Pan con Tomate y Queso Manchego

This place is wonderful! One of my favorites is the octopus. My friends and I shared a bunch of tapas. We got the gambas al ajillo, calamari, chicken croquettes, pan with manchego cheese. Everything was great although the chicken croquettes seemed slightly unflavored and could have used a sauce. The ambiance is great and they had decorations for Halloween. The service was also great, especially for a Saturday night. For anyone looking for Spanish tapas in the Georgetown area, this is a great spot!

The food was delicious overall. The cheese platter for $15 was disappointing with a few different cheeses, had to ask for crackers and bread to enjoy it properly. No one dish stood out as excellent with the exception of Pimientos del piquilla rellenos... very tasty. We were seated next to the cashier stand and endured the loud gossiping of the cashier who prevented waiters from refilling water or asking if we needed anything else. In addition to other diners listening to IG post full volume, it made for an unnerving dining experience. Not so quaint for a Sunday evening. I think the owner, seated us because no one at the hostess stand was paying attention to our entree into the restaurant. Try and judge for yourself.

Decided to enjoy happy hour but it was so so. Everything from the service to the food and cocktails left a lot to be desired. In the middle of Georgetown, they had a steady flow of patrons. Happy hour is only at the bar My friend ordered a hibiscus margarita and some Gambas Al Ajillo which essentially is thawed shrimp in olive oil - something that could've been made at home. The first margarita was very light and tasted completely like juice but the 2nd was a tad stronger. I ordered a red wine sangria which was just that - red wine with apples - and Datiles Con Tocino - crispy bacon wrapped dates. They were pretty tasty but fried a little too crispy. The atmosphere is nice and chic but not necessarily a place I would choose to 'have a good time'

This is my first time trying a Spanish restaurant. I have to say Spanish food has its own taste even though it seems really similar to other European or American food visually. However the way how it was seasoned is really different. I think if you have not tried, you should try it. The service is good. The decoration with bullfighting theme is very unique. Spanish seafood rice dish is the winner after all. I like this restaurant.

We had Easter Sunday lunch at La Bodega, and it was such a great experience from start to finish. We sat out on the back patio and pretty much had the whole place to ourselves--it was peaceful and relaxing. Our server was super friendly and attentive, which made everything even better. We kicked things off with drinks--a pomegranate-tini that was light and fruity, and a Caipirinha that was perfectly refreshing with lime, sugar, and cachaça. Both hit the spot. For tapas, we tried a bunch of dishes and loved them all: * Camarones a la Plancha - Grilled shrimp cooked just right with olive oil and garlic. Simple, juicy, and full of flavor. * Chorizo de la Casa - Their house-made Spanish chorizo was delicious--crispy on the outside, smoky, and just a little spicy. * Patatas Bravas - Crispy fried potatoes with a spicy brava sauce and creamy aioli. Crunchy on the outside, fluffy inside--total comfort food with a kick. * Pulpo a la Plancha - Grilled octopus with a nice char, super tender, and served with olive oil and herbs. Really tasty and not chewy at all. * Dátiles con Tocino - Sweet dates wrapped in crispy bacon with a little cheese inside. Sweet, salty, and kind of addictive. * Setas a la Plancha - Grilled mushrooms with garlic and parsley. Earthy and savory, with a great meaty texture. We also had the house bread with olive oil, and wow--it was so good. Fluffy inside, crispy outside, and super light. We could've eaten a whole basket of it. Overall, the food was awesome--everything was flavorful, well-cooked, and nicely portioned. Not too spicy, not bland--just right. Great service, great food, and a chill vibe on the patio. Definitely recommend checking out La Bodega if you're in the mood for tapas and want to try something different than the other Georgetown restaurants.

Everything was off. The best thing about the Paella Marinera con Bogavante was the rice. Which, for a seafood paella, is not okay. The texture was all wrong, and I barely got any meat in the lobster, I felt scammed. The price seemed like a blatant attempt to overcharge tourists who don't know any better. This was my first time eating dinner in Georgetown. A place that, as someone who lives in DC, has never felt very welcoming to the working class. Unless proven otherwise, I feel this part of town is a scam in itself, designed to get you to spend as much as possible in one outing. So, it makes sense that this restaurant relies on its location to make up for the lack of quality in its food. Fancy mall food. The Setas a la Plancha tasted like they were just reheated, and if you didn't eat them quickly, they went cold. The Bistek a la Plancha was overwhelmingly salty. The Pulpo a la Plancha had the oddest chew, and the potatoes were hard and grainy. The biggest plus of my experience was the cleanliness and atmosphere of the building, as well as the kind service.

Last minute reservation for our last night in DC. Wow. This place is a must. Their Croquetas were amazing. If my kid wasn't a fan of dates before this, eating their Dátiles con Tocino means he is now. They were so good! My favorite had to be the tomato bread with Serrano. The star of the night goes to their Paella Marinera con Bogavante. All the seafood in it just sings to your little Spanish heart! It also paired pretty well with the red sangria. Im kind of glad this place is on the other side of the country from me...if it was closer it could be dangerous, I would want to go all the time! DC is so lucky!

This place is really just soso. More of a touristy restaurant I think. Pretty inside and on a very buzzy location of Georgetown with pretty ambiance. The food was lacking in quality and either had lack of, or strange off flavors. House salad had brown ends. Gazpacho wasn't bad but not good either. Lacked the yummy punch of Jaleo's. Potato bravas Romesco sauce had little flavor. The chorizo with peppers and the lamb chops weren't bad though. I'll try another Spanish restaurant next time.

Great place for happy hour or hangout with friends. Convenient location, easy access when in Georgetown, DC. Walkable with nearby parking garage if needed. narrow space inside , typical DC vibe, felt a bit tight especially when the waiters started to walking around in faster pace. Dark interior with slight European decor...interesting and fun to look at. We ordered steak, shrimp, lamb chops, rosters pepper and bread with cheese, along with drinks. The quality of the foods were great. Meats were juicy & not over cooked. Shrimps was tasty but not very special, so was the Spanish bread with cheese. Steak was full of flavor and easy to chew. Service was attentive but lack of warmth, missing the personal touch to it, we felt just like a number on the clicker. If you like tapas like I do, this place is OKAY, & not great. 仅供参考

Everything here was absolutely delicious! We came later in the evening and the staff was so friendly and helpful with the recommendations. We opted in for the 2 for $120 special where we could choose two cold appetizers, three hot tapas, and paella, and a dessert for $120. We tried the: bread tapas one with goat cheese and honey, the other with tomato and prosciutto, the garlic shrimp, lamb chops (not pictured but highly recommend), and the calamari. For the paella we chose the seafood paella which came packed with seafood it was amazing. Everything here is highly recommended it was so flavorful and tasted authentic. I would definitely come back when I find myself in Georgetown.

Cavernous restaurant...crowded, noisy and festive ambiance. It's a surprise that they can keep their act together...but they do for the most part. Our appetiser came out AFTER we were all done with our dinner for our party of 7. It's tapas. Don't order the chicken croquettes or the calamari. The mussels, the shrimp in evoo and the steaks were great. Pls ensure that you order a bread basket...the server does not present the suggestion (bummer!!) but trust me, it is required and helps with the favoured soups and evoo. Oh yes also, 45 min wait time for paellas.

Had the bacon wrapped dates, seared octopus, and Spanish seafood rice. Overall very good. Nice interior decorations with Spanish taste.

The restaurant was packed. So for sure get a reservation if you can. First things first, the restaurant is beautiful. The art, the menus, the ambiance. Just a really great hangout spot. Our server was really knowledgeable and friendly. As for the food , unfortunately, i didn't have anything that blew me away. My mini hamburger/Ibérico de bellota mini hamburguesa was actually my favorite item. Very juicy and flavorful. Though $13.00 for one slider was a bit much. My least favorite was the rabbit confit with apricot puree/Conejo en salmorejo con puré de albaricoques. I was excited about this because I can't recall the last time I've ever had rabbit but I think it was the texture of the puree that took away from the dish. Coming in at the middle was the seafood paella. I know it's one of the restaurants headlining menu items but I found the seasoning inconsistent. The rice seemed a bit salty and the shrimp was pretty bland. Combining it to balance it out didn't yield the flavor I was hoping for. Weirdly enough, if I went back and the table ordered it again, I definitely wouldn't mind but probably wouldn't get it myself unless my companions were interested. All in all, I'm not opposed to trying other items on the menu should I know anyone who would like to visit though I can't say it hooked me enough for me to go on my own accord

The service was very attentive, and the staff were kind, welcoming, and helpful throughout the night. Overall, the food was decent, with a few standout dishes. The mushroom croquettes and fried eggplant were especially enjoyable. The patatas bravas and paella, however, were just okay. The paella in particular was quite mushy and lacked depth of flavor. The complimentary birthday dessert was a thoughtful touch and tasted great. While I'm not sure this will become a regular spot for me, since I personally prefer tapas restaurants like Boqueria or Barcelona Wine Bar, I still had a very enjoyable experience overall.

Atxondo really strikes me as an underrated gem. Intrigued to hear how often people in the neighborhood come here. It's mostly a tapas style, so everything but the paella is smaller plates. Everything is wonderfully tasty. Hot toddy - waiter recommended, it's hot and has honey lemon taste like a tea but the alcohol is also a bit strong 2/5 Pineapple margarita - very very strong almost like straight alcohol lol 1/5 Red sangria - super well balanced and fruity! Very yummy 4/5 White sangria - a little bit sharper alcohol flavor and less well balanced but still good 3/5 Embutido Combo - Jamon Serrano, Salchichon de Vic, Chorizo Iberico - I'm not sure which is which so going by the picture left to right. A little spicy, overall good quality but I do think they put a bit too much oil which made it have an extra oil taste 2.5/5 Middle - like prosciutto this is the best one! Not dry at all in any area and not too salty 3.75/5 Right - least favorite but it is still good overall. Taste a little less yummy than the one on the right even though the one on the right is too oily 2/5 Queso Mahon - rich and cheesy. Not too sticky and very soft. I like the little fruit it comes with too 3/5 Seared scallop - usually squid in rice I feel like is just color but this one was super savory and delicious with a unique taste too that I'm thinking must be from the ink! It's made super well and the crispy sear on the scallop adds so much flavor but also the scallop was not overcooked at all, super bouncy and tender. 4.5/5 Spanish risotto - very moist and yummy! Even though it's just vegetables it's made well 3.75/5 Crispy pork belly - falls apart and very tender. Not dry at all! Unfortunately too salty though. Also very heavy. Meat too salty but veggies it came with like potato that soaks up the flavor was like inedible too salty 2/5 Seafood paella - I think it came out a bit faster than 40 minutes but I didn't keep track. Large serving size! Wish there was more seafood but lots of rice! Very moist and flavorful rice, seafood flavor comes through too! Wish they cooked it longer though since bottom is not crispy at all. Shrimp is overcooked unfortunately but individually seasoned. All the squids and octopus don't have much flavor but cooked well and not chewy at all. Mussels were good too but had some weird webbing on some pieces that made me not want to eat it and size is a bit small. Needs more seafood to balance the rice amount 4.25/5 Crimini mushroom - weird with the poached egg especially since there's a bunch of mushroom liquid below that I think would mix weirdly together. But ignoring that, the mushrooms themselves were very flavorful and actually taste really great with paella! 3.75/5 Basque cheesecake - very heavy and dense. Jam is not too sweet which is nice 1.5/5 Churros - very airy and light inside! The fried part is more than double the inside though so wish that was a little less thick so it can be a little less oily but still overall light. Came very warm and the dipping sauces were very liquidy. Chocolate is on the darker side which is a nice match 3/5

The dark warm mood lighting, the corrugated wall, the intimate seating, and of course the small share plates makes for the sexy experience tapas is suppose to be! It is typical of Spanish flavors, heavily relying on high-end cured meats and cheeses, and classics such as croquetas. There is something very special that goes into tapas because its suppose to satisfy you based on good taste over quantity. Large shrimp in a generous skillet of olive oil and slow cooked garlic slices and a iberico mac and cheese are some examples of how they elevate classics we are familiar with. We really liked that they learned into garlic and spice. We found dried Aji Caballero in our meal, great attention to source country. They have a very robust and generous drinks menu. Loved watching others not dining alone and embracing that share quality of the menu design. Perhaps it is not the best tapas I had, I would have liked to see a balance with lighter citrus flavors but maybe that was an ordering issue. At some point, since the menu heavily leans towards rich and decadent, its better to plan around that. Our waitress was amazing, she explained the questions we had on the ingredients and was on it with the refills.

We sat outside on the patio and it was a gorgeous day. The decor is perfect and I love that they've added plants to cover the staircase. Drinks were delicious and the food came out quickly. Our water glasses were rarely empty. Service was kind. Food wise if I were to stack rank I would say the hummus is the best of what we ordered. The pita bread is thick and garlicky and oily and massive. The croquettes would be at the bottom of my list simply because they're dissimilar from any I've had before and a little bit underwhelming. The tuna was fresh but it's a small dish and not much to write home about. The lamb skewers have a subtle kick to them and they're pretty substantial. I'll definitely be back to try more! Highly recommend on a warm summer day as you're covered by the canopy above, if you're looking for a rooftop vibe.

The restaurant is beautifully decorated, and the staff was friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived. The food was delicious, especially the dessert! We were visiting a friend who recommended this spot, and it definitely lived up to the hype. The atmosphere was lively and energetic, but even with a full house, it was still easy to have a conversation at the table. Overall, a great dining experience and a place we'd happily return to.

They have good drink options which was nice for a group which all had different tastes. We started with appetizers, including the chicken empanadas, the tuna tacos, and ceviche sampler. The chicken empanadas were good, if not particularly memorable. But had a nice crunch on the shell and the inside had a nice savory flavor and not dry. The tuna tacos, which didn't have the most appetizing color, was also tasty. The tuna was tender and balanced well with the crispy shell. The ceviche sampler was also delicious, each one having a different flavor profile. I liked the tigre de leche the best in terms of the acidity and brightness. I just wish the ceviche had some kind of vessel to eat it with. One of the ceviche had plantain chips which was nice but I wanted more. Without it, the texture is just one note. For the main dishes, we got the lomo saltado and the aji de gallina which are two, iconic Peruvian dishes. Both were just meh. The aji was the better of the two. The sauce was flavored well with the creaminess of the sauce not overwhelming the garlic and tumeric flavors. But the rice was SUPER dry, almost crunchy. The lomo saltado was even worse. The beef was overly cooked, some pieces were very sinewy and chewy. It was also overly salty and the veggie to meat ratio heavily favored the veggies and made the dish feel cheap. Overall, it was fine but given the options for Peruvian in DC, not sure this deserves 4 stars+.
