I'm surprised I haven't helped India Cafe as it's our go to Indian restaurant in Manteca. The portions are good and the price is great, $40 for a non vegetarian combo for two for dinner is a great find. And unlike buffets where I overeat, instead I can enjoy my meal and company without feeling compelled to give something else a try - or is that just me? Plus there is plenty to take home leftovers. Between the Combo for 2 and the Thali for 1, I like the thali for one better as it comes with two small portions of curry and two pieces of grilled chicken. It was better when you could choose your curry options, but now the combo comes with butter chicken and tikka masala chicken. I had a great experience at Indian Café in Manteca! I ordered the butter chicken with basmati rice, onion and garlic naan, and a yogurt lassi. Everything was delicious. The butter chicken was rich and flavorful, the rice was perfectly cooked, and the naan was fresh and soft with great flavor. The yogurt lassi was refreshing and paired perfectly with the meal. The service was excellent--very friendly and attentive. The restaurant was also very clean and had a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere. On top of that, the prices were very affordable for the quality and portion sizes. This is one of the best Indian restaurants I've been to. Food is out of this world! We tried vegetable samosas, tandoori chicken and lamb, chicken tikka masala, garlic naan and broccoli naan. All dishes were outstanding! Flavorful, piping hot and delicious all around! Quick service with a smile. The restaurant is small and was quite busy during the dinner service. My dad and I always go here every time I visit. Staff are friendly and the service is always amazing. We usually order the butter chicken spicy, lamb curry spicy, paneer naan, and vegetable pakora. This is one of the restaurants which serves stale food with all ease. And it just not happened once or twice it has happened a multiple times with me. Every time I gave them a benefit of doubt blaming the weather or peak customer timing but recently I ordered in bulk for a function and the mic veg arrived stale. They said all food was prepared freshly and hot how come it was stale when served immediately. They also have a history of serving stale samosa by just refrying them again and again and you can tell by just looking at it. Hidden gem in Manteca! I was in town for business this week and did not have high expectations from a culinary standpoint. Shame on me for assuming. I got to my hotel and saw the Indian Cafe across the street and figured I would have to try it before I left town. Well shame on me for waiting until my last night to give this place a try. When I walked in the manager was at the front and could not have been more welcoming and pleasant. I took my seat and immediately was immersed in the decor and music of India. The smells alone were enough to make me salivate. I started with the Chicken Pakora and an ice cold Taj. When the chicken arrived and I took my first bite I couldn't believe how light and crispy the coating was. There was no oiliness, just a clean crunch with an amazing depth of flavor. The staff was ever present and ready to take care of whatever I needed. I felt like an honored guest. To be honest, I probably didn't need to get a full meal, but the food was so good I couldn't stop . I decided on the Lamb Rogan Josh with some garlic Naan for my dinner. I love the heat in my meal and ordered the spicy option. The lamb meat was tender and flavorful beyond my expectations and the garlic naan had the perfect crisp on the outside with a tender center that I couldn't stop eating. If you are like me and love good Indian food, I suggest you stop and give this place your business. The staff and management are top notch and the food is as good as any I have had. A hidden gem in Manteca, just minutes from the Great Wolf Lodge. We dined here with four families after a fun-filled day at GWL, and we weren't disappointed! The food is freshly made, with authentic flavors, and offers great value for money. While we enjoyed everything we ordered, the mixed vegetable Paratha and Tandoori Fish were exceptional standouts. The only downside was the wait time--our food took quite a while to arrive, but I suppose that's the trade-off for freshly prepared dishes. Don't skip the desserts--the Malai Kulfi is outstanding. Special thanks to our server, Meher, who was incredibly patient and accommodating. We loved it so much that we returned for lunch the next day! We'll definitely be back. Shrimp tandoor hit the spot! You don't find shrimp often at Indian restaurants. Butter chicken wasn't decent. I've had better but still good. Naan was fine. Rice was also complimentary! OTHERS Mango lassis was actually good but the mango ice cream tasted like frozen mango purée, sorbet consistency.
