Is it even a trip to ikea if you don't get the meatballs? Coming all the way from Tucson to furniture shop. The cafeteria area is always a stop before shopping. I always recommend Swedish meatball with the creamy gravy and very sweet but well complimented cranberry sauce it's literally heaven. Then afterwards it gets even better because you can shop for your home right after eating. No reason to shop and be hangry awhile shopping. It's like they thought of it all. The only complaint I have is that we were told they had a certain table top in stock. When looking for it with employee they found a product in a different row. When we mentioned to the worker the product codes didn't match. She then said they just placed it in the wrong spot and changed the papers even on the aisle and said it's okay and that it's correct table top we were looking for. Of course when we get home it was not the table top we were looking for. When in doubt just trust the numbers even if the employee said it's just misplacement. Pro tip call to make sure they have things in stock. We came from Tucson and we did not double check to make sure they had legs in stock. Also, they have last chance at the bottom floor on the right hand side before checking out. This is discounted items and sometimes they have some great steals! Ikea is usually my go-to when moving to a new city, something I've done 5 times in the past 5 years. Who doesn't love their affordable, modern furniture? In this case, I was really unimpressed with the Tempe location. The model rooms were very poorly put together and showed their products in very bad lights. A lot of the walls still had pencil markings used to align their hangings. Some of the drawers in one of the cabinets I was interested in were askew, and I was convinced to not buy that particular product! The food is dirt cheap, but you get what you pay for. The scrambled eggs are rubbery and somehow resemble Swiss cheese. When we came home, scorpions poured out of the boxes. One was dry and dead, the other was young and translucent. It was a horrific find. Unfortunately I won't be shopping here again and I hope others save themselves the trouble too. read more

I feel especially reluctant to do so because I've had so many great experiences, but haven't left a positive review yet. My bad. The reason for my one star is I feel it's the only way to grab attention to a serious issue. I just had what I think might be the least effective, backwards, weird customer service experience of my life. The people that take your information at the door for returns/ pickups are so nice. You give your info, wait around for your name to be called; it's efficient and a great approach to those social-distancing. My service agent, (employee name), was terribly rude from the start. I didn't matter, and she made it clear to me via her conversation with the agent next to her, she was overdue for her 4 p.m. lunch. I was there for a part that was missing from a dresser my husband bought yesterday. I explained I was running errands, and he asked that I stop by for the piece as he was halfway through assembly. I volunteered to stop in for the part. She asked for a receipt, which I didn't have as I had previously explained, I wasn't the one that purchased it. I was told there was nothing she could do without it. Okay, this is an Ikea issue then, not a (emoloyee) issue, right? So, my husband will meet me there with the receipt, but aren't we supposed to be distancing? Can't you look up the credit card used? It was then that I realized I was being treated like a thief. Like, I just wanted this one random part for a dresser at no charge. Turns out, it was possible to look up the card...Other things I was told: ***Pieces missing from a kit? That never happens. Am I sure? Look again. ***Which box was the piece in? (I provided a picture of the piece as depicted in the manual)...no, we need to know which box so we don't have to open all three (Shouldn't Ikea be telling me which box it is?) ***Okay, we can get it but you need to wait. (To which I asked "how long?" My answer? "A long time. It's a long wait." ...for the part she wasn't even sure existed a minute ago. ***Okay. I'll come back tomorrow for it. "No. You have to get it today. " I'm fired up. So fired up and I feel so foolish. Why do I shop here if I have to pay for the manufacturer's mistake, which we weren't even that upset over? It's cheap, reliable furniture that has never done us wrong. A missing piece? No biggie. Just help me, please. Nope, (employee) wasn't having it. I walked away near tears and asked for a manager. Thankfully the very person I asked identified himself as a manager, and he patiently listened, told me he understood, and that he'd set it aside for me to get tomorrow so I could meet my family for dinner. THIS is the five star Ikea experience I know. That said, I can't imagine I'm the first complaint she's had. This treatment felt very honed. I truly hope she is coached and that, if she's right and we should be treated as thieves if we don't have receipts (but have the card used for the purchase), that parts are never missing, that customers should know the origin box for the missing part, that waits are very long, and parts are same-day pickup only, well, that's on Ikea = one star, but I doubt much of it is truly an Ikea issue. IKEA is a maze and if you are on a time crunch and don't know how to navigate through it (aka me), you won't have a good time here. I was looking for a specific rug and I couldn't find ANYONE to help me for 15 minutes. Half of the maps didn't have a "you are here" sticker so I had to guess where I was / make my next move accordingly. I went to the rugs section but the item I was looking for ended up being a clearance item. They have a separate section for all discounted / clearance items - they're located in the "AS IS" section on the ground floor by the cash registers. I went to the As Is section and I didn't find what I was looking for. I didn't want to leave empty handed so I got a bunch of candy on my way out. They sell a bunch of snacks after the registers and I was able to pay at the bistro. If I had a free day to browse the warehouse then I wouldn't have minded spending some extra time here. If there were workers available for guidance I probably would have only spent about 15 minutes inside instead of 30. 2/5 stars because I like IKEA items and their food, but the customer survive was nonexistent yesterday. read more

I went up front and I talked to a lady who was sitting behind a glass. She came out and told me that they ask employees to grab a manager and that they give people masks or a "medical exception" bracelet. So I will not shop at IKEA, for anything. Wish I could do 0 stars just because my rights were infringed on.... I came to ikea tonight my family at about 630pm. My family had dinner and did some shopping. About 715-730 I was asked to leave the store for an unknown reason. When I asked the lady why she stated it's because I had a weapon. (Legal and safely holstered). I politely asked did the store have the correct sign posted as I didn't see it which is why I brought my hand gun in the store without question. She told me yes the sign is posted on all their doors. I apologized and quickly exited and just waited for my family as we were already in line to check out by this point. When I got outside I attempted to look for the A.R.S 4-229 sign but didn't see it. What I saw was the picture attached. This is not a legal sign in AZ as a sign prohibiting guns within a retailer has three rules to be compliant. 1. Be posted in a conspicuous location accessible to the general public and immediately adjacent to the liquor license posted on the licensed premises. 2. Contain a pictogram that shows a firearm within a red circle and a diagonal red line across the firearm. 3. Contain the words, "no firearms allowed pursuant to A.R.S. section 4-229". The last of these three were not met as you see the picture. About 2 minutes later while standing outside in the parking lot I was greeted by the same lady (along with another male) who asked me to leave... her purpose was to show me the sign to prove she was correct. She then asked me to leave the parking lot. This is the point where I then educated her that the sign was not compliant to A.R.S. 4-229 and their for not a validated/ legal sign ... and that she was wrong. I attempted to show her the code and she refused. IKEA needs to educate employees that nothing I did while in the store was illegal and if they don't want customers acting out their 2nd amendment and "Constitutional Carry" laws while in their establishment then IKEA should really post the correct and legal signs read more

Ikea never fails to provide 3 hours of "free" entertainment! Hard for me to get out of here under $100. Furniture is not my go to, as I don't live in Phx and hauling large items can be a challenge. I prefer the lower lever floor for all the kitchen items, lighting, décor and gadgets. They have a lot of fun holiday décor and wrapping papers starting around Halloween- definitely check it out! However all the furniture I have purchased here has been solid, albeit "cheap", Ikea was helpful in furnishing my first apartments with some staples like dressers and shelving. On my most recent visit my Aunt and I enjoyed a great healthy lunch. I had the smoked salmon salad and she had the shrimp toast. We went to Ikea to pick up a console table for our daughter. She had already purchased a dresser from Ikea, but had it shipped to her house. IKEA definitely knows how to market to people with making you walk into complete rooms and continue on room to room, basically to get you to walk through the whole store to get to check out and buy more things. I love Ikea and their products. However, I've always been disappointed in their instructions for their products. I've bought many items here over several years and their instructions are always awful. They are basically just pictures showing you what to do with no actual detailed instructions. I also think it's very inconvenient that they don't mark their display items or take their display items off showcase when they are out of stock. After spending an hour there the other day, 2 out of the 3 items that I wanted were out of stock. And there's no way for you to tell until you go down the necessary aisle searching for the item. Before moving west, my local IKEA was in Sunrise, FL and compared to that one, this location has a lot going for it. Even though I arrived 20 minutes after opening time, I was still able to find a pretty close parking spot, and there was not a long line in the cafeteria for lunch. Came for my once every 5 year visit. I think it's my last. It was so hot inside. Everyone in my group was feeling tired due to lack of air. The self checkout threw me over the edge. The machine keep saying I was making mistakes. If I'm making so many mistakes, then maybe you need more cashiers. The chicken fingers on my granddaughter's plate were dry. This is our sixth, or seventh IKEA and they are universally good. I agree with Laura L's observation... on there stuff being mostly particle board. But I'm sitting in my Cherry wood office at work and sadly, it's particle board too. It looks great, but it's particle board. LOL It is a sad statement on furniture in general. But, we still have our Bully book shelves from three moves ago and one of our kids is always needing something for their college apartment, or whatever. Mirrors, picture frames, plants, bedsheets for college and LAMPS... My addiction is their lighting and candles. Their florescence bulbs are less expensive than any other retailer and they never burnout. Some people stock 50lbs bags of rice in their basements, I stock florescence bulbs. LOL Sorry, family joke. For the first time I finally tried the IKEA cafe. This time it was a dinner. Everything is Swedish based. They cater to children and the cafe was like a school cafeteria where u grab your tray and put the cold items on your try while the hot items were served to you. Grabbed the cold chicken wrap, a Lingon berry box drink that was not cold, a side of Swedish meatballs, a side of veggie-balls. Right before the cash counter there were a few desserts. Picked up the speckled chocolate balls. Just under $15 for two of us. Cold chicken wrap: would def be good when it's microwaved. Luckily they do have a microwave! ~$8 Swedish meatballs: the normal meatballs about an inch in diameter with a light brown sauce. $1 additional Veggie meatballs: packed full of veggies and beans. Delicious sauce to go with it! To me this was way better than the normal Swedish balls but both are still great! $1 additional Lingon berry juice box: packed with sugar but yet so tasty! $? Sotsak Kakaoball (coconut chocolate balls): we're also sweet but yummy as well. It's like eating donut holes but better. $0.49 each. Btw, most of their cafe food can be found in the food area for sale to bring home cold and cooked for later. Would I come back again? Sure!! A bang for your buck if you have kids. This is an update and follow up to my previous review and 13 business days after I paid $10 fee for returning my items I have yet to receive a $64.00 plus tax refund to my cc. I just spoke with a representative who confirmed the returned items were received in their warehouse, but, she had to manually authorize and enter my refund and apologized saying it should post to my account in the next day or so. Had I not followed up now, I am not sure when, if ever, this refund would have been completed. IKEA needs to up their game, it you don't want to get frustrated, shop elsewhere. No matter how many times you go to Ikea, you will ALWAYS get lost! Decided to do an IKEA run and of course have some food, the obligatory Swedish Meatballs with a side salad to healthy it out some. Tons and tons of furniture and housewares for a great price, assembly is as easy as loading the actual furniture into your car! Was able to purchase a few items for my apartment and managed to make my way out in less than 3 hours, it was like an Escape the Room challenge - but more like Escape IKEA. They sell plants and food as well, if you happen to want to try spruce up your space or dare to try some unfamiliar Swedish goodies. Most items were in stock when I visited and check out lines were short. Do yourself a favor and get a Family Member card for good deals, coffee/tea at the cafe for free and for special event notices. read more

The $1.25 breakfast seemed appealing to my husband and he wanted to try it. I saw these cute looking Swedish desserts made with marzipan so I was curious about them so I picked one up. It is a cafeteria and you go threw a line just like you did at school. I didn't try any of the breakfast plate but to my eye the eggs seemed to have been cooked in a large batch in a steamer. The turkey sausage and potatoes didn't appear to be a fresh kind and had that certain frozen look to them like what you can find in your grocers freezer. You can see in my photo they look very processed. I go to try the little cake and have a taste of the frosting. Wow! it was terribly sweet and have a texture that was like liquid rubber with an awful after taste. So I peal some off and go for the inside. The cake tasted like something processed and a chemical fake raspberry taste was above it. I fear it had it had castoreum in it. If you don't know what castoreum is you possibly don't want to know what it is but you HAVE eaten some if you ever ate a Cadbury Cream Egg. A few things did look better than the breakfast like the tomato and cheese salad and the gravlax plates. If you are a fan of the meatballs you can buy them in the store in the frozen section. I rarely leave a bad review, but after spending TWO HOURS sitting in the IKEA parking lot waiting for a click and collect order that is supposedly "ready for pick up" according to the email that told us to come to the store to get it, I can't keep quiet about this terrible experience! I get that they recently reopened, but that is no excuse in this case. Our order was ready for pick up, and we drove over as instructed and checked in online as the signs instructed. If you are also social distancing like I am because I'm 38 weeks pregnant but need some things for the nursery, do yourself a favor and check in at home before you drive over. You can do it one of two ways: through this website v2.waitwhile.com/checkin/ikeatempe or by texting join to +1 (833) 429-0605. When we arrived we were 20th in line for picking up our order. Now, exactly 2 hours later we are 8th in line. How does it take two hours to hand out 12 "ready" orders to people? All you have to do is check their ID to the order info and let them take it. I can't say we won't buy anything this way again, because we'll still be social distancing with a newborn but you better believe we'll be checking in online at home before we waste another afternoon sitting in a parking lot in 103 degree heat. Going to IKEA is an adventure. After purchasing a wall of bookshelves, I now mostly go to purchase foods such as shrimp, meatballs, gravy, chocolate, cheese, seafood paste and so on. They regularly have special food events in their upstairs cafeteria. What fun. Presently, IKEA is advertising a winter holiday dinner on December 13th; the only issue is you must buy tickets in person. My first special food event was a Winter Harvest all you can eat crawfish event, which we stumbled upon after returning from a trip to NOLA through Phoenix international Airport. I guess it's popularity has grown. This last weekend all the 6pm meal slots were full and they only had 3pm dinner spots. For us in Tucson that means leaving at 1:30 to get there. They ofter a IKEA family program, which you sign up for in the lobby, which they gets you on an e-mail list giving you special deals and free cups of coffee. Lord knows you'll need it to make it though the entire place and keep your stamina this place is amazing! I would love to have a sleep over party there with my girlfriends and for the night we can pretend we live in the display areas and dine in those display dining rooms. read more

I am not sure why there are two listings for this IKEA. This is a good location, it is just like every other IKEA you have been to. There isn't a lot that I can say that has not been said, so I will give you my IKEA secrets. Go to http://IKEA.com and sign up for the family card to get discounts. You get free coffee and a free ice cream cone with this as well. You can look up products online ahead of time and get their aisle and bin number before you leave, print that out if you want to skip the showroom. You can also see what is in stock online at your locale IKEA. This helps incase you are looking for something specific. Wear comfortable shoes! Empty your car out and measure where you have room or plan to tie stuff to the top if you are going to buy anything large. Plan to be here ALL DAY! Plan to get ideas and take pictures perhaps. If you have kids, they will enjoy the kids center where you can check them in, get a pager and they are allowed to play in there for an hour. The pager will buzz if your kid needs you back sooner. When you start the showroom, grab a few big yellow bags. Walk the show room - it takes about an hour to do the whole thing without a lot of stopping, make sure to pick up anything you see that you want from the bins, you might not be able to find it again in the maze. Break for lunch! At the end of the showroom is a cafeteria, swedish coffee is great, I love the LOX and they usually have some good sweets. Then you will go downstairs and actually start shopping. The marketplace is about another hour and then you go into the warehouse where you get the larger stuff. If you are getting any larger stuff, make sure to grab a pallet cart.. you will need it. Stuff is boxed and heavy. If you buy anything that might have extra pieces, make sure you confirm what you need. A bed may have top bottom, slats, mid-beam and hardware all in different bins. You don't want to get home and realize you are missing a piece. If it's not there when you look, ASK. They will check the back for you. Want a deal - look in the AS IS section.. lots of good stuff there for discounted prices and usually someone else has already put it together for you. If you have a lot of smaller stuff, grab some blue bags as you check out. They are .59 cents each, but unless you want to carry a bunch of little items out.. they come in handy and are really re-usable. I always have a couple in my car. You will buy something you don't need. It's a given. But have fun and plan to leave tired! read more

When IKEA first opened, I spent a long time in there looking around everything. Now when I go there it's like a mission. I know exactly what I want and I can get in and get out. I might browse at a few extra things, but I try to do it as fast as possible. I go prepared. I have a list of the items I want to look at or get. I bring earplugs in case there are screaming children. Overall IKEA has some very nice things for your house. It is not always the most expensive quality, but it usually looks pretty good. read more

IKEAAAAAAAHHHH! That's how I talk about this store. It's an all day affair. Be sure to make a list of anything and everything you need before you go or you'll get sucked into the marketplace and end up with 4 cutting boards, a foldable backpack, 3 children books, and 12 variety of stuffed animal. Get some meatballs (or variety of other delicious meal) to energize the hour + walk you'll have. There are blue maps every so often with short cuts if you just need out! The prices are right, some things are too good to be true. Mattresses are one of them and make sure the furniture you choose is made from real wood, not pressed board. We have done that and have had furniture last for years now. Ikea Tempe doesn't have a parking structure like others do. So be prepared to walk in the heat and your car will be sweltering when you are done. Wife and I went to Tempe IKEA today to return an item. Associate (COLBY) met my wife and said he needed to get manager. When manager came over he was very nice and asked wife what he could do to help. She explained want she wanted to do then the associate chirped in "oh, we are not going to play telephone." Wife asked him what he meant by that. Apparently he was upset that wife was speaking to manager and not him. He kept smarting off to wife and would not shut his trap even though the manager asked him several times to stop. This little punk should be fired. I was not told about this incident until we were half way home as my wife knew I would have caused a scene. Clearly IKEA has some training issues. read more

Poor customer service trying to get refund from this place. Customer service reps need phone etiquette reviews. I like their selection but getting an online refund IS A BIG HASSLE. Good value? Yes. Does everyone shop on Saturday? Yes. 45 min just to check out? Might even be longer.... Like everyone, I love a good deal. But unless you want to spend half your Saturday here, avoid IKEA at all costs. Not all lanes were open to check out so that would've helped. The good news... the economy is doing well an people are shopping. Last tip... pay for the assembly of anything larger than a small table or bookcase. Otherwise expect to spend the remainder of your Saturday and Sunday (and maybe even Monday) putting all your good deals together. read more
