The waitress was awesome, super quick and attentive. Our food was at our table less than 15 minutes after ordering. Everything was great, a perfect classic diner breakfast. My omelette and home fries were delicious, but ending with a chocolate chip pancake was my favorite part.

When…read moreyou have been out at the bars in Worcester and need a little something to absorb the alcohol ... and a plate of sausage, meatballs and pasta sounds like a good idea at 1 a.m. ... you come here. Ypu also get to see slme of the hardest working people on the planet navigate a small space while cooking for a packed restaurant. This is one of the few train car diners out there, popular in the 1930's and actuslly made near Worcester, these train car diners are a stalle of central Massachusetts. This isn't the New York or New Jersey style diner, its something uniquely its own New England setting. Its alwsys packed here. You'll be sitting elbow to elbow with boisterous and well lubricated club and bargoers on small yet surprisingly comfortabke stools at the counter ... or may be lucky enough to score one of the incredibly unckmfortable wooden booths, where the staff gets to watch 4 people attempt to navigate elbows and knees to eat their hangover saving food. The food here is not what you'd hope to get at any other restaurant. However, you can't knock it because the dry toast, rubbery omelettes and ketchup-like red sauce are one of the only options this late at night standing between you and a morning full of headache and sluggishness. Nothing you eat here will be good ... but it won't be bad either. Just as athletes and body buikders eat food as fuel, with little actual thought to the taste .. that's your mission here. This is a rite of passage for anyone who has lived in, or near, one of the worst small cities in the USA. Embrace and enjoy the tradition and the wonderfully vintahe interior, virtually unchanged with time since the 1930s ... 1990s ... and today. The only exception to that rule is that they mercifully started to take credit cards recently, making it a lot easier to make the call to walk through those rattling wooden doors at 2 a.m. still thinking about almost scoring at a bar.

Busy joint, tight seating, and energetic servers who keep attentive. -- Patty Melt: So much to like about this, from the marble rye (though I think pumpernickel) to the full size patty (better than the double smashed you get elsewhere) to the onions to the gooey melted cheese to the extreme juiciness and pleasing flavor. I didn't detect any Russian dressing, but this sandwich wasn't lacking for moistness or flavor oomph. A near-elite rendition and one of the best I've had in a while. Excellent. -- Fries: Included with the patty melt and a plentiful supply. The bad news: they're the dreaded industrial "coated" kind. The good news: they were piping hot and cooked perfectly, crisp outside, fluffy inside. The great news: you can substitute home fries. My server offered a sample of the home fries. -- Home Fries: I found them to be right in my wheelhouse for doneness, crispness, seasoning, onions, and overall texture and flavor. Superb. Between the good looking plates that passed by and my enjoyment of my own food on my first visit, there's sure to be a second. Looking forward to returning with my wife for breakfast and more of those home fries.

They have an ATM onsite, but was not working (most likely empty) when we were there. But I just drove down the street to a gas station and grabbed some cash. NBD. The food was super incredibly delicious. My wife had the chicken and waffles and I had corned beef (homemade, not canned) and eggs and toast. All was delicious and huge portions. Definitely returning for our next breakfast meal!

The ambience was truck stop dingy-and I was a little hesitant to be honest. The server got us coffee and had a great sense of humor and put smiles on our faces. Ordered French toast (made with raisin bread) and two eggs, corned beef hash and a house made English muffin. The winner for me was the corned beef hash! House made corned beef and shredded potatoes, cooked in such a way to have the perfect balance of crisp/soft texture. And the taste---heaven on a fork!! The other surprise hit - the house made English muffin! Delish! Sitting behind the grill and watching the chef work was a delight. The orders stacked up, and he kept 'em moving, and even delivered a few plates to customers. He never lost his cool, kept his voice low, was polite and gracious I to the servers and customers. Excellent all around!!!

Lots of counter stools and booths in 1950s pastel yellows and greens. My visit was a patty melt quest. They happily served it during the morning hours. The good: - Proper use of rye bread and onions - Proper buttering and griddling of the bread - Beef pink and juicy - Can substitute tots or hash browns for fries - Good flavors and mostly good textures The not-so-good: - Cheap beef with a clenched feel; a bit rubbery The cooking and overall presentation overcame the weakness of the beef ingredient to yield a tasty and pleasurable finished product. But the beef is noticeable as the weak link. Spicy hash browns were very good. Soft texture with some crispness too, and very enjoyable spiciness that didn't overpower. Decent coffee. Friendly service.

I got eggs, home fries, bacon, toast, and 1 pancake. There's a small parking lot and service was very friendly. I waited only a few minutes and my order was taken quickly. The eggs and toast were good. The bacon was okay - just normal bacon and not overly smoky. The home fries were also good. A little smaller portion, but they were cooked well. The pancake was super fluffy and tasted really yummy with the syrup. My only gripe was that it was cooked near or on something with garlic and parsley so about a third of it didn't get eaten. I went to bite into it and it was maple garlic town in my mouth and that threw me off. However, I was nearing on full anyway so I kind of was like eh it happens. I did let the server know before I headed out for future orders and stuff but I didn't want an extra pancake or anything since I ate a good bit of it. She was super nice about it as well. I got the check and left cash on the table. It was about $21 for the meal and 2 drinks. It's a cute little spot and I would go back probably just for the pancakes and the nice service.
