I'm extremely disappointed with Sunny Soaking Spa. My friend purchased a gift voucher here just two weeks ago, and when I tried to redeem it, they flat out refused to honor it, claiming they had changed ownership a month ago. That makes zero sense. If you knew you were switching owners, why were you still selling gift vouchers that you had no intention of honoring? This feels dishonest, if not outright fraudulent. It's not the customer's job to navigate internal ownership changes especially when you're still operating under the same name. Unless you plan on paying in cash and walking out the same day, I wouldn't risk spending a single dollar here. Do NOT buy gift vouchers they will not be accepted, and you'll be out of money with no accountability from this place. To make it worse, there's a sign posted inside saying there's a mandatory tip of $10-$15. Avoid this business until they take responsibility for customer trust and basic integrity. read more

I called to see if i was able to get a massage since im 17, the lady said yes. I get here and first of all she said it was $15, then charged $40. i was like whatever. The massage itself was terrible and felt like the guy was just on a mission to break peoples bones. Keep in mind the lady at the start was already sketchy and the vibe felt odd. I was leaving and the lady proceeds to say i can't leave because i still owe $38 from a tip. i never gave a tip and she just made up a receipt saying i owed her money. i proceeded to say i wasn't gonna pay it. She then she uses an app to translate and basically said me and my friend stole $100 from her. she threatened to call the cops and told us to wait. she never made a call to the cops she was just pretending to, she was just overall taking advantage of my age. I proceeded to call the cops myself because she wasn't letting me go. when she realized the cops were on the line she said we were free to go. Then later sends me message saying she was sorry and that she found the $100. which is obviously such a lie. trying to get money out of a 17 year old and just overall take advantage is crazy. I dont recommend this place and i hope it gets shut down. read more

Found out Tony is not the owner anymore from Heavenly Soaking Foot Massage. I had been going there for 10 years before COVID shut them down. Followed him here to Sunny Soaking and the business atmosphere was still great under his ownership. Then months go by and it starts going down hill. HS use to have the same set of people that you can alternate from to find your right pick. The new Sunny Soaking (under new management) has new staff every 2 months. Nobody ever speaks enough English to know what "calves" are or if you want "soft", "hard", "stop", "lower", etc. I miss Tony double checking if the masseuse were great or not. Miss that he cared about his business, customer service, and going above and beyond. I mean that's how he was able to expand prior to COVID-customer service was too notch and he never discriminated on fat or black or Mexican. I used to drive 35 mins just to go to his spot and I'm sad to see it not doing as well and miss Tony's friendly, smiling face. Last thing I miss is the emphasis on washing hands and properly using gloves and hand San. Doesn't seem enforced now. There's no pride in cleanliness. read more

I took a recommendation from a friend after complaining about a super tight back after a massive and vicious back workout. I will be buying this friend lunch. If there is a better way to spend $40 than a one hour full body massage from Tony, I haven't found it. Tony provided everything I could've hoped for and more. He really focused on my problem areas and even some that I didn't know were a problem. I couldn't have asked for more from an hour massage. Took my clothes off and got under the sheet and Tony went to town. His technique was impeccable and his bedside manner was sublime. After a good dry massage, Tony then added warm oil and proceeded to loosen up my back. After that came the hot towels followed by some more hand work. I will absolutely be returning. I have been getting massages for years at other Chinese massage places and decided to try a new place out. So I found this place on Yelp! I chose the Special Package combo massage from the menu. The masseuse does every part EXCEPT the front of my body. No chest, no stomach section, no front of the legs! This is unacceptable for a "FULL BODY" massage. She spent 80% of the massage on my back. She was almost gonna continue on my back until I asked her if she's also gonna do the rest of my body because it seemed like my back was the only thing she cared about. If I hadn't asked her she would've probably never moved anywhere else, let alone the front of my body. I was not going to tip because she skipped my FAVORITE body parts to be massaged: chest area and thighs. So obviously I was very unhappy. But lady at the front kept saying that no more, they don't do front. I don't understand what kind of Chinese massage place doesn't do front of body for a full body massage. The front of body is not sexual or inappropriate area for massage especially since private area is covered. I left $10 tip so she can stop complaining. I simply won't come here anymore since they don't provide the traditional full body Chinese massage that I've gotten at other Asian massage places that includes upper body and thighs. read more

This place is convenient and the prices are great. However, I have to be honest and say I won't be coming back. While the massage feels great, when I went to pay, and asked them to put a $5 tip, I was told that the minimum tip is $10. The lady argued with me and insisted that it should be $10 vs the $5 I was offering. I've tipped $5 cash before and tip $10 every once in a while, but to be told and have it pushed on me felt off. This review is reflective of visit 6/1/23. Below average massage I'm afraid. There are no personal rooms and they require a 20% tip regardless of your service. I paid $50 for full body 1 hour plus 3% credit card fee. Total $63. Not worth it! The area they put you in is tight and closed off by curtains only. The individual who worked on me was very inexperienced and inconsistent. I asked for Swedish massage and he did deep tissue so it was painful. I had to tell him 4 times. The receptionist/owner apologized so that's why I'm giving them 2 stars. I will never return. :( read more

My BF & I went to this place for the first time with severe shoulder & mid back pain. My BF got the lady & I got the guy, it was weird at first because I thought why not switch, especially because my bf is a little bulkier, & more ideal for a guy masseuse with his body built, but boy, both our masseuse did the job right! My masseuse was very professional, I am a petite 5 foot Asian, his bed side manners are great & he's on point with the pressure/ trigger points. I felt relieved the moment he started because he got on the right spot right away. My bf, on the other hand, had the same great experience as well. He said that the lady did the right pressure (hard but not to the point that he will scream in pain, & still got the knots). We did the oil massage for $40 each, $45 if you'll pay with card. We were gonna pay with card but I guess they were having problems with their card machine bcos the card is not going through (might be the connection). We had to get cash on the ATM (wells fargo) a few step from the place. The lady in the front doesn't talk a lot of english which we don't mind at all. They also do not accept AmEx. After the relaxing & great massage they will ask you if you want water or hot tea. This is a place where we will be back for sure!!! read more

After finding out I fractured ribs the week before, I was in need of a good foot and body massage. It was Sunday mid afternoon and I checked in for 60 minutes foot and body massage. I advised the lady who I suspect was the owner at the counter I had an injury and she advised me they would work on my shoulders, feet and neck. My female masseuse was super and started with my temples, neck, shoulders and then my feet and legs . She ended up working on my upper back, and finished with my neck & shoulders. The masseuse didn't have me lay on my stomach due to my injury but had me in a sitting position and leaning forward which worked out great. I felt so relaxed and refreshed after my massage and tipped accordingly for the solid massage and working around my injury. And the people working there now on a daily basis do not have any training or skills in massage. Rough, way too hard, and the guy at least does not understand any English at all. The gentleman who answered the phone was extremely nice and they were able To accommodate a massage for my pregnancy. The gentleman who did my massage was excellent! I got the 30 minute neck and shoulder and 30 minute foot massage. I have come here twice, both times with an appointment, and both times I get turned away for being 5 minutes late. The door says they are open until 11pm, my appointments were at 9:30pm. So, I don't understand the problem. If the business and employees choose to not wait and lock up, that's their prerogative. Mine is to leave a bad review and never try to come here again. This really breaks my heart to write this review! This has been a safe haven for me for over 15 years and has always done excellent work in caring for its clients. I began to notice a decline in customer service, the last 2 years. I mean sometimes things slip when you get overwhelmed and businesses grow very quickly, so I figured they would catch up. My experience with them last night was the last straw! I will not be bullied into paying for a service I did not receive. It was unexceptionable & the more I made any suggestions or complaints asking for someone else, the worse it was. She could not understand what I was asking her and tony the owner could give a rats ass anymore. He's got his Bentley!! Tony always asks me how the new ones do, so I can give feed back, but this time, he was only interested in swiping my card! I said I received a $20 massage and I asked for a $30 massage to really work my feet (since my feet have always been an issue for me) I told him she didn't work my feet and I asked for someone else and she just kept massaging me, even when I sat up. Lol! Now in all fairness she was great as far as ANY other area BUT THE FEET! Which is what I wanted her to focus on! Instead of making it right, offing me 40 mins of just feet, he said oh ok, how much tip? Seriously? I'm out! He didn't even tell her, so she could learn correctly, he wasn't even interested in listening to me. I found an amazing place in la Mirada, it's small and comfy, just like HS used to be, before the $$$$$ and the lack of customer service and care! Shame on you! I had the same problem Daniel H. did and that was I called in advanced to book an appointment and was told to come in at 5pm. When I arrived at 5pm I spoke to the same man who answered the phone and he seemed puzzled and asked me that I did not have an appointment. I confirmed the phone number with him that was the phone number to the buisness and he still seemed confused and unapologetic. I'm not sure if there was a language barrier but I just told him I was going to leave and not come back. It doesn't seem like he really cared about my buisness. I wouldn't recommend coming here unless you like to take your chances with having your reservation canceled without notice. Customer services is incredibly poor. read more
