If you like Spanish food, this elegant spot is a great choice. The service is impeccable - very lovely staff and it's clear they care about hospitality. They steer you towards an order that will please your palate and even point out better deals (eg get the full vegetable platter instead of just the artichokes). Now to the food - it's quite delicious. The focus is on meat so come on in, my carnivores. We had the special pork, the charcuterie, the aforementioned vegetables, steak, oysters, and a cannelloni-type pasta dish, which was my fave as a gooey cheese lover. Also enjoyed the refreshing sangria! And they brought us cava on the house to celebrate our daughter's graduation. Buen provecho!

Service was good. Cold every time the door from the street opened. Sangria and gin tonic were the highlights. The restaurant week menu was okay. I've had better steaks. Would love to give the restaurant another chance and try their other entrées next time.

Sometimes, Downtown D.C. can clear out after work hours, but Casa Teresa is reason to stay. Located near the Farragut West Metro, Casa Teresa serves open fire-Spanish food from a chef trained by Jose Andres. Walking inside is stepping into Spain with tile below and above you and pots hanging from the ceiling. Peek into the kitchen to see the open fire. Dining here with a group, their back table was perfect for a more quiet dining experience. Every dish was worth ordering, but the beet gazpacho, croquettes, and stew were the winners. The stew is the recipe of the chef's grandmother, the founder of Spain's first political party for and by women. If you love Spanish food, book a table here. It's worth your time.

Very nice dinner and atmosphere but the two entrees we had, Catalán beef stew with rice and the acorn-fed pork, were pretty salty. We loved the goat cheese basque cheesecake dessert!

Before heading to a nearby show last weekend, my spouse and I stopped here for a steak dinner. When I heard it was Spanish, I assumed tapas, but this is more of a traditional dinner spot with a pre-fixe option as well as a full menu that gives a pretty good tour of Spain. Ryan, the sommelier, was extremely helpful. Our server, Ana, was excellent. We started with oysters, cava, and a Spanish cider, followed by chicken-cheese croquettes and canned scallops with bread. Next, we moved onto to the main course. In the back of the restaurant is a chalkboard of all the steaks in house that day by weight. We ordered the "smallest" available one at 44 ounces. You could probably request a certain temp, but we didn't, so the chef prepared it a punto (mostly med-rare). To accompany the steak, we had hen of the woods mushrooms, artichoke with a romesco sauce, and a side salad. Everything was delicious. From where we were sitting, we had a partial view of the kitchen, which was fun to watch and every now and then catch a glimpse of embers flying off the grill. It's obvious that everyone here, from the host to the bussers, takes their job very seriously and takes pride in their work. This seems to be a popular spot for groups--we saw several that evening of all ages. They also seem to have a pretty good-sized bar. Although he claimed to be in a rush to get to the show, my sweet-toothed spouse ordered the custard-y cheesecake for dessert. The bill was pretty high, to be expected. On our next visit, we'll likely sit at the lively, well-lit bar and order bottomless croquettes (our favorite dish of the night) and vino.

Enjoyed this Spanish tapas place. Service was excellent. And cool vibes inside. I loved the croquettes. Just so smooth. The make your own tomato with bread was interesting but I just kinda wanted something more out of it. The sausage that we got was good but we should've ordered a vegetable too. The dishes don't come fully decked out. Overall we enjoyed the meal.

Met friends for dinner - who suggested Casa Teresa. Came in before 6:30pm so we got to enjoy a couple of tapas for Happy Hour. Seated in a separate room which allowed easy conversation. Enjoyed the croquettes and cannellini. Steak was good. Dish portions are on the small side. Sangria was sweeter than my preference.

Came for happy hour and stayed for hours chatting. Happy hour starts at 4/4:30 and restaurant opens at 5. Food- we had pan con tomate, croquettes, manchago cheese, and Patatas Bravas. Good flavors and well seasoned. Service- everyone we interacted with was professional, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. Space- pretty decor, simple, classy but casual. Interesting that it's attached to the square but still feels like it's a standalone spot. When doors are open almost transports you to Europe and not downtown dc.

Nice restaurant overall. I thought it was really overpriced for what you get. Also service was slow to come over and get your order; also they were slow to come grab our card to pay. The restaurant was not busy at all as it was a Monday night. I got an iced tea which was $6- really? To be fair I should've asked for the price ahead of time but couldn't conceptualize an iced tea costing that much. I also got the Escalivada Catalana with bread which was very good but a little salty. They did bring us more bread upon request which we appreciated. I got the Pescado a la Llauna which was very good (not a large portion for $28)- the romesco sauce was excellent. I just don't think the restaurant is worth the price unfortunately!

We were in town for some business and noticed this restaurant and gosh it is absolutely delicious and stunning service... When you're in a new restaurant, the best thing is to ask for recommendations and gosh it was just perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed the Presa Iberica de Bellota, it was so delicious and cooked so perfectly accompanied by some bread... There was three of us and it was a perfect amount for us. We also enjoyed the las Croquetas de la Dolors, potato's and salad It's clear that this place is very popular because we were hoping we would be able to sit outside, but there were no tables available outside for a lovely spring evening. But we did enjoy the inside table. We were right next to the window... what a treat during a nice business trip..

Upscale tapas dinning in a nice restaurant in downtown DC. We were graciously served by attentive servers who described each dish. This was their special of the day with multiple courses that were portioned just right. A little pricey for these dishes but a nice experience.

The restaurant was packed. So for sure get a reservation if you can. First things first, the restaurant is beautiful. The art, the menus, the ambiance. Just a really great hangout spot. Our server was really knowledgeable and friendly. As for the food , unfortunately, i didn't have anything that blew me away. My mini hamburger/Ibérico de bellota mini hamburguesa was actually my favorite item. Very juicy and flavorful. Though $13.00 for one slider was a bit much. My least favorite was the rabbit confit with apricot puree/Conejo en salmorejo con puré de albaricoques. I was excited about this because I can't recall the last time I've ever had rabbit but I think it was the texture of the puree that took away from the dish. Coming in at the middle was the seafood paella. I know it's one of the restaurants headlining menu items but I found the seasoning inconsistent. The rice seemed a bit salty and the shrimp was pretty bland. Combining it to balance it out didn't yield the flavor I was hoping for. Weirdly enough, if I went back and the table ordered it again, I definitely wouldn't mind but probably wouldn't get it myself unless my companions were interested. All in all, I'm not opposed to trying other items on the menu should I know anyone who would like to visit though I can't say it hooked me enough for me to go on my own accord

The service was very attentive, and the staff were kind, welcoming, and helpful throughout the night. Overall, the food was decent, with a few standout dishes. The mushroom croquettes and fried eggplant were especially enjoyable. The patatas bravas and paella, however, were just okay. The paella in particular was quite mushy and lacked depth of flavor. The complimentary birthday dessert was a thoughtful touch and tasted great. While I'm not sure this will become a regular spot for me, since I personally prefer tapas restaurants like Boqueria or Barcelona Wine Bar, I still had a very enjoyable experience overall.

Atxondo really strikes me as an underrated gem. Intrigued to hear how often people in the neighborhood come here. It's mostly a tapas style, so everything but the paella is smaller plates. Everything is wonderfully tasty. Hot toddy - waiter recommended, it's hot and has honey lemon taste like a tea but the alcohol is also a bit strong 2/5 Pineapple margarita - very very strong almost like straight alcohol lol 1/5 Red sangria - super well balanced and fruity! Very yummy 4/5 White sangria - a little bit sharper alcohol flavor and less well balanced but still good 3/5 Embutido Combo - Jamon Serrano, Salchichon de Vic, Chorizo Iberico - I'm not sure which is which so going by the picture left to right. A little spicy, overall good quality but I do think they put a bit too much oil which made it have an extra oil taste 2.5/5 Middle - like prosciutto this is the best one! Not dry at all in any area and not too salty 3.75/5 Right - least favorite but it is still good overall. Taste a little less yummy than the one on the right even though the one on the right is too oily 2/5 Queso Mahon - rich and cheesy. Not too sticky and very soft. I like the little fruit it comes with too 3/5 Seared scallop - usually squid in rice I feel like is just color but this one was super savory and delicious with a unique taste too that I'm thinking must be from the ink! It's made super well and the crispy sear on the scallop adds so much flavor but also the scallop was not overcooked at all, super bouncy and tender. 4.5/5 Spanish risotto - very moist and yummy! Even though it's just vegetables it's made well 3.75/5 Crispy pork belly - falls apart and very tender. Not dry at all! Unfortunately too salty though. Also very heavy. Meat too salty but veggies it came with like potato that soaks up the flavor was like inedible too salty 2/5 Seafood paella - I think it came out a bit faster than 40 minutes but I didn't keep track. Large serving size! Wish there was more seafood but lots of rice! Very moist and flavorful rice, seafood flavor comes through too! Wish they cooked it longer though since bottom is not crispy at all. Shrimp is overcooked unfortunately but individually seasoned. All the squids and octopus don't have much flavor but cooked well and not chewy at all. Mussels were good too but had some weird webbing on some pieces that made me not want to eat it and size is a bit small. Needs more seafood to balance the rice amount 4.25/5 Crimini mushroom - weird with the poached egg especially since there's a bunch of mushroom liquid below that I think would mix weirdly together. But ignoring that, the mushrooms themselves were very flavorful and actually taste really great with paella! 3.75/5 Basque cheesecake - very heavy and dense. Jam is not too sweet which is nice 1.5/5 Churros - very airy and light inside! The fried part is more than double the inside though so wish that was a little less thick so it can be a little less oily but still overall light. Came very warm and the dipping sauces were very liquidy. Chocolate is on the darker side which is a nice match 3/5

The dark warm mood lighting, the corrugated wall, the intimate seating, and of course the small share plates makes for the sexy experience tapas is suppose to be! It is typical of Spanish flavors, heavily relying on high-end cured meats and cheeses, and classics such as croquetas. There is something very special that goes into tapas because its suppose to satisfy you based on good taste over quantity. Large shrimp in a generous skillet of olive oil and slow cooked garlic slices and a iberico mac and cheese are some examples of how they elevate classics we are familiar with. We really liked that they learned into garlic and spice. We found dried Aji Caballero in our meal, great attention to source country. They have a very robust and generous drinks menu. Loved watching others not dining alone and embracing that share quality of the menu design. Perhaps it is not the best tapas I had, I would have liked to see a balance with lighter citrus flavors but maybe that was an ordering issue. At some point, since the menu heavily leans towards rich and decadent, its better to plan around that. Our waitress was amazing, she explained the questions we had on the ingredients and was on it with the refills.
