Every year we have paid about $700 to have Christmas lights hung up on our roof (two-story home). We have seen some houses around town with Halloween or Thanksgiving-colored lights, and some of our neighbors' houses have had year-round white lights, which I thought was so pretty. So, we thought it would be great to get year-round lights ourselves, so we can celebrate holidays year-round and change the light colors all of the time. We contacted Lighting Distinctions, they gave us a quote, and they were out to install the lights within the week. We are delighted with our new lights, which offer us infinite colors and designs. My husband and I each have the Gemstone app on our respective iPhones, and we can change the colors and light patterns instantly. We can choose a pattern where the lights will blink, chase around the roof line, fade in and out, etc. Or, we can create/design our own patterns and colors from a palate. When the Packers are playing, I put on their team colors to surprise my husband. We wish we had known about Lighting Distinctions six years ago when we installed regular Christmas lights. We became bored with the same lights after two or three years. Now, we have something fresh and new every night. The Lighting Distinctions owner (Joel, a long-time Encinitas businessman) and his entire staff are very responsive and professional. We give them 5 stars!

I wanted to see my short-listed fans up-close and in-person and ask questions and get answers from knowledgeable people, rather than deal with a website chat box. Adam helped me, and he was TERRIFIC. Warm, friendly, so personable, knowledgeable, patient and very easy to talk with and work with. The fan I wanted was on back-order -- not just at Black Whale but pretty much everywhere -- and wouldn't ship for at least a couple of months. The fan is pricey (I view it as an investment) and instead of having to pay in full upfront for a fan that I would not receive for months, Adam was so kind as to allow me to pay 50% upfront, with the balance to be paid when the fan arrived. I really appreciated that. Adam was not there on the day, months later, when I went in to pick up the fan, but the woman who helped me (I think her name was Sandy) was also super-nice and friendly and loaded the boxes into my car for me. I'm excited to have the new fan installed and look forward to another opportunity to work with Black Whale.

After taking a look at Yelp reviews, I reached out to four companies, and Gus with PLL was by far the most professional of the four. He came out, I described the look I was going for - and he proposed a brand of lighting that was made of brass (so wouldn't corrode), with 5k lumens (so, white!) - with a combination of landscape lighting and highlighting. He spent two days removing the old fixtures and replacing them. The results were absolutely stunning, and fairly priced. HIGHLY recommended!
