I have used them for home office set up, start up business furnishing, bedroom, family room and kitchen furniture. Absolutely love this place. The folks we have worked with have been there since we started going there as well, so I think this tells you a lot about the company as well. Overall I appreciate their furniture, but my primary gripe is that most of the furniture sits way too low. It's so hard to get out of a low slung sofa or chair. The Italians tend to design this way too which is a bummer because I like the simple lines of most European made goods. Definitely the quality is 4 -5 stars, I believe there furniture is made well. The best think about the Santa Rosa location is the discount warehouse, decent bargains can be found. Furniture these days is mostly online if you want a real choice of pieces. I bought the Bolig bed for a condo in the desert and on Black Friday the same bed was on sale at 1/3 off! So I used this amazing opportunity to remodel our bedroom at home. No need to go in, I just called in the order over the phone. A very friendly sales rep took the order and make sure all my questions were answered. For a mere $99 Scandnavian Designs delivers and sets up the bed. Done. Then when the day came, the delivery guy was so helpful, cheerfull and just a great person to meet. Have purchased several pieces of large office furniture and a home sofa here over the past 12 years. It's a giant warehouse. Feels cavernous. Certainly 3 to 5 times larger than the store in central San Rafael. Is the furniture quality outstanding? No. Have my pieces of office furniture withstood the test of time maintaining good looks? No as well. The surfaces both horizontal and vertical look dull. Got to keep in mind that this wood furniture is very thin veneer on MDF (medium density fiberboard). That's what quality hard wood furniture makers would call "junk". I no longer own the sofa, it started to look really rumpled after just 4 years of light service. But I bought all the stuff when on deeply discounted sale. If the items you desire are marked down 50% or more, then you may get adequate value. read more

I had the absolute WORST experience with the Santa Rosa, CA store this past weekend. Will never use this store again and will tell everyone I know to never go to this store. We had purchased a chair in the clearance section in December 2022 - and had a sales team member (who shall go unnamed) come over to the clearance section with us as we told her which we wanted. They only deliver to our area once a month - as we were just moving into a new home (finally home owners!). So we decided to rent a Haul ourselves (which was a cost of course) and drive the hour + to pick up the chair and a few other items. We brought it home and opened it up, and it is not the chair we had shown the sales associate and that she intern ordered for us (never once did she ask like she didn't know which chair we showed her). When we called them, the sales associate acted like it was our fault she ordered the wrong one and kept telling us that the chair we wanted was XX amount $$ more. That was not the point. The point was we were given the wrong chair and were told it was our fault. When asked for a manager, was told there was not one there. Not once was a solution brought forward. We received a call and voicemail on Monday (today) from the manager, and were told they can pick up the wrong chair and give us a discount on the chair we wanted (but that the original chair we wanted that was on clearance ha since been sold). This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Never go there. Also, the warehouse team was the worst - 2 gentlemen that were the most unhelpful people I have come across. read more

I was in need for new furniture as I had moved to a new home. I was shopping around town at various furniture stores but could not find anything to my liking. Then I got on Amazon to see if there's anything good there, nothing that I can trust. To my desperate searches, I thought of Scandinavian design store as I bought a dining set 20 years ago. So I went there and found a plethora of good selections they have with simplistic designs absolutely to my taste. I needed a dresser, a coffee table and dining chairs. Magaly at the Santa Rosa branch was the one that helped me select the pieces that I like. She was so patient as I'm not an easy customer, she spent a tremendous amount of time to search for my particular style of furniture, I preferred the mid century modern furniture and she found quite a selection for me and the price is reasonable. If you are looking to buy furniture, don't waste your time elsewhere, go to Scandinavian Design store in Santa Rosa if you're in the north bay, their customer service is outstanding overall including delivery service. I highly recommend this marvellous furniture store and it's dedicated employees. read more

We have purchased a dining room table, dining chairs, a sofa bed, two twin beds, two nightstands, and another smaller dining table from this place. We've had mixed experiences but seem to gravitate back toward the store due to the relatively affordable prices, the convenience of purchasing furniture in town, and of course supporting a local business that employs people from our community. The dining table was awesome. The chairs self destructed over the course of a few years but were easily replaced. However, the beds were a disaster. When we ordered them, it was at a time when money was pretty tight for us but we wanted our children to have decent beds. I paid extra to have them assembled given that they looked a bit complicated. The beds were delivered and not assembled, despite the fact that I paid for the assembly. The delivery guys told my husband he could take care of the assembly and departed. When I called the store, especially stressed because we were getting our house ready for a family birthday party that day and I had planned that the beds would be set up and used, I was connected with a warehouse employee who told me the beds weren't that hard to assemble and he'd answer my questions over the phone if I got stuck. I'm a semi-pro at assembling IKEA furniture so I accepted the challenge. But the instructions sucked, the beds were complicated, and it did not go well. Coaching from the phone wasn't helpful. Eventually, I got them put together but they never did work right (the wood slats under the box springs kept breaking loose from the plastic fitting so the box spring would sit crooked). I can take credit for assembling the beds myself but each time I'd wrestle a slat back into place to fix a sagging bed, I'd remember the disappointing customer service experienced with Scandinavian Designs and feel bad. Fast forward five years, and I bought a sofa bed to replace one of the disintegrating twin beds. This thing is awesome! We've moved it around a bit and I've taken the legs off in order to get it through doorways and this piece is durable, great looking, and aging well after a few years. So, buoyed by our success with the sofa bed, we visited the Santa Rosa store last year and purchased a small glass top table for our kitchen nook. I assembled it myself, it was easy, and it looked great! When it was time to do some home renovations, we moved the small table into our living room. Somehow, the glass top's connection to the heavy metal base got messed up and now the glass top wobbles profoundly when touched. I read the positive reviews about the great customer service other folks had received from this store, so I called the store to discuss the issue. I asked whether I could get another copy of the assembly instructions, figuring I could do some self help. After emailing a photo of the table to the store, I was told that the company can't locate the instructions but that someone from the warehouse would call me to assist. Four days passed with no call. I reached out again, and received a call shortly after. The friendly warehouse guy told me to turn the table upside down and tighten it from the bottom. We did this and it just doesn't work because the table leg won't stabilize. I emailed the store requesting additional assistance and now two more days have passed with no response. Most of this stuff is pretty normal with customer service, but frustrating. When things go well, they go really well and when they go bad (when stuff isn't assembled despite a few being paid, when a customer needs advice about how to repair/stabilize a fairly new item) this store team seems to struggle. In my earlier years shopping at this company, I always felt slightly unwelcome due to my old shoes and untamed hair and general conditions associated with having limited funds and small children. Over the past decade as my kids have gotten older and fortunes have improved, I can finally afford to purchase furniture. However, based on the recent poor experiences trying to get help fixing our small table, I have serious reservations about buying anything from Scandinavian Designs again. read more

We purchased a bookcase some years ago at SD in Santa Rosa. Over the passage of time and our stupidity (we put too much weight on the shelving) the shelve pin supports had lost its support and had bent or cracked beyond repair. I contacted CARL MORRROW in the warehouse to see if he, by any chance, knew where I could locate replacement shelving support pieces. Instead of sending me on my way, he said if you give me a few minutes let me see what I have in my storage area of odds and ends. Carl soon appeared with just exactly what I needed. Thanks Carl! And we found it at Santa Rosa SD, and Concord. Two wonderful recliners and a high top table and two adjustable chairs, all leather and a glass topped table. this is a great store with friendly staff who gives you your space and sells you some decent products. I can't say all of the furniture made here is the sturdiest of products but the designs are definitely cool. I don't want to compare it to the other well-known Scandinavian powerhouse because it's not, but with that being said you can probably find half of those designs and get a pack of meatballs for the same price. When I received the absolutely worst customer service at the Scandinavian Design in Berkeley, it was pure luck I was able to talk to Mary Ann in Santa Rosa. The rep in Berkeley was rude, ignored me, & wasn't afraid to hide she wasn't interested in helping me. On the other hand, Mary Ann stayed on the phone with me until I was finished, took the time to text me pics of suggestions, and couldn't have been friendlier. Don't waste your time going to Berkeley, even if Santa Rosa is twice as far! That is, if you want the most fantastic customer service! I know I'LL be driving the 2 hours round trip. Man what an disappointing shopping experience. Came in looking to furnish an entire new home. Three employees who were not helping anyone at the time just stared as we walked in. Walked the entire store , taking photos , discussing what we liked (brought a friend for a second opinion) and literally not one employee said a word to us.
