The cocktails are works of art and the food was delicious. This was a genuinely fine dining experience. The mushroom soup amuse that we had was a complete umami bomb--and something I could eat over, and over, and over again. Every member of our party wanted more. The fruit notes under the burrata and the crunch with it are delightful, the tuna was almost too beautiful to eat, and the cauliflower packed an unbelievable amount of favor. The preparation of the lamb somehow made it look and taste like a short rib. While it was good, some members of our party didn't think it could hold a candle up to the previous cauliflower dish. Dessert wise, the birthday treat was a nice surprise and the chocolate bar send off (part of the tasting menu) was crazy good. The reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the hostess. We arrived on time for our reservation. (In fact, one member of our party was early and had pre-dinner cocktails at the bar.). Before even walking us to our table she gave a long spiel about table turnover and how it was essential for us to be done in 90 minutes because someone else needed the table. I understand this. HOWEVER, she was so bizarrely rude and pushy about it that I actually felt uncomfortable in her presence. Further, our party stayed considerably more than 90 minutes because we ordered the tasting menu and wine pairing. Due to this, we witnessed the turnover in the restaurant. The first dinner seating was at capacity, but after that there were PLENTY of tables available. The restaurant was nowhere near capacity. This just compounded how unnecessary the hostesses actions were (to me). read more

Yep, 4 stars. I had a unique asparagus salad topped with flowers and creamy green dressing. Original and delicious. My little had homemade creamy hazelnut chocolate (Giandjuja) with warm brioche, and it blew her mind. I only wish they had some gluten-free options. We ate outdoors, which is always a welcome option in this pandemic life. Would def return. read more

Fantastic!! Will definitely be back. The service, open kitchen concept and extraordinary dishes make it a perfectly Imperfecto experience.

We went for brunch and had a great meal. Ambience is very cool, reminded me of a boutique hotel lobby. We had the salmon, chicken and waffles, and prawns in lemon butter. We finished with dessert which was abysmal, almost ruined the meal with how bad that dish was. Would absolutely recommend the chicken and waffles, balanced flavors, spice and sweetness. The prawns were also delicious, the highlight of that dish was the bread- so good! read more

We went to Imperfecto with no expectation just want to try something new and WOW they blew our mind. I don't why rating is low here but the food are AMAZING. The creativity, the flavor, the staff 10/10. The price is on the high side but the ingredients they use is all fancy at the end all worth it!!!! Omelette: packs with flavors The Spanish sandwich: might be the best sandwich I had Mussels: comes with corn fries ( so delicious) mussels are juicy and flavorful Creme brûlée: 10/10 so light. The ingredients are insane. Very nice desserts to cleanse the pallet. read more

Just awful - tasteless food. Indeed, this merely underlines the fact that Michelin stars mean nothing in the US - because there are simply far too many restaurants and far too few inspectors to have meaningful coverage - something that has been well-flagged and written about. (I've had a couple of decades eating at Michelin-starred restaurants around the world - they're in about 25 countries - so I have a pretty good idea of what to expect.) I had very high hopes, because the menu reads beautifully. I was very disappointed. Of the 4 dishes that I tried last night, 3 lacked any articulation on the palate. My first dish (leek/artichoke) was served in a steep-ridged bowl with knife and fork. Eating this presentation at the bar (i.e. where the bar surface / dish were high relative to the diner) showed an entire lack of fore-thought for the diner's experience: a good chef will think carefully about how will the diner experience each dish, as a matter of basic aesthetic discipline. One of the team should test-drive each dish, including its presentation, to see if it works, including at the bar: and clearly no-one (or at least, no-one with any discernment) had bothered. As a result, the presentation of this dish required angling the knife and fork like a ballet shoe en pointe, and forced the diner to have to jab at the contents of the dish, instead of neat, discreet flicks of the knife, etc. This ruined the dish. Worse came: Truffle taglioini - which was described as "sweet corn cream, asparagus, Pecorino, truffle". The sweet corn flavour was entirely absent. The key note was in fact tomato. I can't stand tomato-flavored pasta dishes, so would never have ordered this if I had know. Okay, this one is a basic rule: you must match your description to the dish actually served. Even McDonalds and food trucks bother to get this right. Michelin-quality this is not. Worse, the combination of black truffle and tomato is simply clunky, crass, tacky - a jar of basic tomato sauce from Safeway has more finesse. It's like serving a decent glass of champagne in a Wellington boot. Just no - it's embarrassing. Next: the Epicurious Cacao. This looked interesting in the dish, very cute presentation. But I have never eaten any dessert with such an utter absence of any taste whatsoever. How is it possible to assemble such beautiful ingredients (plaintain, 66% ganache, etc) and yield something so non-descript on the palate that it might have come straight out of a baby-food jar? Next: the Ricotta Brulee. This could have worked, except that the 'creme' was a rubbery gelatin texture, which would have made any (honest) French-person run as fast as possible out of the restaurant. Honestly, I would expect this 'quality' from McDonalds (does McD do desserts?). Why bother? This shows an utter lack of execution, an utter lack of any delineation for the palate. What's the point of eating tasteless food? As a comparison to Kinship's food (another Michelin place that I used to frequent a lot, before they got too arrogant and effectively stole from me), Imperfecto is far from 'imperfect' - it's an absolute wash-out, a complete fail. If you like fine food, walk on by - DC has a multitude of far better quality fare. read more

Food was solid, some dishes were great (the burrata was a crowd pleaser for sure in terms of both taste and texture). Some dishes were fine, nothing to write home about. However, the junk fees are ridiculous. There is a 5% service fee that is explicitly not the tip. And then there's a 2% digital payment fee if you use the QR code that only pops up at the end of the transaction. Please just build these fees into the menu prices. read more

While the overall vibe is a bit pretentious (including the waiter), we enjoyed a nice meal. After deciphering the word "nixtamalized" used throughout the menu, we had the truffle tagliolini, lamb terrine, and the sweet potato/labneh. The lamb was probably the best, although most of the flavor was in the sauce which was scant. The pasta was mostly forgettable and we enjoyed the textures in the sweet potato dish. read more

Food and service were outstanding, cocktails were very well executed. We were sat next to chefs table but chose to go a la carte instead.

I suggest people to stay away from this restaurant's Michelin star table "experience" because of the following reasons: 1. Set up. It's a communal table. You are seated with 10 other random strangers on a day where you are trying to celebrate your special occasion. Red flag number 1. 2. Assembly line set up. Everyone's food is brought all at once which is fine but people eat at different pace. As soon as the staff see's even 1 out of 12 people finish their food, they come to collect plates and cutleries right away. Then you feel rushed to finish your food so you don't slow down the group. How can this be an experience if you are constantly rushing to finish the food without being able to enjoy them or have a proper conversation while eating the food? Oh, and don't even think about doing wine pairing. You literally get about 5 minutes or so to finish your drink and by the time you are done with the whole set of menu, you are drunk coz you have to drink your wine just as fast as you have to eat. 3. Yelling on top of the lungs to describe each course. Like I mentioned earlier, the table seats 12 people. I happened to be sitting in the middle. Once the food is brought to the table, the head waiter stood behind me screaming to describe the food. How can this be a good experience? 4. Feel the pressure to talk to others. I went for my birthday and other people came for birthday and anniversary celebrations. It's fine in the beginning when you say hi and hello to other people seated to your either side. But because you are stuck in the setting for over 3 hours, you feel forced to have a conversation with the table. Soon enough, the conversation turns into show off fest as everyone tries to brag about all other Michelin starred restaurants they have been to. I just want to reflect on my year and talk about things happening in my life. But no! Now I have to indulge in a conversation with strangers that I will never meet in my life again. 5. Last nail on coffin is the gratuity. So yea you have been sitting for 3 hours feeling rushed to finish your food and drinks and pressured to talk to others. Finally you get your bill. You think you'll tip based on your experience but nope, can't do that because they have already charged you 22%. Not even 18% or 20%, but whooping 22%!! For the cheated set up they have, I can't believe they have the nerves to add the gratuity automatically. In conclusion, I am sure the chef is passionate about his work but it feels like he is their to churn money than his creations. The communal table set up is such a lazy and cost cutting way to go about sharing the experience but you still pay above and beyond in gratuity for less than subpar experience. Michelin guide is equally to blame for giving one star to a restaurant that has no regards for experience. read more

We visited Imperfecto for the first time to celebrate Father's Day (Dog Dad!) at brunch. I've eaten at Seven Reasons a handful of times since the restaurant opened and was very excited to see what Chef Enrique has up his sleeve. The location is a quick walk from the Foggy Bottom metro train station. When we walked in, we picked up Zaytinya-like decor - clean, modern with texture all over the walls. We were promptly seated and greeted by our server who took our first round of drinks. I ordered the Mucho Frio and my boyfriend ordered the Veneziano. Both drinks were a solid A-. They both tasted just like they should, but weren't outstanding, knock your socks off. Both neutral and light. We moved onto the Salmon Carpaccio and Avo Toast to share for appetizers followed by splitting the Surf & Tuf with Bloody Maries. Again, I felt like everything was an A-. Everything tasted as it should and complimented each other, but in my opinion was neutral and light. I did really enjoy the torched gem lettuce. It gave the dish some bite. Even the surf and turf was cooked & salted perfectly - but didn't have me wanting more the next day. The hash brown didn't achieve a nice crispy brown coating and was quite oily. Nothing seemed inventive or even creative. My steak was cooked perfectly and the lobster tail was de-veined almost all the way, there was a small piece left (boyfriends family owns a lobster pound in Maine, so he's quite picky), but that was very easily remedied. My main complaint was the $15 bloody maries. They were terrible. A spicy V8 has more flavor than their homemade bloodies. Which I'm convinced is tomato juice doused with Worcestershire sauce. However, the 2 rounds of espresso martinis we ordered (off menu) made up for the unimpressive brunch bevy. I understand it's brunch and traditionally, brunch isn't a meal where you experience an explosion of flavors, so I'm interested to try out their dinner menu to see if I wake up the next morning wanting the meal I ate the previous night. I might be judging this a bit harsher than other restaurants because of my prior experience at Seven Reasons, but $285 (not including tip) warrants a bit of critique for getting your money's worth. read more

The food was amazing, customer service was unmatched in excellence and the ambiance was inviting. The chef's table is worth saving up to experience. 10 fabulously created culinary delights that really have me wondering why they only have one Michelin star! Mixed feelings about this restaurant -- obviously extremely high quality ingredients, but not sure if the dishes were constructed in a way that really brought out the best in each ingredient. The drinks were amazingly crafted, and the pistachio ice cream was amazing that our table got two. The service was great and our waiter did an amazing job answering our questions. The environment was cozy and high end! read more

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Imperfecto. I booked the restaurant to have a special date night meal and to celebrate the fact that my fiance and I were fully vaccinated. From the moment we walked in until the moment we left, I felt the staff were super attentive. Our waiter (I am blanking on his name) was wonderful. The aperitif he recommended to me--the Imperfecto Club, was a refreshing tropical delight in my mouth. The pineapple juice in the drink was so fresh. While I enjoyed the drink and my fiance enjoyed his, our waiter brought out the menus and recommended that we order one food item from each section of the menu. I got the Moussaka cigar, tuna tartare, and ended with a rib-eye steak with onion carbonara. All were delicious. I definitely would go again. I loved the decor, the staff and the chef and mixologist were amazing. I hope this restaurant has continued success! read more

My 140th Michelin starred experience. The food here is a 5, the setting is a 5, the service is a 5! There is SO much to like about Imperfecto, yet the painful truth is I would never come back for brunch. Why? Because the prices aren't worth it. $150 (incl tax and tip) for 2 for an avocado toast, breakfast sandwich, and 2 desserts just can't be justified. If these were adorned with caviar, foie gras, uni, truffles... you know, the really expensive ingredients you would find at even more expensive Michelins/tasting menus... then yea perhaps. But Imperfecto's aren't, and though the avocado toast as an example is fantastic, it's not a $28 ($36 incl tax and tip) course. Course reviews below: 1) The Spanish Sandwich (5/5) - If I don't think about the price ($32), it's freaking delicious! Perfectly cooked baguette that is soft and crunchy and contrasts perfectly w/the chewy ham yums! I wish this had wayyy more foie gras torchon and truffle oil though, as I barely tasted either, and if it did, maybe the price would be justified. 2) Avocado Toast (5/5) - Probably the best avo toast I've ever had! On focaccia too and w/octopus slivers! Again though, even though it's the best, those few slivers of octopus don't make this a $28 toast compared to numerous other places in the DMV that serve delicious toasts for $8-$13. 3) Mango Tart (4/5) - Loveddd the fresh mango on top though the core was not sweet or tart enough and ultimately unmemorable. 4) Ricotta Creme Brulee (4/5) - Yesss to how much the top resembled glass that was fun to crack and even more fun to eat! The ricotta taste wasn't bold enough though, and neither was the accompanying sorbet. To be clear, I am not critiquing prices that are high generally (again this is Michelin #140 and I have no issue paying $400 on an epic meal). I am saying that what Imperfecto offers should not be as expensive as it is considering the ingredients and comparative taste/value vs. other restos. If they knocked the price for everything down $5-10, I feel like more ppl would venture here (for a Sunday brunch, 90% of the tables were empty), and I wish they did because the food is really stellar! read more

Went with a group of friends, reuniting for a special occasion. As someone who revers this restaurant group and executive chef because I frequent their other experiences, I have to say that Imperfecto can't get me to spit on it if it was on fire. I feel insulted by how bad the experience I had here was in comparison to what I thought I would get. Decor is literally the only reason this place gets a star--and yelp won't allow me to post a review without stars. We ordered two aps and decided to leave before finishing our meal because of service and taste of food was basic. read more

Went here for brunch with my girlfriend. Upon seating, they were quick to acknowledge it was her birthday and went above and beyond to make sure the experience was perfect. The waitress was very kind, I even notice upon returning from the bathroom my napkin was neatly folded on the table. Small details like that make it easy to see why they have a Michelin star. The chicken and waffles were amazing and a perfect portion. The prawns came in a sauce that left us wanting to bottle up and bring home. At a big price point, it's a good spot for a special occasion read more

I will keep this short as five stars is not enough! The experience, food, gorgeous environment, and specialty drinks were EXCEPTIONAL! I recently went here with a friend for the chef's table experience, and I have to say this was by far the best Michelin Star experience I've had. From the light and fun banter with the wait staff, synchronized placement and retrieval of the dishes, high quality cocktails, presentation of each and every dish, and the high quality of every dish within the 10-course meal was the experience worth paying for. No pictures because we were too busy enjoying the experience. Tip: When you confirm your Chef's Table Experience reservation, ask to be seated RIGHT next to chef. Imperfecto is Chef Enrique Limardo's Michelin starred restaurant offering South American and Mediterranean inspired cuisine. We really enjoyed their tasting menu which offered creative pairings and flavors. We especially enjoyed the paella and pork belly. Service was friendly and welcoming and we also thought the pacing for each dish was on point - allowing us to enjoy and savor while not feeling rushed. read more

Truly disappointed for a 1-star Michelin restaurant. I got sold on trying this venue after reading it was a recommended spot on a top list on a website, but after the pushy service we got, the price we paid for it and what we ended up getting, I plan to never come back to this location and seriously discourage other customers from going until they can get their service act together. Now for the details 1. It definitely looked like to be able to eat at a restaurant, there was no other way than to get a reservation in advance plus the reservation comes with a fee (granted it gets applied towards our meal) but when we arrived, there was absolutely no one, and there was almost no other customers until much later. 2. After we sat down, the server, and offered us the drink menu expecting me to put an order on the spot and when I asked to let me see what was available, he immediately responded with a tone of surprise "Oh, everything is available", to what I had to explain, "I meant, I want to see what you have in your menu before I decide", his tone almost made me feel like, what, are you stupid? of course everything is available, you should improve your vocabulary. 3. Subsequently when we asked for the menu because we were more hungry than thirsty for an alcoholic drink, the server was almost waiting for us to decide on selecting a drink to get started. 4. Finally the server brought the menu, and I asked to see it and that I wanted a-la-carte, but he was really pushy in telling us about their tasting menu and how we should order one for each of us. So, I really felt like he didn't care what I really wanted, he just wanted to sell me the most expensive set of items. 5. Next comes the MOST CRITICAL PART, when we were putting our oder, we selected the Steak Tartare, which we have never tried before nor heard of it before, due to the lack of knowledge and that the menu didn't have any kind of remark or warning that the menu item is raw, and the server made no note to make us aware that the item was raw meat. So, when it arrived, we were very surprised, and asked if they could cook it, which he said no they couldn't which I understand now that I read more about the meal, but the PROBLEM was more about the attitude and service, the way he looked at us and the tone of the voice was almost implying, "you guys are dumb, you don't know this?", and considering it's supposed to be a Michellin 1-star restaurant, that he didn't accommodate to perhaps help us exchange the item or some other alternative, it felt very degrading for such a supposedly high end restaurant. And this happened again to the table next to us, I saw the exact same thing happen with the exact same item and I noticed the rudeness of the server again. Considering the portions and the quality of service, this is definitely a place I will never visit again and completely say stay away from it till they fix their service quality and perhaps really live up to their Michellin 1-star because I've had way more respect and service quality at much lower end resturants. read more

The service was excellent -- very knowledgeable and attentive, gave wonderful recommendations. The food was simply delicious. Interesting and complex flavor pairings, beautifully cooked, and most things were well-served. The decor and ambiance were quiet, artistic and romantic. I removed a star for two reasons: for the price of this food, it should all be artistically and beautifully plated. The moussaka cigars, while delicious, were visually disappointing. It's the level of plating I would get at a sports bar. The second reason is that my reservation deposit was not applied to my bill, and therefore I was overcharged $25. Generally not a big deal, but this is an expensive Michelin restaurant. That shouldn't happen. read more

wow, first of all, imperfecto is like a symphony of fine dining. i love that the menu is seasonal and constantly changing. some standouts: - the moussaka cigar, the addition of manchengo: inspired! - potato mille feuille- what can be so great about potatoes? this right here! - the burrata is fun and light - anything made with lebneh is gonna hit - while i am normally a steak person, their seafood really shines. i mean, muhammara tomato sauce? baharat spiced eggplant? if you love the warm flavors of the middle east, you are in for a treat! for dessert, the creme brulee was so good we ended up ordering 2! i haven't tried the sorbets but they look amazing. I didnt love the imperfecto eclair (eh, its an eclair, its $15, it seems a little crazy) but my dining partner in crime was a fan. ambience wise, its ok, i dont know what i expected but i expected something more, its nice but it doesnt feel special. that said, the service is impeccable and makes you feel like a star. read more

We had an exceptional experience at Imperfecto. The service was incredible, friendly, and enthusiastic and the food was some of the most un we've had in the city. From the start of our meal, we were attended by several staff, from the server to the sommelier. Our server offered helpful insights into each dish we were considering and helped us craft a wonderful dinner experience. The dishes themselves were incredible. Perhaps the best part was that each dish was an amazing interpretation of what we would have expected. We started with complimentary mushroom bisque served in cocktail glasses and the moussaka cigar which was surprisingly light and very flavorful. The ravioli was one of our favorite - it was fascinating blend rich, savory, lemony, and bright. We'd also highly recommend the aged steak - beautiful preparation and the the onion carbonara was incredible. The dessert was also amazing - we went with the Forbidden rice, but can't wait to try the others when we return. read more

I have to say - this is was one of the worst and most expensive meals I've ever had in DC. I went here for my birthday. Legitimately everything was overpriced and ranged from bad to mediocre at best. My favorite parts of the meal were the complimentary mushroom soup in the beginning and the chocolate at the end - those were fantastic. Had the moussaka cigar and the burrata - both of which were okay but nothing to write home about. For entrees, we had the lamb (good), shrimp (decent), duck (inedible) and truffle pasta (weird and not in a good way). Got the pear desert and it was similarly gross. The wine was alright but there is no reason their cheapest bottle should be around $100. We were all severely disappointed with this place and I cannot recommend it. I went to Imperfecto twice, once a couple days since it first opened and a second time because a friend wanted to try it. In short, despite the convenience of the restaurant, located in the building across from where I live, the chances of going back are low. Food was great (from a flavor and a presentation perspective). The hospitality is top notch too. However, I'm still giving it a low score out of principle. A 22% tip is added to your final bill by default, no matter the size of your party. I have no issue with added gratuity but when you are awkwardly asked at the end to add gratuity towards the kitchen staff? Correct me if I am mistaken but kitchen staff AKA the chefs are most likely salaried and line cooks are hourly employees. read more

This was the most magnificent dining experience I have had in years. Granted, some of that is due to the pandemic, but even post-vaccination it is hard to find an establishment that can maintain and train its staff to such levels of hospitality perfection. The food was phenomenal and inventive. But what will make me swoon over a restaurant is the kind of service that makes you feel taken care of. They excelled at this. Staff was solicitous and attentive without hovering. They were knowledgeable about items on the menu, wine pairings, and generally just pleasant to speak with. Halfway through our meal, after the first course but before entrees, a four-top was seated right next to us. Several members of the party were wearing enough cologne and perfume to be flammable if too close to a match. I am also rather allergic to scents, they give me awful headaches and nausea. My dining partner asked a staff member if there was any chance we could be moved to another table and they accommodated us swiftly and without any whiff of reproach. I know it's not always possible to move diners around, and I'm lucky there was room, but mostly it was just so nice that they didn't make me feel terrible about the request. (Don't worry, we showed our gratitude in gratuity.) Everything from amuse bouche to the dessert was excellent and well worth the expense. Highly recommend. read more
