My husband and I visited this restaurant a week ago to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. We had a lot of recommendations to dine at this place, so we decided to try it out. The view was amazing. We were able to make it to the restaurant right before sunset. And to see the sunset there along with the Vatican in the distance was breathtaking. The weather was perfect as well. The things we weren't impressed with was the food and the timeliness of service. We waited about 30 mins. from the time we were finished with our appetizer to the time we had our entrée. Then finally after we received our entrees my husband's order, the seabass, was overcooked. He had to send it back two times. After the last try, he just ended up changing his order to the duck which turned out to be pretty good. But you don't expect to have to do that at a Michelin rated restaurant. Our dessert, soufflé, took a long time as well even though I gave our server over the 15 mins requested time for them to prepare it. We've eaten at many nice restaurants in Rome and Venice. 2 stars only for the view. Otherwise, completely lackluster food. I'm unsure how this received a Michelin star. I had the onion fondant soup to start(French onion soup). Honesty, I've had far better at pubs. This soup was soggy and the only saving grace was that it was slathered in cheese. Each bite tasted limp and bland. Then I ordered the ravioli and asparagus. Took over 30 minutes between the starter to receive this. Then when it was finally brought out I was astonished to find they were cold and seemed to have been thrown on the plate in haste. Again, one of the most bland and underwhelming dishes I've ever had. They did apologize for the long wait and removed the pasta from the bill but truthfully it was too little, too late. I had ordered a fairly $$ bottle of wine that never got poured unless I flagged someone down. Mind you, they had plenty of staff for the amount of customers. It's sad to write this because I love food, have worked in the restaurant business and genuinely love trying new places. Unfortunately, this place fell way short of expectations. Italy has so many gems and delicious food. I recommend this restaurant only if you want the view. Do not expect to be wowed by the food or service. read more

This restaurant was recommended to my husband and I by our hotel owner. He said the food was amazing and the view the best in Rome. I immediately hopped on the Internet and checked out the reviews. There were not a lot of reviews so we decided to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt. The view was amazing! The view was so nice that my husband and I convinced ourselves that we were paying for the view and not the food. Haha. The service was also top notch complete with a Sommelier. However all the awesomeness stopped with the ridiculous cost to amount of food ratio. The food was incredibly expensive, with the main dishes all being between 45-60 euro. You would think with those prices you would really be getting something? The small amount of food we received was great, but very small. I also spent 15 euro on a glass of Riesling, which we all know is way over priced. We are both willing to pay the prices we did for a nice dinner, but we were expecting a little more. We were both still hungry after leaving the restaurant. Overall the restaurant was meh; I am giving it three stars purely for the service and view. read more

Great dinner for our last day in Rome: nice view, sunset, great food, beautiful decor, dreamed wine list and amazing service. Bravo for the sommelier, he was the high light for me. And our Ecuatorian server was so cordial and attentive, congrats. Italian food with explosion of flavours, beautiful presentation. Located at a beautiful hotel, walking distance from Spanish steps, or easy to take taxi. Expect high prices, but worth it. Take a look from the "wine cava" when you have time. read more

We were very excited to eat at Mirabelle knowing that they have one of the best views of Roma. This view was nothing less than spectacular and proved to be one of the greatest sunsets we have seen. The service is top notch and the wait staff are highly organized and well run. The food however, not as good as promised. We don't mind spending a good deal of money when the food and drink equals it's value. This place is absurdly expensive. 28 Euro for a side of veggies? Those must be magic vegetables! I assume the wine list is wonderful for those with unlimited wealth but not for the common man. The portions were extremely small as you might expect in fine dining but the quality just wasn't there. If you just want decadent service, a drop dean view and over the top food. Stop in. Beer selection is outstanding. Truly one of the most relaxing lunches I had in two weeks in Europe. The selling point of this restaurant is clearly the great view and ambiance, but the food was very good compared to other similar restaurants I've been to. Usually when the view is so supreme, the food doesn't need to be so good, but it was surprisingly delicious. It is extremely pricey, of course, but if needed you don't have to order something for every course. And they also give you delicious bread and other amuse bouche before the meal which was actually my favorite part. I don't drink much so without the wine, it wasn't as crazy expensive as it could have been. Definitely worth it for a memorable and romantic meal. The staff was also very kind and gave me a nice fluffy blanket since I was a bit cold. Just one thing, it is quite old fashioned and have ladies menus with no prices (while giving the "man" the menu with prices), as it can often be at fancy European restaurants... They didn't have any reaction when I paid instead of my boyfriend, though, but maybe something to note for those of you who aren't into that kind of thing. read more

But that is because you are paying for FINE dining. This place is classy with absolutely high-quality, delicious food. The views are breathtaking. From beginning to end: The evening was simply perfect. I went with a friend to Mirabelle to enjoy the amazing roof top for the sunset with an outstanding dinner and yes, it was even better then expected. Ambience: All is so thoughtful, elegant and beautiful. The intereieur reminds me on the glam of the gold old times. The tables are beautifully placed, the chairs have a perfect hight and all ladies get an extra spot for their handbags. The candles give a soft light, the flowers are tastful and the bathroom stall was bigger then my entire hotel room. (in a different hotel) Food: Excellent and sooo much! I took the 7 course tasting menu, and after the 1st course, i felt full already. Each of these signiture dishes was amazing, the wine pairing was excellent. Service: 1a. So perfect. Racist. Plain and simple. We were a large party - 8 people. 7 Americans; and our friend who lives in Europe and works for the United Nations. She speaks 5 languages. When her office called to make a reservation a month in advance they asked, "Is she an Arab??" When the assistant said, "Why would you ask?" They blew it off. We decided to proceed with the reservation. When we arrived, there was a virtually empty dining room and terrace. But we were escorted to our table...in a very small side room. When we looked around the room (about 6 tables) all the women in the room were wearing a hajib. An Arab designated dining room. We asked the maitre'd about this and immediately he said, in a raised voice, "MADAM WE ARE NOT RACIST! I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR WHO YOU SPOKE TO ON TH PHONE!" Needless to say...we walked out. As my first michelin experience i must say that this place is astonishing. I picked it based off the view (which is jaw-droppingly stunning) but the food was just as impressive. I had the a la carte menu. The appetizer was the symphony of seafood which was just as delicious to the gustatory senses as it was on the eyes. The antipasta was not my favorite (but I may just have picked the wrong one) and the main dish which was the duck was fantastic. The service was top tier and watching the sunset in Rome enjoying this delicious meal was worth every penny (even for a penny picker as I). I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to have a special night in Roma. read more

Let me preface this: a travel agent booked the restaurant for my family and we decided against it but they would NOT let us cancel without 100 euro fee each (the restaurant was empty when we arrived, clearly unnecessary). I hate tomatoes and ordered a pasta on the menu with pesto sauce, mozzarella and urchin. The dish was served covered in tomatoes and tomato sauce. When I asked the server if it was what I ordered he said of course and did not understand why I didn't want it when it did not match the detailed description on the menu. Another of my party asked for olive oil with his bread, didn't bring it until asked 3 times. Good view? sure. Food? not good. DO NOT eat here. Bad service bad food bad prices. read more

Amazing view, extremely expensive restaurant. Taste was okay. Good service. I ordered a black squid risotto (crusty) and it was a flat bread by the size of my tiny hand, and tasted literally like a rice cake $45 Euros. I will not recommend this place to any of my friends. It's very unfortunate because the service was good, and view was amazing :( . Save yourself a few hundreds dollars by not going to this restaurant and buy yourself a very nice gift that you can remember and treasure for years to come. read more

Being from NY and traveling quite a bit, I've had lots of great food. This was so far from that. I *highly* recommend Pipero al Rex as an alternative. Pros: * Nice view * Good bread and olive oil Cons: * Food. It was bad. We decided to do the tasting menu and it was so beyond disappointing. The initial egg course with white truffles tasted so heavily of pungent cheese I could not even taste truffles. The foie was fine but way too much foie without something to cut the fat (tiny toast piece for an orange sized foie ball). The course of pigeon was fine. The course of pasta was also fine. The course of onion soup was not great. The veal cheek was terrible - very saucy and fatty - and then we cut our losses and just left so I can't comment on the desserts. * Price. Now again, I've had many expensive tasting menus but 150 Eur for this is just so overpriced. * Service. When we left mid-way through our meal leaving many courses barely eaten and not having been served our last two courses, they gave us the bill without taking anything off the total price. When I requested they remove the final courses we were never served they begrudgingly agreed to remove only 10% of the final bill. Overall. Let's see I had the risotto with nicotine and the duck le'orange...I mean ashtray. We checked in to this hotel and asked to make a reservation and were told we could dine at 10pm. Having been in Italy for two weeks we knew Italians ate late and decided we could use time to relax and then to get cleaned up and dressed for dinner. Upon arriving to the restaurant we were greeted hastily and left to see their "reservation book" with our names scribbled below all the lines in the "last minute" section. Then escorted to the table by the toilets. At this point I was still hopeful to enjoy another romantic meal with my husband. I ordered the onion soup (a strange gelatin consistency -the bowl so hot the server burnt his fingers) which tasted good. My husband loved the chefs interpretation of a caprese salad. Then came my risotto and his 'purse pasta' with a fabulous truffle sauce. Unfortunately at this point the entire restaurant became smoke filled. I kept looking around for the cigarette but found none. Apparently they decided to open the terrace and they allow smoking there. I could not finish my risotto. 80% of what we taste comes from smell. At this point, I could only taste ashtray. Hence the duck le'ashtray and we left without dessert as now I had to wash my hair yet again! For a country that seems so disgusted with Americans I find it odd that they emulate them with 80's American music in even the fine dining restaurants in Italy. If this is for us we would prefer to hear typical Italian music (if this exists). read more
