I don't remember this restaurant being this filthy. The floors were sticky. Most tables were not cleaned up. The soda and ice machines were not working. There was only water and coffee available. You grab a tray and get in line like you're getting school lunch. The Swedish meatballs are the star of the show. It's very good for what it is. My kids love eating here. I'd rather spend my money at the Costco food court lol. I only come here about once a year. It's a good place to eat after walking around the IKEA maze of furniture. As I waited I heard someone tell cashier they were out of mashed potatoes and substituted macaroni (which they were also out of when I got to front of line). The dessert case was empty and salad case limited to small side salad. Person in front of me said no peas but she put on his plate anyway and then brushed back into the food pan. That's when I noticed they were serving on PAPER PLATES! What??? Is this the new normal? I had a piece of toast (still partially frozen) meatballs and french fries (gravy on both please) and cold peas. In a nutshell; Went during a promo of 50%, honestly not quite sure why the rating's rather low, the food's awesome. Who would've taught putting a restaurant in a furniture store was a brilliant idea. It can get rather busy but theres plenty of seats and tables to go around. Not the biggest menu but what they do offer they make rather well. Do take note it's more of a cafeteria style of serving yet despite that it's really good quality food. The food isnt jam packed with sodium or any over powering flavoring. Some people may complain it's bland or that it doesnt have any taste, I think just aren't used to more subtle flavors. Light saltiness, light sweetness, theres other food options to add for other flavors yet food you can keep eating without immediately getting sick if you eat too much. I love IKEA and their food court! Whenever I visit, I always have to get their Swedish meatballs. This time I also got their chicken tenders and fries to try too. It was a little dry, but had enough seasoning. Right now they have a great deal for their loyalty members. Members can enjoy 50% off on all entrees on weekdays, but it ends soon on August 29th. The workers are very sweet and hard working. They keep the food stations clean and are constantly restocking food items and plates. The layout of the food court is easy to follow and organized. The people are wonderful here and there is PLENTY of seating. The restaurant is located on the 2nd story. They have anything from salads, cake, and their famous Swedish meatballs. They also have plant based meatballs as an option. Usually plates come with meatballs of your choosing, side of mashed potatoes with gravy and peas and that's what I ordered. My wife ordered the plant based. Overall, food is pretty bland, very simple and almost seems like no seasoning but it's not horrible. I used the bbq sauce they have to give the meatballs some more flavor. Just lack of flavor. We had always heard about IKEA and its cafeteria and finally got the chance to check it out while on a trip to visit family. The store was massive, but we found the restaurant right away on the second floor. We opted for the well-known Swedish Meatballs, Chicken Tenders, and a kids Mac & Cheese. Surprisingly, everything was pretty tasty. The amount of food was decent for the price and the fountain drinks were delicious!!! Unfortunately, a lot of the add-ons (desserts, salad, packaged drinks, etc.) were gone and apparently weren't going to be restocked so there weren't many options of food. Additionally, there was only one person serving a long line of people and it took quite a bit to get through. Overall, I would say it's a solid option of food if you need something while shopping, but I don't think I would go out of my way for it. read more

We came here couple of times and last 2 visits were the worst trips to this IKEA. The restaurant had worse food and customer service. Waited almost 20-min in the line and they change the menu. 5 it's from the menu selections disappeared. We had to be in West Sacramento to buy some wood at Home Depot. We decided to have lunch at the IKEA restaurant. We got there on a Sunday at around 12:30 p.m. There was a huge line for the cafeteria and it moved very slowly, first the slowdown was plating people's requested food, then the slowdown was at the cashier as there was only one. Selection of items is more limited than even the last time we were there a year and a half ago, and very much reduced from when I used to eat there regularly with friends or my book club. Most of the hot entrees are very starchy and not too healthy. I noticed an interesting salad in the cold case and decided to have it. I think it was called the Harvest Salad. It had baby kale, sweet potatoes, dried cranberries, edamame, pepitas, something yellow that may have been carrots, and sautéed onion. The possible carrot had a very strange consistency and no real flavor. I liked most of the other ingredients and it was a very healthy meal. My husband had the Swedish meatballs plate. Turns out it was 40% off for IKEA Family members, so quite the deal. There were plenty of empty tables despite the crowd. The line never let up the entire time we were there. For a quick, inexpensive meal, we will probably return the next time we are in the area. Hopefully the next time they won't be out of the chocolate cake. So it's been years since I've eaten at the IKEA restaurant. I want to say about 3 years ago. It was a great place, good food, decent drinks, good desserts, and GREAT coffee. Fast forward to 4/4/2026...my, my things have changed. I ordered the cod and my wife had the Swedish meatballs. What the heck were we eating! Food was bland and small portions. Fountain drink machine wasn't working so we were left to water and bottle juices (apple and orange). The only coffee choice was decaf. The service was also very slow, it took us 15 mins to reach the food service area and customer service was very "meh". This place literally sucks. If I'm hungry and I need to shop at IKEA, in rather go to the In & Out down the way. Booooo IKEA, so disappointed. read more

How incredibly Swedish of us. The one time we came here, a few years ago, the mighty Covid had the restaurant shut down. It appears everything is back to normal. They have a very spacious cafe and a slightly confusing ordering system. Based on the turnstile set up, they must get a lot of people. As most do, I went right after the Swedish meatballs plate. It also comes with mashed potatoes and a yummy Lingonberry jam. One of our friends ordered the marinated Salmon Wrap and another ordered the Garlic Lemon Cod. Both tasted fine. I would avoid the marinated salmon. It be rather nasty tasting. The restaurant is inside the store. The only free standing restaurant I know of is in London. You can come in just to eat, if you like. It's mostly self-serve, but the servers that are there are very helpful. The prices aren't high but the portions are small. read more

Cafeteria style food with a great selection and good prices, especially with the daily meal deals. My parents used to come here often when their senior living complex would bus the residents to IKEA, so I have good memories from 2016/2017. I haven't been back in almost four years so not much has changed except the prices and the mess. The servers are always nice to us, the cashiers are friendly & patient but overworked, the tables/dining/drink dispensers areas are a mess (it's SELF BUSSING PEOPLE!) but who's fault is that except those who eat there and the lack of adequate employees to clean? As for the food the meatballs are good as ever, I also tried the veggie and plant balls. I liked them all. Veggie medallions are yummy too. Never can go wrong with the Daim cake for dessert. Came here on a busy Tuesday around 6pm and I was surprised that everything I ordered was hot and fresh. This summer has a wonderful deal! At only $3.99 all hot plates every Tuesdays now until August 31, 2024. We ordered the Garlic Lemon Cod and Swedish Meatballs and both were excellent. Portions were great and the fish was still crunchy like it came straight out of the oven. Nothing was overcooked and I would definitely order this again. Bring the whole to Ikea and let them take care of the cooking during this heatwave, see you there! Consistency is very important for my snack places. Ikea never seems to disappoint. The trick is to get in line right when the fries and the chicken fingers come out of the fryer. I'll even go as far as to wait until I see them come out of the fryer before I come up to order. Lately I've been having them put gravy on the fries, now all I have to do is bring my own cheese curds and viola I have my own poutine. I know I've wrote disparaging comments about the value of chicken white meat but both Ikea and the other very popular chicken place seem to do a great job of cooking it, my pleasure. My friend said, "You can't go to Ikea and not get meatballs," so, we ended up in line for meatballs. The line was moving really slow, but I'm not sure if that might have been because a new person was being trained. I heard him ask, "Am I going too slow?" and someone responded, "No, you're doing great." The display cabinets were mostly out of food, which seemed kind of weird, as it was 3pm on a weekend, when the restaurant wouldn't be closing until 7pm. The ladies in front of us requested some items that were out, and someone brought a few plates out for them from the back. We shared meatballs, mashed potatoes, and a salad. Altogether, it came to about $7, which wasn't bad considering the amount of food. Right as we were about to order, someone brought out a bunch of new meatballs, and dumped them on top of the old ones. I know that's not how it's supposed to be done, but, we had no complaints, since we were served the fresh meatballs. The only thing missing was almond torte or marzipan/princess cake-- my favorite. But, like I said, they were out of virtually all of the desserts. "This is actually a really nice view of the freeway, and like, the sunset over the freeway." These iconic meatballs are soft, pillowy light texture without tasting heavy or dense, and simply seasoned. Every time I am at IKEA, I need to get my fix. If I am not in the mood for a full order, a side order of 4 will do. The meatballs also come in a veggie version. They have other menu items. They have entrees, sides, salads, sandwich wraps, and desserts. All the non-hot items are wrapped in plastic and placed in the self serve cabinets. The food is decent and priced at points not to break the bank when feeding the fam. 8 Swedish meatball plate is $8.99. It comes with a scoop of lingonberry,mashed potatoes, and side of vegetables. Two slices of garlic toast is $1.29. However the bread is toasted to a toothsome crouton level of toastiness. The desserts are priced ~$2. My go to desserts are the Apple strudel and the Diam almond torte. Delicious sugar overload. My fave dessert is the mini princess cake which I have not seen since pre-pandemic. If you are an IKEA rewards member. You get additional discounts. Current deals: an additional 15% off in the restaurant for July and August 2022. Every Wednesday is buy 2 adult entrees and get 2 kids entree for free. Check the website for deals and on how to sign up for the rewards program. However the cashier does not ask if you are an rewards member to apply these additional savings. Possibly having signage around the cafeteria about the program would help. read more

4 stars for the food but daaaang does the line here move slow. Fact #1 - It does not matter what time you come on the weekend, it WILL be busy. Fact #2 - You can't go to Ikea and not get meatballs. We stopped by the restaurant mid way through our shopping and the line was hella long!! it was like 2:30 PM - mid way between lunch and dinner yet everybody and their mommas wanted to eat. I don't blame them, cause same lol They only have one line. This is extremely inefficient. Other locations have multiple registers but this one only had one, which really held up the line. I find it interesting that you pass the dessert case first, and then get your main food last. My BF thinks its a sales tactic to get more food moved, but I think you get hot food last so it stays hot longer since the line takes forever. After the dessert is the other cold food, like wraps and salads. They look decent but I'll never know as I refuse to come to Ikea for salad lol So let's get to the good stuff - THE FOODS! I've never ordered anything other than the meatball plate. It comes with 8 meatballs, a scoop of peas, a scoop of mashed potatoes, and a dollop of lingonberry jelly. The jelly and meatball duo is iconic so don't be weird and not eat it. If you don't like peas, you can opt to sub for double mash or even fries. The peas are pretty basic, but I still go for it if I want a little green in my life. I think you can add 4 more meatballs for $1 as well. My sister decided to try the chicken tenders plate. It comes with fries and broccoli however they automatically gave us peas. She HATES peas so it would have been nice to have been informed first that they were out of broccoli, but whatevs. They give 3-4 huge tenders and a good amount of fries, however the fries are pretty meh. They're a little thick cut, like Burger King, and just not salted enough. I don't think they were as fresh as they could have been either. We also tried the vegetable medallion which is essentially a veggie patty. Do not skip on this! It doesn't look like much, but it has a creamy, onion taste. I think it's broccoli, potato, onions but don't quote me. Either way, give this a try. It's super delicate and pairs well with the meatballs! Ikea Family gets 15% off meals until mid Feb!! What a bargain! Also - you get a free hot drink (coffee/tea) each time you visit. You just grab a mug or glass cup at the register. If you get a glass cup, they'll ask you if its for water. If so, its free otherwise there's a charge for fountain drinks. The condiment selection was pretty basic but not well maintained. The ketchup was served in squeeze bottles but all were basically empty. The dispenser had BBQ sauce, but it's a diff version/taste than you're probably used to. They also had grape jelly looking packets which turned out to be ranch dressing lol I liked the BBQ sauce and ranch mixed together otherwise each condiment on its own was pretty meh. All in all, Ikea restaurants are worth a visit, especially since most people aren't shopping at Ikea every week. It's a nice treat and economically priced if you have a whole family to feed. It was my first time coming to IKEA to do some furniture shopping and man this place is like a maze lol. I've always heard about how IKEA has a very good food court and the selection has a wide variety of foods so I figured why not try it out. Not going to lie, I didn't expect much of this place since it was located in a furniture store but man was I wrong. I ended up getting what everyone raves on about, their Swedish meatballs and it did not disappoint at all. I didn't have very high expectations nor did I have low expectations but if I was in the area I would honestly come in just to eat here. The flavors were on point from the meatballs to the sauce. Very rich and savory. The fries were also very good. They have all the condiments you need as well. Food court is very clean and when you're finish you just put your tray into a cubicle like shelf and go on to shopping. Don't sleep on IKEAS food court, like i said if I was just in the area I would go in just to eat. All in all a solid 4/5. Clean food court, cafeteria like process, and overall just a good experience. I would give it a 5/5 but some tables were left with trays because people are too lazy to put their trays away and the workers really don't clean that up because it's not their job so I don't blame them. Some of their management decided that all food promos, like special discounts is for dine-in only, however there's no notes posted about this anywhere on IKEA website or in store. Kids must be present as they require now at West Sacramento location. Besides this you can't buy something in Cafeteria to go! They usually don't have forks, spoons or bags to put your food into. Ridiculous and stupid for IKEA. And that's the only IKEA which having that problem. Food management and store general managers are nuts if they believe that's the way to run a customer oriented business. Once again it's just stupid that food zones in West Sacramento store is usually dirty, ICEE beverages machines isn't working (no ice, just sweet colored liquid), coffee is not like coffee, no bags/boxed to buy food to go. It's not a grocery store, it's a restaurant and a cafeteria, you must have options for food to go. It's pretty clear that IKEA corporate is out of control of what's going on in the store. I have always been equally confused and intrigued by the concept of a restaurant inside of a furniture store... I mean its existence alone, not to mention its popularity and cult-like following. I have always been a fan of IKEA, in general. Cute, cheap furniture, and the fact that you have to assemble it yourself, like a big, adult puzzle. But, the restaurant... the restaurant, I have never been to, until now! They have VEGGIE BALLS! So, I decided, I'm buying a shelf, a coffee table, and some veggie balls. The line to get my veggie balls was cafeteria-style, and about 15 minutes deep. Those fifteen minutes of waiting in line was definitely a "twilight zone" moment for me. (Why are we all buying furniture and meatballs?!) So, I got my cheap ($3.99) veggie balls plate. It was served with a vegetable medley, including romanesco, some wild grains, and a curry-like gravy. The only thing that bummed me out was the gravy. I was really hoping for a more traditional Swedish Meatball Gravy. But, ultimately, I ate my veggie balls and they tasted like what $3.99 tastes like. Fine, but nothing fancy. I'm just oddly happy that they exist. My partner ordered his regular Swedish Meatballs and a side of Mac & Cheese. He said his meatball plate reminded him of Thanksgiving Dinner. And The Mac & Cheese is what you would expect from a Stouffer's frozen Mac & Cheese box. None of this review is an admonishment to what we were served. There is nothing wrong, in my opinion, with the flavor of Stouffer's Mac & Cheese. And when you are buying furniture, maybe this is truly all you need from your furniture restaurant. Nice little restaurant they have here inside the Ikea store with some delicious and very inexpensive meal options to satisfy any vegetarian or carnivore! Love their Swedish Meatballs in that delicious gravy! Today for a late lunch with my guy before browsing the store, I ordered their Salmon Filet with Lemon & Dill Sauce that comes with mixed veggies and a vegetable cake! Oh my goodness everything was delicious, the sauce had a great dill taste that paired nicely with the delicious salmon and was very creamy! The veggies had a nice texture and the vegetable cake taste similar to a potato pancake mm! To split for a nice treat we had their Chocolate Almond Torte which was very satisfyingly good, taste like a candy bar and it was rich! To drink I had a bottle of Naked Strawberry Banana and that was delicious as well! I'd highly recommend stopping by this restaurant, if you're like most of us Ikea shoppers, you could spend hours in here, so you're bound to get hungry lol! Even if we aren't coming in to shop at IKEA, my wife and I have been finding ourselves dropping the IKEA Restaurant more frequently. I constantly crave their meatballs so every time we have a chance to indulge, I force us to pull over! This past visit their special was meatballs with mashed potatoes and broccoli - of course, with their lingonberry sauce. That was a nice option since I wasn't in the mood for meatballs and pasta but per usual, I am always craving the meatball dish. 2 hour drive from Reno, NV to get furniture ideas and of course stop by their cafe for some Ikea signature meatballs. It was my boyfriends first time in a while going to Ikea and he has never tried their meatballs. We went during the morning time since it was a Saturday and It was Memorial Day weekend, going into the cafeteria it was somewhat busy but they were mainly just getting ready to change the meals from the breakfast to the lunch menus. First off... $2.99 for the Swedish breakfast that came with eggs, potatoes , sausage and bacon? Thats such a great price! Even their smaller breakfast was $1.99! By the time we got to our turn for the food , they have already switched to lunch and only were serving a limited supply of smaller breakfasts. Which was fine, because we honestly were looking to get the meatballs mainly. They had other options like the salmon plate , chicken tenders with fries, salmon salads and vegetable meatballs and of course they were all still at a good price. My boyfriend got the meatballs and this time I decided to get the salmon plate. The salmon plate was surprisingly really delicious especially with fresh squeeze lemon on top of the salmon. My boyfriend was also impressed with the meatballs but mainly it was because of the gravy on top of the meatballs. Overall, if you are like me from out of town shopping at Ikea and are looking for a bite to eat, definitely in my opinion try their food because their affordable and delicious! read more

When shopping at IKEA, taking a break at the restaurant is a must. Where else can you find several different types of meatball dishes (including veggie meatballs), mouthwatering desserts and several self-serve options for a low price? The salmon balls, which were new since the last time I'd been to IKEA, were good, covered with a coconut curry sauce and paired with mashed potatoes and green beans. The dish filled me up and was $4.99, which I thought was a good value, even though the wilted, stringy and brownish green beans were far from the what the bright, properly-cooked green beans on the menu looked like. I couldn't finish the green beans, and should have gone back to ask if they had a fresh batch of beans that were actually green. Normally, though, the veggies are cooked well, so that is why my rating is a solid 4 stars. They also had veggie balls and Swedish meatballs as well as a chicken wrap but must have either been understaffed on my last visit or underprepared because there was just 1 plate of dessert (some sort of cake) in the self-serve area, which was disappointing since I usually love checking out the desserts including the chocolate cake. Usually there are at least a few selections of everything in the self-serve part of the line, however, so I'm not going to punish them with a low rating. There is plenty of seating and if you're an IKEA family member, coffee is free, at least according to an email I received a few weeks ago. If you come with expectations of a filling cafeteria-style meal, you should leave satisfied and ready to finish your shopping or perhaps go downstairs to grab an ice cream sundae at their quick-serve food spot. read more
