This Ikea is no different than any other. Long maze like shopping that is impossible to do quickly, while offering incredible deals and amazing prices! We came to buy two folding chairs, a bench and a few kitchen items. We were able to get through all of the mazes, and remembered to take pictures of the products we were looking for before heading to the warehouse. Pro tip: Nothing was located in the aisle and bin marked in the showrooms. When we got to each intended location, the shelves were bare. We did not find out where things were actually located until we plugged in the item number into one of the computers located in the warehouse itself. We were able to find everything we hoped for, but they were all located somewhere else. read more

Came here for a new table top to reconfigure my desk. The place is packed not much social distancing or people wearing masks either. Lots of items were unavailable, I was able to find the perfect table top quickly and got out of dodge. The staff all appeared to be assisting people, which is a good thing. read more

This is for my second visit to this location. The first time, I stopped by a few months ago to exchange an item that I purchased, but in the wrong color. The employee helping me with the return was a huge help and very pleasant to deal with, and I was able to promptly get what I actually needed, plus a couple of other pieces for my new apartment. Anyway, back to the review proper... So having just moved, and having essentially no furniture, I've needed a couch, but I've held off for a number of reasons (small car, most sites only ship and don't schedule delivery, too expensive, blah blah blah). But I was going to be passing through the area, and having had a good experience the last time at the Paramus store, I figured I would see what the deal is and if I could get a couch delivered if I ordered it in store. When I arrived, I immediately headed over to the home delivery area and was assisted by Jax, who was incredibly helpful in explaining how we could go about setting up a delivery if I purchased the couch that day. So I went to the self-service furniture part of the store, got the boxes that I needed, and rung up at the self-checkout. While trying to ring up, I discovered that one of the items I was purchasing required two boxes, and I (fool that I am) only grabbed one of them. Thankfully, the woman overseeing the self-checkout registers, Nicolle, helped point this out to me (without making me feel like an idiot) and watched my items while I ran back to get the last box (which also required a second cart - yeesh). I finally finished my purchase, and brought my carts over one by one (Nicolle kindly kept an eye on everything while I made my trips to the delivery area). And thankfully, Jax was still there and immediately helped set up my delivery, which we were able to schedule for just a few hours later. The price was pretty reasonable, and it was a huge relief to finally have everything squared away. The delivery was carried out by a third party site/company, so while that doesn't have much to do with the store directly, I will say that the delivery went off without any problems - my purchase was dropped off on-time, and the drivers were incredibly friendly and helpful. I cannot speak highly enough about the staff that have helped me during my visits to this store. Next time I need to go to an IKEA, this will certainly be my first stop. I see other reviews criticizing the store for not having certain items in stock, and I have to comment - that's not the fault of the store. Look, I get it, it's an inconvenience and a disappointment, but there are supply chain issues of all kinds in stores of all kinds all over. And sometimes...stores just run out of things. It's not due to any kind of negligence or bad service. Just my two cents. read more

So for IKEA this isn't such a bad place - Restaurant review: it's clean (both the Bistro and the Restaurant) and pretty much like eating in a university cafeteria for lunch. Prices are reasonable. There is a food section just before the express self-checkout area which is great for frozen packs of 4 types of meatballs (chicken, beef & pork, vegetarian and plant-based meatballs). We got rosti and mashed potatoes and Gravlax and shrimp and frozen salmon fillets. Service can be a little slow depending on foot traffic. So overall - IF I were shopping in IKEA and felt hungry I'd definitely come here but wouldn't go out of my way. Final comment about their website: So before I went I wanted to know if all the listed 70 in all) food items promoted online with prices, description and photos.... were available. Made sense as I didn't want to go and find they were out of stock of meatballs- I called customer service and obviously got some hapless chappie in the Far East blindly telling me in his best English that if the item has a green dot it means it's in stock and a red dot if it's sold out. Well- seemed that the only things in stock were the Lingonberry syrup and the meatballs..... I went anyway and was most surprised to find the opposite was the case. The food market court stock bore no relation to the availability of products online. Just saying Friendly and knowledgeable staff Ms Sonia Reyes the Housekeeping Supervisor was amazing - cleared up a dropped tray from some lady with a smile and ensuring her staff were taking care of all the customers in the restaurant read more

I can easily forgive a few hiccups, but this place is a disaster. I don't want to complain, just do better. I've tried ordering online for pickup, and they're not ready even 6 hours after the scheduled time. Some of the IKEA designs are cool, but it's not worth the trouble. read more

I tried to add to my last post but was unable. Adding insult to injury. IKEA fell through again. They were scheduled to do a pick up and refund on 12/13/22. The appointment was scheduled over a week ago. I received TWO texts on 12/12/22 confirming they would be here and then they no showed. When I called they told me the pickup had been cancelled, news to me!!! I'm absolutely furious as I'm only available 2 days a week due to health issues and they didn't show. read more

Love ikea. This location is super crowded on weekends . Billing takes a long time . Even in week days 80% of the billing counters are closed and long wait times . I am not the first to complain about the returns and exchanges department and I won't be the last. Two open registers on a Saturday afternoon with about 80 people waiting is absurd and unacceptable. This not only reflects upon the poor management but the lack of consideration for their customer's time. I've been a long time fan of IKEA. All I have to say is. Make sure you plan on keeping what you bought otherwise plan on waiting at least an hour to be called. read more

IKEA - Two open registers with roughly 80 people waiting for service. Poor management amounts to a lot of upset customers. - Furniture Stores Near Me - Paramus, New Jersey

Visited this store today to buy items for my daughters dorm in New York for this school year. Items were not marked properly or in the correct place. We asked for a managers help at the register to help us with pricing of an item that was marked for sale. The manager worked in the department the item in question was found. We were met with terrible customer service from this manager. Her name was Marbeli. She never considered approaching us as customers. She approached our questions as if we were personally attacking her and her department. It's hard to comprehend a corporation as large as IKEA hiring an associate to be a manager with such poor customer service and interpersonal communication skills. I would not recommend anyone shop at this IKEA. We should have stayed in New York and shopped for my daughters dorm furniture elsewhere. I have never given a bad review on Yelp. This is my first bad review. Next year when my daughter moves off campus, we will not be shopping in New Jersey at IKEA. We will take our business elsewhere. I will also be sure to let the parents on my daughter's college soccer team know not to shop at IKEA in New Jersey because of the poor customer and management team. read more

I love Ikea like I love target. Durning this pandemic though, I'm not loving it. No type of 6ft distance being displayed, barely any hand sanitizer around and no limit capacity. Literally only two good things came out of this visit, sanitized carts and wearing a mask is a must! The amount of people at this location gave me anxiety, everyone was on top of one another, I literally had to step aside to get away from the crowded lines that follow the store. The registers worked so fast that it was the fastest check out I've experienced during this pandemic. Come to find out that the family card is no longer a thing & no more catalogs. This location specifically was well stocked upon my visit, a little messy but I'm sure that was done by the customers. Had a few interactions with staff, they were friendly & helpful. read more

Ordered 6 bookcases online. Communication re delivery was terrible. Pieces arrived damaged -- one shelf actually had tape holding it together, so the damage didn't happen in transit; it was shipped that way! Return process is complicated and if you want a pick-up (which was essential for me in NYC), you have to pay for it in advance. Took 3 phone calls to Ikea customer service before I got someone who was helpful and knowledgeable. There's a reason this stuff is so cheap -- it's junk. Will never, ever buy from them again. read more

Ikea. We had a deal. I'd have coffee in your cafe. If it was busy, I'd just steal the cup, because I was about to spend $400-3000 there and it's COFFEE, but I'd do my planning over the coffee. Everything at your store, on my end, save the coffee, would be frustrating, but the coffee got me through your famously stressful, impersonal showroom gauntlet. Now, I need to wait in a line to OBTAIN A TOKEN to get a coffee so I can cope with coping with you? I tried today -- for the first time -- to wait in your line and get a token and they didn't have the tokens, so the poor worker had to run into the back and leave the register. Meanwhile -- I'm the asshole holding up the snake line and the rituals of all the other sad sacks who only deal with Ikea because they think they have to. But they don't. We don't. Fuck that. Fuck you. Just walked out. Was going to buy an entire kitchen.... A Kitchen island... A sink... Counter tops... A range... Stop getting a halfie about this, you translucent Scando-faced social media intern! It's never gonna happen now or ever again. Because... Fucking coffee token! So you're dead to me. I mean it! Go die in a fire, dip a match in the smouldering remains, relight the fire. Repeat. I have to say im a little to overwhelmed. IKEA it's one of those store you got to find everything yourself or walk around and around looking for what you need. The prices are okay but the process of IKEA was just like nooo get me out of here. They do have a lot of great things but it's exhausting since you have to grab everything yourself and look for the item yourself. The workers were not helpful. The last couple of times, I've realized your experience really depends on the cashier. Sometimes the cashier seems focused and friendly and other times I've had an unaware and not as friendly cashier. On more than one occasion the cash register wasn't able to scan my "as is" from the clearance side and I've had to leave those items back. While, not any fault of the cashier, I've also had this happen where they by passed the problem at other ikeas. Some cashiers are just more inviting than others, and I've been to a lot of ikeas. This one is always up and down. The wait for them pull items from the back is ridiculous, I want to say we nearly waited 2 hours but it felt like 3. Parking is plentiful for them and the cafeteria is consistent. Those are the good things about this ikea:-) read more

The whole pick up furniture is a mess and very unclear . To even get to the area you must exit the building and look for very small signage that then has you scan a QR code. Then you have to wait for a text confirmation (assuming you get service in the overhead concrete parking lot) . Then you drive to the spot and wait there? Good luck if you came alone and have to run downstairs to get your car . There's also only one ikea guy. Stay away from this ikea, it's so disorganized and poorly ran. read more

Parking is a pain, the show floors are a bit of a mess, but at least the signs help somewhat... It's hard when this is the closest IKEA without driving another 20 miles, and you almost have to just take it as it is. My favorite part about this place is the dining area of course. Who can say no to their plate of cheap Swedish meatballs? Service in this area is always friendly and as long as they have enough cashiers on duty, even the larger lunch or dinner crowds are okay checking out. The problem is finding assistance on the floor. Sometimes you have to wait forever for help with their products. Or you have to trek to another section for an employee. But if you have a day to kill, who doesn't love getting "lost" in IKEA? read more

The method of picking up items from their 2nd floor area leaves a lot to be desired. It's located in a second floor parking garage and there is basically no cell phone signal. I then went inside to try to find help at the home delivery Dept. I yelled to signal a woman who worked there, but she just IGNORED ME and walked away. I then walked inside the home delivery area in hopes of finding help with my pick up, but all I got was a healthy serving of attitude from a woman sitting behind a computer near the home delivery entrance. When I complained that I was obviously ignored, she chose to argue with me that I was wrong. Not sure who the vile lady is, but she needs an inservice on customer care and politeness. The young man who was delivering packages to the cars was the only one who bothered to help me. He should have a promotion and that shrill woman's chair at the computer...take the lady and her attitude outside with the packages. read more

While I love IKEA, they are magnets for certain types of people. I went today for a LAMP. 1 single item. First off, MOST of the cars in the lot have NY plates. I have nothing against NY'ers, but NY has their own IKEA - you don't find NJ peeps at the NY one.... ::hint hint:: Just makes for a hot mess. THEN, the minute you walk in, there's a line at the kid check. Literally a line of people anxious to drop off their kid in some random room with no one they know. This line today was SO LARGE that I could barely make my way to the stairs or escalator. After about 10 minutes I was able to finagle my way to the shopping area. This is where you ultimately encounter the next issue. The Ikea cart. The Ikea cart is a cart like no other. It moves to front to back, side to side, you push it forward it it whizzes across sideways, like an iceskater elegantly gliding on ice. .... so you get to the shopping area, and you now have hundreds of people trying to maneuver their carts. Throw into the mix, the 1,000 kids who were not checked into kid check. These kids are running around like children of Satan. I have nothing against Satan, but so many of them in 1 store is enough to make you want to scream. Long story short. I got my lamp (great lamp for only $39.99) Here's my advice: Only go during the week and between 9-3 (no holidays) oh and the food is great - especially for the price ;) .... and I love the gummy candies in the shape of a car (Ahlgrens Bilar) read more

The click and collect service was AMAZING. Most efficient service I've seen in a long time! We finally managed to get our order through online and received a time slot for pick up. When we arrived at the Paramus location, they were well prepped with signs everywhere stating where to go and instructions on how to pick up your item. The staff were super friendly and attentive! Very pleased with how they are handling the pandemic situation - kudos! read more

Lack of open registers always a problem here. 8:30 on a weeknight, only 2 check out lines open. UNACCEPTABLE for the number of people in the lines with loaded shopping carts. Several employees leaving registers and someone making rounds with the till. Get it together IKEA. Every other part of the seemed overstaffed. Next time someone asks if I need help with anything out in the depressing "marketplace" area I'll say Yes please open a register! Why do they make it so hard for customers to give them money? They didn't get any of mine that night, except in the upstairs cafe area... Pretty good light dinner time in the cafe area upstairs...also 2 registers open, for a fraction of the people and only purchasing what's on their trays! This is by far the best IKEA in the NY/NJ area. This place is clean, organized, and overall just a great place to spend a few hours. Especially if you can get here during a weekday. Let's start off with $1 breakfast. Where else can you get a plate of actual food that was actually cooked for $1? Even the plastic/rubber creations from a typical fast food place poke McDonald's costs a few dollars more. IKEA's small breakfast plate, which has scrambled eggs, sausage, and potatoes, is the perfect start to any morning as far as I'm concerned. Get here before 10am and you also get a free coffee. If you're lucky enough to get here on a weekday, you'll be able to walk through the perfect Scandinavian-designed showroom in relative peace. Most of the time I'm here, I'm not even looking for anything, but it's still great just to walk around and browse. Maybe sit on a few sofas and chairs. Best of all, because of the way this place is designed, it's one of the best places to take a young toddler to run around and explore, as long as you keep a close eye on them. About the only negative I can think of is that it's closed on Sundays, although that's Bergen County's fault, and a topic for another day. read more

Im giving 5 stars for my overall thoughts on IKEA since I absolutely love the brand. This review is specifically for a trip taken during COVID. I took a trip to this location during COVID on 7/3/20, not knowing what to expect when I got there, especially since I went alone. As soon as I arrived to the parking lot, they have metal barricades set up, where there was a long line to get in. I went fairly late in the day (around 5pm) and the line was still a decent size. There werent any clear directions or markers to indicate the entrance of the line, so I found the last person on the line and squeezed in between the barricade to enter. The line moves fairly quickly, I can say I probably waited about 20 minutes on the actual line before I was let in to the store by a security guard that was allowing groups or families in at a time. The overall shopping experience was the same as an given IKEA trip. The showroom is open for you to browse and leisurely walk around, with the exception of the restaurant being closed and blocked off. When You get down to the actual shopping area, they have sanitizing wipes for you to wipe down your cart. The showroom wasn't crowded, but I felt like the shopping area was a little too crowded for my liking. There were also many items out of stock. Lucky, I was able to find a majority of things I wanted. If you need to check stock beforehand, I suggest downloading the IKEA app. The app will tell you if the item is in stock or not at any store and will also give you the location of where you can find the item in the store. The checkout experience was a little different. Instead of each register having its own separate line, there was one big line for all registers and an employee would tell you which register to go to when you got to the front. The marketplace for snacks and drinks was open and they had pizza, cinnamon rolls and hot dogs for sale. Overall, I spent about two hours in the store, but that was only because I took my time walking around and browsing. read more

Swedish knock down furniture looks a bit tired to me these days. Or maybe I'm just not the same guy to whom this stuff seemed so gee whiz cool 30 years ago. But the food and coffee at the cafe was surprisingly good and crazy cheap. The roasted salmon, veggies and potato croquet were full of flavor -- even though I know it was all previously frozen and reconstituted that day. Honest institutional cooking. The coffee americano -- now that was just spectacular! As good if not better than Nespresso -- from a machine that grinds beans fresh and for only a buck -- served in ceramic cups with unlimited refills. It pumps out cappuccino and espresso too. We bought sheets, a comforter and comforter cover for our son's new bed -- and for such things -- quality remains high and pricing quite reasonable. And at this locale you can bypass the maze like retail setup through "bail out" doorways -- and jet to wherever you need go in the store without the "rat in the maze" feeling IKEA is famous for. Top tip: The food and coffee is worth a look if you find yourself shopping here. Seriously. read more

This iKea is great, big, and not over crowded. I like this location a lot. I find everything i need here. Plus, the prices are very reasonable. The furniture is always modern and has a futuristic vibe to it. I don't really bother with the show room. I review everything i need online, write down the aisle number, grab and go. I don't have time for nonsense. Every time that I've shopped here, it has been rather pleasant and the crowds were relatively decent. I didn't feel like everyone was on top of each other. The joys of shopping out in NJ, right! I stopped coming here because my ex brought me some shelves here and also helped assemble and mount them on the wall. I don't know how to do any type of work meant for mountain men who drink beer, burp, and fart. I am classy all the way, and I'm not chipping a nail. Been coming here for years. Have to say it's fine, but sometimes finding someone to help you can be a challenge. Unless you're by the kitchen area- there's always people there to help. For some strange reason, this most recent trip, it was so hard to find posted prices for a variety of items I was curious about. It was a Saturday. While I was checking out, I noticed an employee being extremely rude to a customer. Whether she was in the wrong or not, there's no reason for an employee to have attitude. The manager came over and was empathetic and professional. That was refreshing to see. Returns: I feel like there are never enough employees for the amount of people who have returns. read more
