I came in today for a 30 min massage and once I arrived the host let me know they were booked for the next hour and asked if I can come back. I was in no pressure and ran some errands before. I came back an hour later and didn't realize they have a lot of parking in the back. So when returned I parked in the back and they have a back entrance. Once I was inside I checked in and the person in the front let me know I had to pay upfront. I changed my mind and wanted to do 45 min but the didn't have the time for it so I stayed with my 30 min session. The person in the front charged me and walked me to my room and I went to lay in the bed it was peaceful and quiet. Once my masseuse came in she saw me scratching my shoulders and said "oh, got it working on your shoulders". She went to work let me tell you! I felt I needed a bit more work on my legs but no complains my back, shoulders, arms and sides got the best massage ever. I only came here because it's close by and a friend recommended it. My first time at In Step Massage and unfortunately it was not a good experience. The environment was extremely loud and not relaxing at all. I could hear people constantly coming in and out, employees talking loudly in the hallway, and even a man next to me moaning very loudly during their session. It made the whole experience uncomfortable and the opposite of what you expect when getting a massage. The massage itself also wasn't great. I repeatedly asked the therapist to use less pressure, but she continued pressing extremely hard despite my requests. At the end I left a $5 tip because I felt the service was mediocre. After I had already left and was sitting in my car, the front desk employee actually came outside and asked me for a bigger tip. That made the situation even more uncomfortable and felt very unprofessional. Overall the environment, the service, and the way the tip situation was handled left a bad impression. She just began out of nowhere. Throughout the session, the pressure was also inconsistent---at times it was painfully strong, while other moments felt more like light caressing than an actual massage. Came here for the first time per recommendation. I got the 45 minute massage appointment at 9pm, but as I'm writing this it's 9:40 so that doesn't seem right. Unfortunately I will not be a returning customer. For one, it was very painful. I came for an appointment after a long day with a lot of tension in my neck and a migraine, hoping to get some relaxation. For the entire time, I could not relax because this woman was just stabbing me with her elbow. It did not feel good at all. I let her know that it was painful and she still did the same thing. She was talking to the other staff. It seemed like she was inexperienced and rushing from what I gathered. At the end, I honestly didn't want to tip because it genuinely was a really bad massage. However, I felt bad and gave her a few dollars (not knowing that they RECOMMEND $10). As I handed her the tip she speaks to the other woman in a different language. I go to leave out the door and the door is LOCKED... The other woman tells me, "do you want to give her more?" And points to the sign--IM UNCOMFORTABLE AND CANT LEAVE. I went to Insta tonight and got the two hour body massage. It was pretty good, but there are some improvements that they need to make. You walk in and automatically there's a sign that says quiet, and they shit you if you aren't quiet. Now throughout my massage there was lots of noise Between the street traffic which you can't avoid, the people coming in and out of the massage place, and then you have the guest talking very loudly as well as the massage. Therapist being very loudly talking to themselves and moving things around. My massage therapist did shush somebody once, but that didn't make a difference. She did pretty good on the massage, but she did leave for quite a bit of time and said she was getting towels. I would give it a 70% out of 100 as there are things that they need to change. You can't control if someone is louder than you'd like with occasional talking -- if you can afford an in-home masseuse, then you can control the noises (smile). I am more of a regular customer now that I budget for a monthly massage to treat myself. Like with most things, my mom referred me here years ago and she is still a long-time customer. I recommend the 60 or 90-minute foot massage (it's all over, from scalp to toes and of course you are always covered). Nothing where you bathing suit covers. Starts with feet in warm water while you are lying down on your back and then flip to your stomach. I have her focus on my right shoulder (extra pressure) and then medium pressure on my back, as my back is sensitive like that. Michelle is who I've had for quite a few times and does an awesome job.
