the line was pretty long when i came and ik that they have matcha lattes, but when i was waiting in line the color of peoples matchas did not look great asked n they recommended me the orange latte and i would say it was pretty good!! it was just a regular latte with like a splash of orange flavor but nothing game changing. for the price of like $8 and the size, i think the place is okay. would stop by again if i head over to the beach, but wouldn't go out of my way yummy rating: 6/10 read more

I had been hearing a lot of hype about this place in the coffee scene, so I finally decided to check it out. Honestly, it didn't live up to the reputation. The space is incredibly small -- not really cozy, just cramped. I was also surprised they didn't have pour overs available when I visited. For a shop that gets talked about this much, you'd expect a little more focus on showcasing the coffee. The espresso was the one highlight. It was well pulled and easily the best part of the visit. But outside of that, the experience felt pretty underwhelming overall. Parking in the area is also a hassle, which makes it even harder to justify going out of the way for it. With all the hype surrounding this place, I expected something a little more special. Save yourself time and money. Go to little while located in normal heights. read more

First time here this week. The baristas were very friendly and coffee was delicious...ordered a flat white. Frothed perfectly and presentation was great. Parking is street so best on a weekday in terms of availability. My only notes would be the lack of table seating and space...very narrow seating area so can see it getting cramped and packed. Also, they didn't have decaf espresso and I typically limit my caffeine intake so wouldn't be able to go in the afternoon since I cut caffeine off at a certain time;) Bathroom was clean so I appreciate that. Loved the simple decor/vibe of the whole coffee shop over all. I would definitely come again but probably just weekday mornings or latest, mid-day. read more

Tried this when we were in town visiting. The aesthetic is clean, a bit crowded. Vibe is friendly with customers making small talk and smiling and sharing names of what they ordered which I appreciate. I feel ambivalent about service. The person at the register is also a barista supported by another barista. The cashier was quiet and took my order in a very zen manner. He was there to take my order and prepare my order but no more. He was in the zone. Others have mentioned this and I guess it is what keeps him making perfectly brewed and spectacular coffee, which is what I want. I had the orange latte which was superb and provided a delicious gentle rush of sweetness akin to smelling orange blossoms in the spring. Just perfect. I also had their cortado which was perfect. I do wish they provided lids for their smaller to go cups. Be ready to stand in line for a bit as we all know perfect coffee can't be rushed. read more

this place was really cute! it fit the area very well and i hope to be coming back when i go for another walk around the area. My friend and I tried their cookie and it was a delicious addition to my matcha. The drinks came out fairly quick that day as we did come at a quiet time. There is limited seating to be mindful of if you come at a busier time. There is also no lot attached, so we parked in the neighborhood across the street just to be safe. Overall fun spot to try and good selection! read more

Solid little coffee spot. Their cortado was DELICIOUS and their strawberry matcha was refreshing and not too sweet. Service was pretty quick. I drank my drinks so fast I forgot to take a photo. You can tell they put love into their drinks. They only have whole and oat milk, I wish they had almond milk or another type of milk. If you love a huge cup of liquid, this probably isn't your spot. Portion is small (but I don't mind that). read more

After trying the Little Italy location, I was looking forward to trying Immersion's second location. It wasn't too busy on a Sunday morning around 10:30AM but the store is very small! Definitely get your drinks to go and check out the waves :) The strawberry matcha was delicious but the orange latte was a bit overpowering with the zestiness. I would opt for the strawberry drinks or the cream top drinks if you want something special! read more

Loved the newest location of immersion in La Jolla. Very small spot with limited seating but a few seats outdoors if you get there early. I got the vanilla bean flat white and it was a perfect amount of flavor without being too sweet. We also tried the orange mocha - which was an interesting mashup and a little on the sweeter side but tasty. The cream on top drink was super strong, with a little cream to dilute the espresso but could have used a little sweetness. Overall, enjoyed all our drinks! read more

Cute cafe in La Jolla but be prepared for a long wait on the weekends. Waited about 30 minutes to order but the drinks come out fast after that. I got the orange cream latte and it was creative and delicious. Very strong citrus flavor that pairs well with the chocolate notes of the drink. Their menu seems quite intriguing, but the coffee is very mid in my opinion. The staff was not very friendly and they don't have any Wi-Fi. I was expecting a way better experience and wanted to get some work done. It looks like they don't have a restroom here either. I'm not sure if they do because I didn't ask. Superior vibes It's a really small place but the barista was very nice and the drinks came out pretty quickly. The espresso cream was sweet and creamy with a nice crunch from the sugar rim. The cortado was a little disappointing for me since it's supposed to be temped quite low compared to other drinks. It's supposed to be chug-able, but this one unfortunately was too hot and I had to wait about 5 minutes before drinking. The milk had a decent amount of froth and espresso had good depth and flavor. I'd definitely return for a gesha pour over sometime. My main complaint would be that I wish the seating was not inside or maybe one table less because we did get a bit stuck in the walk way due to customers after us and the people sitting at the tables. read more

Visited Immersion on a Saturday morning and it was pretty packed! Parking was easy to get about a block away on the street, walking there was an ease. It looked like they mainly do take out coffee as the shop is small with a four seat table out in the front and a two seat table next to the outside of the salon a little away from the busy entrance which was nice if you wanted to have a nice conversation with someone. The menu is located by the bar, little hard to see even from the entry of the door, but was very grateful for their alternative oat milk option. Staff was nice, ordering was easy, but I think the orange chocolate latte is definitely an acquired taste. Three of us ordered the orange latte and one of us got the strawberry matcha. Per my friend who got the matcha, it was amazing! For us three who got the orange latte, it was beautifully crafted, but we found the taste of the bitterness and orange zest to be quite strong, we all could not finish our lattes but maybe got halfway through, it was great caffeine but I would definitely choose a different flavor if we come back. I do think however that some people may actually really like the drink if they are a fan of those orange chocolate that you buy at a grocery store. Really liked the look of the store with the large stereos in the wall. But it is definitely a hard place to hangout and talk if it's a busy or crowded day. We saw a few different groups of customers standing and hanging out by the open window area where there's a small bar to place your drink on the side of the store. We were lucky to grab the table outside the shop. Overall it was an okay experience for us, but I would not say no to the orange latte unless you tried it yourself. read more

After hearing that a new coffee/matcha shop opened up in La Jolla, I had to try it because the menu looks so simple yet I've heard such good things! I tried their strawberry matcha latte and the orange latte. Both are delicious but I will say their strawberry matcha is like no other I've tried! I'm someone who likes to make matcha at home since most outside cafes have a watered down matcha flavor or make them too milky for my liking. Immersion's matcha is really smooth--not grassy or bitter at all and the strawberry sweetens the drink well. The strawberry isn't nonexistent or tart. I especially love the freeze-dried strawberry pieces on top! Their orange ganache latte (coffee) is also delicious! If you're someone who loves those dark chocolate oranges during the holidays, this latte has the not too sweet rich dark chocolate flavor. The orange syrup also isn't too artificial tasting. Overall, the price and taste of drinks match. The La Jolla store is quite small so there isn't much seating and parking would be residential street spots. The vibes are nice for a modern cafe! read more

I had the BEST latte of my life here. I stopped by Immersion's farmers market pop-up trailer in San Diego, and wow I'm still thinking about it. I'm a self-proclaimed coffee snob and usually not into sweet drinks, but when I asked for a recommendation, the barista suggested their strawberry latte. I ordered it half sweet, and from the very first sip, I was blown away. Truly the best coffee experience I've ever had--the strawberry flavor was fresh, balanced, and complemented the espresso perfectly. Beyond the coffee, the vibe was great and the service was warm and welcoming. I honestly wish I lived in San Diego so I could come here all the time. 2nd time here now, ordered the orange latte and the Colombian Golden Hour pour over. Orange latte is a great for sipping, loved how much effort goes into making the orange compote. (Did you know the orange zest left over from the compote is made into their cookies??) The Colombian pour over is super yummy. Subtle peach notes when sipping with a velvety honey finish. The matcha here is super subtle and not as good as other places in sd the strawberry matcha (4/10) just tasted like milk with strawberry syrup. It's a really cozy cafe with not much seating space, but the strawberry matcha and the hojicha butterscotch coffee were perfect. Worst matcha I've ever had I really wanted to like Immersion Coffee's matcha, but this was hands down the worst matcha I've ever tried. It didn't even taste grassy or earthy like matcha normally does -- it honestly just tasted like warm milk with a weird, unpleasant aftertaste. There was almost no real matcha flavor at all. It wasn't rich, smooth, or fresh. It was bland, off-tasting, and disappointing. No amount of sweetener could fix it, and I couldn't even finish it. If you're expecting real matcha flavor, I definitely wouldn't recommend this. read more

I came here with a group of friends and didn't really love it. I ordered a strawberry matcha and they poured matcha that had been sitting in the bowl, it's not made to order and it was sitting there for at least 5 minutes. There's no WiFi, maybe one electrical outlet, there weren't any alternatives for diabetics (no one in my group was, but a woman ordering had diabetes and she essentially couldn't have anything). It's a BEAUTIFUL space but it's also very limiting. I was really looking forward to this visit and was let down not even due to expectation -- just by what cafes should have as their bare minimums they lacked. They only had kind of fancy drinks that reel you in. read more

I'm new to the neighborhood and found this place recently. The baristas are very friendly. They offered my daughter a chocolate milk, they offered to refund me since they couldn't brew the single origin I requested. Very kind of them, I refused a refund and had the other variety which was delicious. This place is small and cute. I love the coffee cocktails, very attention to detail and premium vibe here. Small little coffee house in La Jolla with great tasting ceremonial grade matcha drinks and ofcourse coffee. I got a flat white here while my friend ordered a strawberry matcha. Both were delicious. Definitely not a shop where you can sit for hours as seating space is limited, but that's not the point. The coffee is on point! read more

I can't really speak to how "authentic" it is, but I can say it's definitely worth visiting at least once, especially if you're a local.

After being a regular at Parakeet for the last 6 years, I felt inclined to finally write a review, based purely on appreciation for the all-star team at this location (Kayla, Janelle, Neda, Hailey, Regina, Michelle, Calvin, and all the cooks crushing it in the kitchen daily) and everything they bring to the community. BIG VIBES & Customer Experience Biggest one on the checklist. The energy is always on point from the second I walk in to the second I leave. The entire staff is friendly, welcoming, authentic, and genuinely cares about making the experience top-tier. Also worth noting, they're up at 5 AM to open at 7 AM... which is already heroic. On top of that, this location gets its fair share of entitled, unfriendly, and straight-up rude customers (I've seen it firsthand on the daily). Even then, the ladies and Calvin handle it with patience, professionalism, and still keep the good energy going. That shit is not easy. Attention to Detail Regina and Hailey run a tight operation day to day. Their attention to detail and consistency is honestly unmatched. I've been to plenty of spots around the neighborhood, and no one has it as dialed in as they do. They are also better dressed than other managers in the biz. BIG STYLE POINTS Problem Solving I've watched this team navigate everything--broken equipment, unhappy customers, clogged toilets (lol), bad weather, and difficult delivery drivers yelling at them through Google Translate. And they handle it all without missing a beat and staying composed. Meanwhile, I've seen other places completely implode in similar situations--blaming each other or arguing instead of solving the problem. Not the case here. Always solution-oriented. Extra props to Janelle for unclogging the toilet and Kayla for chasing a grasshopper out the door when it jumped on a table. Yessahhh Consistency Food and drinks are always consistent--fresh, well-seasoned, proper temp, and clean presentation. The cooks are back there working hard but still somehow having a good time while pushing out orders for both dine-in and delivery. The girls and Calvin on bar are always crushing it. Espresso is never burnt, matcha is smooth (no clumpy, low-tier stuff), and the latte art is always on point. Shoutout to Neda, Hailey, Regina, and Calvin for keeping things fast and high quality. Cleanliness Everything is always clean, smells good, and actually put away where it belongs. No shakshuka stains on tables, no scone crumbs everywhere, no sticky coffee floors, no overflowing trash cans--things that, somehow, have become the norm at other nearby spots. All in all, I never leave reviews, so the fact that I'm writing this says something lol.
