This is a divey-diner place and lives up to every wonderful quality that you can think of for such a place. The dining room is small, and well-known locals are coming in. Service is quick, and portions are huge. They have everything from traditional American to Mexican. My only suggestion (not even a complaint!) would be to make the portion and price smaller. I wanted chilaquiles so we went for breakfast. It was OK. Lots of food at a decent price but the quality wasn't amazing. It tasted like a greasy spoon diner meal. We love this place! Greatest local spot and so glad we found it years ago ( we used to go to Soscol cafe and this is the same people also Jefferson cafe is theirs) so a lot of the same menu items. I took my daughter here for the first time. We experienced great friendly service and excellent food with large portions. The prices are average. I spent $35 with tip included for two coffees and two omelet breakfasts. I believe their menu is identical to their other restaurant, the Jefferson Cafe. Great spot. Inexpensive. Killer portions. I came in for lunch on Friday after looking up an inexpensive and well rated spot that was close to the office. Imola Cafe popped up first, and since it was already on my radar, I decided this was the one. First, they have breakfast foods and lunch food, which makes it hard to decide what to get. I opted for the chicken fried steak sandwich, which was on their specials menu and seemed like a good compromise between both meals. You can opt for fries or onion rings (more like onion straws, I'd say) for your side. I think salad might have been an option, too, but I'm not 100% there. The wait was short and the portions were gigantic. The picture doesn't do it justice, but the onion rings looked like a miniature mountain on my plate. I pretty regularly finish my entire plate and it wasn't happening today. Sandwich was good, piled high with cheese, avocado, tomatoes, jalapeños, and bacon. It's rare that chicken fried steak is an afterthought in any meal, but the eclectic mix of toppings were really the stars here. The only downside I can see is that they're only open til 3pm, which makes visits harder to do on most days of the week. That said, I'm planning to bring the girlfriend here for breakfast soon, and maybe this time I'll get the breakfast portion of the chicken fried steak - sans sandwich. read more

Ah, the greasy spoon. The little hole in the wall that makes a mean breakfast, a stick to your ribs breakfast, a "this either nourishes me for a long day" or "I need a nap immediately following this" breakfast. That's what you get at Imola Cafe. If your local, you may have been to the old Soscol Cafe, or the Jefferson Cafe. While Soscol is closed, Jefferson and Imola are run by the same folks. Think big, greasy (not in a bad way), diner style food with a Mexican twist. You can get biscuits and gravy or corned beef and hash, but you'd be missing out on the Green Chilaquiles (note, far superior to the red) or a killer Machaca. Huge portions and quick service. Ambience is a half step over corner donut shop, but the prices are very reasonable for the size and quality. I think I prefer Jefferson, but they're very similar and you'll be pleased with either if you give them a go (especially after a night of drinking). read more

Stopped in for breakfast because it was close to our hotel. Super happily surprised. We had the Napa Omelette and the Green Chilaquiles. Damn that omelette was big and stuffed full. The green sauce on the chilaquiles was one of the best I've had in a long time. Totally recommend. Saw a 1 review because they don't compost and give you straws? WTH? Imola Cafe is the latest addition to Napa's River Park. It's a small diner, open till the early afternoon, with a stunningly varied menu of salmon, huevos rancheros, pancakes&French toast. After waking up very early for a royal wedding, Imola Cafe hit the spot with regular coffee refills, two pancakes, and a fresh fruit cup. I've eaten here a few times for lunch, since I work so close by, and each time I've been impressed. Today, was the day that prompted me to write a review... I ordered the green salad with salmon filet and it was a wonderful salad with a very generous sized piece of salmon. It wasn't over cooked either. Next time I'd put the dressing on the side as they were generous with the dressing too :-) The staff is super friendly as well. The waitress is attentive and sweet. The prices are reasonable too. I have never left a negative review of any restaurant, however I just cannot review the Imola Cafe. When this cafe was located on Soscol Ave in Napa the food was delicious as well as being plentiful. After they moved to their Imola street location the food is awful. I have given them many chances (I'm a slow learner) but after this mornings breakfast they earned this review. I order eggs, hamburger patty, hash brown and rye toast. Eggs were extremely small and served broken with zero taste, the hamburger patty was defrosted either in the microwave or hot water and was about 1/8" thick, the hash browns were cold in spots as they were not fresh. Then to top it off the coffee which btw cost $3.25 was lukewarm and was very cheap coffee. Service was terrible and was rush which surprises me as the place wasn't busy; never ask if I wanted more coffee or anything else. Then I get the bill and there is a 65¢ charge for using a ATM card. Nothing posted anywhere about the charge for CC use. Now the the gross part, I went to use the rest room and the cook came out without washing his hands. I really miss their older restaurant on Soscol. The good news is I found another diner call South Kelly Grill that is excellent. Sorry Imola Cafe but change or go out of business...your choice. read more
