Impact fixed my truck. I had installed the spark plug wires how the Haynes repair manual directed, which was incorrect, so the engine would not start. I had it towed to Impact for repair. Two days later I was billed $255 to arrange the wires correctly. No other work was done, apparently. I am not going to give them my business again. read more

Every time my car is brought there (even for state inspections) it leaves with more problems than it came in with. To "fix a light" they removed the fuse from the computer stabilization unit to. Burnt out that fuse, didn't replace it, and let me leave in that car without warning me. Removing that fuse and not replacing it (it's like a two dollar and super abundant part) could've caused serious electrical issues and made my car very unsafe. I've heard this happen with a number of cars that women have brought in there. I never post bad reviews but like putting people in unsafe vehicles with circumstances they caused is unacceptable. read more

I had a late model used car which I was interested in buying brought to Impact Auto for a check-over before I bought it. The review indicated that the car needed an oil change, air filter, and fan belt in the near future. When I tried to negotiate with the dealership to fix these items as part of the purchase, they said they had been done as part of the certification process and would not do the work I requested based on the Impact Auto review. The salesman brought me out to the car and showed me the oil on the dip stick (clear indicating it was brand new), the air filter (brand new - white with no dirt), and the fan belt was fine. Very embarrassing to say the least and almost caused a rupture in the purchase. To say that I watched $79 paying for this review would be an understatement. read more

Impact is one of those reliable and honest garages you hope to find. The owner Pete runs a business that takes care of its customers and I've never felt that they were doing anything I didn't want them to do, that they weren't telling me the whole story, or that they were pushing services or repairs that I don't need. I'm not someone who cares much about cars - I'd prefer not to have it - but I know Impact is going to help me keep it on the road and keep me and mine safe when we're in the car. If you're into cars, I do gather that the owner knows more than a thing or two, so you'd probably enjoy talking with him. More than once as I've been waiting for my car to get a routine fix, I've watched Pete, his daughter, and other staff interact with customers and it is always reassuring to see that they treat people and their cars' problems well. You also have to appreciate someone who will be honest with a drop-in customer who has never been there before to tell them that the wait for an oil change is about an hour and if they want to go to a national chain, it is located nearby and he gives them directions. It doesn't appear to be done out of not wanting the business, but to make someone else's day a bit better (even though I want to pull the potential customer aside and tell him he should really wait the hour for an oil change at Impact). Well, perhaps Impact just has a backlog of other work to do, but the point is that they are honest about it and don't promise to have someone in and out in 30 minutes and you find yourself still there 90 minutes later. The upgrade of the waiting area: new paint, new chairs, and a TV was a nice touch that I can appreciate. read more

I've been taking my cars (4, including 2 daughters') to Pete's for almost 13 years. I trust them and highly recommend them to anyone for repairs and maintenance work - I wouldn't go anywhere else. I do know a thing or two about cars (although at this point in my life all I really want to spend my own time on is simple things - replacing brakes, radiators, alternators, oil - the simple stuff), and Pete and his folks really do know their stuff. I've always felt they have my best interests at heart and I've always gotten a fair shake. BEWARE! My daughter took her car to Impact Auto for a state inspection. She got a call two hours later telling her she would need front brake pads, new rotors, both front sway bar links and by the way the oil is dirty and needs to be changed. The oil part made me think since we changed it and the filter only 60 days prior. Total cost $550.00. We decided to go to the shop and see what Impact Auto was talking about. Upon arrival we met with the owner's daughter and asked to see the parts needing replacement. She was very polite and said sure and took us to the vehicle. First thing I looked at was the rotor. Smooth with no cuts or gouges and when I said there was nothing wrong with the rotor she told me they only recommended we replace the rotors. Now let's look at the oil. Pulled dip stick and oil on stick was clean and like new. At this point asked why they were checking oil for a state inspection and was told they were a full-service repair facility and proactive when it came to their customers. I then question the cost of all the repairs and was told maybe I would be better off going to another repair facility. At this point red flags go off in my head and I immediately agreed with her. As I walked out of the shop I mention I hope nothing is done to the car to revenge our debate as to the necessary repairs and costs. Now comes the most troubling part of the story. We get the car home and decide to do the repairs ourselves. Total cost of parts $83.00 for brake pads, rotors and sway bar links. While removing the wheel lugs on the wheel they had removed during the inspection, one lug would not loosen. After repeated attempts to remove the lug nut if finally broke and there is the revenge part of the story. For those of you who don't know, it is very easy and a known trick for dishonest repair facilities to cross thread the lug nut with an air impact gun when replacing the wheel. Well they sure showed us, off course this is only speculation on our part BUT go figure. I went on with the necessary repairs and found that the rotors were okay, and the sway bar links were also okay. One brake pad was out of specs out of the two on the wheel removed but they were not metal on metal as my daughter was told on the phone. In addition, the pads on the opposite side were less than 20% worn. Giving them the benefit of doubt I too would have replaced all the frond pads regardless. So, the moral of the story is be careful to look at customer reviews when you select a service repair facility. I looked at Impact's reviews and they looked pretty good. They sure fooled us! BEWARE! Hopefully this review will help someone. I am not sure yet, but I figure the lug nut trick will cost my daughter around $150.00 to $200.00 to repair. read more
