I recently ate here on a Wednesday evening for a book club. We were promptly greeted and sat at a nice table out on their patio area. They were having half off bottles of wine that evening which always goes well with our book club crew. The staff was friendly. The food was delicious with large portions. It's a casual restaurant in the neighborhood that is definitely worth trying. Our waiter split our checks for us which was really nice for our large group. This cute place was a recommendation from our friend living in Scottsdale and it didn't disappoint. I ordered a Bianco pizza with extra cheese and my partner ordered the pasta with vodka sauce. Both of these were simply outstanding. The pasta and sauce were wonderfully done and the pizza was exceptional. I usually prefer heavy, loaded pies, but this thin crust with just a hint of char was perfect. I would return and recommend this little gem in a heart beat. Another winner in Scottsdale. read more

Food was superb. We ordered Gnocchi which was obviously homemade in-house and it was scrumptious. Also an eggplant parm sandwich which came with a side Caesar salad. Portions were very generous. Prices are reasonable. Service was good. The pizzas looked amazing so we'll definitely try one soon. The only downside is that it is a small space and it was EXTREMELY LOUD. So loud that we almost left before ordering but I'm glad we stayed. Next time I may just order take-out from them but I doubt I'll go back for dine-in. Absolutely horrible pizza! I don't think I've ever had to throw pizza away but I threw my veggie (added chicken) pizza away. The dough was undercooked. Soggy. Inedible. The chicken was not good quality. The veggies were cold. Avoid this place. Maybe they are good on some days but to serve someone what I was served is completely unacceptable. Also, I guess the owner responded to this review about the modification I made, adding balsamic vinegar. That has nothing to do with undercooked crust, chicken and toppings. I've gotten plenty of pizza with balsamic vinegar added and they were edible and enjoyable. I received a refund without asking from DoorDash after explaining the quality issues. I'm not sure why ordering on DoorDash has anything to do with the quality. Low quality meat, served cold. Undercooked crust. The business is better off responding with care and concern for the customer, having a bad experience, or not at all. Tried this place with a few girlfriends and it's in the heart of Scottsdale, and has a bunch of great deals! We got the arancini which was super unique, it actually had peas in the middle, but the outside was super crisp and paired with a delicious marinara. We also had their poached pear salad which had a nice sweet dressing and delicious poached pears in them. We got the Diavola wood fired pizza, if you are a spicy food lover, you will love this. It had hot sopressata, sausage, Calabrian chilis, ricotta, basil, mozzarella and tomato sauce. It was a little too spicy for me but my friends loved it. Everything was so fresh and made to order, and last but not least DESSERT. We got the Tiramisu which was to die for. It was honestly the best tiramisu I've ever had. This was one of the most disrespectful experiences I've ever had at a restaurant. The bald, very thin male staff member with a long beard who was working the floor was incredibly unprofessional and rude. He was annoyed of me even ordering a meal and had a really harsh tone towards me for no reason.. From our table, we could clearly hear him speaking negatively about other customers, which made the entire environment uncomfortable and awkward. The food here is genuinely great, which makes this even more disappointing. But service like that ruins the experience. If this is who represents the front of house, management seriously needs to step in. Guests should never feel disrespected or hear staff talking badly about other customers while dining. read more

I visited IL Capo years ago and have always remembered this "pizza with a kick!" I feel like I've been chasing this taste for years and finally it hit me - it was IL Capo! My husband and I went to visit this last weekend (years later) and it was still just as memorable! Omg the food was so good and we cannot get over how delicious the Diavolo Pizza was/is! The pizza has a savory and spicy taste and is perfect for sharing with another dish. We also ordered gnocchi pasta with creamy mushrooms, also very nice savory dish. I won't necessarily go back for the pasta but I will continue to dream about this pizza. Perfect combo of cheese, protein, and flavors. Food is good, service was nice, just a bit slow - maybe a newer staff, they seemed to be a bit dysfunctional even though it was not very busy. Wow! Saw the chef on Good Morning Az on national cannoli day making cannolis. They looked delicious& I'm not a big fan of cannolis. My neighbor is & I told her I saw the chef on tv, so of course we had to go & get some. We have tried cannolis at 6 different restaurants previously& wow what a difference! I gave him a good tip because he was on his job. but my pizza sat in the window for over five minutes, getting cold. Then some expediter handed me my pizza after he'd been staring at me for 10 minutes. My coworkers and I came here for my birthday lunch. It was a beautiful Scottsdale day so we sat outside. The sun was at my back so excuse the shaded pics. (I have a suntan on the leg where my pants ended that was not under the table to prove it. Yikes!) The manager James is personable and our server Sam provided great service. It was crowded and he was hustling. The restaurant was empty because everyone took advantage of the comfortable weather. My Chopped Salad with chicken added was delicious. We ordered Garlic Knots for the table. One coworker had the Caprese Salad. Two each had a side Caesar salad. One also ordered a Calzone and took half home. Two shared a Fig & Prosciutto pizza. I enjoyed a sliced. I can't recall the pasta dish from my last worker. This lunch was a great kickoff to by birthday weekend. I had a slice of cheesecake to go. Some friends and I were heading back to our hotel and wanted to pick up some pizza. It was about 8:30 at night and most places, including Il Capo, closed at 9. I called ahead to make sure they would still have pizza and they said they absolutely did. When we got there they went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and said we could dine in and not to worry about staying a little past 9. Pesto pizza was good, several gelato flavors to choose from. Do not skip the Caesar salad, it is perfection. The dressing is made in house and it's the best Caesar I've had in Arizona. My wife and I wanted to try a new pizza place. We are pizza aficionados. I referenced the latest top pizza choices in the Phoenix New Times. It was published back in October of last year (2023). The combination of the recommendation by NT and good Happy Hour deals (HH info found online on IL Capo's website) sold us. Current HH is 2-6pm, Mon-Fri. Deals included drinks and food. $5 pints of State 48 beers, $5 wells, $3 off wines by the glass. $10 40oz pitchers of "local and domestic" beers, but all I saw was State 48 taps with 1 exception so it should just say that. I did see a Peroni tap, but that is neither local nor domestic. 8 different food options were at a reduced price during HH. We tried 4 options bc the prices were great! The Garlic Knots ($3.25 for 5 or 6, I forget), Crispy Ribs ($6 for 3 ribs), a meatball ($3.50 each), and a rice ball ($4 each). The knots had a lot of garlic and were a solid bread option overall. Ribs fell off the bone, tasty sauce. Meatball had good flavor, sauce was a lil salty but good. Riceball was best appetizer we had. Cooked perfectly, nice meat sauce and cheese inside a deep-fried ball. After that we ordered a pizza. We were so full we only had 1 slice each. But that was the plan anyway, take most of the pizza home for leftovers. We chose the Diavolo in the 18" NY style. At $27 it wasn't a terrible price for such a large pie and the amount of toppings did not disappoint. It was absolutely delicious! The hot sopressata and calabrian chilis were spicy good. Sausage was also well made, and the ricotta creamy. A real flavor explosion in each bite. The NT article noted that the large slices held up to the toppings, but that wasn't true. I didn't mind. The crust was great the way it was, a little floppy towards the tip of the slice. They also do 12" wood-fired pies and we may try one next visit. I would put IL Capo up there with the other great pizzas in Valley (Bianco, Parlor, Federal, Cibo, IL Bosco, to name a few of our favs). One discrepancy between the menu online and laminated in restaurant menu, involved the honey drizzle. The price of the Diavolo online is quoted as $27 plus $1 for honey drizzle. The in-house menu listed the pie as already having the drizzle, and cost would be $28. When we ordered, we asked about the drizzle and were assured it would just come on it as the print menu stated. The pizza arrived without the honey drizzle and we were charged the correct $27. The pie was delicious even without the honey, so we weren't mad. I'm just saying this issue should be cleared up and made consistent for ingredient and pricing between electronic and print menus. Overall a great spot for pizza and HH. We will definitely be back. And we'd probably go more often if it wasn't a bit of a drive for us that far up the 101 to Shea. Probably should of done more photos, but the 1 pizza pic will do! read more

I did have my lab with me. when I was at the door by the bar, they said I could get the pizza that was ready under the heat lamp. They pointed me to walk to the back. It was a dead weekday with 1 table occupied. As I was standing there waiting for someone to help me get the pizza they had ready, an older, bald headed male walked around and said rudely "we don't allow dogs in here!". Feels very New York bar/pub, not fancy kinda loud but the pizza! Ok, now I started with the Arancini and it was good but missed all the pulled mozz and sauce in the middle, it was hollow! When I mentioned it, as maybe I was wrong about it being inside and while it should've been there they didn't seem to care. So pizza is their thing, not service though they were friendly.
