Dishonest. They take AAA flatbed order, required for BMWs. Show up with a tow truck and try to talk you into letting them tow - knowing full well they could damage the car. [FYI - their flatbed is in Newport News.] Right. Neither they nor AAA would pay for that damage done by towing. THEN, they leave the AAA order open as if they are responding and leave you standing in a dangerous place until you figure it out and call AAA. Minimum of two hours lost. We've complained about this process several times. We don't understand why AAA keeps damaging their reputation by letting these liars stay on their service provider list. read more

This company is so unprofessional and very dishonest. The person towed my car submitted a photo THAT THEY EDITED AND SUBMITTED as evidence to show that I didn't have my decal on my car. I also have photo evidence of a picture I took that shows BOTH decals from this year and last year are still on my car BEFORE it was towed from 2 weeks ago. This company should not be allowed to do business with these shady practices. I would submit to the BBB but they already have a F rating. read more

tl;dr - We waited over a day for this truck to show up, while they lied to us repeatedly, telling us they were just minutes away. Do not use or trust this company. Longer version: I think they may be scamming AAA. We needed a tow, and AAA sent J&R Towing to pick us up, telling us the tow truck would be there within an hour. We waited over an hour. No tow truck. We called AAA back and they contacted J&R, who said they'd be 20 more minutes. We waited 30. No truck. Phone call again, J&R said 30 more minutes. No truck. Then, they said an hour. No truck. Eventually, J&R just stopped answering the phone altogether. The next day, we're still waiting. No truck. On day 2, we paid a different towing service to pick us up, who showed up immediately, 10 minutes after we called them. We never did hear back from J&R -- I hope AAA did not pay them for a tow they never gave. read more

David called to confirm his arrival time which was 15 minutes of the time AAA provided. When he arrived, he was very personable and professional. After securing the car on the flatbed, I rode with him to the mechanic's location. During the ride the conversation flowed easily as we talked about several different subjects. They had my call for an hour through AAA, then claimed they had no driver available. When inquired in that time about a private tow for the same thing, They said they could have a driver there in 10 minutes, never trust them. read more

If I could give this company no stars for service I would! I was stranded in the middle of a busy road in Williamsburg and told that my driver was on the way. The communication between the driver was great but the dispatcher told him to put me to the side and go pick up another vehicle when he was already en route to me. Car mechanical issue happened just off the Interstate at Williamsburg, 90 miles from home....J & R Towing got to me in 32 minutes, two minutes earlier than promised. Dale towed me under AAA tow 90 miles to a garage local to me, had friendly conversation all along to the garage one mile from my home. My car was towed 90 miles to my local auto repair shop one mile from my house 2 hours and 5 minutes after my breakdown in a safe, friendly and efficient manner. Great job! read more

They arrived quickly and even came with a second truck to get our family of 4 to the car dealership for service. I would recommend this company. I had the unfortunate experience of breaking down on I-64 about 15 miles from home. Jimmy from J & R came out, flat-bedded my car, delivered it to my repair shop after hours, dropped the key and description of the problem in the after hours drop box. An otherwise unpleasant situation was made much better given the courteous service provided. read more

Back in early April while entering the Jamestown settlement my 2002 Honda CR-V decided to break down. It did not want to move forward for some unknown reason, but would go in reverse. After pulling off to the side of the road, I jacked up the car and found a front caliper bolt was no longer holding the caliper in place causing the brake pads and caliper to lock up the front passenger tire. I contacted AAA and Rick from J&R Towing responded within 15 minutes. He transported my wife, 2 daughters, and myself to the Honda dealership in Williamsburg where I thought I could easily get a caliper bolt and install it and be on my way. Rick waited outside to see if the dealership would be able to fix the car. Honda would not even take a look at the car and to make matters worse, they did not even have the caliper bolt in stock. Rick recommended that I call his friend at O'Reilly Auto Parts and see if they had the bolt in stock. When I found out that they did, he had O'Reilly deliver the bolt to his garage. Even though J&R does not have a working shop, Rick allowed me the use of his pump Jack and socket wrenches to install the caliper bolt and help me get back on the road. He really went ABOVE and BEYOND to help me out of a difficult situation. Thanks again, J&R is the best. read more
