I had been a loyal Gexa Energy customer for years and was enrolled in their EV program, which…read moreprovided credits for charging my vehicle during nighttime hours. Earlier this year, I was involved in a serious accident and my EV was totaled. I unexpectedly had to purchase a replacement EV. With everything involved in recovering from the accident, dealing with insurance and legal matters, and replacing my vehicle, updating the car in the Gexa app was not an immediate priority. When I eventually tried to update it, I discovered something important: the Gexa app does not provide a simple way to remove the old vehicle and pair the replacement. Even the Gexa representative I talked to could not fix the problem and had to escalate it to their IT team. I had also stopped receiving my nighttime EV charging credits, even though the EV information was still showing in the app. Gexa asked me to provide screenshots of my charging history so they could review the missing credits. What disappointed me most happened when it was time to renew my electricity contract. After being offered another plan that did not make financial sense for me, I asked about continuing with my previous EV-related plan. I was told I was no longer eligible because of the issue with the vehicle/app. That was extremely disappointing after years as a customer. I understand that plans and eligibility requirements can change, but I do not think a customer should be penalized for a technical issue when Gexa's own app does not make replacing a vehicle easy and their own representative had to involve IT to resolve it. I wanted to stay with Gexa. Instead, this experience made me decide not to renew. I hope Gexa reviews how it handles EV replacements, app pairing issues, and long-term customers. I called Discount Power on August 13, 2026 to make them aware of issue, and asked them to release me from the contract without an early termination fee. They offered an apology for the occurrence, but declined releasing me from contract and the $250 early termination charge. I refuse to do business with a company that treats its customers with a lack of respect, and abusive conduct. I realize that abusive customer service does not constitute a breach of contract, but an obligatory half-hearted apology falls far short of resolving the issue. If you're really seeking lower energy rate, look at Rhythm Energy and Energy Texas. Rates far less than Discount Power.

They provide a detailed weekly report of your electric usage so you'll have an idea how much your electricity cost will be for the month.  We've also found customer support to be responsive and allowed for a quick and easy move as we had our electricity available as soon as we moved with no issues whatsoever. Overall, Reliant has proved to be a reliable and relatively cheap electricity company with a lot of flexibility within its' plans.

If the bill is incorrect, they send me a new bill. If my current bill is correct, I will have to wait to see if I get a bill, and if I don't , I am to assume I need to pay the bill I have. Center Point does not let me know if the bill I have, the one I think is incorrect, is actually correct. So I'd have to call them, even though they have all my information. I did get a new ERT this year - CenterPoint can read my meter without coming in my yard. I don't know how they read it without picking up my neighbor's meter.

They charged me the minimum usage fee despite the fact that my first cycle was only 6 days. This fee was 30% of my bill and more than I spent on electricity in the 6 days. I called and they refused to waive the fee saying it "wasn't their responsibility that I started mid-cycle". And hey, that's not strictly false, but a little goodwill with your customers can go a long way. Next time I guess I'll opt to pay a slightly higher rate to a company that actually cares about customer relationships.
