Avoid. I ordered a 900$ wall cabinet entertainment system plus their "convenient" home assembly service. Emptied out my living room the day before. They delivered all the boxes, and then said that they had no order for home assembly. I showed them my receipt, they smiled and said that they could probably organize someone to come assemble it for us. Next week! Meanwhile 4 hours on the phone later and haven't gotten anywhere. My building is fining me 100$ for every day the boxes sit in the hallway. I have small children so I can't put a pile of boxes inside, they will climb all over them and hurt themselves. Way to go Ikea. Cost me way more to fix the mess you created than the products are worth. Your employees never bothered to tell the shipping people that an assembly was requested and paid for. I went to Ikea during their kitchen sale and had some assistance designing my kitchen and also a pantry wall. I purchased 3 of the Ikea Sektion cabinets with multiple drawers and shelving. I thought it was a simple process using the kitchen planner. I decided to go with the pantry design first and figured if it worked out, I would use my kitchen design at the next Kitchen sale. All parts were ordered and delivery was set. This is where you will see everything fall apart. The trucking company,is called Twins Trucking, dispatched by National American Logistics, who works with Ikea as their delivery service. First of all, my order was completely wrong. I didn't even receive the correct size cabinets. I ordered 2 x 30 inch cabinets and one 24 inch, mistakenly, as well. They offered to take the one 24 inch cabinet back for me. I agreed to it since it would be too long to fit into a vehicle to return myself. How this process works is that the guys just dump this stuff in your living room and stand over you pressuring you to sign a paper that acknowledges receipt of the items. Meanwhile, you're trying to count over 80+ items. It was just not reasonable to expect this. They left and I noticed that they did not give me any of the cabinets, including the 30 inch cabinets! I also got multiple items with 2 different customer's name and addresses and was also missing many items from my order (adding up to over 30 items like hinges, shelves, etc). I left right away to the Paramus store, hoping to speak to someone and also order the other size of cabinetry that I needed for my project. They agreed to resend the missing cabinets but made me pay another delivery fee for the replacement cabinet. They came the next day. They dropped off 3 cabinets of the size I DIDN'T want. I thought they were the 30 inch. When I measured them, it was the wrong size. The delivery guys refused to take them back. I was contacted by Adriana Baron, a Customer Resolution Specialist about the refund. When I told her what was missing, she advised me to do an complete inventory which was extremely time consuming and irritating. She assured me that they would pick up the incorrectly sent items as well as provide me with the correct items that were missing in the order. Since Traemand, the Ikea installers, were coming on Thursday and my only day off was Tuesday to get a delivery, I asked her about a guarantee of some sort so I could be assured that I would have everything ready for the contractor. Adriana told me that they had a triple check system for loading the truck and that I signed the paperwork that I received the items. In other words, I was at fault since I signed the paperwork. I responded that she should go over that meticulous policy for loading the truck to Mark B in Ryebrook, NY and Tatyana F, in Rockland, NY who's items I had in my home. She then cancelled everything, even though I told her I would have to wait to confirm that Traemand services would cancel the contractor and refund my deposit. She also said that she would not tolerate disrespect from me. Are you really going to tell that to a customer who you made do a complete inventory of over 100 items and sent a truckload of incorrect items to? I find it hard to believe that Adriana Baron works in Customer Resolution. The very thought is laughable as she is not personable, very obnoxious and unpleasant to people who have spent thousands of dollars at Ikea. I am still waiting to see if they will pick up everything and give me a refund. I contacted Traemand services and the person I spoke with was very kind and empathetic. She said she would allow me to cancel my deposit given all the hassle Ikea had given me. I am not sure if this shady lady, Adriana, at this particular Swedish operation will do the right thing. I will update my review accordingly when or if things are resolved. I advise you to not do your kitchen or anything requiring their delivery service. Save yourself from this migraine waiting to happen. I have a very deep sense of regret wasting so much time going back and forth all the way to NJ because Ikea Paramus management does not care about customer satisfaction. Worst In-Store experience! I placed an click to collect order online, selected Paramus,NJ at pickup and rcvd a confirmation email reflecting the same. Somehow the order was processed in a Pennsylvania store. It took 4 visits for us to figure out what happened. On my last visit I asked that they either issue me a refund or honor the price I paid. I was told there was nothing they could do. So I asked to speak to the manager. Kathleen is the most appealing manager I've encountered in my life! She approached me with an attitude, didn't ask me what happened or even try to act like she wanted to help. After I explained she told me it was my problem cause I sent it to the wrong store so I need to figure it out. I tried to explain that I thought it might've been a computer error, but she assured me it must've been my fault cause that has never happened before and walked away from me. While exiting the store I overheard her chuckling with her subordinates and called me stupid. Ikea should be ashamed to have an employee like Kathleen, let alone have someone so unprofessional in management. I myself am a manager for a large distributor- we don't tolerate that type of behavior from our employees and leaders. I ordered a kitchen. I sat through three planning sessions. picked cabinets that were back ordered but was told they would be ready in two weeks. I get my initial delivery of 250 boxes. I wait for notification that the others are ready and it never comes. I call their customer service. im told the cabinets are out of stock with no date in which they will be back. they are no where in the US and they cant be sent from Canada bc "that's like a whole other country ". I spend almost 3 hrs on the phone. can't talk to anyone in Paramus. I have to go there physically. i have to sit and redo my kitchen plans. spend $1,000 more on cabinets. find out the the woman who ordered my kitchen used a fake name on all the paperwork. after one month of having 300 boxes just sitting in my house I finally get the installers. who have now sent me on 4 trips to the store to pick up all the things that were forgotten. I cannot go and pick them up myself I have to do the click and collect. it take a minimum of two hours with travel and waiting for items every time I go. ikea does not care about their customer. they do not care about their employees. the only positive of this experience were the installers who had to basically reconfigure the entire kitchen and really did a great job with the shit they were given. run away from ikea. do not continue to support this awful company that seems to take pleasure in making things exceedingly difficult for their customers. read more

If you know what you are getting or, only here for accessories, best advise is to skip the 3rd floor show room and just head right to the Market place on the 2nd floor. First, what they tell you when you are at the register ......... they give you a date and then tell you someone will call you a day before with a more precise time............THIS DID NOT HAPPEN Second, what they don't tell you when you check out at the register for delivery......... THEY DO NOT KNOCK ON THE DOOR TO TELL YOU THEY ARE HERE. Company "safety" policy from what I was told. They also don't tell you to expect a phone call, from a strange number, perhaps from another state, that your delivery is here. Third, what you do get: You get a call, mine from a Maryland phone number, without any indication that it is IKEA. I dont know about all of you, but with all the scam calls going on, I do not pick up phone numbers I don't recognize, especially one from out of State. The person did leave a message on my machine saying they were leaving in 10 minutes if I didn't call back. They did NOT leave a phone number on the message. Luckily, or unluckily, I did listen to that message a few minutes after I received it. So I called back the phone number that showed up on my phone, and guess what...................it is not the driver's phone number, it is IKEA main customer service line. I waited for 20 minutes on that line, and no one answered so I hung and gave up. I don't think I've ever rated any business this badly before but it had to be done. This was the worst experience I've ever had at IKEA. My go to location is in NY but many items were sold out so I decided to make the trip using Click and collect. The parking lot was spacious but that's where the positives end. We were looking for the click and collect service and the security guards mumbled and barely acknowledged us, told us to go upstairs, the actual worker said to go to the parking upstairs. Had to go out again to get our car. We wasted almost 20 minutes being told where to go. The bar code system was buggy, I had two orders and it didn't even register one of them. A few of us tried to get help at the desk, the lady working barely acknowledged us until someone spoke up. She was very condescending After an hour and a half later I finally got half my stuff out, thankfully one employee actually cared enough to help and got my other stuff. Ikea Paramus kills me. Its a huge store. Clean. It has great room displays. But try to shop there and there's a good chance you'll leave empty handed. Because there is so little on the shelves to buy. Items listed online with a green dot and "In Stock" for Paramus cannot be found in the store. Ever. Sheets, for example. There are none on the shelves. Check online and it says "in stock." But week after week, month after month - no sheets. Weirdly - they have a ton of blue pillowcases. Perhaps we're supposed to buy a bunch and assemble them into sheet sets the same way we'd build a Malm? What do they have? Candles. Red candles. White candles. Thousands of them. Something is seriously wrong with Ikea's inventory system. Its not just this location either. Its completely unreliable. How do they manage to order items if they don't know what they have? Updated review! Paid for delivery for furniture to be delivered today from 9 am to 1pm. Terrible customer service at Ikea, the rep yelled at my sibling who called in inquiring about the delivery since they got no call and no one showed up between the times stated. We get a call at 2:15 (an hour and fifteen mins after the last hour of the time of the delivery time frame) with someone stating they will deliver it later today. Ridiculous. Like we had all day to wait for them and then stay even later?! We scheduled it to be delivered another day and will wait on what happens. I hope there are no further issues, as I will escalate this further if any more problems ensue. Initial review: I wonder if the employees here are treated properly. They certainly don't act like they want to be there or are willing to help you. It took 3 employees with bad attitudes to answer a question about a loft bed that had a tag to talk to an employee. It was being discontinued according to one employee, another employee stated there was another shipment coming in [which they didn't have the ability to do back orders for] and a third employee stating that we could purchase the display model. We finally got some clarity talking to a manager who stated that the display cannot be for sale because it is a child item and that it was being discontinued. We ended up getting a different loft bed with home delivery, which cost us $84, since our vehicle was too small. The line for the home delivery was short, just us and one other party, but it took more than 40 minutes, only to be helped by someone who was also not eager to help or be there for the customer. Customer service is seriously lacking. No matter how simple or how inexpensive the items at ikea are, the experience for the customer needs to be much better at this location. Probably one of the better IKEAs I've been to. The store seems very well stocked and has a lot of little conveniences that I haven't seen in other ikeas. One thing I really liked was that you can actually being the cart to your car in the parking lot.I'm not sure if it's bigger but it seems they have more space and more items than other ikeas. If I was rating the place on the meatballs, easily a 4! My problem with this place is that quite often the price signs are missing near the items and it is not easy to find someone to get a price for you (can I recommend price check scanners in the departments). Another problem is the register lines. I've been there several times recently and I'm in there for a thing or two but there is no express and maybe only 2 or 3 registers open with long lines. Yes, I am one of those people who will just put my purchase down and walk out!! I do think the store is well maintained as far as cleanliness, including the restrooms IKEA is a great place for furniture if you're on a budget. I purchase a much needed couch there last year and I spend just as many nights sleeping on that as I do my bed because it's so comfortable. I chose a more pricey couch but it was well worth it. Putting together the stuff may not be for everyone but I love a fun project and most of the things I've gotten here are not that difficult to assemble. And all the great items throughout the market level to choose from...just so many are missing the prices. Even displays, there can be a huge bin of something yet no price. And...we're back, folks. Sorry for the Yelping hiatus, but if you've been following my Facebook status (and who isn't, really?), I just moved. And we all know how that takes over your life. But we also know that any good move involves a trip to Ikea. I've been fortunate enough in my NYC moving history (3 apartments and counting) to have inherited/craiglisted enough furniture, but this time I was looking for something specific (read: small, cute, and cheap) and was in possession of a Zipcar. Thus, being more familiar with Northern than Southern Jersey (don't ask), and not wanting to fight off hipsters in Red Hook, it was off to Paramus for me. Now, believe it or not, this was my maiden Ikea voyage (see above paragraph) and it was everything I could have wanted and more. I won't waste precious words describing the cute cheapness - we're all very familiar. I got the precise desk, shelves and window treatments I wanted and was out for under $250. Brilliant. My only complaint is this: in the "self-serve" furniture department - particularly with desks that come in multiple parts - I wish it were easier to get a complete list of everything you need to build a desk (legs, frame, top, etc.) Subsequent research revealed you can print this information out online before you go, but there should be an in-store-friendly way to do this. It would have saved me another trip to New Jersey. But other than that, you can't go wrong with Ikea for cuteness and wallet-friendliness. Thank you, Sweden! read more

Many years ago when I first ventured into the land of reality and rented my first apartment I purchased a TV stand and stereo rack cabinet from IKEA in Elizabeth. Those two pieces are pretty top quality and are made of sturdy and thick PARTICLE BOARD, not wood. But, these two pieces are still standing the test of time. Recently, I purchased a library shelf from the Paramus store. The place was a mob scene as expected, but moving around inside wasn't too tough. Customer service was very helpful and attentive unlike some other reviews say. All lines any and everywhere were longer than they needed to be, some cash register systems died in the midst of the long lines leaving people stranded and further frustrating people. Anyways, I had no choice, I had to deal with it so I did. I never ate here and probably wouldn't go out of my way to either. Paramus is pretty ridiculous; blue laws close all operations on Sunday, but yet the town continues to build more retail stores and complains people need Sunday off. But, I digress. Finally home and ready to assemble, remembering how I hate Ikea's picture only instructions. Four hours later, a few missing directions, a lot of extra pieces from Ikea, two extra pieces from me, poor craftsmanship causing a ton of misaligned holes and broken particle board remind me never to shop at Ikea again. Hell, I'd gladly pay more for real customer service, and to not have to pick up my own products. Some of these are well over 100 pounds and for Ikea to expect customers to do it on their own without readily available assistance is pretty sad. I don't know. It always seems that some part of the Ikea puzzle is missing. Any time I have ever shopped there has always been with friends and it's always been somewhat tedious. There is so much to see and when you finally land on something, chances are it's either out of stock or discontinued. The process of selecting something, finding it and paying for it are all convoluted. It's kind of like they need a sales coordinator or someone to walk you through the process. I have no experience with their online or catalog businesses but I think that these models would work a lot better given size and inventory constraints of their retail locations. Buying a piece of furniture should not be this time consuming. On a positive note, their houseware items and things that are displayed that can be purchased at point of sale are awesome. Not sure of their quality because, like I said, my experience is second hand but the value seems to be exceptional. If I take a guess at what they are selling an item for I always guess high. I don't feel that it's necessary to discuss the assembly of their furniture because most people understand what it entails. Following instructions is absolutely necessary, divergence from which can spell disaster because some things that you assemble cannot be successfully disassembled. In the cheap, put-it-together-yourself furniture department they really have little competition so in many ways this review is pointless. What I can recommend sticking to their catalog and opt for delivery over pick up. Oh, and their Swedish meatballs rock. Not as good as my Aunt Elsie's but still really good. read more

Yes, we purchased functional and nice-looking furniture for the guest bedroom for reasonably low prices. Yes, we had lunch in the in-store cafeteria for a reasonably low price. And it was reasonably good. Yes, we had the famous Swedish meatballs. And like Stew Leonards we had to follow the yellow-brick road through the entire store to get to where we wanted to go. They do give you a map. People everywhere (place was packed) and no salespeople anywhere. And then we got to walk three thousand miles to (1) pickup unassembled tables in the warehouse area and then (2) proceed to the line at the checkout counter. To carry this to a silly level ----- we had to stand in line twice - yes twice - once to pay for what we were carrying home and again to pay for what we wanted to have delivered. And no - you cannot pay for both on one line. One could conceivably have to stand on three (3) lines if you (a) take stuff in your shopping cart, (b) want stuff you can't carry in your cart to take home in your car, and (c) have stuff delivered. This blows my mind. Don't come alone... Line time = 45 minutes. And after all that walking. Geez we were exhausted. The meatballs are just not good enough for that. I don't understand why management does not open up more registers during peak hours. It's 5:00 pm and the line lines are 15-20 people deep with only 4 registers open. Same with returns. The line is totally unorganized. They are supposed to use a delicatessen style numbering system where you pic a ticked with a number on it but no IKEA person actually care to enforce that rule. "Floor managers" walking around totally clueless. I asked one for help saying " excuse me can you help me?" and she replied "what's up". What's up??? IKEA is always busy on weekends so the best time is going on weekdays during the daytime. Every weekday there are specials at their food court dining. Mondays are my fav as its free breakfast till 11am! Coffee is always free if you are a card member and it's free to apply for the card. The place is little disorganized just like all other ikea locations. It's difficult to get anyone from customer service but if you know what you want/need, then the shopping experience isn't so bad. The deals here are pretty good at times but remember, you pay for what you get. The quality aren't the best plus the pricing is taken into consideration that you are self delivering and installation. This review is for the food/kitchen: heard the restaurant was reopened after being recently renovated, but it seems the same as it was before, at least everything exterior. Went around dinner time on a weekday. Quite a long line that was slowly moving. Only half of the serving area was opened. And one not both registers. Not all of the drinks and desserts and cold entrees were available which was a let down since there were new items we wanted to try. But the service and quality was the usual, so no complaints with the kitchen staff or cashiers. Food was as expected, got the swedish meatballs, marinated salmon, French fries, and two desserts. Blueberry mousse tasted better than expected. Dining area was average: ample seating but in need of tidying. In the future, I will make sure their wish comes true! No money from me! If I could give less than one star I would. I don't understand the poor ratings of Ikea's food court. The same people that complain the food is bland or that the lines are long are the exact people that end up coming back here to eat again. Meatballs are $6 + taxes, for either pork or chicken. The vegan balls were $4 + tax. I wasn't so much a fan of the vegan ball's texture or flavor, but the quinoa and blistered tomatoes that come with it were pretty tasty and kept me full until dinner time. Considering I had the meal at 1, this was pretty impressive. The best deal at this food court/establishment are undeniably the cinnamon rolls, free refill fountain drinks/coffee, and the meatball/vegan ball plate combos. I think McDonalds makes better chicken tenders, and I don't care for the baby back ribs and the steamed flavorless veggies here it reminds me too much of school lunches I had as kid. Unlike some of the petty people who took the time to leave a poor rating or public reproach of this small part of a huge store, I'm gonna give this place 4 stars. For furniture at consistently rational prices within the As Is section, for meatballs, or vegan balls that haven't changed their recipe since I've first ever had it, for the lingonberry (or cranberry?) juice that never lets me down, and for offering to-go packaging for those who want to take this food to go home. read more

IKEA FURNITURE I came here because I needed some new furniture for my new apartment, but sometimes it's fun to just explore with no real objective. Usually you'll leave with a new smorgasbord that you never thought you needed, but will improve your day-to-day life in previously unimaginable ways. The basement section with home appliances is where it's at. IKEA FOOD What a lovely cafeteria establishment. I always hear stories of grandparents and scandinavian expats driving 1+ hours for the Swedish meatball and lingonberry specials. I am becoming one of those people. read more

Came here for the first time this Monday (New Years Day) to pick up an entertainment center for our living room. We already knew which one we wanted (Mavas, birch-black). They didn't have at the Elizabeth location the day before, so we called ahead and found out they had it here. We arrived at about 3 in the afternoon and found parking pretty close to the entrance. As soon as we got in, I had to use the bathrooms. The bathrooms are okay and seem clean, but they smell SO bad (I went to both the upper level and lower level bathrooms: had a lot to drink during lunch). Yeah, not a pleasant bathroom experience. The stalls I used ran out of toilet seat liners, which was a negative. I'm not sure if it was the day I went, but the place was pretty crowded. It wasn't too bad to be annoying, though. When we got to the pick-up area, it seemed like almost all items were in stock. I was also amazed by their huge fans and I kept looking up at them. The self-checkout took a little bit longer than I expected, but I'm sure that's all dependent on the people in front of you and whether or not they can navigate the system. read more

Who doesn't go to IKEA to plan out their rooms in their future home? I love coming here just for that. You get lost looking at all home items and can last the whole day in there. They have a cafeteria where the food is really really cheap n an are you can sit an eat. I got a small salmon salad n a tomato soup. Both were yummy all for $8! The staff is pretty nice but on Saturdays and Sundays, it's a nightmare to come here as everyone and their momma be here. Check out lines are ridiculous. So just come on a Tuesday where the store is empty, There's no huge lines, and kids eat for free :) read more

During the pandemic, IKEA has been great about having employees wear masks, social distancing, limiting the number of shoppers inside the store, etc. I felt comfortable shopping there. Several products I wanted were unfortunately sold out but seems there is a high demand for affordable home goods while most of the country is spending a considerable time at home. Makes sense. I would give 5 stars for the store itself, but the low rating is because of my experience with delivery. The service inside IKEA Paramus NJ was great and had no issues. The issue was with the delivery service you use (North American Logistics). We received our Order on the date within the time frame scheduled, however, our experience with the delivery people was incredibly upsetting and disappointing. They were rude on the phone, rude in person, none of them wore masks/face coverings during this pandemic leaving us incredibly uncomfortable, were rude to our building superintendent, unprofessional, and grumbling about delivering to our door to the point my husband ended up having to take each HEAVY box by himself without a dolly into the elevator and up to our door because they were not wearing masks (our building requires masks). We paid the delivery fee to AVOID having to carry heavy boxes ourselves to our apartment and this defeated the entire purpose of paying for this service. Incredibly disappointed that IKEA uses this company for deliveries. They are not up to the same standard of customer service IKEA typically provides. Delivery fee seemed reasonable until we experienced it ourselves. Transport items by yourself if at all possible and skip the delivery service. read more
