I don't usually like to do bad reviews but this really took a toll on me. I usually check to see if tools are properly sanitized but this time I didn't. I got a pedicure done and shortly after my nail was hurting but I didn't think much of it. A day goes by and still same pain, more days go by and it keeps getting worse to the point where it hurts to even walk. Always impressed by the work they post on their IG page after following for many years now, I finally paid a visit In Style Nails. I was thrilled to be seated right away without having to wait. I told myself ok... maybe it'll look different after the 2ndcoat. I did not have the heart to tell her I didn't like it but since it was on my toes I can tolerate it. When seated to get my mani she brought the same color w/her (assuming I was going to use it for my mani) that's when I noticed it wasn't the # color I originally chose. When doing my mani I showed her what I wanted to get done on my nails. She said she could do it. Great! About 5 minutes later she said it's going to cost a lot (I don't understand why it would cost a lot) it was just somewhat of a tip with 3 different colors. I got the impression she wasn't up for doing it. So I just went ahead & picked a basic color and called it a day. Here's another kicker... Shame on the owners of this business; who don't allow customers to add gratuity onto the bill. There's no quality assurance here if they get it wrong it's on you, they take no responsibility for the crappy job they do! I don't recommend this place to anyone it's always a hit or miss. If your picky I'd recommend not going here. I went there today for the first Time because my regular place was busy. Someone in a Facebook group recommended it and their Instagram looked nice with lots of beautiful pics. I called and went right on. The shop is large and lots of workers so that's the only good thing. I was greeted with a smile and had Kyle work on my nails. Before he even started I showed him a photo of my nails and how I like them, which is very square. I also showed him a picture that had a heart design and rhinestones and told him I wanted to get that. Everything started off good, however after he put acrylic on the first pinky now I realize that it was a different size than my other pinky. When I compared both my hands it seem that all fingers except my thumb were a little bit shorter. He asked me if I wanted to cut down the other hand and I said no, I asked if he could instead add acrylic. He said that he didn't know how to do that and that he would have to take them off. So I let him remove three nails, which was painful. He asked me if I would want another nail technician to work on my nails and I said no that so far it was so good. I found out that he was new and it only been there for three months. Everything else seem to be going OK, I had him fix a couple things here and there. When he put on the gel polish it really messed up the shape of the nail and polish didn't go to cuticle. I hate this cause it Makes it look like I need a fill.. when I asked again about the rhinestones he told me flat out that he didn't know how to do it. I asked him if somebody else did. Another lady said she would do the rhinestones for me after he painted. She was really nice and she did the rhinestones for me, she even used acetone to clean up the mess of acrylic on my hands. I then went and sat in a chair for a five dollar polish change on my toes. I noticed that the second layer of topcoat that she put on my nails after the rhinestones were starting to bubble. I started to kind of mess with it and then it started to peel.I sat there for the next 20 minutes peeling off the topcoat. Overall thank God there was a $10 coupon online which brought my total to $48. I did not tip, and I'm not happy and I will not go back. I'm going to attach some photos, the last one is what I asked for. ---please note I wrote this when I left the shop! When I got home I realized all my nail beds were filed on sides so much they are all tender. And to top it off my pink nail fell off the next day about 24 hours later! My nails look crappy. This experience is crazy because I think it's one of those situations that you wouldn't think could happen to you. Here's my story, I went with my mom and sister to get out nails done for an upcoming quince. We went in to ask for pricing for my sister and I. We requested a full set, regular polish, and short almond shaped nails. The receptionist said that it would cost $22 each. We agreed with the pricing and proceeded. The nail tech guy did my nails (the younger looking one). Before cutting the length and shaping the nail I asked him if that length was short , he said yeah so he kept going. Later, when he's about to paint the color on my nail I felt like he grabbed the gel polish. I asked if it was gel, he said it was so I told him I wanted regular polish. My nails were done I was happy and ready to pay. I went to tell my mom to get my bag since my nails were fresh. This is where things get UGLY! The receptionist was overcharging us. According to math, our total would have to be $44. I told her that's not the price she gave us. We did not give in to paying more than what we should have. She went on to say that we got medium length and that if we wanted them short, we should've told the nail tech which we did! Annoyingly, the receptionist calls over my nail tech guy. He starts by saying "I told you it's $35 for gel." 1st of all, I specifically didn't want gel. 2nd of all, we had the most minimum conversation when he did my nails. Thirdly, he was flat out lying and making it seem like we were the frauds. Again, refusing to give me the $22 price she ends up saying "if you wanna pay for short almond nails go get them fixed" I said FINE! (Thinking he would just cut the tip and file the nail) I sat down. He says to me "how old are you?" I didn't understand what he asked so he said "Are you 18 and older?" I said "yes, why?" He says " because I thought I was talking to an adult and not 2 kids with their mom. I told you it was $35." I told him, " that's not true because if you did tell me that I would've gone to another place and that's why I asked the receptionist for pricing FIRST!" He was so petty that instead of fixing he went berserk on my nails with the drill. He had no good intentions in fixing but instead destroying. He injured another finger with the drill ( mind you he had made 2 other of my fingers bleed during the full set) He says, "if you want short nails you're not getting almond you're getting square shaped" ( why the fuck does he get to decide when I asked for something specific) I complained about him hurting me. He says, " go, leave I'm not doing your nails anymore!" I said, so you're not going to fix them? Ok i'll leave" I can't believe he had the malicious intent of destroying my nails! I got up and left without paying them a single penny. I know for the fact the employees were talking shit since the complaining started but when we walked out they were yelling in their fucking lingo and giving their customers a show. I can be petty too. If you stuck around for my rant, thank you and I tried being as descriptive as possible. Hopefully, my situation will encourage people not to go there and save that it'll save you the bad experience or here's an example of what to expect when they're pissed off. Every time I come here, the nail techs are always so nice even when there's so many waiting people. I don't have a favorite as my nails always come out straight and neat. I've not had one complaint and the front girl, I always miss her name, tries to always make the wait less tiring. I will say most of the negative reviews happen because of a huge wait, but are always when they're about to close or it's a weekend. I came in for a simple mani pedi. They do not like this. I wanted to give acrylics a little break. I'm not exaggerating when I say the pedi was 10 minutes, she yanked my toes as I held my breath. The manicurist was obviously upset that I didn't want gel. I had a tiny bit of acrylic on my thumb nail, usually they remove it with another nail. She looks at it and tells me, "it's one dollar to remove." I agree and she proceeds to remove it with a grinder and goes hard on my nail bed. My nail began to smoke and I screamed in pain. She laughed! I was so upset but not one to make a scene. After she removed my cuticles she asked "you want color?" Obviously! I had picked it already and it was next to her. It pained her for me to say yes because it wasn't gel. I have spent a lot of money here in the past 3 years but since my tab was $32 I was treated like crap and burned. I will NEVER be back. Please don't come here. The worst part was the unsanitary removal of the water filter tab, this is supposed to be removed and cleaned after each service. The lady who did my gel mani cut too much of my cuticle then snipped the side of my fingernails making them tapered when they are already square shape..all you have to do is file.
