! My wife, 2 sons and myself think this is the best in town. And we have tried them all. We come here and have the waitress Navjot help us and she is very good and she can remember all 12 different things we order all at one time. Me, I love extra spicy so I order the chicken curry extra spicy and also the Kadahi Chicken extra spicy. Kadahi Chicken is already a spicy one but the way I order it, wow, it will make me sweat! My wife and kids love the Chicken Tikka Marsala, butter chicken and also big favorite is the Chili Chicken. For appetizers, we order out favorite which is vegetable pakora and Chicken Tikka boneless also sometimes order the chicken pakora. Also we love our garlic Naan, plain naan and also Roti. We took some friends out to eat with us via the recommendation from other Indians in Modesto. The food was very good, hot, very fresh and served very quickly. Navi the waitress was very kind and sweet. She mentally noted our order without a pen and pad and remembered everything with perfection. Indian restaurants are not known for customer service. This is where they always fail, but it was very refreshing to see everybody in the restaurant, pay attention to our needs multiple times they came to our table to make sure if everything was OK if we needed more napkins more water. Went after a long time bc I been disappointed many times with there tandoori chicken platters when they serve you the aluminum is always dirty. Its disgusting. One of the best Punjabi restaurants in the area. We went slightly off menu and ordered different Punjabi dishes. Kadhi pakora was really good. Also tried the Rasmalai for desserts and that didn't disappoint. Can't believe they also serve Tawa rotis. For folks who don't know - it's not a fancy bread like Garlic Naan etc - but what is cooked at home everyday. Didn't try goat meat. Will do that next time. This place is always busy. You can witness lots of customers placing large orders for catering. The entire restaurant was filled with family orientation conversations among the natives with the music of their culture playing in the background. The staff are all attentive and friendly. We were greeted as soon as we walked in. They have plenty of booth seating. The tables are preset with menus, pitchers of water with cups, plates, and utensils. The AC is on blast so bring a sweater with you. The aroma of the restaurant activated our salivary glands. The food here is good. We trust that this restaurant carries wholesome ingredients and seasons their dishes to palatable standards. The staff would often check on us to make sure we were set. The lentil chips were on the house along with the chicken with vegetable dish. Now let's get to the food! The appetizer, "Gobi Manchurian" is marinated cauliflower with flour coating sauteed with garlic, ginger, chili, and soy sauce is sooooooo good!!!! Wow, it's fire! And I don't mean the spicy levels because I asked for mild. The flavors were blended to perfection. The cauliflower was cooked just right, not over or undercooked. One of my favorite vegetable dishes by far. The appetizer, "Samosa Chaat (Indian Street Style)" is also super delicious. Although a bit messy, the flavors complemented each other. The yogurt adds a creamy texture and balances out the samosa. They just go so well together. The extra garbanzo beans are an added gem. Butter chicken....bomb, fire, omg goodness...I am running out of vocabulary. Although the food did take a tiny while to make, it was worth the wait. We are not complaining and are appreciative of this establishment. Everything we ordered is what I considered perfect. This is my go-to Indian cuisine in Manteca. Don't take my word for it. Excellent food and amazing tea! We were here for 3 days in great wolf lodge and all 3 days we came here. Loved the food and the hospitality. They went all the way to make us feel comfortable and the food was delicious. Such a great find for lunch. Hubby and I are new to the area and have been in search for our go-to Indian restaurant and I think we've found the one! They're conveniently located in a shopping area with a ton of retail, so you can get a lot of errands done then reward yourself with a tasty meal. Hubby and I ended up ordering one vegetarian and one non-vegetarian thali. A thali is basically a whole meal complete with appetizer, side dishes, 2-3 mains, and a dessert. It's a small portion of each main, but it allows you to sample a few things on the menu if you can't decide what you want. I don't remember all the dishes we had, but notably we had their saag paneer, fish tikka, and butter chicken. All were very tasty with the right amount of heat. Even though one thali is supposed to be food for one person, we ended up taking some left overs home (but no complaints here!). Is by far the best I've had the chicken Marsala is excellent as well as the fish appetizer they servery and the mint sauce well let's just say I'm NOT a fan of mint that is until I tasted their mint sauce and the place is spotless clean and the service is top notch. I've eaten there about four times now and the consistency is always there and the portions well the bowls are full to the top and the naan selection is nice and it's very tasty and every time I've had it it's cooked perfectly. This is a great place to get great food and great service! The people always have smile on their face and food is on the table promptly. Spice levels are perfect(we like it pretty spicy). Prices are reasonable and all the dishes are tasty. Only downside was on our 2nd visit there was a 10-12 year old kid kept coming over to our table to sell candy, and asking for tips and donations to every customer in the restaurant. We bought $20 candy to help him out but soon found out that he was a well trained con artist. The QR code option was easy and didn't have to wait for the bill after. Food was good, we ordered the goat curry, chicken tikka masala, garlic naan and raita. They gave a free paneer curry since another customer ordered and a lot of left over from the pot in the kitchen, so that was a nice gesture. The waiter was nice enough to inform us that the rice is part of the meal (so free). There are 3 spice levels to choose from: mild, medium, spicy. Mild- not spicy Medium- a little kick Spicy- for me a little spicy Our favorite was the chicken tikka masala and garlic naan The pricing was decent, about $11.99-12.99 per entree.
