Impressive restaurant, but when paying this amount of money I'm looking for a great overall experience. The positives were the salmon tartare, the moussaka cigar (smoked eggplant, ground lamb, pine nuts wrapped in phyllo with goat manchego cheese cream), the suckling pig, seared foie gras, truffle tagliolini, and lamb terrine were all fabulous. Our server was nothing short of outstanding, a rare combination of polish and warmth. Unlike our server, the dining room lacked warmth. Rather cavernous and more a display of some designer's fantasy gone wild (subjective- some might be wowed but I favor more intimacy). It made for a rather noisy atmosphere. Also, there was a pretentious feel to the place that is wholly different than what I've experienced at Seven Reasons. If our food had been as inconsistent as some here have reported, I would have been sorely disappointed, but the food, and we chose a la carte, was exceptional. It better be for the price, which I found too high for what we got. read more

I have to start this review with my heavy bias that I love 7 Reasons, it is probably my favorite restaurant in DC and we eat there several times a year. I have since eaten at Imperfecto twice and it has only been ok both times. It is overall a fancier more formal resturant than 7 reasons, true white table cloth vibe. The interior is very pretty, with tasteful thought out architecture. Their cocktails are good, however nothing particularly creative. The food is high quality, and good overall however it is simply not as creative as 7 reasons and much more expensive. Both times I have been happy with my meal, but it has not been anything to write home about, and given the price this is somewhat disappointing. read more

The worst Michelin restaurant I've ever had. We ordered chef tasting menu. The stater is good but too salty. The salmon is not good, they used many spice powder but still taste too fishy. They used uni and black truffle as base sauce of the it but it taste not fresh at all. The service is bad. ESPECIALLY, the manager that I met. He treat us in a very different way than the white women next to us. He did offer us a drink to apologize but I don't think he mean However, some of the server they are good people. I don't think they deserve this price and the Michelin star. read more

No stars for this restaurant. Worst dining experience ever. We were seated almost an hour after our reservation in a private room since they couldn't accommodate us in the restaurant. The owner came in to apologize and from there it was all downhill. We weren't offered drinks, menus were dropped on the table and then ripped from our hands before we could even ask questions and the wait person who took our order was surly and rude. When we were finally offered a wine list we were informed there wasn't a sommelier. Wine was served willy nilly, with no regard for who wanted some and who didn't, cocktails showed up after appetizers. Similarly the entrees arrived -- over an hour after the order was taken - in a haphazard manner, a travesty for a Michelin starred restaurant. Most of the food was cold but by this time we were too hungry to care. Who gave them this star???? Although we tried to take much of this in stride, the attitude of the server was inappropriately snotty and downright nasty. She insulted several of our guests, insinuating that the bad service was OUR fault. Regardless of how delicious the food might have been, the experience was horrid. Imperfecto? Definitely IMPERFECT. read more

Food was okay and the time between meals was very long. The worst part was that they charge you for still and sparkling water (when tap water is available and free!!!). To make it even worse, they offer you complimentary chocolate and then coffee. But no, they charge you for each cup of coffee without notice. Only when you see the final bill with an extra 30 bucks for water and coffee. Bad service that was being justified by the manager. Not worth it, there are better restaurants in DC with and without Michelin stars. read more

The food was good, but the service was just unacceptable, especially at this price point. We waited for our table for 35 minutes past our reservation time, and nobody could have cared less. When we went back up to inquire after waiting for 20 minutes - we had been standing 3 feet from the hostess stand the whole time - the person at the hostess stand asked us who we were and whether we had a reservation. Not a single member of their staff so much as apologized to us for the wait at any point. read more

Had dinner tonight with 3 girlfriends. Everything still had was exquisite. Truly amazing and just as good if mot berthed than their sister restaurant Seven Reasons. We did have to wait about 30 min for out table but the staff was incredible and very accommodating. Props to the amazing bartenders and Enrique, the chef. read more

We really wanted to love Imperfecto - it's two blocks from our house, we love seven reasons, and the aesthetic here is amazing. The specialty gin and tonic, the tuna tartare, and the foie gras were all amazing - everything else was supremely subpar. On top of that, we waited 20 minutes after we sat down to get water, another 15 to have drink orders taken, and another 20 to have our main order taken. The wait staff was really nice, but it was incredibly slow and the food was absolutely not worth the price. Skip this meal and go to seven reasons instead. read more

Service = 5/5 - super excellent! Ambience = 5/5 Food = 2.5/5 The only thing I didn't like at this restaurant was the food! Something about the flavor pairings didn't quite fit together (in my opinion). 1) Mushroom soup = nice touch, but the salt flavor was a bit strong; 2) foie gras = tasted a bit odd with the pineapple/sweet/jam sauce between the bread--a more savory sauce might have worked better?; 3) pork entree = tasted like hard ham, sauce didn't elevate dish either; 4) branzino = fish was great! the celery root puree not so much; 5) ricotta brulee = light, but the glaze on top was a bit too heavy, like candy. My advice to the restaurant is to review the menu and the flavor profiles. The goal needs to be to get people to return. The service and the space was phenomenal, but DC has a lot of good restaurants that aren't as pricey with way better food who residents will go back to. I can't say I'll go back to Imperfecto unless they re-do the menu. read more

Beautiful setting, amazing service and off the charts delicious food at this new restaurant in the West End. Such a treat to finally go out and dress up after 14 months of COVID! I would highly recommend it :) read more

This restaurant exceeded all my expectations. The service was incredible and honestly, their choice of music also hit the spot. On top of all that, the food was unforgettable. read more

Great restaurant great food I had the Egyptian kfc and the rib eye steak. Pinot noir and mastika and everything was delicious. I'll come again for sure. The restaurant is beautiful and the design is very welcoming read more

Nothing against Imperfecto in DC, but the visiting Chef from Miami by the name of Bachour just served the most overpriced ($400) and mediocre brunch that I have ever seen. Might as well go to IHOP and get better food. His fame as a pastry chef preceded Mr Bachour, but his overcooked eggs, underwhelming salads and overall lack of inventiveness leaves one with a feeling of having been cheated. Perhaps he had no interest in making any effort because he does not live in DC and doesn't care. He didn't even have the courtesy of coming by the tables to say hi to the patrons. Chef Limardo from Imperfecto can only hurt his good name by having this type of an event in his fine restaurant. read more

I'm not sure how or why they were given a Michelin Star, but our experience was far short of that, having tried a handful of other Michelin Star restaurants. We decided, as a group of 6, to share everything by having each person order a few different things, so we can try most of the things on the menu. I can honestly say that 80% of everything that came out, accompanied by a lot of hype from our waiter, was mediocre at best. I now know by heart that the chef is of Venezuelan decent, but has according to our waiter, he has worked around the world including but not limited to Dubai, Lebanon, Abu Dhabi, London (drum roll for the prestigious name-drop-flex please). The manager, supremely unprofessional, who routinely went around to ask how everyone was doing, but yet when you told him it's been more than 25 minutes and we still don't have our drinks yet, asked for our opinion of the food at the end. I decided to be honest (and as polite as I possibly can) and say "didn't meet my expectations to be honest." He seems shocked, repeated the chef's experience around the world again, politely implying that I'm an idiot for not liking the food, served at wrong temperatures. He also mentioned that the Michelin Star is only for the chef's prefix menu, not a la carte. He invited all of us to come back and try the chef's prefix menu to experience the heavenly food by the best chef etc. etc. etc. I was dumb enough to do that with an employee of mine. The food was mediocre again, at best. Bad food, combined with bad service, and an uppity attitude... No thanks... read more

I wish I can give NO stars. My friends and I tried their chef's tasting menu, so sad that non is good （Just the day before, we tried the Seven Reasons, please！Don't even compare these two!). The server/manager asked us couple times how's everything, we said ok just to be polite. But I believe our facial emotion was totally NOT okay! We were even thinking to cancel our order after the 3rd course (yes, that's how bad it was) Also, one of their courses was OVERLY salted that my friend only had it a few bites. We told the server, he took it away and apologized if we want something else instead. We said no and thought (normally) they will do something at the end on the bill. Unfortunately, not only no discount but also pointed out on our bill that they will be appreciated if we can tip them before the deposit we paid, not the price after the deposit applied. I was shocking, didn't know what to say anymore. On the way back home, my friends and I were silent and extremely unhappy about our experience at the restaurant and wrote this review. Just like the restaurant's name, "Imperfect" is the best word to describe their food. DO NOT go to this place, what a waste of money! read more

I'll begin with the positive: the food. The foie and moussaka cigar appetizers were lovely. All of the entrees our table ordered tasted great and were presented nicely. The onion carbonara with the steak was a creative twist full of flavor. The chicken was cooked perfectly, and the sunchokes under the dorade were flavorful and a nice addition to the dish. Things went wrong, REALLY wrong, with service which ruined our entire experience. I'll preface all of this with stating that my party is more than aware of the challenges currently facing the restaurant industry and were more than willing and prepared to be patient. We had a reservation and were promptly seated with drink menus. We weren't presented with dinner menus for another 15 minutes or so. Our cocktails took about 15 minutes to arrive (again, not a big deal, we were prepared to be patient), but upon their arrival two of the four cocktails were promptly spilled down my back by the person bringing them to us. Fortunately for me, the two that spilled were the clear vodka cocktails. Unfortunately for me, the staff was only concerned with cleaning the floor and the minor splashes on the table behind me. They didn't acknowledge what happened nor did they attempt to help clean me up. We used the four napkins already at the table to help dry me off but were provided none from staff. We had to ask for more napkins when our food stated arriving. The wine service was, I'll say, unusual. We ordered a bottle of wine. The bottle arrived to our table already open. I've never experienced this in ANY establishment, let alone a higher-end restaurant. The bottle always gets opened at the table. When we asked the sommelier why the bottle arrived already opened, he stated "that's how it's done at fine dining establishments in case the cork is breaks so it doesn't get in the wine." He then brought over a very brittle cork that he easily in half in front of us then proceeded to pour the $175 bottle of wine. If the cork does that, the wine should not be served. The real kicker here was at the end of the meal when we received our $900 bill (which included four starters, four entrees, four cocktails, and two bottles of wine, and a COVID service charge), and not a single thing was comp'd. Nothing. Not the drinks spilled on me. Not the bottle of wine. Nothing. After the service and experience we had for the money we were paying, even a small gesture would have been appropriate, but the restaurant chose not to provide any form of customer service. After someone in our party went to talk to the executive chef after the general manager wasn't much help, our cocktails were comp'd and we were told we'd be taken care of "next time." There won't be a next time. This was hands down one of the worst higher-end dining experiences I've had. I most certainly won't be going back, nor will I be dining at the sister restaurant 7 Reasons. read more

We visited Imperfecto in July. The food was good but portion sizes were TINY while prices were VERY expensive. For 4 adults and 2 young kids, we spent more than $600. There was a surprise service fee on the bill for $25. When i asked the server what it was, he was like - "this is for my backwages from last year". Wasn't unemployment insurance supposed to pay for that ? I will not go there again. It's not cool to serve tiny portions and charge hidden fees. Oh and they pay kickbacks to nearby hotels that send guests here. read more

Until Imperfecto figures things out, they need to either cut their prices 50% or go on hiatus. The front room was so loud the host couldn't hear my name and for ten minutes claimed we didn't have a reservation, even after we showed the confirmation email. The first course arrived overcooked, the second arrived (to quote the manager) raw, and the third arrived 40 minutes later. Even cooked appropriately, none of them would have been very good -- they were all bland, salty, and so, so overpriced. The manager admitted they knew about all these issues and comped our entire meal... but not the reservation fee. It is hard to have patience and understanding at this price point, especially when the restaurant knows about the issues. Go to 7 Reasons or Mercy Me instead. read more

Burrata was so flavorful and savory. Easy to share as an app as well. 10/10 recommend.

Outstanding location, food, and service. Highly recommended for dinner. Would come here again without question.

The food is very good, though a bit too expensive. My rating is only four stars since they have an annoying charge for workers, including waiters. They claim other restaurants are doing this, although a first for me. Given the high prices, they should be able to pay staff a decent wage. And for waiters who receive large tips on $500 plus dinners, why the extra charge? read more

Our entire experience at Imperfecto was spectacular. My girlfriend and I did the tasting menu which came with a complimentary mushroom soup, three savory courses, a foie gras supplement (additional $), sorbet palate cleanser, and churro dessert. We also got homemade chocolate bars to take home as well. We ordered the wine tasting menu and were both really happy at the quality and level of description that was given to us before each pour. Both the food and service was fantastic. I highly recommend and will definitely be going back! read more

This food was extremely mediocre. I felt rushed and by the end I felt robbed when having to pay DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. I do not know how they have a Michelin star read more

Outstanding food! Definitely worth their Michelin star. Had a great experience there and truly had a meal to remember. I will be back!

So excited for a New Years celebration at Imperfecto....but, food not nearly as interesting or fabulous as Seven Reasons. Service was great until New Years countdown when bartender toasted crew / staff at bar at midnight. When he got to our group, he saw our drinks empty and said, 'you have no drinks to toast' and moved on...without offering to fill them. So not cool after we spent over $500 PER PERSON in our group on dinner drinks. Not ever going again. Good luck Imperfecto fits! read more

Very average food and drinks . We made reservations a month ahead of time and they actually charge some money for it . It was our anniversary so my husband picked this place thinking it will be romantic. They seated us on chef's table with people on either side .It was so loud . The guy taking the orders sounded very condescending instead of helpful. With all the million choices in the area, I don't think we're going back . read more

I did the chef's table experience with the wine pairing package. The service was impeccable. I was incredibly disappointed by the food. Most dishes were basically ceviche/raw fish meals. Don't get me wrong, it was delicious. Just got tired of course after course being some type of raw or ceviche dish. I also think the night I went, it seemed like the chef was making stuff up to serve us without it being pre planned. I will say, there was a lot of bubbly being served and I love bubbles. I love bubbles so much, that I got a little drunk without meaning to. I think I also spilled a glass. I felt horrible about that. Sorry, imperfecto. However, my partner doesn't like bubbles as much, so for him it was disappointing that almost every wine pairing was a sparkling of some sort. I would go again for the experience and service. I wouldn't do the chef's table experience again though. Also, they had us seating right at the front of the restaurant and I didn't like that, it made me feel like I was on display for the rest of the restaurant guests to see. For the chef's table I would've preferred something more intimate. read more

Good but not great new-ish place on the West End. I can't really say anything was bad, but somehow it missed the mark for me. Some things were a little too precious, like the "small treat from the chef," and others were just peculiar, like the giant fish-shaped glass one of our cocktails came in. The dining room felt cold, like an overdecorated bank lobby or a staged home that's being flipped in upper Northwest. It's like it's trying to be a fancy DC restaurant from 10 years ago, but priced at the high end of 2019. Be aware that they add a surcharge, called a "fair wage fee." read more

The food here lives up to its name: imperfect... both the starter and main entree are too salty, I am not sure if that's how the dishes are supposed to taste or the chef happen to put too much salt today... but the taste is not acceptable for me and my husband.... Not coming back again, doesn't worth the price. Will still go to seven reasons but not this one anymore read more

The menu is varied offering tempting options for even the unadventurous but what the chef does with ingredients is astounding. Unexpected flavors and combinations. Who would've thought a plantain could be elevated to such heights? I jumped into the deep end ordering octopus. (I've only had it once before and it was terrible.) I thought if ever there was a time to venture to what is a very exotic entree for me, this was it. It was a revelation. It was flavorful with a crisp exterior. It had perfect "bite" not rubbery at all. I'm not in DC long. I'll have to go back frequently to try the other dishes. I shared plates of risotto, burrata and foie gras as well. Each was delicious. read more

Our server was very nice. Food was decent, but very overpriced. The "entree" branzino was the size of an appetizer. My wife and I went home and ate another meal to curb our appetites. For the price we paid we could've went to other high end restaurants and left much more satisfied read more

Imperfecto, certainly appropriately named given the work still required by management to ensure guests both regular and event have experiences to match the cost. Three days ago, I went for a high profile well planned high profile dinner. Nothing could account for the horrible service, exorbitantly priced drinks and the lack of decorum. The food was pretty good, but couldn't enjoy it because of the little slights experienced by table mates, myself and the host whose 3 staff members out of 100 guests were refused service because they were unaccounted for.. good luck reaching for perfection! read more

We visited this restaurant for brunch on a Sunday. The food and drinks were very nicely prepared. We knew the portions would be small, and they were, but our expectations were managed since we had read up on the place. I wish we had known the restaurant would not allow any substitutions, even just replacing a side. One of our group had dietary restrictions and ended up paying full price for a very small slider with no bun and no side, so do not come here if you have allergies or dietary issues. Our main concern occurred when it came time to pay the bill. We came in as a party of six, three couples, all seated across from our spouses. The check was delivered all in one. We asked for it to be split up and the server, Fernando, informed us that it would "take a really long time". This put us in an awkward position that I have never been in before. One couple went all out with several drinks, ordered the special appetizer, two meals, and dessert. Another couple only had coffee and two entrees. The third couple fell somewhere in the middle. It did not seem fair to any of us to have the couple that did not consume much to pay equally, but they insisted it was fine because they did not want to hold us all up while figuring out the bill. The lack of consideration of the server left us feeling like we had no choice but to work it out ourselves, so we just split it equally and will make up for it later on. I feel like separating checks in any restaurant should be standard practice, and seeing that we were seated in a manner that would have made it easy it should not have been a big deal. With a party of six it should be expected that there will be more than one person paying. read more

My dinner last night at Imperfecto was the best meal I've had in a long time. We ate outside on the patio and enjoyed the ambiance. The service was exceptionally good: friendly, attentive and efficient. We had four dishes: the Alladin burrata, the falafel with Latin tahini and micro-cilantro, the tuna tartare and the wild mushroom risotto with fresh scallops. Each was a creative and super-successful twist on a dish I thought I knew well. My favorite was the risotto, and that's saying a lot, considering I lived in Italy for years and have tasted lots of risotti. The Imperfecto Old Fashioned was a great way to begin the meal, and the sauvignon blanc was also top-notch. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

Nice space and attentive staff but after spending $800 (including tip) for a party of four, none of the dishes were anything to rave about and this included the lamb, pork, and octopus entrees. They are going to have to up their game quite a bit to survive as a fine dining destination in DC. read more

The food was fantastic! The experience, not so much! We ate at the Chef's Table with wine pairings. The bill was over $1000. for two people- way out of range of what we thought it would be. There were fees tacked on to the price that we did not know about plus, the very high restaurant tax in DC so beware that the quoted prices are not the final cost. That said the food was amazing - each course (small bite) was delicious and presented on the plate like a work of art. Surprisingly, the service was very rushed and haphazard. One person was 30 minutes late and they waited for him to start the dinner! We were in the first seating and literally they were ushering us out the door to get in the next seating in, as we put the final bite of dessert in our mouths. We were shocked that they did not start the dining experience on time to accommodate someone who was a half an hour late. Not what you want or expect when you are paying this high a price for a dining experience!! I have eaten at many fine restaurants all over the world- the food was tops- the service was indifferent and rushed. So the three stars is for the service - five stars for the delicious food the chef cooked and artistically plated. read more

Do not go to this restaurant. They charge you $25 per reservation when you make the reservation. This goes towards your bill. So for four people they want to charge me $100. God help you if you get sick at the last minute. Given that Daniel Boulud, Jean Georges, French Laundry and every place in between would never do this, you really need to wonder about the greed and arrogance of this restaurant. Fortunately, all other restaurants do not treat their potential customers this way. I will dine elsewhere. read more

Incredible. I had the chef's tasting menu and will be back for an a la carte experience soon.

The meal was okay. For the ratings and press this restaurant has received, I was expecting (for lack of a better word) perfection. I need to caveat this review because I have a severe allergy (requiring an EpiPen) that I *assumed* could be accommodated. Still, the chef gave me four options from the menu that they would remove elements from and not enhance in any way to make my experience as great as others. I completely respect and honor maintaining the integratory of recipes a chef labors over to make perfect. Still, the lack of flexibility in this day and age for a severe allergy makes one question the route of this personality trait- perhaps it is a lack of impromptu skill, arrogance, or absence of confidence. The one dish that I consumed that remained unchanged (salmon tartare) was well composed with some surprising pops of flavor. I will leave the review here because I do not think the rest of the courses were complete flavor compositions- there were missing elements of acid and sauces that could have been simply compensated. read more

This was overall a disappointing experience, a lot of the items on the menu were out, the food was lackluster, and the way the experience is structured is odd. We found out items had run out after we ordered them, sides were out, etc. We ordered a side of fries and after they were put on the table we were told the ketchup is out. The most frustrating was probably the surf and turf dish, after ordering it, we were told the lobster was out, which is not ideal, but the waiter offered a substitution of prawns, which is fine. However this substitution was the same price as the lobster, and considering the two are not comparable, I was not happy about that. Additionally, the way the restaurant structures the experience does not really make sense given the reality of the situation. We were seated with only drink menus, it took us less than 5 minutes to decide on drinks, but the waiter did not come back for 10 minutes, which is fine, tons of places are short staffed, but he came back, took drink orders, and took away the menus. Then he came back 5 minutes later with food menus. So, we had been seated for 15 minutes before seeing a food menu. This is particularly odd considering that the offerings at this restaurant change often, so we had pulled up the menu on our phones and talked about what to order, only to be given menus with different options. The menu is pretty limited so when 2 out of 7 options are out, the limited menu is extremely restricting. The food wasn't bad per se, but for the price point and portion sizes, I expected to be impressed by flavors and definitely was not. I would not go back again and would not recommend this restaurant, there are tons of places with better food in the area. read more
