I've been coming here since 5yrs old, before the renovation and drive throughs and fancy decorum. This place is home. Please don't pay attention to these bs bad reviews. The food here is great. they even try to ad more items to the menu to accommodate for new clientele. The longest I've ever waited for a table is ten minutes. The staff has always been kind to me. The owner is not around as much but her family is extremely personable. The current manager has been working there since I've been a child. He's always interacting with the regulars. I recommend: The bruschetta salmon -it's not on the menu Or the stir fry veggies and salmon Appetizers: I recommend Guac and chips (If you don't feel like being so healthy) Chicken fingers Mozzarella sticks I don't recommend: The calamari - it's horrible lol - but also it's a dinner TF you expect. Greatest thing about this diner is the hours. It used to be 24 hours straight but now you can still grab a good meal around 1am. It's one of my favorites places to be. We were looking for a late lite dinner and the imperial diner came up on my Yelp app as a convenient spot. We ordered breakfast items, Belgium waffle for me and my husband got two eggs scrambled with potatoes and toast. All fresh and delicious! The prices of this Diner for its location are a little bit steep. Food quality was okay. Waiter service was excellent. Very easy to park in the back of the diner. Although the prices appear to be slightly higher than most other diners we will return because the service was very good. I remember my mom talking about the challah French toast here and it rlly was all the rage. It is super thick, one slice was 4 slices of Bread thick no lie. So I was only able to eat one but I'm not complaining, it was delicious. The outside was perfectly crunchy and the inside was fluffy and just enough chewy. I've been coming here for years growing up with my family and friends. I highly recommend dining here. My favorite items are the veggie panini, chocolate chip pancakes and their amazing cheesecake! I most recently went on Christmas eve and the diner felt homey with the holiday decorations and the staff were extremely friendly as usual. I ordered the strawberry cheesecake and my bf got the vanilla milkshake which he loves. I hope you give it a try and like this place as much as I do. read more

There's nothing remotely Star Wars about this place, but that's the first thought that fell out of my brain, so bear with me. Probably one of my favorite stops in the galaxy. I didn't see many off-duty stormtroopers because they were out looking for rebel scum. I was hoping to grab a bite along the commute from Long Beach back to the hotel near Woodbury, so I let the trusty Yelp Search work out the dinner destination. It was also a good excuse to let the notorious LIE traffic ease up too. It was worse than an asteroid field. Oh, Imperial Diner is on the radar? Perhaps they have the food I am looking for. Parking around the city in general can be a headache for some places. Fortunately, Imperial Diner has a free parking lot, so you don't have to waste time circling around the block hoping that your hyperdrive doesn't break down. Hungry was I, so dinner consisted of: Greek salad, spanakopita, chicken parmesan, and a side of spaghetti. I know it's odd, but I have an affinity for the spinach pie. Some people go for chicken or gyro, but I'm a spanakopita guy. Fun to say and neat to eat (remember to check between the teeth afterwards). The diner provided a nice, fresh portion. I'm used to getting a tiny square, with the phyllo and spinach sadly dried out. The chicken parm was delicious too. Nicely breaded cutlet, with a fair amount of red sauce and baked-on cheesiness. This would make for a quality sandwich too. Service was very good. The waitress was friendly and patient as I mulled over menu selections and helped me with suggestions. Drinks were refilled and plates promptly cleared. She sensed a disturbance in the Force like a Jedi Master and brought the to-go box for leftovers before I asked. If this older security code checks out and I'm granted access to the Empire State again, I just may return to the Imperial Diner. read more

A few years ago one of my clients introduced me to this restaurant, and I must say this is my favorite Diner. The service, the food selection, the decor and the food. Even the patrons are nice. I came here with my daughter (her first visit) and she was satisfied with the service and her banana pancakes. Our waitress Rebecca has a smile that would make you smile back. She was very pleasant and helped us with our food selections: my daughter, the banana pancakes and the delicious salmon burger for myself. We came in on a week day and it was very crowded, we had to park on the street and wait approximately 20 minutes. I recommend that you avoide Sunday mornings at all costs or carry a bag of patience because they are extremely busy on Sundays. read more

Food is prepared well and flavorful, essentially not your normal diner fair, coming from someone who hates diner's in general. As we have experienced after COVID everything has gotten expensive. Uber eats date: March 21, 2018 I don't like to be home and I was off work for two weeks trying to help my sister the best I could while also handling my toddler. So when the nor'Easter was delayed I packed up my car as fast as I could to sleep over my sister's with my son and drove on out to Baldwin. When I got there I ordered my food from uber eats because I wasn't sure how bad the snow was going to get and wanted to have some extra food for my son and myself besides what I packed especially because I stick to a healthier eating plan and didn't want to be stuck without good food choices. I ordered a veggie omelette with cheese and I think I got fries on the side and also pancakes for my son. I also ordered some cantaloupe. When the food was delivered they basically gave me a chunk of cantaloupe to cut up myself. Thanks guys I'm ordering because I kind of want my cantaloupe cut up for me. The omelette was okay not a great omelette but not terrible either. My son seemed to enjoy what he ate of the pancakes. Overall this diner is decent, wouldn't hate on it but wouldn't love it either. Also Freeport is generally known as not a decent neighborhood so for me I'll order from here but probably not dine in the actual diner. read more

My boyfriend and I went this past weekend and our server was MIA the whole time - when we did see her she forgot we had spoken. I had to ask for condiments and drinks multiple times and they still didn't come, 20 minutes later. She seemed annoyed when I asked again. I had breakfast at this diner with a friend after an hour of hot Yoga and I was starving. The diner was a lot bigger than it looked from the outside. I loved the fact that they had a nice sized parking lot in the back of the restaurant. The staff were friendly and the service was good. I ordered the jumbo challah french toast with a side of eggs and cheese. The challah bread was good but was too thick for me and I prefer the regular bread french toast style. I really didn't like how most diners just throw two slices of cheese on the eggs. I have to remember to ask fir the cheese shredded in the eggs if possible. Overall I had a great experience at this diner and would definitely return. Next time I would request to sit at the booth with the mini jukeboxes so I can jam to some music while I enjoy my food. read more

I went to the Imperial Diner on a Friday night around 10. The atmosphere is really nice. I love the set up of the diner. We greeted as soon as we walked in. My friend dines there often. The food was great! Everyone enjoyed the food they ordered. I always order grilled cheese and French fries at the diner. I loved how my order was garnished. I also got the Strawberry Cheesecake to go and it was absolutely delicious! What I also found interesting at the diner was that they have a full bar! My fiance got the Long island iced tea and I got the rum punch. We both enjoyed our drinks! I will definitely come back here again. read more

After my grandson's baseball game in Oceanside we decided to go to a diner and was very pleased we chose Imperial. We remember we had eaten there many years ago and we liked it then. This time, we really enjoyed our food, I had a delicious hamburger, asked for fries well done and came the way I wanted them, husband had a Phlllycheese steak sandwich and said it was very good,, big portion brought half home. Grandchildren were happy with their meals, only thing is no dessert is included and usually at least they get a cookie. If in the area I would go back. As my family and I walked into the diner, we were greeted with a warm welcome. The diner was packed, it appeared everyone from miles away choose to eat there, the last Saturday morning of 2019. While waiting, we saw some regular customers enter and were warmly greeted with smile and hugs. After several minutes a friendly host seated us and wished us Happy New Year. Our primo took our order with courtesy. My eggs, hashbrowns and whole wheat toast were delicious, tasted as though everything was made with love. Im confused about the mixed reviews. People either love this place or hate it. I have been here 3 times and never had an issue with the service or the food. Their breakfast seems to be there specialty but I just had their goulash with noodles. It came with a salad or bowl of soup for $19. The meat was tender and the gravy was perfect. The service was great and the decor is like many Greek diner is dated but the place was clean. I will absolutely be back here. read more

Although we live in East Meadow where there are quite a few diners, we travel to the Imperial because their food is so good. Faves include carne asada (a special; to die for), cheeseburgers, greek gyro platter and chicken caesar salad. Their cheesecake is an individual small round portion and fabulous, don't miss that if you're a fan. We like the snazzy funky decor too, and the booths are roomy. Downsides include the fact that they don't give free soft drink refills and parking can be tight. Also we've had a cranky middle aged female waitress (try to avoid) a few times, but otherwise service is friendly. Note that the Imperial is only open til midnight now, so don't go in the middle of the night cuz door will be closed. read more

The food is good, came out fast. However the pricing is a bit ridiculous. 2 people for breakfast; both of which got pancakes, $60. I can think of 10 diners where this meal would have been half that price easily. They also charge you per coffee and don't tell you until you pay and see you were charged for 4 coffees and realized that their aren't refills. Every diner I've been to tops them off while you eat. Not here. So, if you want good food and don't have any other options and don't mind over paying then I'd recommend this diner. read more

First time going there. I will say the place has a nice vibe to it. Looks very appealing inside. Our waiter Mathew was amazing! Very attentive, polite and accurate. He checked in on us the whole time. Food on the other hand was just okay. We had the appetizer platter ( Mozzarella Sticks, Chicken Wings n Chicken Fingers. 3 of each ) that was the most flavorful dish. My older son had the chicken parm sandwich and it had no taste. My younger son had the Chicken BLT and the same thing, no flavor besides the bacon. He did love the service tho. I had the Philly cheesesteak hero and it was so bland. I had to add Salt and Blk pepper which made it much better. The portions were nice and big. We all had leftovers, the presentation of the dishes were nice too! What a poor experience we had today at Imperial. It was the usual pretty busy but we were seated after just a few minutes. But they put us way in the back and maybe that's what led to many of the missteps. Food took a long time to come. Servers seemed confused and more distracted than usual. Fries were cold and limp. Food as usual was just average at best. Soft drink refills are no longer free. Pay $2.75 each time you suck down a watery soda. No longer thanks Not sure we will be back. read more

I think the service needs work. Waiter took about 10 minutes to come after I had to get the busboy to find us a waiter. With every meal something like onion rings or chips come with the meal but they don't tell you that 3 singular chips come with a large amount of guacamole. Or the onion rings come with two singular onion rings this place needs some changes. read more
