Clam Chowder in a sour dough bread bowl, Delicious!
    Sonia H.

Stopped by for lunch on a rainy cold day. Was greeted right away by the friendly staff. Only one thing is good for a cold rainy day, the Clam Chowder in a bread bowl! Boudin's clam chowder in a sourdough bowl is pure San Francisco comfort food. The chowder is rich and creamy without being heavy, packed with tender clams and perfectly cooked potatoes,ñ. Every spoonful feels warm and satisfying, especially on a cold rainy day. The real star, though, is the iconic sourdough bowl. The bread has that signature Boudin tangy chew with a crisp crust that holds up beautifully against the clam chowder. As you eat, the bread soaks up the soup, making the last bites even better than the first. It's classic, nostalgic, and absolutely worth it.

I came in for a quick meal, and the free monthly bread loaf ( free every month with a prior purchase), but they were out of the loaf. I ordered the fries with garlic seasoning and sea salt, and a turkey and cheese sandwich on grilled bread, and paid additional for a loaf of bread. The ordering process was pretty slow, and had little initiative in confirming your order, so I'm guessing the ordering clerk may be new, and allowed some grace. The fries were nice and hot but underwhelming, no garlic flavor or salt til you got to the last five, and small for the $5+ price. The sandwich did not have cheese, and the bread was not toasted as requested, but the turkey was very fresh and was good. I haven't tried the bread yet, but I dropped it because she didn't put the bread in the right size bag to keep it from tearing. The food prep is usually pretty accurate so I'll have to give it a pass. It was a longer wait than usual. During the holiday season, I would suggest to give yourself plenty of time, and allow longer wait times.

The review is based on take-out experience. Thanks to Cass N. for sharing the BOGO week on salads. I placed my orders on line, head to Boudin and the order was ready for pick-up. It was pretty smooth except they forgot my soup. Good thing is that I discovered it before I left. She was apologetic about it. NBD - double check your orders. Tip: There was a long line when I got there and I didn't see a separate line/area for Online/Take-out orders. I went up to the counter and asked one of the workers. My order was sitting on the counter. So, don't stand on line. I got the Asian Citrus Salad and Little Gem Cobb. Both salads was great with fresh ingredients. Good portion. The fries was just okay, not the best I had. The add-on soup was tiny, not worth the $6. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall, a nice place to grab a simple lunch and soup spot. I think I'll make an effort to dine in one day. It looks spacious and clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I

Decided to change things up for lunch and come to Boudin SF. We always visit when in SF but I haven't been to this location before. I ordered online for pick up and when I arrived 15 minutes later it was packed and ready to go. The Cobb salad was surprisingly large, I did ask for extra dressing in the notes section of the online order form but they did not honor that request. I do highly recommend getting extra dressing tho as the tiny container they give is definitely not enough for the size of the salad. I also wish they offered blue cheese dressing, as the closest they had was ranch which I'm honestly not a huge fan of. The clam chowder was full of clam pieces and not a single one was chewy or grainy. The broth though was a tad watery and could be thicker IMO. Overall, was a nice change of my regular lunch spot and will be in the forefront again for my lunch rotation.

Was so happy to see that Boudin put the Crab Mac and Cheese back on the menu... I've been waiting for like ever... When I saw it was back I ran right in and ordered it first off it's now $19 (inflation) I guess and it comes in bowl 1/2 the size it once was. The old crab Mac and cheese was more of a bake and was so delicious with a garlic butter type sauce and was always piping hot.. Was the absolute best thing to eat on a cold night... The new one left a lot to be desired it tasted like velveta shells and cheese with canned crab thrown on it.. looks like all good things must come to an end. Service was amazing though and the chocolate chip cookies never dissapoint. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Restaurant is always clean and clear of clutter, always smells good and appears to be ADA complaint[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I had an appointment near by and it was lunch time so thought I'd stop in because I've heard good things about Boudin SF. I asked the nice lady taking my order for recommendations and she recommended the mission street fries. We also got a caprese sandwich and a Margherita Pizza. Everything was good. Not super delicious to the point where you keep craving the food afterwards and can't wait go back. Unfortunately. Just good.

First time visiting this location. Was in the area and what is better than picking up a free loaf and having a clam chowder bowl. If anyone that comes here isn't a part of their club. Why aren't you? Free loaf a bread. We always get the clown chowder bread bowl. Boudin you always know what to expect because they are always pretty consistent in quality and what you get. I really wish they would warm up the bread and toast it a little bit. I might ask if they can do it next time. I will say that eating there that the clam chowder is a lot better than their canned version. Chowder had plenty of meat and tasted great. They have fresh black pepper grinders upon request which is awesome. I would definitely come here more if there was a closer location.

I usually come to this location earlier in the day. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I stopped by this evening and it was so much more pleasant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Lots of young adults working and all very helpful and smiling. We ordered clam chowder and chilli to warm up from the cold weather. Got my free reward loaf of sliced sourdough too!

Cup of squash soup topped with nuts and cranberries

I was surprised to see two menu items with Dungeness crab and both under $20!!! I decided to try the Dungeness Crab Louie! I also had the butternut squash soup. The soup had some walnuts and cranberries on top of the creamy, favorable soup. It was a delicious start to my lunch. The Crab Louie was so good! There was a generous amount of crab, a whole boiled egg, a generous amount of avocado (looked like half), plenty of cherry tomatoes, crispy, fresh romaine, and Louie dressing. A sourdough roll topped it off. I was very impressed with not only the quality of the ingredients but the freshness of everything and all for an unexpected price! Dining out has become so expensive with food costs and increased wages for servers, etc. These added costs have given me pause when tipping. If servers are now being paid a more reasonable wage and food costs have trebled at some restaurants, I am reluctant and even beginning to balk at giving 20% of my purchase. It appears that this restaurant may have considered that as well. I say that because the "suggested tip" amounts include a 10% suggestion. I really appreciate that. Service was good and the atmosphere was inviting. I also walked away with a loaf of sourdough bread because I belong to the rewards program! I will definitely return soon to try the other Dungeness crab offering before it leaves the menu.

Walking in, the line was short but the staff took a really long time servicing people. Since it's a 2hr drive from SF to Sac, you know I'm about to bulk buy. Almond Croissant $7.50 - I don't remember what this tasted like so it must've been standard. Matcha Croissant $9 - Don't let the price deter you because for $9, you get a big filling croissant and it was honestly so delicious. The dipped part was like a white chocolate matcha and the inside matcha filling was so good. I don't know how but I fridged it and ate it the next day, IT WAS STILL CRISPY! This was the highlight and highly recommend getting it. Blueberry Choux $11 - This was also really good too. The blueberry filling was creamy and delicious. It tasted really fresh. Macarons $2.95 each - Standard stuff. I got a Thai coconut cream and this is a flavor I haven't seen before and recommend trying it! In summary, highly recommend trying this place. The ordering process was smooth, and the décor is gorgeous, making it a really inviting place to spend some time. I enjoyed the bakery so much that I came back a week later to try lunch. Unfortunately, that's where things took a turn. I ordered the burger, and someone in my party had the salmon burger. Both were incredibly bland. It honestly tasted like no salt or seasoning had been added at all. If you prefer very lightly seasoned food, this might be right up your alley, but it just wasn't for me. The iced tea also comes unsweetened, so keep that in mind if you're expecting sweet tea. One small thing that could also be improved is the ordering setup. There are separate lines for the bakery and the kitchen, but when it gets busy it can be a little confusing--especially since you order first and then find a seat. Overall, I'd absolutely return for the pastries, cakes, and drinks. The bakery side is outstanding. As for lunch, though, it left me wanting a lot more flavor.

While picking up my boyfriend was recommended the cinnamon roll and he caved and got it! We had our pickup time at 7:30, but we showed up a little early and got our food around 7:20. There was a bit of a wait since there were some people ahead of us, so I'd recommend you going a bit earlier than your time just in case you're in a rush. We headed home to try everything. We really enjoyed the biscuits themselves as they didn't leave a dry or grainy feeling in your mouth. They had a good crust while being airy and light inside. The sandwiches were good, but they were anything crazy. Size wise it is small for the price you get, but I get it. It's all house made and fresh. We definitely think the biscuits themselves are the standout. The blueberry and brown sugar biscuits were a sweet tooth's heaven. The cinnamon roll wasn't too sweet either and had great texture and basically melted in your mouth. I never knew about midtown bakery before midtown biscuits so I would definitely come back to check out their other items, while getting those biscuits!

This was my first visit to Paris Baguette, and I'd definitely come back!…read more We ordered two medium iced vanilla lattes along with the hash brown bread with ham and cheese, an almond pain au chocolat, and the very berry pastry. The iced vanilla lattes were really good. The pastries were the highlight. The almond pain au chocolat was perfectly flaky, and the filling was absolutely delicious. The very berry pastry was my favorite. The cream was light, fresh, and had just the right amount of sweetness, and the fruit on top tasted fresh and sweet. The hash brown bread with ham and cheese was very dense and filling, making it a great savory option. I loved the self-serve pastry setup and appreciated how large the bakery selection was. While some items looked a little fresher than others, there was still plenty to choose from, and everything we picked was delicious. The bakery itself was very clean with plenty of comfortable seating, and I noticed they even offer WiFi, making it a nice place to work, catch up with someone, or just enjoy a coffee. It was fairly busy and a little noisy, but there were still plenty of open seats. Parking was also easy thanks to the large parking lot. The only downside was the service. The staff wasn't unfriendly, but they also weren't especially welcoming. I also had trouble hearing the employee calling out completed drinks, so I ended up waiting around 10 minutes. It's possible our coffees were ready sooner, but I didn't want to crowd the pickup area. Our total came to about $30 for two coffees and three pastries, which felt reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. Overall, this was a great first experience, and I'd definitely stop by again the next time I'm craving a coffee and pastry.

The selection was very good and offered a great variety of both sweet and savory items…read more My main issue was with the savory items. I asked an employee to toast them, and she said she did. However, when I bit into my croquette and garlic frank, they were still cold inside. Since I had requested them to be toasted, I expected them to be warm all the way through. I called the store afterward to ask what their standard procedure for toasting items is. The employee I spoke with told me that it "just depends on the worker and how they toast it." That response didn't make sense to me. I would expect there to be a consistent standard for preparing food, especially when a customer specifically requests it to be toasted. the attitude I received came across as very much "I don't care,"
